HISTORY

From the day Kyouko exited the womb, she was destined for greatness. Born to two parents whose names she has long forgotten, Kyouko was immediately thrust into a training program that taught young children how to be members of an elite organization called the KT Syndicate. Usually shortened to "The Syndicate", the group's main activities involved monitoring the Human World and disposing of any threats to humankind. These spiritually aware humans held firm in the belief that Humans were the one, true race, the dominant species. Well aware that their actions upset the balance of souls, their goal is to bring about the apocalypse through this imbalance and rid the world of everyone, even if it means killing Humans in the process. This psychotic brand of Nazism was a product of Kyouko's grandfather, who headed the organization. Having not only the information of this secret world thrust into her since day one, but a rather high IQ to match, meant that Kyouko was put in the Research & Development (KTSRD) section of the organization and was heading it by the time she was a teenager. Rumors began to circulate within the Syndicate that a member of the R&D team was kidnapping members and making them "disappear." When these rumors reached Kyouko's ears she went to investigate herself and it was there that her human powers unlocked themselves. They were forced out utilizing a device she herself had invented: Studying the fact that powers seemed to activate in highly emotional situations, she invented an object that would allow her to tamper with her own emotional state.

Killing the one conducting the experiments was no issue, but the very idea of using people to experiment on was adopted. By the time Kyouko reached her older, adult life, she had already utilized various Shinigami, Quincy, and even fellow Humans to help with her research. Because of these acts, Kyouko's codename was changed from "Candy Cane" (due to her frequency of having a candy cane in her mouth) to "Metzger", the German word for butcher. A few successful experiments later and Kyouko's reputation skyrocketed, due to having introduced the first kind of cyborg with traits from spliced races. It was a technical marvel and it was considered Kyouko's peak whilst working with the KT Syndicate in the R&D department. Eventually, having grown bored of her time there, Kyouko transferred to the Administrative division and spent most of her time sending people to different locations to gather information for her. Once she found out what Mod Souls were, she had one confiscated and placed into the plush cat that she always carried around. Rather than experiment on the poor thing, Kyouko decided to try and use her words for once to find out as much as she could about them. Pretty soon she grew a soft spot for the race and excluded it from her overbearing racism, although she still acted callous toward them as a whole. It was easier to try and recruit them anyways rather than destroy them.

Soon after kidnapping Shinigami from the Thirteenth Division, the KT Syndicate's activities were tracked by Shinigami of the Twelfth Division of the Gotei 13. Their HQ was raided, and Kyouko was forced (after having the ever loving Hell beaten out of her) to stand before the Captain of the Division. Rather than killing her off outright or choosing to experiment on her, Mayuri recognized her particular talents and invited her a position as a member of the Shinigami. Though she initially refused, it didn't take Kurotsuchi a lot of effort to get her on his side. After all, they were both scientists. Offering the chance to continue her pursuit of knowledge, Kyouko accepted the offer and underwent the process of becoming a Substitute Shinigami. Numerous members of the Twelfth Division were stunned silent, but Kyouko didn't seem phased at all. In fact, she haughtily proclaimed that she was the only member of Crisis Core that was destined to survive. Despite having gotten her badge after that point, Kyouko opted to utilize her pet mod soul in combat situations due to the fact that it was easier and it didn't leave her body at risk. Mastering her Zanpakutou was a lot more of a chore for her than her human powers, but perseverence and a few cheat devices that allowed her to train in secret and at an advanced rate allowed her to excel in this field.

As for Bankai, though her Zanpakutou spirit informed her of it's existence she politely declined. Why would she bother to achieve what's considered perfection? After all, to scientists perfection is despair.
