As the sky darkened into the evening hours, Arthur was perched atop the roof of a local shop, longbow held tightly in his left hand as he surveyed the streets below. It was an uncomfortably still night -- almost no wind, and not much activity in the surrounding area. It was eerie, in a sense, but he couldn't allow himself to relax; hostility was very likely near. He had sensed the nearness of a Hollow not long ago, and as best as his average abilities could detect, Shinigami didn't seem to be particularly active in this part of town; with a lack of Shinigami presence and a weaker-grade Hollow, the young Quincy had figured this might be as good a chance of any to "stumble" upon one of his kind. Back home in England, raised in a family of Quincy, he had known most of his comrades around him -- however, since coming to Japan, he had had little, if any, contact with the local Quincy population. Each time he'd had a run-in with a Hollow, he had resolved the conflict himself or fallen back in the face of a Shinigami.
Tonight, he was on the prowl -- and if what he'd learned by keeping his ear to the ground was true, he might find himself in the presence of a fellow Quincy this evening. Arthur knew that he could only remain an isolated solo actor for so long. Eventually, he was going to have to make friends and alliances, and find his way in what seemed to be a spiritual "hot zone" compared to his English roots. Bow at the ready, he waited... Sensing through the area for Hollow and Quincy alike.

The display of power was... chilling. Was it power? Or was it bestial savagery? Arthur couldn't quite tell, but as he watched the man who showed up to eradicate the Hollow, he couldn't help but feel a chill of unease. Was that mean even a Quincy, wielding those bizarre chainsaw-like swords? It was unlike anything he'd seen.
"That was quite a display," he said matter-of-factly, touching down softly behind the cackling chainsaw-wielder. His bow was out, but held at his side, making a clear statement that his intentions weren't hostile. Arthur's eyes locked on Alex from behind, still unsure of what to make of him.
He continued: "Those weapons are.. Unorthodox, from what I'm accustomed to. But judging by the feeling of that reiatsu, it seems unmistakable that you're a fellow Quincy."
Certainly, in all his time in England, Arthur had never seen a Quincy wield a weapon of that sort -- or fight with such an unhinged personality. Was this normal in Japan? Were the British Quincy just unusually reserved? He didn't say anything else, but waited for Alex's response. This was his first significant encounter with a Quincy since coming to Japan, and he was still doing his best to size him up.

Not only did this man fight with weapons and a style that was unfamiliar to Arthur, but he didn't seem to conduct himself much like a Quincy, either. Were it not for the unmistakable feel of his Reiatsu, he would have questioned if the man in front of him really was one. Sure, Japan was quite a bit different from England, but still... Could all Japanese Quincy really be this abrasive? Certainly not... Arthur banished the thought.
"Well," he began, the bow fading out of existence as he spoke, now unarmed, "I was raised in England, with a small enclave of Quincy there... Since coming to Japan, I haven't had much contact with others of our kind. I've been lurking around a bit, hoping to fix that."
On the surface, it could have sounded weak -- almost like he was just a lonely kid looking for some friends. But there was enough confidence in Arthur's tone of voice that iwa s clear there was no insecurity in those words. He didn't want compassion -- he wanted allies. Of course, judging by his first impressions here, he was having some minor doubts as to whether that was truly a good idea...
"Arthur Fujimiya is the name... And meeting an ally is always a pleasure."

((Sorry for the delay.. Went out of town for the weekend!))
Alexander didn't have to talk long for Arthur to realize that he didn't like his attitude. In England, such a coarse greeting would have been unacceptable; a certain degree of civility was a basic necessity between men, and Arthur was quickly understanding that social rules of engagement seemed to matter very little to this strange, blade-wielding Quincy. He nodded his head slightly at his introduction, half-confrontational as it was.
"Jumping the gun, you say? Or do you not see our mutual identity as Quincies as sufficient motivation to consider one another allies? I was always raised to believe that we should stick together whenever we can. There's strength in numbers, and that's something we don't often have."
It seemed like common sense to Arthur, at least -- why shouldn't they assume that they would cooperate and work together? There were enough different forces and factions that wanted to annihilate the Quincy for one reason or another, so it only stood to reason that they should band together. What more reason could they need? Still, Alexander seemed to dangle the opportunity to meet other Quincy as well; hopefully they had a bit more decorum than he did.
"Of course I'd like to meet more... That was my goal in approaching you, after all. I'd rather not fight like a lone wolf -- the more of our kind we can unite, the better. I'm assuming then, that you have some local connections? As you can imagine, I'm quite out of my element here."
