It is a part of a charm bracelet composed of a silver chain, a couple of heart and star charms along with the hilt charm, worn on Karina’s right wrist. To activate the charm, Karina brings her left hand close to the charm which begins to glow with light green reiatsu. Pulling her hand away from the charm draws out a green reiatsu javelin, bearing Bankai level sharpness and durability, roughly the same length of a zanpakutou that Karina can wield in either hand as a weapon or launch at Cero speed at her opponent. She can only form one of these at a time.

Description: Much in the same process that she would draw a javelin from the charm bracelet, Karina draws a longer, powerful lance. This lance features a “blade” on both ends of the shaft, flickering like fire. Karina throws the lance towards her intended target at Cero speed. The moment it collides with a solid object or reaches its max range, the lance denotes in a massive explosion of green Reiatsu akin to a nuclear explosion. Those not caught in the blast though still within 30Ms are drawn in forcefully towards the explosion where they then take the damage and are then violently launched out of the top of the column in the resulting blast wave of high pressure wind.{Visual Aid}

Those caught in the downpour are bathed in a menacing, hollow-like presence, making it difficult to tell what Karina is doing, or where she is, allowing her to use it as a cloak for other abilities. Name: Shunko: Toketsu Bara (瞬閧: 凍結薔薇; Flash Cry: Frost Rose)

Description: This is Karina’s personal version of Flash Cry, learned under the tutelage of Yoruichi Shihoin herself, named “The Frost Rose”. While her Shunko is, by function, standard for the ability, her progress with it has given her a more unique appearance from the Shunko known by the Black Cat, noted by bright blue, more subtle bolts of lightning with a black outline. These bolts of lightning hang and travel around and along Karina’s body like highly active static electricity, enveloping her in a deep azure aura instead of the immense amounts of electricity that would encase Yoruichi. Occasionally, bolts of lightning will whip out, trailing a small amount of ice in its wake. The final touch to Karina’s appearance would be the alteration to her eyes, changing their color from Green to a glowing icy blue. While Shunko is active, Karina’s fighting style takes a slight change from one of elegance and agility to one of overwhelming power and speed due to her weakened control over her emotions. Whenever one of her limbs make contact with the enemy opponent, the lightning that she is enveloped in discharges and travels along the target’s body for a split second (has no adverse effect).

{Backstory}
As a proud Shinigami Representative, who is as kind hearted as she is professional, dedicated and dutiful about the job that she loves so much, Karina may come off as a happy-go-lucky, carefree spirit. It isn’t entirely false, but like any other person with real emotions and a delicate heart, even she is susceptible to negative fluctuations of the mind and heart. But Karina does well to hide this negativity, not only to keep her friends and patients happy and optimistic by not being exposed to it, but also to keep her from being emotionally driven during work and combat. Over the couple of years as a Substitute Shinigami, she experienced many painful and stressful moments, from seeing her friends nearly die, nearly dying herself, and worst of all, seeing the people that she had sworn to protect die under her care. Each event had an impact on her, but she tried not to let it show, especially when she met her current love interest.
Eventually, the emotions came to a peak at around the time that Karina pushed her Hakuda skills to beyond the level of a Master, to a specialized level that very few ever achieve. It was during one of her patrols through Karakura that she encountered the famous Black Cat of Soul Society, Yoruichi Shihoin, the creator of the Flash Cry technique; the pinnacle of Hakuda. Having only heard of the technique, Karina practically begged the dark skinned woman to teach it to her; not only was it powerful, but it was specifically tailored for Hakuda, and as a Hakuda master, she felt that she could handle it. At first, Yoruichi felt that Karina couldn’t be capable of learning it, and considering Karina’s delicate appearance, no one would blame her. It took some persistence and a demonstration of her expertise and prowess over Hakuda with displays of speed, power and technique along with kido, and reiatsu control to finally convince Yoruichi to take Karina under her wing and at least attempt to teach the young Shinigami to use Shunko. Yoruichi’s first lesson was exemplifying her superior control over kido, and reiatsu by executing Flash cry a few times to give Karina an idea of the process that one’s Reiatsu uses to create the technique. Much to the surprise of the Black Cat, Karina picked up on these basics with just a few lessons and demonstrations of how to manifest the technique. The first time that Karina could utilize the powerful Hakuda technique, Yoruichi failed to remind Karina to have clothing appropriate for the nature of the technique (that tears fabric at the upper back and arms) and thus, left Karina nearly exposed, leaving her a blushing mess as she held her torn robes against her chest and Yoruichi rolling in laughter. That embarrassment soon passed after a change of clothes and her training resumed with the basic form of Shunko. At the same time, Karina’s focus and unwavering determination caused her to slowly relinquish her life-long hold on her emotions. With each failure, whether it was being unable to form the ability or it dissipating prematurely, her blows became more forceful and lost a bit of their grace. For the first time, Karina felt frustration and anger in her strikes.
As Karina conditioned her body to handle the explosive power of the new technique with continued training, her mind grew accustomed with the young girl’s release of emotion during her attacks. Yoruichi, in the meantime, acted as Karina’s guide, while occasionally teasing her whenever she did something wrong. The only time the green eyed student was truly free from her emotion-driven attacks was when she wasn’t narrow-mindedly concentrating on training with Yoruichi, and instead casually talking to her mentor as her normal, controlled self, where she seemed as happy as ever despite some playful pranks by the Black Cat. Whenever she attempted to use Shunko, however, Karina couldn’t help but feel more aggressive due to her subconscious, mental conditioning. As more time passed and her Shunko evolved from the Basic to Intermediate then to a Mastered and finally a Perfected level, her mind flipped like a switch automatically when it was active. So instead of her elemental trait subconsciously manifesting as the quick, beautiful, precise lightning, it manifested as the cold, harsh, relentless, unshakable element of ice, colored azure, almost her polar opposite. Upon witnessing this, Yoruichi jokingly deemed Karina’s Shunko the “Frost Rose”, poking fun at Karina’s reiatsu, which is normally amethyst, nearly black, and her flower themed zanpakutou. However, the name stuck, Karina believing it to be an honor that her Sensei, the beautiful though enigmatic creator of Flash Cry, herself named it.
After Karina returned to normal routine and began working as a nurse again, she noticed that she was having less difficulty holding back her negativity. She felt more alleviated… More focused and refreshed than she ever had. It came as a realization that perhaps her apprenticeship under Yoruichi had given her more than just a powerful technique, but freedom and an outlet for her pent up frustrations, anger, and sadness. So instead of willing herself to change her mentality when she used Flash Cry, Karina slowly came to terms with it and accepted the ability as it was. She felt that attempting to change would be running away from the nature of the technique, therefore weakening it, as well as going against the training she went through to learn it. At the same time, she knew that what she became in Shunko state was not the real her and thus resolved to only let out her emotions during this ability. And though her apprenticeship has ended, Karina hopes to better herself, as well as become closer to her teacher, and one day, be able to show Yoruichi Shhioin the pinnacle of her ultimate Hakuda technique; the Flash Cry.

Name: Blade of the Frozen Angel (Reitō tenshi no tsubasa; 冷凍天使の翼)

Range: Contact - 5 Feet

Description: To Karina, this is her signature ability. The primary effect of this technique is its freezing attributes applied to Kari’s limbs that are applied to the opponent upon contact or up to 5 feet in front of the limb that Kari is attacking with as shown via a blue wisp that leaves her limb at cero speed. For each hit that Kari lands on the opponent (chart below), the progression of freeze increases until the point that she begins to freeze muscles, and ultimately organs but she must hit the same area repeatedly for it to continue. The area of affliction usually starts from the contact point and remains until removed by the opponent through healing. However, this freezing also affects metal weapons whether spiritual or non-spiritual by causing the weapon to become super cooled after being hit, resulting in terrible pain like freezer burn when trying to tear one’s hand away from the blade or from an uninsulated weapon such as a gun. Frostbite can also be set on an opponent if direct contact is made with Karina, but it will not freeze further.
She cannot fully freeze the torso of any living being due to the most heat being collected there. Opponents with natural armor such as Hierro require an extra hit to progress a stage; Opponents with metal armor will have it supercooled after two hits. For each advantage Karina has over the opponent, the frost progression increases by 1, vice versa for having less.

1 Hit: Numbing and slight discoloration due to frostbite starting to set in.
2 Hits: Skin layer freezing begins, creating cracks in the skin, turning the skin pale, inducing frostbite, requiring medical attention to fully restore. Tier III technique to heal, reiatsu flare will only cause more cracks to form.
3 Hits: Freezing progresses to the tissue layer beneath, hindering normal motor functions, causing a sharp pinch whenever the muscle is flexed or causing pain whenever it is used with force. Tier IV to heal, flares ineffective.
4 Hits: Progression continues to muscle layer, reducing its range of motion without pain by half and increasing the pain caused whenever the muscle is flexed. Tier V to heal, flares ineffective.
5 hits: Freezing deepens to the deep tissues/organs/bones, forcing complete immobilization of the limb. At this stage, the limb can be shattered with sufficient force. Tier V to heal or to shatter permanently
