BATTLE SYSTEM
On Bleach Society RP, these are the general guidelines we use for roleplay battles between characters in conjunction with the laws set by the Bleach universe. This especially regards pre-planned actions and sequences of events set up in battle posts.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS
Before fighting can even begin, the difficulty levels that are outlined in [The Rules] must be followed so that people aren't attacked or in fights they shouldn't be. Before anything, these must be considered first.
BSRP FIGHTING BASICS
1) Injuries are the make or break and major factor for determining the winner of a fight. There are no reiryoku pools on BSRP, meaning that although you can use techniques as often as you like (cooldowns notwithstanding), you will only get exhausted if you wish to.
Thus the severity of injuries must be dealt with realistically. In canon, sure you can have your own swimming pool of blood before you die, but you cannot here. Every race has normal human limitations (excluding e.g. High Speed Regeneration). For example if you lose a finger, or break a toe it's no big deal, if uncomfortable. However if your arm is hacked off that's a different matter; you can still fight but if you don't stop that bleeding, you'll pass out from anemia or blood loss.
Therefore if you lose both arms, both legs or even both eyes this is the equivalent of a death sentence under normal circumstances (exceptions include tetraplegics and others used to less limbs). Remember that even using one limb puts you at a disadvantage until you can get it restored as your body is too conditioned to fight with all your limbs to figure out how to counter with one gone. This adjustment cannot happen instantly; even one armed/ one legged/ blind fighters have had to train and get accustomed to their disability.
2) Metagaming is banned. This is an "out of character" action where a player's character makes use of knowledge that the player is aware of but that the character is not meant to be aware of. An example would be A sneaking up on B and B dodging an attack without knowing there was someone behind them.a) By extension, your character will never explicitly know what kinds of effects they are under immediately should you be affected by things that work in the environment around you. This includes illusions.3) God modding is also banned hardcore. This is where you're controlling the other parties character during the fight. Stating your attack as undodgeable or unblockable is also considered indirect godmodding as you're controlling what the other person can and can't dodge or block. Scenarios can be created where opponents can be hard pressed to escape, but your attacks themselves cannot be impossible to dodge or block.
b) The amount of time that is reasonable for a character to figure out an ability differs from person to person and tech to tech. For poisons this is roughly when you feel strong nausea (rather than minor coughing). But for illusions you have to reach a point where you realize reality isn't functioning as it should.
4) Any action found in a fight that even slightly resembles god modding or metagaming will render that action null and make the char performing it completely open to any attack. This is not negotiable or reversible. If your opponent is a friend or you're someone who does not wish to make the choice, staff will choose instead. If staff is involved, the choice will remain with the member who was the target of the meta-gaming.
5) In all fights, Advantages determine the outcome, whether its Cero vs Bala, or a fist vs a sword. However you can still win the fight if you watch yourself and back your opponent into a corner. Advantages are not guarantees, but they make it more likely that your ability will win. More details on how advantages work can be found in the [Advantage System]
6) In all cases, if you feel someone has wronged you, or ignored portions of your post that were relevant, please try and communicate with the other party to reach an agreement before coming to staff. If you cannot resolve it between you, post an objection in the [Objection Board] to direct staff to your thread.
REQUIRED ETIQUETTE
1) Your attacks and how they are forming/flying/launching need to be detailed enough so that people can react to them properly. Poorly written or poorly detailed techniques often cause confusion from the other party, so instead of simply linking, it is suggested that you put some detail of how it works in your actual post.
2) All things listed below will be required for you to state upon your opening post to any combat thread, or thread where combat is enabled. Anything not stated in this opening post, will be assumed you do not have on your person, and thus will be unavailable to you:a) Amount of weapon items, such as Ginto tubes, Seele Schneider's, custom crafted items, and ammunition. If you are carrying a sizable amount of items, you need to have something to hold them in, or just have them cleverly stashed on your person.3) You are required to use the spoiler or quote box tag with any techs or items you are using in the posts you use them. This is to ensure that we as staff do not have to go back to peruse your profile for said attack, and your opponent knows what is coming at him.
b) Character listed main weapons such as Zanpakutou, Quincy Crosses etc will automatically be assumed to be carried by them at all times for all Classic/Core characters, unless stated otherwise. You are not obligated to list any of the techniques on your profiles either.
c) Any Passive abilities are automatically assumed to be suppressed unless stated otherwise - from whence they're 'activated', then they are constantly active and cannot be turned off until the fight or thread ends.
GENERAL ADVICE
1) If you do not respond to an opponent's attack or action, then it's considered an auto-hit or happens regardless.
2) Pay attention to as many things about your opponent as you can! This includes their posture, their moves, their muscles etc. Just before sure to include Awareness and Response. Awareness is simple - Where are you? Where is your opponent? How far away are you from him? Response is basically what you want to do in reply to awareness - So are you gonna fight him up close? Are you gonna fight him from afar ? Is he attacking?
3) Watching the Bleach anime is also a good way of getting a feel for how fights can work in terms of movement and ability, so stay as informed as you can if you're new to the series.
4) Be wary of how many actions your opponent is making, as well as how many you're making. No one can simultaneously spam a load of Bala and release Bankai and summon some Tier III summons whilst setting up a Bakudo as a safeguard. Try to stick to 1-3 actions at the most, as your opponent can easily be interrupted in the middle of one of their many actions. Form a solid offense instead of trying to account for everything for example.
Example:"X fires a Kido at Y, and then X kicks Y, and then X proceeds to prepare a counter by crouching and holding his/her hands forward to grapple a possible combo by Y."The simplest way to discourage preemptive actions is to make people have to follow through with their intended action. If they say they are preparing a counter, and state they are facing the enemy ready, then it's their own fault if the enemy responds by moving direction or shifting out of the 'prepared radius'.
This means that Y now has the opportunity to completely bypass that lead-on preparation, by doing something that results in X being left undefended, such as:
"Y dodges the Kido, Y Shunpo's behind X, and Y proceeds to kick X in the back of the head as X is left crouched looking at where Y had been like a fool."
DEATH: ATTACKS AND DEFENSE
1 - Making Death Attacks When you wish to make a death attack on another character, you must use the following template below. Remember the particular line you feel will be the Death attack needs to have that on top and then the paragraph to attack.
Death AttackDeath Attack
Example scenario:2 - Responding to an Attack Should you have a thread active and someone makes a maiming or death attack on you, you have a week to respond or the attack itself lands and you are crippled or expired. However, situations will be graded on a case by case basis and there will be room for exceptions as a result.
Byakuya watched as the Arrancar swirled and tried to make a swipe at his head. The buffoon was indeed foolish to think such weak tactics would work on him. He used a simple Shunpo to disappear and reappear behind the Arrancar while the Arrancar would still be in motion making it a lot more harder for him to dodge even if he knew where Byakuya was.
Death Attack
Byakuya as the Arrancar continued in a forward motion with his sword in his right hand, just went forward in a stabbing motion at the base of the skull where the Arrancar Spinal cord would start, If pierced certain death awaited him.
If you make a death attack there is no response or the attack is allowed through, post in the Death Request board with the correct Template.
A Mod will watch and pass judgment on your opponent's fate. Don't make a death request after every single attack; wait for your opponent to post the defense to that attack you made. if you disagree with their Death Defense or their response, make a thread in the Objection Board.
3 - Making a Death Defense If you're under attack by a Death Attack and don't want to die, you can make a Death Defense so you can survive. When you wish to make a Death Defense, use the following template below and remember that the line you feel will be the Death attack needs to have that on top and then the paragraph to attack.
Death DefenseDeath Defense
Example scenario:
The Espada just laughed as he unleashed a wave of Bala at Byakuya, he suddenly used Sonida while Byakuya would be busy figuring out what to do with the barrage of Bala coming at to appear about 2 meters to Byakuya's right well away from the path of the Bala's he unleashed at him.
Death Attack
He gave a sadistic grin as he unleashed a powerful Cero, in his mind Kuchiki Byakuya should be dead. If the Cero hit it would disintegrate him instantly.
Byakuya watched as a blast of Bala appeared in front of him but he was well aware of his surroundings, he felt the spirit pressure of the Espada change, it was coming from a different direction. He turned in time to watch the grin and a oncoming Cero.
Death Defense
A singular well timed Shunpo would have him go above the Barrage of Bala's and Cero. The resulting cataclysmic explosion would surely blind the Espada, this would be his chance to attack now as he uttered the dangerous phrase...Bankai!
4 - Making a Subdue Attack If you are trying to kidnap or otherwise capture a character, it requires something more than merely to maim them, but less than a full on death attack. In these cases, you can make a Subdue Attack, whereby you attempt to knock out or otherwise restrain your opponent.
Subdue AttackSubdue Attack
5 - Making a Subdue Defence Similarly to a death defence in order to defend oneself from being subdued, one must make a subdue defence.
Subdue DefenceSubdue Attack
The rules that govern Subdue Attack and Defence are similar to those that cover Death Attack and Defence.
