Orange sunlight from the late afternoon sun leaked through Karakura town's library, staining its inhabitants with its light. One inhabitant in particular seemed lazier than the rest, who were enjoying the air conditioning as they milled about, looking for books or relaxing in comfy chairs as they read.
This inhabitant was still dressed in her school uniform of Karakura High School and was currently slouched over one of the long study tables. The brunette teenage girl was staring blankly at an open text book, mathematics, or calculus in particular. A notebook was open to numerous nonsensical scribbles and a mechanical pencil dangled from her hand as her glazed over azure eyes darted over the page.
Finally she inhaled deeply and sat up straight, rubbing her face with both hands to try and wake herself up. "I gotta get through this." She tried to tell herself before staring back at the page for a minute and jotting a few figures down.
Then referred back a few pages and scribbled some more. Then back to the original page... The eraser was caught between her lips as she frowned and pulled out a calculator. But even after punching in figures for a few minutes, she threw it back into her bag with murmured curses. "Why won't you work?!" She asked angrily of the equation.
Her loud voice was immediately met with equally perturbed 'shushes' and Touko's head ducked as she whispered back a sullen, "Sorry..." Before glaring back at her text book. "I'm going to fail at this rate for sure." She whispered to herself in anguish.

"The weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under!"
It was the late afternoon and here was Kasumi at the library of all places. She rarely came here, more often enjoying spending her time exercising, training, or even learning new techniques. Like many students though she too had school work that needed to be addressed she had exams piling up and she had put little to no concentration into getting through them until this night. Somehow despite all the odds she had convinced herself that she needed to come here to the library and spend her night, learning all she needed for her studies so that she could pass said exams.
Kasumi had taken her place at one of the various long tables that adorned this “hall of studying”. There were a handful of people here, though none that Kasumi herself recognized, books in hand she took her seat laying the spread of her literary bounty across her end.
Where to start….what to look at first….
Kasumi racked her brain as to what it was she should first start her journey through this joyous academic venture. Three subjects lay before her, science in particular chemistry, political science, what a bore old man talking about how they know what the world should be, and finally math, particularly calculus.
It wasn’t much time to think before a loud voice in the virtually silent area distrupted her followed closely by the shushing of several surrounding people. Kasumi herself focused on the source of the noise, finding it to be a nearby girl, presumably doing the same thing Kasumi was, but clearly having a rough time with it.
After a moment when silence had returned to the area, Kasumi gathered her items quickly, yet quietly and brought them with her as she made her way to the table the girl was at, she looked younger than Kasumi and certainly in some kind of distress over whatever it was she was studying. Kasumi laid her books and various small supplies down on the table sitting across from the girl, “Hi.” She would whisper, “Do you mind if I sit here? I mean I can totally move if it’s an issue. Besides it looks like you might want a hand at whatever it is you’re doing.”
Kasumi would smile slightly at the girl, trying to seem as pleasant and sincere with what she had just said to the girl, and in truth she was.
Touko was starting to second guess her decision to come study at the public library rather than at home or her brother's apartment. At least she wouldn't disturb anyone at either of those places. But she'd also be sure to get distracted as well. Sighing, the brunette settled in and readjusted her pony tail before returning her concentration on her text book.
But it didn't matter anyway as a female voice whispered to her, causing the teen's head and eyes to raise. "Huh? Oh oh, no! I mean, sure you can sit down." The teen scrambled to make room next to her, shuffling her messenger bag and notebooks over to the other side.
At the woman's astute observation, Touko gave a dry laugh. "Yeah... I feel like I'm trying to tread water in the middle of rough seas. Calculus is a bitch. Er-sorry." She apologized to the older girl for her foul language. Her brother was really rubbing off on her. Well that and growing up in a boxing gym. She'd just blame it on that if her dad ever complained.
Glancing over the woman, Touko realized that she was a good handful of years older than her. "You studying for college courses?" She asked curiously.

"The weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under!"
Kasumi smiled slightly as the girl frantically scrambled to try and clear a spot for her, it took almost all she had not to laugh, and the girl was clearly taken surprise by Kasumi’s appearance at the table. Sitting down at the table, Kasumi listened as the girl spoke.
“I hear you; class work is always a pain. So rough, some days it feels like it will never end just piles and piles of it.” Kasumi said letting out a sigh.
“Trust me too, I’ve heard much worse than that, there’s no reason to watch your language around me. I don’t mind.”
Kasumi began to spread out her books and supplies more, looking again at them as the girl spoke to her, listening to each word as she spoke, not interrupting till the end.
“I am in fact studying for some college courses, and by the looks of it we share a similar area of study.” Kasumi would say with a smirk as she pointed to her calculus book. “You did say calculus after all, right? Anything maybe I could help out with? The name is Kasumi by the way, Kasumi Hisakawa.”
Kasumi paused for a moment before adding, “Maybe at least then you won’t be disturbing so many people with your frustration.” Kasumi finished with a smirk at the brunette.
Touko shuffled her papers, making sure they were more or less in order-ish as the other woman sat down, complaining in sympathy about schoolwork that seemingly never ended. The brunette echoed the woman's sigh with her own and let out a concise dry chuckle at the 'jinx'.
As the woman said that she didn't have to watch her mouth, the teen smiled gratefully, already liking her tons just because of that. Adults could be such prudes sometimes.
Touko was grateful for the distraction, watching the new books and papers being organized before her seating companion as she spoke. She perked up as the darker haired woman affirmed that she was studying for college and that she was also studying Calculus, but judging by the book that she had, obviously she was studying a much more advanced calculus course than the teen.
When help was offered for said dreaded math work, Touko's blue eyes shone with overdramatic tears of gratitude before clapping her hands together (a tad too loudly for a library) in a prayer like fashion in Kasumi's direction and replied, "Please help me! My name is Touko Saitou and math is my absolute worst subject."
As Kasumi mentioned that perhaps with help, the brunette wouldn't disturb other people with her frustration, the teen had the good grace to give a weak and apologetic laugh as she scratched the back of her head bashfully in a very Raiden like motion.

Kasumi Hisakawa
Kasumi smiled warmly at Touko as she emphatically requested her help with studying as she grabbed Touko’s hands.
“First. If you want me to help you how about you keep your voice down. I can almost feel all the stares.” Kasumi said in a whisper, removing her hands from Touko’s as she finished.
“Secondly it’s nice to meet you Saitou-san. What is it exactly you seem to be having difficulty with or is it just in general?”
To say Touko was interesting would be an understatement, yet at the same time she seemed relatively normal. Well normal outside of being able to control the volume of her voice apparently, especially in otherwise quiet areas. Kasumi let out a sigh as she thought, waiting for Touko to give her some more information on where her problems lie with the math. Although she wasn’t the best, by the looks of the books it would appear that she was in a higher level of calculus than Touko, so that at least would benefit her in helping.
Besides all of this surely would only help to reinforce some of the key aspects of the class back into place for herself, so helping was certainly going to benefit them both at this point. It had been a little while since she had been in high school that much was certain, but seeing Touko struggling like she was with her math class certainly brought back memories of those times and she couldn’t help but smirk a little while she got lost in her own memories of back when she was in high school herself.
