Retsu Unohana noted it was a fairly cool day within Karakura as she took her last step from the Senkaimon, the opening in the dimension closing as the doorway faded away as if it was not even there. Clad in a gigai to blend in with the rest of humanity, the woman couldn’t help but to rub her hands across her arms in an attempt to get warm. The temperature didn’t seem to change too much within Seireitei and provided a comfortable climate at nearly all times. Earth, on the other hand, went through seasons. Though it was cold enough to condense her breathe into noticeable vapor, she was thankful it was snowing or anything else of the sort. After all, it was one of her days off.
Taking a step towards the edge of the building she appeared on, she peered down at the busy city streets and could hear the sounds that came with it. The chatter of people, the honking of horns, and movement of traffic overtop of asphalt. Though it was a world she had visited on the occasion, each time was rare in itself. Oh how fast humans seemed to evolve. She could still remember back to times when horse carrage was still “all the rage.”
As she made her way down by elevator and joined in the migration of folks along the sidewalks, the woman wished that she had dressed a tad bit warmer. Her torso was covered by nice jacket with charcoal accents, buttons, and cuffs, but its fabric was a little on the thin side for this time of year. Legs were concealed underneath a long flowing skirt, a slight slit along the side to allow for even better movement. Socks took the form of thigh-high stockings that ended in a fairly comfortable pair of slightly heeled boots. Lastly, her hair was styled in its traditional manner with the braid falling in the front – mostly out of habit really.

Kasumi Hisakawa
Kasumi walked amongst the streets of Karakura Town. It was the weekend and she didn’t have any college classes, as well as not having any friends around, it had been quite some time since Asuka and her had met and she seemed to be a bit lost now without anyone to talk to. The weather outside was verging on fall into winter, the temperature too cold for Kasumi’s normal attire and instead now she wore pants and a shirt accompanied by a heavy jacked on top.
Winter was always one of her least favorite times of the year, it made even just walking around a hassle let alone doing anything productive, but even so what was the girl supposed to do? Was she just to sit at home and doing nothing? She had already trained so much in past days that it too had become more of a chore in its feeling than anything else, and that was far from what she had hoped it to be.
As the young girl walked through the town a figure, a women, seemed to stand out to her for some reason. In all reality it was probably her dress, clearly not at all prepared for the climate she was currently in. Was she a foreigner or was she simply that out of tune with what is appropriate to wear? It was hard to say. As she walked and passed the woman Kasumi couldn’t help but stop for a moment and look back, attracted to her for some unknown reason. People bumped into her here and there as they tried to get by, Kasumi apologizing briefly before turning around herself and beginning to walk in the direction of the woman. There was something odd about her, something that made her magnetic to Kasumi, but she couldn’t quite figure it out.
There was no harm in some slight stalking, right? Besides Kasumi had some skills if things got messy or confrontational. Though she hoped it wouldn’t, she kept her distance, just enough to keep the intriguing woman in her line of view as she watched what she would do next.
Unohana continued along her little path, dodging people through the crowded walkways as she took in the sights. Her absence from the human world had caused so much to change. Everything from the types of stores to the vehicles on the streets had seemed to become modified since her last time here. Of course, she really didn’t count the encounter in Fake Karakura. That after all wasn’t a time to sight see. She had very important matters to take to while within the city such as saving the lives of her injured companions, both current and formally. She had to admit it wasn’t every day she held the opportunity to help save a soul who had literally been ripped in half. Even that was a strain on the potential of her abilities.
As she made her way down the sidewalk, she eventually turned and entered a simple connivence store. She had heard of the wondrous mentioning of tales of the types of snacks here from Yamada Hanataro. He seemed quite abundantly impressed by the fact that humans stored juice within boxes and pouches to be consumed whenever as opposed to freshly squeezed. As she searched through the isles, she carefully placed the times within a simple carrying basket. Juice, strange fizzy drinks with a steel ball within it, pastries wrapped within plastic, and even a couple rolls of sushi was all gathered before purchasing and exiting the store.
The woman was quite aware she was being followed. Though the girl did not resonate any noticeable spiritual energy, she supposed her own enticed her. Even with the Gentei Kaijo that limited her powers by 80% and the surpassing qualities of her gigai, she still held some power to her. Eventually, using the crowd for her assistance, she would step out of sight only to reappear behind the young girl a few moments later.
“Might I ask to why you are following my dear?” questioned Unohana with her friendly face. Her eyes were shut and her head tilted as a smile formed itself across the length of her lips.

Kasumi continued to follow the woman through the busy streets of the town, dodging this person and that as she tried to retain her view as well as keep a good distance behind the woman so she wouldn’t be noticed. It sure was good that Kasumi had no plans or obligations today; otherwise she might have gotten into some heavy trouble for just ignoring them for something so unusual and trivial. She had no plans though so the stake out continued as the two of them came to a convenience store and the young woman walked in.
An odd spot to stop, though people came and went through it all the time, it just didn’t seem the place that Kasumi pictured this girl going to, but then again could she really say she knew where this woman would go? She didn’t even know what it was that compelled her to follow her, no instead she simply continued to follow her drawn by some unknown pull, some mysterious feeling she couldn’t place. So instead of questioning it she went with her gut, she embraced it and continued to follow the girl even into the convenience store as she watched the woman casually shop. Maybe…maybe there wasn’t anything to this…maybe she was just a simple person who happened to catch Kasumi’s eye and within that quick moment of reflection the woman was gone, out of eyesight and as quick as she disappeared it seemed she reappeared behind Kasumi, causing her to jump slightly as she spoke.
“I…I..oh…” Kasumi stammered still taken aback that she had so easily lost track of the woman, she sure could move fast. As she looked at the woman she took in the smile, it was a nice smile yet something about it certainly made one feel uneasy at the same time, yet another mystery Kasumi could not answer.
What was the best course in this action? To lie maybe? Would that even work now? What other option did the girl have though? She couldn’t just come out and say that she for some reason found the woman interesting so she proceeded to stalk her that certainly wouldn’t have any positive outcomes.
“I. I wasn’t following you. Maybe we were both just headed to the same place? Kind of mean to presume such a thing, no?” Kasumi said with her own little smile.
She had decided to lie, though she was unsure how far that would even get her if anywhere, and she tried to relax her body having tensed upon being startled by the woman’s reappearance behind her.
The girl's sudden surprise earned a soft giggle from the Captain as her eyes loomed over her frame. She seemed to be a mere mortal with no true talent outside of a determined desire to follow her every movement. Oh, and a poor capability to tell a lie. Even with her vast age, it did not take much effort on her part to see right through it. "Well, if you say so. But if you are going to tell fibs, you might want to place more confidence in your words," spoke the woman with a kind grin as she reached down into her bag to grab a juice pouch and a small boxed apple pie pastry. Offering one to her little stalker, she would pull the straw out of the wrapper and eye the pouch with a bit of confusion. To be quite honest, she was not quite sure where to place the cylindrical object in order to enjoy the contents. She probably should had queried Hanataro for a bit more information. Such an embarrassing act did make her cheeks flush a soft shade of red.
Taking in a soft breath, she would shift her focus back on the other female. "I am not quite from this area. Is there anything of interest I should take note of before I make my leave this evening?" she questioned as she abandoned trying to get her drink open and instead focused on the pie. With the drink pouch in one hand, she would use her other to bring the pastry up to her lips to take a small nibble. Instantly her eyes lit up at the explosion of flavor. Humans loved to use their sugar and it certainly made everything have a wondrous taste to it. She could see why so many of them tended to reach levels of obesity so frequently. Before she knew it, the pie was completely consumed and not even a crumb was left behind. Maybe she should have ate before she left. Because honestly, she wouldn't mind to have some more.
"Oh, and where are my manners! I am Retsu Unohana. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance."

Kasumi Hisakawa
This woman was odd, or so Kasumi thought, she laughed quite a bit and her smile was certainly unusual. Embarrassed at being called out on lying to the woman, who by this point was more than positive of Kasumi’s stalking, she while looking down at the ground took hold of the food that the woman offered her.
“Thank you.” She said calmly, but with a hint of a depressed tone.
She slowly turned her head back up to the woman to see too that she was blushing, but whatever the reason was it seemed as though Kasumi had missed it during her brief watching of the ground. Though it did certainly intrigue her as to what it might have been that caused it, there was seemingly no words between them to warrant such a thing. Kasumi shook off the idea though, pushing it to the back of her mind as she listened as the young woman spoke again.
“Oh. So you’re a tourist? Why come here?” Kasumi asked curiously somewhat ignoring the woman’s question initially.
“I mean I guess you have every right to, but it’s certainly not the most fascinating of places. Like most big-little towns. Enough bustle to make it plenty with people but not enough to make you want to hate yourself.”
Kasumi started to eat the pie that had been handed to her by the woman, pausing for a moment to swallow before speaking again quickly.
“I mean there must have been something you wanted to see here other than this convenience store if you decided to visit her, no? So what was it that you wanted to see? If you’re lost perhaps I can help you out some.” Kasumi said, the last part of it she spoke a bit quieter than the rest. She wasn’t one to often find herself giving advice and help to random strangers, but something about this woman seemed different, and ever since some time ago she seemed to find herself appealing to her more mannered side.
After all what was the worst that could end up happening?
Unohana lightly shrugged at her shoulders. “Well, I just needed some time away and this was the place that fate lead me towards. It seems to be a pleasant enough town: large enough to have things to do while small enough to allow people to be humble. Plus, the big cities tend to be a bit too noisy and concrete for my liking. Nature is beautiful and its a shame it must be sacrificed for human inhabitants. Don’t you agree? At least here you can see your occasional tree here and there,” she replied back as she gave her drink another attempt, luckily figuring it out after about three failed attempts. Her first sip filled her mouth with quite a bit of flavor, but it was not something she particularly enjoyed. It was just too sour! Nevertheless, she spent her money on it so she would gradually nurse on it as the day went on. No reason to be wasteful after all!
“I really haven’t been here very much at all so I am not quite sure as to what is here and what isn’t. So if you could be my little guide, I would greatly appreciate it. Please, lead the way. I am sure I can find enjoyment in at least some manner no matter our destination.” Giving the girl a slight nod of her head, certainly awaiting her to set forth the proper measures to guide one another among. “After all, you are a local I presume? We always could start with a few places that you like to go to? I’m sure a lass such as yourself has plenty of hobbies that you love to occupy yourself with.”
The woman would take a few steps forward, only to look back should the girl not attempt to follow. While she admitted that she wasn’t quite sure whether or not the human wished to continue time spent with her, Unohana had to admit that she did find her interesting. After all of the individuals upon the city streets, was it her that she chose to follow. Could she sense her energy? Or was she just that fascinating to look at? She did suppose her forward braid was a bit of an odd fashion choice within the human world. Maybe it was because of that?

Kasumi listened patiently as the woman spoke. Her words seemed truthful enough, but at the same time they seemed to hold a sense of a lie within them. As though the woman was trying to make Kasumi as well as herself believe what she was speaking. However, despite that feeling the words of Retsu were certainly logical and there was no doubting there meaning itself would make sense had anyone else had spoken them. Kasumi though couldn’t help but through away the feeling there was more to it though, but she wouldn’t press it any further as it seemed the woman was not angry with her for her “stalking” as it were anymore.
“Yes. I suppose you are right. The bigger cities certainly are a pain to be around when all you want to do is go for a walk, though they are great when you are looking for a nice bit of excitement.” Kasumi said with a little smirk. She watched as Retsu seemed to be struggling with her drink, it was odd to watch though she didn’t bring attention to it, she couldn’t help but think how odd this woman really was that she had followed.
“A lass…sure…” Kasumi said questioning the odd speech pattern of the woman. “Well I’m not the most typical of girls I guess then because the places I like to hang out aren’t the most typical. I tend to hang out a lot at the gym practicing and training…though the way there is a nice walk, so maybe something along the way will strike your fancy to visit perhaps.”
In all reality Kasumi at that moment realized how accustom to her daily routines she had become, so accustom that anything new seemed wildly exciting, and yet at the same time when asked was exciting to do around town she could not answer. It was quite the conundrum and it both confused and made her laugh.
“Am I leading now or you?” Kasumi said with a smirk as she passed Retsu in the brief moment the woman had paused and looked back.
“Let’s go.” Kasumi said, as she would begin to lead the way through the city towards one of the local gyms she enjoyed visiting and training at.
{Notes}Feel free to point something out Unohana might see in the city that would interest her or what not, if not I'll think of something too to come along while they walk the city, haha.
