"Bankai," the female stated, "Tenkenyojo Raiu." Reiatsu burst free around her, manifesting around the Shinigami as dark gray streams that spiraled skyward, completely shrouding the girl for a few seconds. When it faded away, the Shinigami bore a different appearance. Blonde hair and violet blue eyes still remained, but her clothing had changed entirely. Instead of the h garb all the soul reapers wore, Rin was clad in metallic silver armor, the cold metal only broken by the various pieces of cloth dyed a deep purple. The armor was similar to that of Rin's Zanpakutou Spirit: a massive, intimidating metallic dragon whose inner body seemed to be composed of crackling purple lightning in its entirety.
Rin despised her bankai. Raiu told her it was only because she wasn't used to it, and that as she matured enough to effectively wield this overwhelming power, she wouldn't hate it so much. The armor was too constricting around her body, and it constricted her movements too much. The armor felt clunky, and just unnatural. She couldn't swing her sword as effectively as she could without the armor. She couldn't move as efficiently as she could with her Shikai.
"Miyagi-san!"
Her concentration snapped like a stretched rubber band finally being released at its zenith. Her head snapped behind her, and she saw one of her squad mates, one whom Rin had only sparred with once, and spoken with even less, stood meters away, outside the reach of Rin's sharp reiatsu, a hand shielding their eyes. The female Shinigami allowed her Bankai to fall away from her, and she resealed her release back into its sealed katana. Sheathing the weapon, she called the other over with a wave of her hand. "What is it?"
"The captain wants to see you. He says its urgent."
She nodded a sharp nod only once, before flashing away from the training grounds, jumping from the rooftops of the buildings in a single leap as she neared her barracks; Rin only slowed when she jumped from the roof and in front of the captain's quarters. Pausing outside the door, Rin raised a fist to rap against the structure a few times to alert her captain to her presence.

Toshiro stood at his desk, reading over page after page of the report in front of him. It would seem that recent disturbance in the Rukongai district had proven more dire than initially anticipated. What was at first considered simply violence and aggression amongst the citizens themselves was quickly proven wrong with help from the twelfth squad. It had seemed as though indications of hollow presence and sightings had been seen in various close proximity districts. The damage and condition of the areas had not yet been assessed and the task of both reconnaissance and destroying of the hollow had been assigned to the Tenth’s captain with the explicit orders that it should neutralized as quickly as possible with as little damage as possible.
Toshiro had gathered a grouping of members from the division for this task, however there was one missing member he wanted in as well, he had sent word out for other members to find her. Once she was in place they would be able to start on this mission, her strengths would be valued this time and certainly would allow for them to more effectively resolve this issue.
However, Toshiro could not help but feel a bit on edge, hollow arriving in soul society were an anamoly. They were full well of what could and certainly would occur if they were caught, and they most always were, for a hollow to want to take on such a mission they would need to either be foolish and reckless, or confident in their strengths to deal with the potential issues that come with it. Toshiro had hoped for the former of the two and placed down the report with a sigh as he finished reading it over.
Only a moment passed though before Toshiro felt the close presence of another Shinigami and then came the knocking on the door. Toshiro walked over to the door calmly opening it for Rin, who he was waiting on.
“Welcome Miyagi-san. We need to discuss something quickly, time is of the essence.” Toshiro said calmly as he walked back to his desk, waiting for Rin to follow in suit so that he could begin the briefing.
One of the reasons Miyagi chose to join the tenth division right after she graduated from the Academy was because of its captain. While many of her fellow classmates enjoyed the more laid back atmospheres of divisions like the eighth or fifth, Rin did not. She preferred a more disciplined division, where it was frowned upon to laze around doing nothing. Rin was the kind of person who preferred structure and punctuality to tranquility and laziness. And Hitsugaya was nothing if not punctual; he slid the door open only moments after Rin raised her hand to knock. She nodded her head to the captain in greeting, but did not do anything more formal than that; going off of the behavior of the squad mate sent to retrieve her, the last thing on the captain's mind was probably formality. The fact he started speaking shortly after he slid the door open certainly had something to do with it as well.
“Welcome Miyagi-san. We need to discuss something quickly, time is of the essence.”
The girl nodded, half turning towards the entrance with the intention of following the smaller male out, ready to shunpo to wherever their destination was located. Hitsugaya however, retreated further inside his office, instead returning back to his desk. Rin hesitated only a second, surprised, before she too followed the other into the office, and stood just in front of his desk. "What is it, Taichou?" The female caught a glimpse of a document with the corner of her eye, placed in a way that made the female wonder if it had just been discarded recently. Rin wondered if that had something to do with why she had been summoned here. It may have been the reason they hadn't left immediately after as well; perhaps there was something written on there he wanted her to read.
Then again, she could have misjudged the entirety of the situation too.

“Miyagi-san. I’ve called you here because I need your assistance in a mission that has come through.” Toshiro said calmly as he looked at his squad member in front of him.
Toshiro carefully picked up the document he had previously been reading, the limited details of the mission at hand. It briefly described the incident and small points of interest. Other than where they were to head and what vaguely they were searching for there was little information to be given. Toshiro handed said document to Rin though.
“Here is the small briefing I was given this morning relating to why I called you here. I need you along with the other members of the squad I’ve gathered to come with me for reconnaissance and extermination of a possible hollow threat in the Rukongai. As you can see not much information has been given to us, the surveillance of the twelfth as brought up a few various signature sighting, however there have been no confirmed visual sighting, so outside of sensing the reiatsu we are going in blind per say.”
Toshiro paused for a moment thinking in his mind as he talked to Rin the strategy in which they would use when going on said mission. He hated the mission in which he had little to no information it gave him little to work off of, and being a man of strategy it helped him even less. Toshiro sighed a moment, before continuing on his conversation with Rin.
“You’ve progressed well so far throughout your time in the squad, I’ve heard little to no incidents from you, as well as no issues on how you preform your duties. That being said you are currently one of the higher ranking members of the squad. It only seemed right that I chose you for this mission, this mission where the skill level cannot be determined based on the prior data.”
“Do you have any questions before we proceed?” Toshiro said calmly, looking at Rin, there was little he knew about her despite being in squad ten almost immediately upon graduating from the academy. She had no noticeable demerits or incidents he could recall, instead showing herself skilled to most any task assigned as of late. If anything this mission would provide him more information on how skilled she really was.
Rin took the document offered by her captain, and flipped through the meager data it provided. Her eyes widened in surprise when she realized just how little detail the document offered them. She knew better than to believe Hitsugaya had extra information that wasn't written in the document, but she listened as he explained the contents anyway, eyes reading along with the same information he spoke.
At least there were no misgivings where they'd start first: reconnaissance. After all, it was foolish to try and combat an opponent you knew nothing about. And that was only after you found it; there hadn't even been any visual confirmation on the creature's whereabouts.
Rin didn't wonder why she was chosen until he mentioned it, and her face remained stoic at his praise. "Thank you sir." Rin had always been distant, but to her, it allowed her to better handle more chaotic of situations, because she could think straight, cold logic dictating her thoughts. It was that same logic that allowed her to deduce, "In other words, we're just as likely to be facing a Vasto Lorde class hollow as we are a Gillian class one." She hated not having more information than this.
The blonde handed the document back. "Do you have a strategy in mind?" The way she saw it, there were two strategies they had: split up and cover more ground, or stick together and face the threat together. Both had their boons and banes, though it was clear one was safer than the other.

Toshiro remained quiet as he allowed Rin to look over the document. He knew there was not much more than what he had told her within, but waiting for her to finish was only the most formal of things to do and although he wanted to head out as quick as possible to get this mission underway and completely before more chaos could ensue he knew rushing his own squad members would only provide to agitate them more, ultimately making them potentially less effective when they got into a battle situation.
“Yes.” Toshiro responded solemnly, “I hope that is not the case, but from the little information we have it is impossible to even rule that out. The twelfth squad has been lacking in information for us for this mission, given how close the target it is that surprises me, though interacting with Captain Kurosatchi in any manner that might indicate he’s not preforming to optimal conditions is never a good route to go. So we are in the dark for now, if we are lucky maybe they will be able to find something out as we go.”
“If you are sure you are ready then let’s head out. We will first meet with the rest of the team outside of district from there we split from them to survey the area, preform some reconnaissance work if we run into a thread I am hoping that either grouping will be able to handle it long enough for the other to reform to their location. However outside of that we can’t decide on a plan much further until the other information is assessed about the target hollow.” Toshiro said with an icy tone to his words, lacking a bit of an emotional concept, more sticking to the speech of an instructor or military captain (of which he was). Toshiro secured his zanpakuto across his back and nodded at Rin as he walked towards the door headed to their meeting spot with the rest of the team they would be working with to solve this mystery. When they had arrived quickly just outside of their targeted area Toshiro was able to see the various members that were assembled to take on this mission. As he entered he was greeted with the man normal greetings a Captain received along with a bow here and there.
“Is everyone assembled and present?” Toshiro asked one of the men closest to him.
“Yes, it appears we are all here and prepared for further orders from you.” He said as he looked past the captain at his company that he had brought along with him.
“Good. If that is the case then, we have no time to waste. We will be splitting up. The four of you head out into the western division of the district. Meanwhile Miyagi-san and I here will head out into the eastern division. For now the mission is reconnaissance, no one is to engage the enemy without notifying me unless it is unavoidable. We want to gather information above all else now so we can assess the strength and difficulty of the potential mission at hand.” Toshiro said calmly, yet firm in his words.
“Yes, sir.” The four men announced as they looked at Rin more, a sense of jealously potentially that she got to work directly with the captain or maybe that she was the only female on the team. Regardless of the reason it didn’t matter Toshiro did not care the gender of the person, logically it was Rin who was the most skilled one for him to take on this mission.
Toshiro looked over at Rin, “Ready?”
He would wait until she confirmed before using shunpo to head off to the east on their mission.
After their briefing finished, the two Shinigami wasted little to no time getting to the area where they were meeting the other Shinigami from their division. Greetings were passed out briskly, and again, the captain did not waste time getting the mission underway. The battle plan was explained further, and Rin was surprised when he said she'd be accompanying him. She thought he would want her to lead the other reconnaissance team, considering the fact out of all the gathered subordinates, she was the most powerful. But like the others, Rin nodded her assent without voicing her concerns.
It was hard to miss the pointed looks the other four were shooting her. She chose to ignore them. If they were jealous, then they'd have to live with it. She trained long and hard to fight her way to the power she wielded today, and if they didn't take their training as seriously as she had, that was their own faults for not putting forth more effort. They only had their selves to blame.
"Ready, sir." She said instead of addressing the other four males.
Hitsugaya didn't even wait to see if the others would follow his commands, instead shunpoing after Rin had spoken. She figured he was confident enough in his subordinates to know they'd follow his directions without incident. It was probably the reason he'd chosen the five of them. Rin kept pace with the white haired captain easily (he was probably keeping his pace one Rin could easily match for her benefit), but the two still made good time, and it wasn't long before they arrived at their own destination.
Rin broke away from her companion, and used her flash step to carry her towards a partly destroyed roof. The building she balanced atop of had probably been either a house or a shop at one point, but now it lay in shambles. A piece of splintered wood jutted up from the wreckage, the very same piece Rin balanced upon. Her right foot was planted completely on the surface, but the back portion of her left hung off the back of it. Casting her gaze about, Rin took in the destruction that surrounded them. The damage was extensive, if put lightly. Rows upon rows of buildings lay in ruin, and a thick cloud of dust hung through the air like a shroud.
The damage looked like it'd been inflicted by something very large and very angry. She didn't see any signs of any fire: there was no dark smoke coiling angrily into the sky, nor did any of the wreckage sport burn marks. The tell tale sign of an orange hue was missing as well. What she could tell was a hollow had been through here, but Rin doubted it was still in the area. The hollow reiatsu was faint, with only trace amounts remaining. The meager traces she could sense didn't yield any information on what kind of hollow they were against, but if Rin had to guess, she would say it was fierce, large, and angry. Maybe Hitsugaya would be able to gather better clues from the reiatsu than she was able to.

As the two approached their destination Toshiro noticed the sudden movement of Rin away from himself, carrying her forward more, reappearing atop one of the nearby rooftops. Just by entering this section of the area the destruction was tremendous, buildings with roofs sheared off, others completely destroyed into the ground with nothing but rubble remaining. It was a devastating scene there was no doubt about that, but this was not the time to gather for a moment of silence Rin and himself had a mission to accomplish and surveillance and assessment of the current area was top priority. He took one more gaze upward at his partner as she balanced high above, clearly taking an ideal vantage point to the area in all directions. Toshiro could only imagine it was similar to what limited view he could see here.
However the buildings were not the saddest of sights in this area, not by far, for amongst the rubble and destroyed buildings it seemed there were some that had not been able to flee as quickly as the rest. Arms and legs sparsely throughout the rubble sticking out at all angles, however amongst all of it Toshiro could sense no signs of reiatsu or life, no sense of struggling, it seemed as though all that were in this area no longer lived and although searching throughout it, maybe it was possible people on their last breaths might be found they would not last long even with medical treatment. It seemed pointless to search.
Toshiro let out a sigh death had become too common place for the captain now, “Miyagi-san. Do you see anything of especial interest from up there?”
Toshiro walked forward into the realms of the destruction instead of remaining on its outskirts. The rubble surrounding him on all sides, it was clear, there were no sounds of a natural disaster here, not even pillaging or fire, no instead it must have been a hollow attack there was no questions about it. The reports though had been grossly vague on the damage that had been done. This was true devastation in its purest form only a beast could be responsible for. This was only affirmed by the slight hint of reiatsu he could pick up, presumably from the hollow that’s stench covered the area. The reiatsu though was distant at best and even for Hitsugaya himself it was tough to grasp any semblance of what it was they were facing. He could tell it was stronger than most low level hollow; however that could easily be seen by the mass amount of destruction in the area.
Although they had made quick speed in getting here it seemed as though they were too late to keep up with the rampage of the hollow. Toshiro continued to walk around, assessing the damage that lay around them, it would after all need entered into a report at a later date and on top of that he was hoping there would be something, anything that would give them more information on what they were to do or go, where the hollow was headed so maybe they could cut him off early.
Quickly the captain shunpo’d to a nearby rooftop, across from and down from the one Rin herself currently stood post. The view of the destruction certainly was stronger from this vantage point; all of it could be seen at once, all of it taken in, it was rather disturbing to say the least. However over in the distance to the edge of the forest it seemed as though the trees themselves had been disrupted, thrown aside even, though from this distance even it was vague at best to see what it really was.
“Miyagi-san. Do you see that over there?” Toshiro would shout as he pointed in the direction of his gaze. “What do you take of it? A lead or a red herring?”
There was nothing here. Nothing but the mindless destruction that surrounded the two Shinigami. And though Rin's instincts here screaming at her to hunt the beast down and slaughter it, Rin knew she couldn't. Even though there was the lingering reiatsu in the area, like the dead and dying left behind in its wake, the reiatsu would fade away soon. She wouldn't even know where to begin the hunt; the only real concrete evidence they had was useless to them. There was no need to know the hollow wasn't where they came from. There were too many variables for them to search, too many locations the hollow could be hiding. The power the two of them possessed between them was useless if they couldn't find the damn thing.
"Nothing Hitsugaya-taichou, other than traces of hollow reiatsu." Her voice remained neutral despite the frustration she felt at not being able to find the hollow.
Instead of giving chase, Rin cast her gaze about the destruction, blue eyes scrutinizing the surroundings she could see for some sort of clue the two of them could use as a starting point. A mindless beast would have left something to go off of, but unless it was buried under the rubble like countless of lives lost, Rin was not seeing anything. And though she could clearly see the destruction around her, Rin wasn't phased by it. Like many of her fellow comrades, Rin had grown accustomed to such grizzly sights long ago; it was a necessity that came with the job the Shinigami did, and it seemed that the more powerful a Shinigami was, the more destruction they were privy to.
"Miyagi-san. Do you see that over there?"
At the question, Rin glanced back at the male, her gaze quickly tracing the way he pointed. The trees looked like they'd been forcefully prated by something, likely something large and strong, judging by the odd, unnatural angles the trees had given way. The blonde was sure if they explored the forest, they'd find a lot of snapped twigs, twisted branches, and probably fallen trees as well. If this was left by the hollow they were searching for, did that mean it was a Gillian class? She doubted anything stronger would be mindless enough to brazen a path like that.
"Hard to say, but I don't see anything else even remotely resembling a lead anywhere else." The meaning of her reply was simple: I think we should follow it. That was if he was seeing something she wasn't. "Judging by the trees, if it is our hollow I would say it's most likely a Gillian class. Anything stronger and it wouldn't be big enough to forcefully part those trees that badly that we'd be able to see it over here." She paused, head cocking slightly as the female considered a different angle. "But if it is something stronger, it wouldn't leave that path unless it was either meant to throw us off, or it wanted us to misjudge its power." Either way, if it was something stronger than a gillian, that meant the hollow was intelligent, and probably manipulative too.
Post by Toshiro Hitsugaya on Sept 28, 2015 18:57:15 GMT
“Yes. I would presume the same.” Toshiro would say his tone distant and neutral in emotion.
It was true the way the trees were separated would certainly imply that whatever did it, either did it with no regard, meaning their bodies were big enough to push the them in such a manner, or the less favorable of the options that it was done on purpose. If this had been done on purpose it was clear the goal was to lure them towards that direction, the outcome would then be either the two of them finding nothing and wasting their time providing for the hollow to wreak more havoc or for them to be ambushed and overcome more easily. There was nothing the two Shinigami could do though, both Rin and Toshiro had no other leads to work off of and were going to lose any kind of trail if they didn’t act with speed.
“Our only option right now I believe is to head towards our only lead, but be on your guard Miyagi-san. We don’t know what lies ahead.”
Upon finishing his words Toshiro would shunpo out into the direction of their intended target, assuming that Rin would follow suit with him. Something about all of this though didn’t sit right with Toshiro, he could feel it as though there was something that they were missing or that was out of place with this whole scenario, yet Toshiro could not place exactly what it was. The captain would stop roughly five meters out from the displaced trees.
There was nothing in the area, the feelings of hollow reiatsu surrounded it, but it was faint not much stronger at all from what they had been sensing previously. Inside the forest, a few meters deep it seemed the trees stopped their purposeful bending. The feeling of an ominous venture surrounded Toshiro and he couldn’t help but keep feeling that proceeding was the incorrect option, however what else were they to do?
The captain sighed and a moment later summoned a Hell Butterfly, perhaps the other squadron had found something more than they had, if they were lucky at least that would be the case.
“Report. Have you found any sightings or information? It seems Miyagi-san and I may have found something a disturbance near the forest in this area. However we aren’t sensing much, we are going to investigate further. Please report back with any findings.”
As he finished Toshiro would send off the Hell Butterfly in the direction in which the two Shinigami had come from, hopefully expecting to hear word as soon as possible.
“Let’s be off Miyagi-san.” Toshiro would say looking at Rin before he shunpo’d again into the forest. The tree line obscured most all the light, letting only small rays penetrate through its dense coverage. However Toshiro came to a stop again, there was nothing around, even the sense of the hollow reiatsu seemed to somehow just disappear. Just the idea of it baffled Toshiro, unsure of where to proceed or what to look out for, the only thing he could sense in the area was Rin.
“Miyagi…do you sense that…” Toshiro said hoping that her answer was not the same as his, that they both could no longer feel it. Though at the pit of his stomach he couldn’t help but feel she would answer just the same.
“Our only option right now I believe is to head towards our only lead, but be on your guard Miyagi-san. We don’t know what lies ahead.”
The female was a step behind the captain, following him into the forest. She didn't like this. She didn't like not having a choice on what course of action they would take. Rin couldn't shake the feeling that the hollow was pulling their strings, and they were doing exactly what it wanted; and it set a feeling a dread in the pit of her stomach.
When they stopped, that feeling only grew. The reiatsu wasn't any stronger over here either. Something certainly wasn't right. She waited in silence as Hitsugaya used a Hell Butterfly, her own thoughts spinning theories of the strange occurrence here. Because this wasn't normal.
When the duo reached further into the forest, Rin noticed the light wasn't able to filter through the canopy trees as easily. The forceful parting of the trees had completely vanished by now, leaving the two with more questions than answers. Even the reiatsu had faded.
"You can still sense something?" The female questioned, looking at him. "I'm not even picking up traces of Hollow reiatsu." An idea came to mind, but she did not like what it meant if it was what came to pass. "Taichou, do you think it could have been a technique that disturbed the treeline and not the actual Hollow?" If that was the case, then it meant the Hollow was intelligent enough to understand deception. And if a technique was strong enough to cause that kind of damage, then it spoke of a Hollow above the usual class that somehow managed to get into the Seireitei.
Post by Toshiro Hitsugaya on Oct 23, 2015 16:02:49 GMT
Toshiro didn’t like this one bit, everything was far too calm, far too silent for there to be a hollow amongst the forest depths here. There was no sense of reiatsu from the hollow any longer and it was only confirmed more as Rin spoke, confirming she could not sense anything as well.
“No. I can’t sense anything anymore. Which isn’t a good sign at all.” Toshiro said calmly as he looked out towards the forest more, trying to figure out what might be going on as he continued to listen as Rin spoke again, proposing an idea for why this situation may have come about and what might really be happening here.
“That’s a valid point. It would explain the initial reiatsu readings from the impact site and the drop off until this point. A hollow though working to those levels seems almost unbelievable.” Toshiro paused for a moment before speaking again, his tone still icy and lacking much more than analytical analysis. “They clearly thought through this then…and that worries me. It means we are working with a more intelligent hollow than initially anticipated.”
Still there had been no response from the Hell Butterfly that Toshiro had sent. He wasn’t sure if it was the situation that heightened his worry, or the genuine fear that it shouldn’t be taking this long for a response to come back. Whatever the case might be though the two Shinigami needed to do something, he was sure of that.
He turned to Rin, “Miyagi-san. Let’s head back to the original meeting place. Perhaps we can pick up some signal on the way. The way things are right now it seems we’ve hit a dead end and if your assumption is correct the hollow could be quite literally anywhere.”
With those few words Toshiro shunpo’d off headed out towards where the two squads, if you could count himself and Rin as one squad, had met before, hoping along the way something, anything would be felt to give them some more word.
Rin agreed with the captain. To think a Hollow, an intelligent Hollow had managed to infiltrate the Soul Society without even the twelfth division knowing about it, it didn't bode well for the Seireitei. Mistakes like these just didn't happen. Not here.
Still, what other explanation was there? Hollows didn't just disappear and reappear out of thin air. Their reality wasn't as quite cut and dry as what most humans thought, but they didn't live in a realm without a strict set of guidelines, and creatures vanishing into thin air was not in their realm of possibilities. "This level of intelligence probably puts it at a Gillian class at the least," the female spoke, thinking out loud. "Although I doubt it's a Menos Grande. They're far too big to conceal, and I've never seen them display this amount of intelligence before." Of the Gillian class, the towering form of the Menos Grande was by far the most common, but many of the soldiers in Soul Society had seen some that were Gillian class without the typical form of the Menos Grande. Perhaps they were dealing with one of those?
It seemed wishful thinking, considering everything. She doubted a Gillian, the weakest level of Menos, would be able to hide itself from both her and her companion, a Shinigami in the captain class. Hitsugaya at least should have been able to locate a Gillian class, even if Rin herself somehow couldn't.
"Hai, Taichou," the female replied, following the captain with a shunpo of her own. As they were moving back towards their original starting position, Rin kept her senses peeled, trying to locate any trace of the Hollow. She didn't bother searching the village they'd found destroyed earlier, the Hollow had long since vacated the area, and it'd be a fruitful search anyways.
Everything seemed clear as they made their way back, and Rin found her nerves becoming more and more tense the longer they went without some type of discovery. Maybe it should have been the other way around, but where some would find comfort in an enemy who was no longer around, Rin was a warrior, and she was trained in the art of combat. At this point, Rin would probably rather face a Vasto Lorde Arrancar if it showed itself, rather than following the phantom Hollow in a useless goose chase.

In a few short moments the two Shinigami would arrive at their initial meeting spot and unluckily for them there was nothing around. None of the former Shinigami, presumably investigating at their assigned location, no other rukongai citizens, seemingly nothing, it all seemed far too quiet and on top of all of that Toshiro still had not received word back via hell butterfly from his former squad.
“The lack of communication is a bit disheartening.” Toshiro said coldly, his voice trailing off at the end as he thought to himself the various scenarios the two of them may be facing in the very near future.
Their best case scenario was that the hollow was dealt with, the other group had intercepted and taken care of them and somewhere among it all his initial hell butterfly had been lost in the fray, or the team had lacked to send a return message. That of course was the best scenario, often times though that was not the case in most scenarios that Toshiro had experienced during his time as captain, in fact it was much easier to assume the worst case scenario in these situations.
The worst case scenario in this situation of course was that the hollow was found, but not taken care of. That the group he had assigned had failed in their attempts to stop the creature and that its power was even more than they had initially anticipated. This being the case it would mean that this group was either all dead or severely injured, either way it would mean that Rin and himself would be in a situation in which they would need to deal with it by themselves. Toshiro let out a small sigh as he took one more look around, nothing new sticking out from his view. Visually there was nothing that stuck out, however at that moment a faint sense came to Toshiro a corrupted and evil feeling, that of a hollow reiatsu. It was extremely faint though, meaning either it was severely being suppressed or that it was distant, the feeling though came from the location in which the secondary group had headed out towards.
“Miyagi-san. Can you feel that? It’s faint, but definitely of hollow origin.”
Toshiro paused for a moment, they needed to act fast especially if the hollow were to go on the move again. It would be almost impossible to catch him if he kept disappearing like this.
“Quickly. We need to persue. Be prepared though, the enemy may be stronger than we anticipated.”
As he finished Toshiro entered into a shunpo, headed off in the direction of the faint reiatsu signature, hoping that what they found was not what he had thought was their worst case scenario.
Rin probably shouldn't have been as disheartened as she was when they arrived back at their original starting place. There was no trace of the Hollow; there was no trace of the other three males either. And still, Hitsugaya's Hell Butterfly still hadn't brought back an answer about the other team's status, so the two Shinigami were left completely in the dark.
“The lack of communication is a bit disheartening.”
The female turned a calculating gaze towards the captain in response to his cold words, though try as she might, Rin couldn't figure out just what the captain meant by those words. Was he annoyed at the lack of disrespect of not receiving an answer? Or did the captain believe something more sinister had happened? But before she had time to puzzle it out, Hitsugaya spoke once again, his words sending all thoughts of his previous words and the meaning behind them from her mind.
“Miyagi-san. Can you feel that? It’s faint, but definitely of hollow origin.”
Focusing on the tendrils of reiatsu around her, Rin tried to sense whatever it was the captain had sensed; she however, couldn't feel anything other than the presence of the two of them, and shook her head in answer. "I don't sense anything." Despite her not being able to sense the Hollow, Hitsugaya seemed confident it was close, and he feared it disappearing again, judging by how quickly he took off. Rin herself couldn't feel its presence, but if Hitsugaya said it was there, she'd believe him. The female followed without hesitating.
Hitsugaya lead the way, towards the point where the other three had been tasked with their mission. Rin's step faltered when she felt the reiatsu the Hollow was unleashing, but she recovered quickly. "That's no Gillian." It felt powerful, far more powerful than what she'd originally anticipated. If this Hollow had already found the other team, just what would they find?
These Shinigami... They were too easily deceived. It was simply too easy to lead the Captain and his companion on a wild goose chase to a place he'd long since left abandoned. The area they went too he had destroyed weeks ago and intentionally left a trail that led to a dead end, the three that were sent to where he truly was... Pah, they were too easily killed. They didn't even provide him with a warm up. But then he saw it, a hell butterfly come to send them a message. One of the men were still alive, he walked over to him just as the hell butterfly began descending. Slamming his foot into the Shinigami's back as he grabbed the hell butterfly into his hand with a smirk, they'd come... A Captain would always come to check on his subordinates if they didn't reply. And sure enough, it was only a few minutes before the captain and the other showed themselves, his head lifted as he grabbed the one Shinigami he had intentionally kept alive by the head and raised him slowly.
"So you've finally come, Captain-san. One of your caliber I had honestly expected you to see the blatant red herring I left and come rushing to the aid of your fellow Shinigami... Especially once your Hell Butterfly never came back."
He said, Raising his other hand to display the Hell Butterfly he'd sent out dangling by one wing before he tossed it away. Rearing his hand back before shoving it through the Shinigami's chest he had in his grip from behind, he let the Shinigami squirm for a moment before he severed the head as well and dropped both pieces of the man.
"Your boys here didn't even give me a warm up, they were childs play really. If anything it was a struggle to not kill them, after all I wished to let you see at least ONE of them die before your eyes... Helpless to save them, and who's this you brought along? Another sacrifice?"
He asked, licking his lips some as he stared at Rin. His eyes hungered for more blood, and this girl... Oh she'd provide him with plenty of it. He began to snicker a bit as he grinned up at the two.
"Tell me, Captain-san, What is your name? And what is the name of that pretty subordinate of yours? And Just so you know... I hope you don't mind me taking her"
He told them both, but before either of them would be able to respond he vanished before reappearing behind Rin, reaching out to grab her by her pony tail and yank her backwards towards him. If he managed to get ahold of her, he'd unsheath his Zanpakuto and place it right against her neck with a grin.

Toshiro could feel it as they proceed onward, it was clear the presence was not simply some kind of Gillian bumbling its way through soul society, no instead it was stronger, more concentrated something to truly be afraid of. The lack of any kind of response also weighed on Toshiro’s mind as he shunpo’d forward stopping at a devastating sight. His team having been almost entirely eliminated all but one it seemed, a younger man, he had been with the squad for some time and although he was not exceptionally skillful he did his duty with honor and dignity.
Toshiro watched as the Arrancar spoke, for it was almost immediate upon exiting his shunpo. Toshiro listened as the words came from his mouth, a sick kind of sarcasm that often times came with the heartless feelings of these creatures. It seemed his worst assumption was in fact what had happened. His Hell Butterfly had been intercepted before it had even reached its intended target, by this hellish arrancar. Quickly and without thought, before any action could even be made Toshiro watched as the Arrancar killed his squad member in front of him. The look of disparity and sadness and pain before his body was thrown to the ground.
Toshiro’s hand went for his blade, gripping the hilt of it behind him as the arrancar spoke again. Toshiro himself yet to speak a single word, though as the arrancar finished Toshiro sharpened his senses as he mentioned Rin, unsheathing his zanpakuto, gripping it steadily in his hand.
“Miyagi-san!” Toshiro said as he quickly whipped around as the arrancar disappeared. The speaking of the arrancar made it clear what his intent had been. He had planned on taking yet another one of his squad members.
The arrancar appeared as predicted, but due to the positioning Toshiro was unable to react effectively, he had hoped his slight warning had been enough to allow Rin to effectively act. Toshiro finished his full turn, now facing the new direction of the arrancar, prepared to engage if he was clear to, if not he would bide his time for an opening, though he hoped the former was more easily available to him.
It wasn't quite as devastating as the village they'd passed through earlier where the quantity of damage was concerned, but the village wasn't as personal as this. The village had only been meant to destroy it, and the deaths were more of a bonus on top of everything rather than the prime concern. Here, the squad members being decimated by the Arrancar were its only concern, and from the looks of the damage left behind, the Arrancar had taken great pleasure in their deaths.
There was still a squad member left alive; sadistically left alive by the Arrancar for the thrill of watching how the two would react. Perhaps he even wanted to watch the younger man experience the hope of rescue from his two division members before the Arrancar ripped that too from him.
The Arrancar finished off the last of the other group before either could react. And the vile creature was still speaking. Eyes narrowed as he mentioned her, and Rin knew that she was the next target. Somehow, she doubted he intended her death to be just as quick as the four males were, if he even planned to kill her.
“Miyagi-san!”
Rin flashed towards the side, just out of the reach of the Arrancar. He'd probably have been able to get a few strands of her hair, but Rin would rather be down a few strands of hair than at the mercy of this Arrancar, who had already proven how merciful he could be. Before she even completed her step, much less turned around to face the enemy, her weapon was drawn free of its sheath, held out in front of her as she waited for the next move, whether it be from the captain or the Arrancar. Either way, both Shinigami were ready now. Both had swords drawn, and the Arrancar would fall to their blades.
A smirk formed on his face, pulling his hand back with some of her hairs.
"Ah... Very astute Captain-san. Your comrade here seems to be quick on her feet as well... I'll have to make sure she can't move those later."
He said with a bit of a sadistic grin as he let his arm fall to his side for a moment, resting his hand on his hilt.
"You've both drawn your swords so quickly against me, yet I've not even pulled mine from it's sheath yet... Why is that? Am I really that big of a threat that a Captain of the infamous Gotei 13 would pull their sword immediately? I'm truly honored."
He said, giving Toshiro a quick bow.
"Captain-san, What is your name might I ask? It's only formal to introduce yourself when you're about to drawn blades no? Though I suppose I should give you mine first"
He gave them both a bow this time, extending one hand out as he placed the other across his chest to seemingly leave himself wide open to an attack.
"My name is Puraimaru no Shi, or in the human tongue, Death of the Primals. It's not the classiest or best of names, but it's suiting dontcha think?"
He said as he stood straight and grinned at Toshiro.
"If you wonder what I mean, let me clarify before we begin. Shinigami are legendary, been in existence since time immemorial, same with hollows. I've killed both of them, the primals of this existence... The eldest of all. So you see, Captain-san, It's only fitting that you die at my hand... and with your dying breath, watch me steal away your precious 'Miyagi-san'. I bet her hollowfication will be very... excruciating."
He said with a rather malevolent snicker as he revealed exactly what he planned on doing with the girl.
"I wonder... If she survived somehow, would you still see her as a Shinigami Captain-san? Or would you outcast her?"
He asked, his hand slowly drawing his blade.
"Choose your words carefully, Captain-san, your subordinate will hear what you'll do if she becomes infected..."

Toshiro hated dealing with Arrancar like this, even when he had first dealt with the arrancar created by Aizen they had the same air to them. Cocky and overly confident in their abilities, there was no doubt that they were in fact stronger than most, however flaunting it like they were better than anyone had no place in any form. It would ultimately be what would be anyone’s undoing and eventually this arrancar’s as well.
“Your arrogance and our confidence, you feel that you are strong enough that you have no reason to pull your blade yet. You’re like all the other arrancar I’ve met before. You’re the highest form of your species and so you feel you’re superior to all others in that right.” Toshiro said, emotion lacking in his voice, his tone icy and cold as it often found itself in serious matters.
The grin…just more of the arrogance of this beast, his entire body language shouted it not just his speech.
“Ah your history must be rather flawed like your personality. I’m far from the oldest of the shinigami or captain for that matter.” Toshiro said calmly.
“You speak of formalities and niceties, but it is clear through your speech you’re as savage as the “primal” creatures you’ve killed. You act as though you’re of a higher level of being, but deep down your savage nature shines through.”
Toshiro paused for a moment, looking over the arrancar in front of him.
Certainly his plan had now been expressed and his hatred of the shinigami, nothing new at all for hollow, had been shown. Now it was down to a matter of the battle the battle to stop the arrancar, the battle to prevent the hollowification of Rin.
“The question does not need answered for it is only one of hypothetical nature, with no chance of occurring. My subordinates trust me and I them there is nothing else you need to hear to satiate your sick wants.”
“My name is Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya and this is the last time you’ll lay foot in Soul Society and the last time you lay a hand on anyone.” Tag: RIN MIYAGIFuurinji
