Shio's eyes were narrowed and lidded, words still flowing through his head at a speed like thick treacle. He was almost too focused on what he was doing to notice when the creature began its counterattack, but alarm bells began to ring in his head when he noticed the telltale signs of a cero being fired...and saw that somehow, this creature's cero was snapping back and forth. Shio wasn't an expert on hollows, far from it, but the notion of a cero that moved in something other than a straight line was almost certainly something he would've heard about before now. Something odd was going on here, something that this creature had no doubt done while he was distracted.
As he scanned the area, he noticed it almost immediately; the disturbances seemed to come most prominently when near those odd little twinkling objects he had been creating. They almost looked like they were funneling off small bits of reishi, turning them into fuel. He disappeared in another flicker of motion...directly towards his opponent. The cero moved quickly, but Shio himself moved just as fast, and he'd had ample time to figure out where he was heading. He appeared in a flicker of motion, his own words being blocked off by the cracking sound of a cero striking the barrier behind him. He began to engage in an odd, almost spastic pirouette...that left him able to hold level with the endless stream of bala coming after himself. He didn't even seem to be using shunpo so much as dancing back and forth, his movements wild and spastic, but oddly effective. It was just possible he could've dodged them all.
If not for the wax, still raining down. He'd experienced the pain of getting struck by them a few times in the past, and while he wasn't entirely sure how painful or deadly a bala was, he knew those balls of wax could dislocate a shoulder or give him a concussion if he wasn't careful. His movements, rapid though they were, cautious and graceful as they were, left him in the line of fire of at least a few dozen of the bala, causing him to get struck by smatterings of energy to his torso and shoulders. He turned to them carefully, inspecting them and managing to draw a faint hiss through his lips as he realized that none of them were debilitating. He inhaled, thrusting a hand towards the adjuchas, murmuring to himself as he did.
"Bright. Way too bright in here. I can't even tell what's going on. Can't even tell what I'm doing up here anymore. Why does it have to be me? Fuck...whine later. Deal with the problem for now. Oh great King, seal thy opponent in thou great demise through fate!"
As he finished speaking, a thick pillar of yellow light seemed to streak from each of his fingers, flying towards the adjuchas at remarkable speeds. If he was right and its vision was just as impaired as his, he'd be able to hold it in place fairly effectively. With his head, he turned ever so carefully, pinching out the wick of his zanpakuto between the crook of his neck and shoulder, and swiping it downwards, towards the source of the light. As he did a thick, almost lumpy doorway of wax seemed to form immediately in front of him. He flattened himself against it, keeping his hand aimed at the adjuchas, just on the off-chance he'd been able to strike with his bakudo.
Incantation: Oh great King, seal thy opponent in thou great demise through fate!
Description: An enhanced variation of Bakudō #1, Sai. The user fires five beams of golden light from one hand's fingertips that can bind multiple targets or multiple limbs of the same target. The downside to this Kidō is the fact that the user can't move their selected hand without diminishing or breaking the beams unless they are of Taichō class power, in which they would easily be able to move their hands.
Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps)
Class: Stepping
Type: Stepping
Range: N/A
Tier: I
Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps.
More prey arrived within the barrier, but they'd have precious little time to catch their bearings. The three brightly burning stars rapidly reached critical before exploding in a blast large enough to catch the new prey in its edge unless they took near instant evasive action.
It'd be far worse for the one that harmed the Beast though.
Caught in-between the three explosions, while his hastily erected shield would prevent damage the pressure and the noise of the three competing explosions, made even more cacophonic due to the enclosed space of the barrier bouncing the shockwave around, would be extremely disorienting. Between the light ruining his night vision and now this it would be like a flash-bang going off.
Between his distance and his smokey nebula cutting down on the light the Beast was far less affected, however the Beast did not get off scot-free with that exchange.
He wasn't expecting the Bakudo launched as a counter and his reaction was a second too late. Hidden within his nebula he'd be hard to target. To have any chance of hitting they prey had to fire his five shots widely spread to cover as much area as possible and even then the one beam that managed only managed to score a hit on the beast's left leg.
The Beast's roar let the prey know that it hooked something. The Beast struggled, wings flapping to try and break free, but it was like his leg was being held by and invisible giant. Each inch was a struggle. Rather than futilely struggle against the bind it stopped to fire a constant stream of bala down on the prey holding it to suppress him from taking advantage of the Beast being bound.

Shio's wall held up to the explosions surprisingly well, falling apart after a moment or two, and leaving him standing on thin air once more. He still couldn't see a thing, however; whatever attack the beast had used, his senses were utterly deafened by the incredible force of those bombs going off. He held his hand in place however, unwilling to risk releasing his binding on the off-chance he had landed a blow on his opponent. The other one rose, clutching his zanpakuto, and as he swung it up in a wide, sweeping arc, it once more seemed to take the form of an enormous, overly heavy blade that would've been quite efficient at blocking the incoming bala...if he could see them. Instead he felt himself pummelled by half a dozen before he could raise up a hasty defense, the attacks shattering against the all-too-familiar golden array of his Bakudo.
He closed his eyes tightly shaking his head back and forth, and blinking rapidly. Anything he could think up to buy himself a bit more vision, to let him see what was going on. The area was growing slightly easier to notice, but his enemy was still hidden behind that strange miasma of reishi that it had release, little more than one blur in an entire cloud of blurriness. And entering the area, Shio could see two more splotches of blurriness; no doubt his two comrades-in-arms, here to lend aid. Or to critique, undoubtedly. He clenched his hand into a fist, speaking to himself. The words spilled out now, at breakneck speeds, tripping over themselves. He'd get this kido out if it killed him.
"The crest of turbidity seeping out, the...shit! An insolent vessel of madness, boiling up and denying, numbness, blinking, obstructing slumber...fuck, -no-! Too quick! There's a pause in there...somewhere...fuuuck!"
He was so caught in his own world, he didn't even notice as one of the shinigami took up to his side, pressing a palm to his wounded, swollen hip and murmuring to himself. Shio managed to blink back some tears, noticing a familiar head of blonde hair. And just like that, the tears were back...leaving his sight blurrier even than it had been after the stars.
"What are you doing...? I'm not the priority."
"Like hell you're not. I'm not watching anyone else die. Stand back and let us-"
"No. I started this, and I'll see it through."
"...Whatever you say. Just don't let this thing land another hit like that."
Description: A simple healing spell used to heal injuries. Costing Reiatsu depending on the wound, this Kidou surrounds the target in a flash of green light, before starting to heal their injuries. Some internal injuries can be healed, while injuries like cuts in the heart cannot. This technique cannot heal poisons and other ailments.
Being cast as a tier III, to minimize damage from the first Cero Shio was clipped by.
Red. The burning red light of a Cero charging up in the Beast's mouth. With a roar to shake the heavens it unleashed the blast shearing through the golden beam tethering the Beast on its way towards the stationary prey. More than that though, it wasn't done.
The Beast surged upwards commanding the upper part of the pyramidal barrier with the dark grasping wisps of its nebula. Hidden within its dark cloud the Beast circled once, twice then let loose with a torrential downpour of bala upon the battlefield! No, no, comparing it to rain isn't right. Rain only goes in one direction.
Under the pull of the Beast's field of stars the bala were like living things! They curved. They spun. They even sling shot all the way around some of the stars to come at the prey from entirely different directions! For the one who hurt it and the new prey that had been next to it this rain was meant to be little more than (a very damaging) distraction. Its real target was the third prey, to keep it away from its herd, wear it down with constant attacks and then! The kill! Warm blood! Soft flesh! The transcendent silence that a new meal brought to the howling of the hundreds of souls raging within his body! FOOD!

Shio was almost too distracted by the presence of these unexpected allies that he couldn't even tell what the enemy was doing. He could see a glowing red light, growing brighter and brighter...but it seemed almost unimportant, his mind seeming to reel from the fact that he was no longer alone. How was he supposed to fight with these two watching, standing so close by? How could he do -anything- without worrying about putting them in the line of fire? Without worrying of what they may have to say afterwards? This wasn't simply a battle anymore, it was...a competition. It was yet another way for them to lord the heirarchy over his head once more. And oh -god- how he wanted to fight back, how he wanted so badly to just show these two up, shame them into silence and go back to his life. But it wouldn't work, he knew. There was no way to shame these sorts of...people. There was nothing he could do to change them.
All he could do was hope to weather the storm until it passed, until he was no longer worth their focus. And that meant...being patient. And most importantly, being boring. Offering nothing but the most basic of responses, saying absolutely nothing until prompted. He wouldn't beg, he wouldn't fight back, he'd just...wait.
It wasn't until he felt a hand against his cheek, felt the stinging pain of his comrade's strike, not until he noticed the approaching projectile that he truly came back to the scene. He reached a hand out, clasping his ally's without a word, and disappeared in a flicker of motion. The two of them both reappeared roughly ten feet away, one of those many stars safely between them and the beast. The blonde shinigami was almost baring his teeth at this point, and Shio swore he could see a speck of foam on the corner of his mouth.
"What did I -just- say, recruit!? Fuck, you're useless! What were you -thinking- stepping in here alone? Hoping if you just walked into a hollow's mouth you could get a discharge? Denied! I just told you, no one's dying on my watch!"
Shio shook his head, listening to the man's response. Yes, it was...furious. Yes, there was anger there. Perhaps even hatred. But why did it feel so...different this time? Why had that slap carried...concern? Why was this man still healing his hip, even as he was spouting these snide remarks? It was one thing to heal him and play nice and smile until the time was right...but this wasn't even feigned comradarie. This was something else entirely.
"Why...?"
"It's my job. Like it's your job to kill that thing!"
Shio shook his head once more, grimacing and glancing over towards their ally. Surprisingly, the lone recruit had risen his hands into a rather familiar fighting stance, and was casually, almost calmly swatting aside bala by the dozens. He was still suffering strikes to the chest and arms every few blocks, still being pelted by the heavy red projectiles, but they didn't seem to be overwhelming him...yet. He would be able to buy himself a few more moments.
"Go...go help him. I'll handle this."
"Oh shut up! You're going to sit here gawking all over again, and get someone -else- killed!"

Name: Taekwondo
Class: Fighting Style
Type: Supplementary
Range: Self.
Tier: N/A
Description: Taekwondo is the art of self-defense, and is one of the most common martial arts in the world. Taekwondo's main aspect is the emphasis on it's high kicks, which it is renowned for, a master of Taekwondo capable of hitting incredibly high axe kicks and breaking concrete on the bottom of their heel. Taekwondo, outside of it's high-kicks, acts as much more of a sport or fitness martial art, it's emphasis on the ability to stretch, flexibility, and physical form acts as much more of a sport rather then a full-fledged brutal style. Not to say it's weak, it's moreso that it's used mostly for athletic purposes.
The common practice for Taekwondo is to train in groups of ten to twenty, and is not that hard to find a dojo for. Often times, rather then physical punching, users of Taekwondo will focus on keeping a leg skywards, or kicking skywards, for prolonged periods of time. Sparring is common, but is much more focused around kicks against pads. Punching, in Taekwondo, isn't common, but is still touched upon, but not to much of an extent, and isn't often used in tournaments.
Name: Hosinsool [Self Defense]
Class: Hand to Hand Technique
Type: Defensive.
Range: Self.
Tier: III
Description: Hosinsool is the base of all self defense abilities for a taekwondo user. Most of these include blocks, disarms, and trips, but the core value is how to block onself from an oncoming ability. By taking up stance, a user of Taekwondo can block spiritual and physical abilities up to Tier III with their bare hands, which they proceed to break it apart with the flat of their palm in a thrust.
What a fool of prey! To think you have time to worry about others in this struggle? Naive! Too naive! There's no warning. No dramatic gathering of power. Just the glow of a new light of a sixth star being born out of the corner of their eye to perhaps hint at how perilous their situation is. Would it be enough?
Light.
Noise.
Fury.
Six stars explode, each with enough force to rival a cero at its greatest. The walls of the barrier cages the blast, turning it back on itself until it comes that there's nowhere to run. It even cuts through the Beast's nebula until the entire pyramid shines with violent white light. Only the Beast's own flare of power keeps his own attack from tearing at his own body. Would the prey be so lucky?
Ah..... but there's just... one... more thing. The hole. A straight passage right to Hueco Mundo. Still open and waiting. With the barrier caging the force of the blast there was only one place for all that pressure to escape to; right through the hole. Just like a bullet shot from a gun, even if the prey manage to survive the force of his attack would they be able to remain in their precious Soul Society?

Shio wasn't sure what was going on anymore. None of it made sense anymore. All he knew was that this was getting too hard to handle, too much for his mind...and it was on the verge of shutting down. Catatonia was the only safe response, no? There was no way to hurt him if he went elsewhere, to a place none of them could reach. He closed his eyes, almost prepared to leave all of it behind. The fight, the pain, the heat and light, the entire world that had let him end up in a circumstance like this. Only one thought stopped him, echoing through his skull with the precision of an ice-pick, aimed directly at his heartstrings.
If you step away from all of this, then you'll come back changed. A flame, snuffed out, can never be revived. Only replaced.
Shio's eyes snapped open, grabbing the arm of the shinigami that had been shrieking at him up to now, turning in a half-circle and tossing him towards their third ally. With a flicking motion of his hand the familiar greenish lantern of reaitsu formed around them, shielding them from...whatever was about to come. Something, Shio was sure. He didn't know what, but whatever this beast was about to do, it wouldn't end well. He swung his zanpakuto around in a wide circle once, creating an oddly egg-like shape around himself, this time. The barriers were connected by a thin band of wax this time, just barely visible in the light.
The light that suddenly increased to painful, burning levels. The light that blasted all else from his mind. The light that left Shio unable to think, unable to breathe or respond at all. He felt himself pressed against the closest of the barriers, eyelids closing reflexively...but it may have been too late. He may already have been blind. The blast slammed into his barrier, forcing it against the opening into another dimension, squeezing him through like a grape through a mouth. And like a grape, Shio would be smashed flat within seconds, in this new world. He impacted forcefully, the wax crumbling around him, melting once more into nothingness. And this time as he hopped into the air, crossing it like steps, he felt...oddly at peace.
His comrades may have been dead. Or they may have survived, fully intact. Or the Kido Soshi may have left their last ally to his grisly fate, arriving at the last second. But none of that mattered anymore, did it? Did it really change anything, whether or not he knew what would happen two or three moments from now? All he knew was that there was a job before him, and there was no one else to do it. This beast was...powerful. That much was obvious. And if he was any judge, now was the perfect time for a counterattack.
He ducked back through the garganta, his uniform singed and still racing with flames. His eyes were still sightless, his face burned red and bubbling up angrily from the damage done. He wasn't even sure he'd survive the strain it'd take to recite the incantation. But now, filled with the strange sense of...zen. The words seemed to fall into his head, like dice rolling along. He spoke clearly, his voice ringing out through the barrier. Even reaching to the ground below. It was his voice, but...moreso. It was a voice with confidence, a voice with purpose. It was the voice one would expect from a shinigami.
"The crest of turbidity, seeping out. An insolent vessel of madness. Boiling up, denying, numbness, blinking, obstructing slumber. The steel princess who creeps. The mud doll, ever disintegrating. Unite! Oppose! Filling the earth, know your own impotence! Hado number 90: Kurohitsugi!"
Nothing, for a moment or two...just a quiet, pregnant silence. Shio wasn't even sure he'd oriented on the proper spot for his attack, being forced to rely primarily on his ability to sense reaitsu. But his opponent, seemingly certain in its triumph, wouldn't work that hard to hide its presence any longer...would it? Surely he had the right target in mind. Surely he wouldn't waste-
No. No, there was no room for doubt here. Doubt would shatter the hado's effects. He inhaled once more, screaming with a voice that nearly tore his throat muscles, sending a fine haze of blood into the air.
"Hado number 90! Black Coffin!"
The first flickers of black flames, tinged nearly purple at the edges, appeared around the adjuchas's feet ever so slowly, almost lazily. One almost could've believed this was a new star coming to life...until the flames suddenly began to shoot upwards, forming a box that consumed nearly half of the barrier itself, terminating only at the very top. Upward escape would've simply ended in a nasty headache, before hundreds upon hundreds of thick projectiles, made of the same darkened materials, slammed into the box, skewering it from head to toe. Shio stood with his hands outright, blood trickling down from his lips as he waited for some sign...any sign at all.
Blind, shrouded in absolute silence, Shio could feel oblivion pressing in from the outside. But he would not let his light be snuffed out like this. He had fought for this moment, for this day. He had fought to become a shinigami, for just this purpose...and now he had it. He wouldn't crack first. He couldn't.
Description: By flicking his zanpakuto at the same time he snuffs out the wick, Shio is able to cause a sizable portion of wax to land in front of him, which rises almost immediately into the shape of a doorway. This allows him to effectively block enemy attacks, taking roughly the same time it would to fire a Cero. The candle creates effectively limitless wax, allowing him to use this technique as many times as he deems necessary while released within coodown limits. The walls last for a maximum of 2 posts, and cooldown for 4.
Name: Hadō #90 Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin)
Class: Kido
Tier: VI
Type: Offensive
Range: Medium (40m)
Incantation: The crest of turbidity, seeping out. An insolent vessel of madness. Boiling up, denying, numbness, blinking, obstructing slumber. The steel princess who creeps. The mud doll, ever disintegrating. Unite! Oppose! Filling the earth, know your own impotence!
Description: Forms a box 20 metres squared with a height of 30 metres of black energy around a target at Cero speed. This is then pierced by dozens of 20m long black energy "spears", to lacerate the one inside from head to toe. The box and spear is flame-like and so it can be escaped, but Tier IV will be sustatined and equally advantaged opponents will suffer second degree burns. With incantation, the spears and the box are solid, the former given additional piercing qualities. In order to escape a Tier VI technique must be used to create a gap, but won't suffer any burns.
No more roars. No more stars. No more rain of bala or blasts of cero. Even what wisps were left of the gaseous nebula float away in the air.
There was just silence.

In another place...
A man awakes from a centuries long nightmare. A nightmare of blood and hunger, white sands and an inverse moon. He's not alone. There's others with him, dozens, hundreds. Each seems as dazed and confused as he is. Does he know them? He feels like he should, but.... no, no he doesn't.
There are people in black uniforms. He doesn't know them either. The give each of people a ticket, a direction and a number. Then they walk.
He doesn't know this place.
He doesn't know these people.
He doesn't know what happened.
Oddly though... he's ok with that.
He wasn't hungry. That was important. He didn't know why, but that was so very, very important right now. No hunger, no noise, just this beautiful night with the moon shining down on him.
When he got to where the ticket told him to go there was light. A small, cheery inn with the smell of warm food drifting from it. Ah~ But he wasn't hungry. There were voices too, voices raised up in laughter, singing, and good cheer. It brought a smile too his face.
There was no more worry, no more fear. There was nothing eating away at his mind, no need for all the ridiculous mental acrobatics to try and turn the face of the person before him into the face of evil.
There was only darkness.
It was oddly liberating, he found.
Shio's minds' eye flourished, giving him a clear view of the two shinigami still alive and well, for a given value of well; his barrier, slightly more flimsy than the wax constructs formed from his own shikai, were suffering burns across most of their body, rather than just the face as Shio did. He disappeared in another flicker of motion, plucking them both up and carrying them across his shoulder like sacks of meal. He was silent even as the others zipped past, clearly prepared to close the entry-way before another creature arrived. He oriented on Blodeuwen's reaitsu, and with another flickering motion landed just before her, placing both of the other shinigami on the ground between them, and bowing his head.
For some reason, he wasn't even worried anymore. He seemed beyond worry at this point, after he'd just taken down an adjuchas-level hollow. Or perhaps it was the adrenaline fighting its constant battle against the pain. Or perhaps it was simply that Shio couldn't tell just how angry the Kido Soshi must have been at that exact moment. He'd even shut his minds' eye off, allowing himself to be as blind to reishi as he was to matter, simply staring dead ahead at the spot where Blodeuwen should've been. He inclined his head ever so slowly, and finally spoke. His voice was still firm and in control, laced with a lesser quality of that same steel he'd carried just a moment ago.
"Soshi Hirashi. The threat has been eliminated. Did you have any other orders for me?"
Post by Blodeuwen Hirashi on Feb 26, 2016 4:04:40 GMT
Blodeuwen watched the fight with rapt eagerness. This was obviously no lightweight opponent for them, and she winced as they appeared to be taking a pummeling. She couldn't help but feel slightly that Shio was holding back but with his life on the line that would be stupid and irresponsible so she figured that he was giving it his all. Eventually the hollow created an enormous explosion which hardly dented her barrier but would have been horrific for those trapped inside and she had to stop the two holers from jumping in to help. She bade them to wait, and so they did and she was glad of it, for what she saw next surprised her and pleased her.
She heard the muffled incantation- impossible to misinterpret and this time she got to his feet, concerned that the shinigami was going to kill himself. But he did it- he executed a, perhaps not textbook, but workable and deathly effective Kurohitsugi. The holers looked at her in alarm that a level 90 had had been used- that was unusual, but it seemed to do the job and the corpse of the hollow dropped down, pierced like a pin cushion at the bottom of the barrier as Blod could just about see the shinigami heading down towards her. She shut off the barrier, allowing them to exit and the dust of the hollow to drift away upon the wind and Kíla and Thíla raced upwards with their needle and thread and with practiced precision began to sew the hole back together using specialized kido. The shinigami landed before her, all half dead- she noticed Shio seemed to be blind. She healed him as best she could- though he would still be unable to see and his more grievous wounds would remain, before healing the others.
"That was a very impressive kido." she remarked, impassively. "Kíla and Thíla will escort you to the fourth division when they are done. I must leave- your friend is in woeful peril."
