HISTORY

Born to affluent diplomat parents, they had never stayed in one country for longer than 4 years. Sometime during Sebastian’s mother’s pregnancy, she was attacked by a Hollow, barely making it out alive, Sebastian’s parents decided to stay in Japan until he was born, to prevent their son from being put in danger any further. When Sebastian was born, they began traveling once again, where Sebastian developed his love for the world. Of course, during his parents tenure as diplomats, he saw the horrors of conflict, war, strife, and political unrest.

Sebastian was enrolled in an elementary school in Yemen, where it was in the middle of a political uprising. One day, his entire school was under a alert due to the high level of combat taking place only a few miles away. An evacuation took place, but not before gunshots came pouring through his school earlier than expected. The disarray that took place was unlike anything he had ever seen. A teacher grabbed his hand with such force and ran, and he recalls how he felt his shoulder was going to be ripped from his torso by how hard he was being pulled. The screaming was deafening, students crashing into each other and glass shattering. As he ran, the crystal clear image of his classmates being shot in the head was burned into his memory He remembers being taken into a bomb shelter, a dark hole in the ground, for 9 hours straight. He did not cry, but instead, held his head in disbelief, asking himself if his closest friends in school were really dead. eventually fell asleep, and woke up back home several hours later, laying on his couch. He vividly remembers sitting at home one day and overhearing his parents discuss how another school was bombed and in graphic detail, how all the children there were killed. It was at that moment that Sebastian felt it imperative to find a way to stop the suffering in the world, to bring peace to this chaotic arena.

This life that Sebastian lived was atypical from a regular child. After the trauma he witnessed, Sebastian’s parents decided to stop traveling and pick up domestic careers, seeing what happened to their son as a huge mistake that they wish they could take back.

It was one day during science class that Sebastian read a quote in one of his textbooks which read “We are an impossibility in an impossible universe.” This struck a chord with him. In this world of suffering and war, it seems as though peace is impossible. But what if, what if there was a way to remove these impossibilities and create something possible? A world of progress, where happiness and comfort could be obtainable through breakthroughs in this natural world. His affinity for science was unlocked.

In the days of his youth, he began reading more and more books on science, specifically on physics. This made him a child prodigy in the realm of science, putting him on a caliber past many of his peers. He took great pride in his intelligence in science, and often participated in many educational extracurricular activities.

Years later, during his mid-teens, Sebastian enrolled in high school. For some strange reason, he began feeling things that were uncanny. He initially wrote it off as puberty, but it moved from a feeling to something akin to an intuition, as if a force was surrounding him. He did not understand what it was. He asked his parents what it could’ve been, yet they had no answer to this bizarre puzzle either. not wanting to let this situation bother him. He continued his studies as usual, but this inexplicable force continued to leave him unsettled.

One evening after school, Sebastian and his friends had gone out to a restaurant. Social business continued as usual, until that feeling became overwhelming, and he began to sweat profusely, as if something was coming. He heard a massive explosion, and the entire front side of the restaurant was obliterated. His friends were screaming “What is that?!” and “I can’t see it!” Bloodcurdling screams as they were being tossed back and forth. But Sebastian was able to see it. A grotesque creature with a mask on, lusting only for blood and destruction. This monster planted its foot on one of his friends, suffocating her. Helpless and desperate, Sebastian stood frozen, his trauma coming back with such a fury that he was rendered immobile, shaking. The force of this trauma was so apparent, until he heard another scream that broke him out of his paralysis. Sebastian himself lifted his hand to the creature and let out a scream, and the entire top half of the creature exploded. His eyes widened, and he saw several white particles in the air surrounding him. Bewildered and overwhelmed by what happened, he ran out of the restaurant and back home.

Erratic, he went to his parents, trying to figure out what just happened, white particles still floating around him. They too were extremely perplexed, and tried their best to figure out what happened and how to help him, the knowledge of his childhood trauma resurfacing.

Months came, and months went, and despite the fact that no other creatures came to harass him, he began to see people… People that had chains embedded in their chests. This time, he was not scared, as he did not feel any malicious intent from them. It had reached a point where it became a natural occurrence for him. Seeing this as an opportunity, Sebastian began doing extensive research on these otherworldly beings and the nature of the white dust that surrounded him many months ago. He discovered that the creature that attacked him were of another dimension, and the apparitions he saw were actually spirits of the departed. The white dust came from him, and was a manifestation of his powers.

Years later, Sebastian now works in a lab as a research assistant, waiting for the day where he can bridge the gap between science and magic.
