Selena Holloway
"Moms have to be Loving, knowledgeable, and capable of utterly destroying anything that threatens their Family."
murder princess || female || heterosexual || vasto-lorde 22 years old || unknown || unknown
APPEARANCE
Having no actual appearance herself, Selena's virus form can only be seen through the lenses of a microscope and only through means and methods that would allow one to see spiritual beings. Apart from this, her appearance differs depending upon the people or things she chooses to possesses, living on by attaching herself to others in a constant symbiotic – or parasitic, as the case may be – relationship with her selected host.
Unlike most other Hollow, Selena's mask manifests itself not on her person directly, but rather onto the body of Selena's chosen host. However, the form in which her mask would take is something beyond Selena’s power to control thus making it both incredibly easy and incredibly difficult to ascertain persons or things she is possessing.
When in her human form, she assumes the form of a slender deathly-pale young woman in her early twenties who stands at a height of five-foot-five. She has long jet-black hair and similarly-colored eyes and sports a semi-transparent sleeveless silk blouse with a printed black tank top that accentuates the contours of her slim physique. Her acid-black jeans have zippers on the side that run up to her calves which make it easier for her to wear boots, although she prefers black rubber flip-flops. Her sole accessory is a white pearled bracelet which is strapped onto her right wrist.
PERSONALITY
The entity known as ‘Selena’ is not in her entirety a single existence, but one who is composed of two entities who share the same body and as such possesses two very distinct personalities – the selfish and morally apathetic Seele; and the compassionate and friendly Elena – thus ultimately creating ‘a Hollow with a dissociative identity disorder,’ according to the people who bred her. Both existences were artificially-induced mental safeguards they imposed upon her psyche to prevent a relapse to her original persona as a Vasto Lorde, but after the events of the Seventh Sin Incident, both Seele and Elena have merged into one complete being that displays the characteristics of both. A semi-reversion to her true sense of self, this new persona is similar yet different from her original one in the fact she no longer has any inclinations to commit needless killings; a trait she had learned herself from the actions of Knight, the man she affectionately calls her ‘beloved’.
Selena seems to have a sweet and friendly nature at first, but this charming persona changes when she is angry or determined, especially when her family is threatened. In fact, while she occasionally comes off as a bit of an airhead at first, she is surprisingly intuitive, vastly intelligent, and incredibly dependable, especially when it comes to her loved ones. Along with her state as an omnipresent incorporeal existence, Selena is shown to be more than capable of becoming quite frightening and dangerously hostile when she is determined and would have no qualms resorting to heinous acts if she deems necessary to do so, such as controlling her victims to commit suicide, sabotage, or genocide, to name a few. However, it is when she takes on the role as a support character does her incredible ability shine through as she can easily direct and provide field and logistical support for her allies in real-time, all the while monitor their progress from the point of view of an overwatch.
HISTORY
Selena did not always have a name. In fact, as far as she could remember, her days were spent inside a thick glass tube in that underground facility, suspended in an orange-colored liquid that was, in her own words, 'like water, but tastes like urine'. There, she was known as 'Subject 13' – a mere number – and the closest anyone had for a name for her was 'Fair Lady Z', as if she were a twisted parody of the heroine in the Sleeping Beauty story. In the few times someone actually referred to her as a being, she was told that she was once a creature known as a 'Hollow' and that she was captured by the Lex Aeterna in order to be a test subject so they can learn more about her kind ‘for the betterment of humanity’. She could not care less about it, however; what was a past when Selena herself had all but forgotten it?
Day after day her captors were bribed her for her continued cooperation and Selena was given a constant supply of fresh souls to feed on. However, every time she ingested a new soul, she felt more of her sense of self deteriorate with every bite, but she did not mind; it was something she had already grown accustomed to since, as far as she could remember, that was the way it had always been for her. At the very least, she did not have to worry about food nor did she have to concern herself with someone killing her while she slept. From a Hollow's perspective, it was a dream come true; a luxury few beings like her could ever hope to afford. However, even with all the ‘opulence’ that surrounded her, there was something even her captors could never give her: freedom.
She never knew when the feeling started to bubble past the point where she could ignore it, but deep inside her own soul, Selena had longed to be free – free from the timeless prison she had been living in and free from the bitter isolation she forced herself to ignore if only to stay sane. There was nobody to talk to and everyone around her treated her like she was just a test subject to be observed and experimented on; a mere guinea pig without a voice. Soon, she began to steadily hate her life and hate everyone around her, but Selena did not like violence nor did she want to shed blood. She had always done what she was told, and continued to do so even after her change, albeit ended up hating herself for it. She knew it was a better alternative than being punished for disobeying orders – those electric shocks the men gave her whenever she was not performing the way they wanted her to. Eventually, her strong sentiments bore another voice inside of her.
In the beginning, she found her company a much welcomed relief to the loneliness that had held her captive more than the cultists in their white clothes ever did. She was calm, calculating, and cool – something which she was not. She always talked about freedom to her, told her the plans she had made for their escape and what they would do after they had cast off their chains. She always found her stories to be amusing, but nothing more than that: fairy tales of a treasure she could never have. Little did she know, however, that her other half’s words held far more truth than her stories ever had.
During one of the many experiments they conducted upon her day after day, her captors were particularly hard on their 'Subject 13' despite the latter performing up to their standards. She was constantly electrocuted while being commanded her to give out more power, regardless of how much energy she gave out. Finally, unable to take the pain and frustration any longer, she subconsciously opened the opportunity for her to take over who, by her judgment, decided that it was time to grant them their wish to see 'more'.
To the complete surprise of everyone present, Selena’s usually restrained powers spiked to phenomenal levels as Subject 13's reinforced container began to crack. Completely unprepared and with no time to spare, there was nothing the staff of the Lex Aeterna could do when her seal actually broke. Immediately infecting the nearest person with her poisoned touch, Selena cut a bloody swathe throughout the test facility as she lost herself more and more with every limb she dismembered and every spatter of blood she had sprayed all over the once pure white walls. After much bloodshed and barbarous fighting, the remaining laboratory personnel and their security escorts managed to perform a sealing spell on her and trapped ‘Subject 13’ in her own mask and effectively sealed off a lion’s share of her strength thus allowing them to subdue her without much resistance or further casualty.
With her powers now secure and her body diffused into her veritable form, her captors stored her away in a quarantine zone and deliberated upon her fate. She was too dangerous to be experimented upon now, but she was too valuable a specimen to dispose. Either way, they were right, and with each passing day that they fail to reach a final decision, more people were succumbing to the residual effects of Selena’s actions and contamination of the entire facility to the point where there have been several incidents of infighting with fatalities. That was the final straw.
In a unanimous decision, her captors deemed Selena to be too dangerous to exist, but too important to destroy. As such, she was sentenced to be indefinitely quarantined while under close observation from the staff. While major experiments were no longer performed upon her, she was no longer given much to feed on – just barely enough for her to survive and comply with menial tests that measured her evolution. Worse, she was more alone than ever before. She blamed her other half for her dismal predicament while the other criticized Selena for being too weak to resist, reasoning that had she only cooperated with her instead of giving her the reigns, they might have escaped without much delay. That was the start of the schism between the two beings that inhabited the same body – a divide which only grew as time passed on. In the end, they simply stopped talking to each other and both voices fell into deep slumber.
One day, Selena was awakened by a rapturous commotion which caused her entire world to change; torn apart, quite literally, by the hands of one man, their current partner, Knight. Neither she nor her other half knew what had happened before they awoke nor were they aware that their prison had already begun crumbling around them; all they knew was that they were refreshed and reinvigorated, their body now in the form of a scythe with its blade dripping with fresh blood from the bloodbath which surrounded them. It was here that they realized that the same man who took them from their collapsing prison was also their key to achieving what both have ultimately yearned for, and so, they helped him.
Having successfully escaped the entire facility before it had fallen into complete ruin, Knight offered if they wanted to work with him. At first, they hesitated, but after the latter promised to help them become completely separate beings, they unanimously took to him as a partner and started on their journey with their new wielder, with each took on half of the name ‘Selena’, one of the many monikers of a woman Knight had once knew.
Eventually, having spent time together as partners and having discovered her true identity as the very same Selena whom she was named after, the two rekindled their romance and eventually got married. After the events of the Seventh Sin Incident, she and her husband bore a son but was forced to deliver him through the use of unconventional means. Despite everything, Selena, her husband, and their son returned to Japan where, for the interests of security and privacy, she adopted the fictional surname of 'Holloway' along with her son. She now currently works as her husband's intelligence operator and an accomplished chef at a famous local restaurant.

HOLLOW TECHNIQUES
LIST
Bala (Hollow Bullet)
Class: Cero/Bala
Type: Offensive
Range: 100 Meters
Tier: I
Description: A weaker but quicker alternative to regular Cero blasts. The technique hardens the user's spiritual pressure and fires it at around twenty times the speed of a Cero.
Cero (Hollow Flash)
Class: Cero/Bala
Type: Offensive
Range: 100 Meters
Tier: IV
Description: Are high-powered energy blasts that can be fired from various places on the body. Only Menos, Arrancar, and Vizard have so far been shown to use Cero attacks, and it appears that stronger entities can use it more efficiently.
Sonido (Resounding Revolution)
Class: Stepping
Type: Stepping
Range: N/A
Tier: I
Description: Is the Arrancar equivalent of the Shinigami flash steps; it allows the user to travel at incredibly high speeds for short distances. Use of Sonido is punctuated by a brief static sound, in contrast to the "swish" sound used for Shunpo.
Garganta
Type: Passive
Class: Hollow Techniques
Tier: I
Range: Passive
A technique which literally tears open a gateway into worlds, revealing a tunnel of whirling, torrential energy that must be focused and solidified to create a discernible pathway without getting lost therein. When used, the technique opens the dimensional fabric like a door into another world.
Regeneración de Velocidad Alta [High Speed Regeneration]
Class: Hollow Technique s
Type: Passive
Range: Self
Tier: I
Description: Powerful Hollows have been shown to possess incredible powers of regeneration, specifically at the adjuchas class. This ability allows for the regeneration of most body parts with the exception of vital organs and the head itself. The ability is dependent on reiatsu and cannot be maintained indefinitely, likewise, one cannot completely regenerate from fatal wounds unless give uninterrupted time to fully recover the damage dealt.
Instant – Minor scraps and bruises.
1 Post – Cuts, bad bruising
2 Posts - Deep lacerations, broken bones
3 Posts - Organs, Limbs
Máscara de la Piel [Mask of Skin]
Class: Hollow Technique s
Type: Defensive
Range: Self
Tier: V
Description: It is widely known that most hollows carry little to no defense naturally in their dark skin. In fact, it appears the defenses of their body and natural toughness focus only on their mask. This technique forcibly expands the mask material of a hollow to cover their entire body, creating a skin just as difficult to pierce as their mask. The drawback of such a technique is a sacrifice of sonido or other high speed techniques as a body covered in the thick armor is resistant to movement, but the trade-off is the increased power of defense afforded with this technique.
CUSTOM
Vasto Lorde-class: As a Vasto Lorde-class Hollow, Selena is blessed with naturally higher strength and speed parameters (x2 boost to strength and speed parameters) than the Adjuchas, Gillian, and other lower classes of Hollow.
BATTLE SKILLS
Sol Dios
Type: Offensive Class: Cero/Bala
Tier: VI (Cooldown: 3)
Range: 50m
A modified version of a Hollow’s Cero with more strength and a different build which Selena managed to develop after being struck with inspiration from seeing the sun after her liberation. It takes the form of small spherical ball of white energy with a circumference of only three inches that can be released from any of her fingers (in humanoid form or when inhabiting a host with fingers), when being pointed at a target (in weapon form), or while she is lingering in the air (in her virus form). Despite its dwarfish size, however, it has massive destructive power in that, once it detonates, would release its compressed energy in one giant explosion with a thirty meter (30m) radius (Cero-speed).
Luz del Sol
Type: Offensive Class: Cero/Bala
Tier: V (Cooldown: 2)
Range: 50m
A modified version of a Hollow’s Bala fired in inexorably larger quantities. It is a technique which is, quite literally, a merciless barrage of white light (Cero-speed) meant to overwhelm an opponent and shred them to pieces with hundreds of powerful Balas. Only a scant few can ever hope to dodge this overwhelming volley, let alone survive it.
By manipulating her pathogen down to a molecular level, Selena can temporarily transmute herself or her host's physical structure, in whole or in part, into a viscous figure that vaguely resembles the form of her chosen host. If physical contact with the substance is made, it stains the victim with her mutated pathogen, effectively allowing for her to precisely gauge her target's strengths and weaknesses, as well as any energy expenditures made. The stain will remain unless properly cleaned off, until Selena wills it to disappear, or until the host turns back to normal (after the duration).
Epidemia
Type: Offensive Class: Hollow Techniques
Tier: VI (Cooldown: 3)
Range: 100m in diameter
A variation and supplementary effect of Mancha in that, when stained, Selena can instantly mutate her pathogen into a volatile, pus-like state before exploding in a spray of searing-hot suppuration which infects anyone nearby with the Mancha, including other parts of the victim's own body that has otherwise not been exposed to it.
Regeneración
Type: Healing Class: Healing
Tier: III (Duration: 7) (Cooldown: -)
Range: 100m in diameter
An off-shoot of Selena's inherent high-speed regeneration trait, modified in order to affect the cells of her host. Selena's pathogen mutates temporarily to give her host the power to heal from wounds, poisons, and disabilities, given enough time. However, due to the stark difference in their physiology, the effects wear off as soon as Selena ceases applying energy into her host's cells.
Dominación
Type: Binding Class: Hollow Techniques
Tier: VI (Duration: 3) (Cooldown: 6)
Range: 100m in diameter
Selena forcefully imposes her domineering will upon her surroundings and pins down everything around her to the ground with a severe mental arrest that essentially hijacks a sentient being’s gross and fine motor skills to render them immobile while the skill is in effect (refer to Binding Rules).
Diluvio
Type: Offensive Class: Hollow Techniques
Tier: VI (Duration: 3) (Cooldown: 6)
Range: 100m in diameter
Selena transmutes her pathogen to create (Cero-speed) a quagmire cube in a fifty meter (50m) radius to drown her victims in its murky depths, their entirety devoured by a pitch-black darkness that inundates the unfortunate souls she has caught until their final breaths; their ocular, reiatsu, and somatosensory senses flooded with nothing but Selena's essence suffocating and draining their life away to replace it with her own.
ITEMS
Anima Vas Type:Item Class: Item Tier: I Range: Self A unique bracelet which allows Selena to channel her reiatsu to transform her into a normal human being at the cost of being unable to access all her supernatural powers. While she retains her combat prowess on par with that of a top-tier fighter, she otherwise becomes just a normal housewife, mother to Grey and beloved spouse of The Knight of Swords.
REIATSU FEATURES
Smell colour and aesthetics.
HOLLOW POWERS
Fair Lady Z
Disease Manipulation/Organic Sorcery
Always Active
HOLLOW POWERS ABILITIES
Nota de la Muerte
Type: Offensive Class: Release
Tier: I-VII (Cooldown: - / - / - / 1 / 2 / 3 / 4)
Range: 100m in diameter
A sound-based attack that swiftly shoots forward and cuts through solid objects almost effortlessly. The sound waves are akin to razor-sharp strips of vibrating air. While this attack is only of considerable strength by default (Tier I - Tier II, Bala-speed; Tier III, Half Bala-speed), this versatile technique can be strengthened at any given time, albeit at the expense of speed in exchange for raw power (Tier IV - Tier VII, Cero-speed), of which the latter is dependent upon the degree of power sought to be released and Selena’s capability to handle such energies effectively. The Nota's unique feature is that Selena can change the direction and shape of a Nota while in mid-flight (one [1] post charge time for each change sought to be effected) making it completely unpredictable.
Corrupción
Type: Passive/Supplementary
Class: Release Tier: III (Variable)
Range: 100m in diameter
Anything that comes within a fifty-meter (50m) radius from Selena can be possessed by her (dependent on Hollow Power Mastery) and effectively becomes Selena, powers and all. Given the wide application of additional energy (Tier IV - Tier VII) and the strength discrepancy between her and a target, this skill may be used to partially (Equal to +1 Advantages only) or completely (-1 or less Advantages only) control someone or something instantly (applies only to NPCs and non-OC characters. For OC characters and controlled NPCs, OOC consent is needed. If not allowed for either partial or full control, a chance for direct damage is allowed for every instance an OC is within range of the skill). As frightening as this skill is, it is possible to counteract the effects by the person sought to be controlled (dependent on the target's Reiatsu Control Mastery). This is Selena’s signature ability.
Partial Control:
The victim can be controlled through suggestions entered within a post, but the actions can be remedied by the victim itself and are simply classified as involuntary muscle movement.
Full Control:
The victim can be controlled fully and without restriction, effectively becoming Selena herself, possessing all attributes and advantages associated to her.
Chance for Direct Damage:
If not allowed for either partial of full control when infection has set in, the damage equivalent to the highest Tier used to possess the host shall be dealt as direct damage for as long as the victim has not left Selena’s area of effect or sufficiently established that Selena’s essence has been successfully purged from the host’s system.
Modificación
Type: Passive/Supplementary
Class: Release Tier: III-VII
Range: Self
Selena has the ability to temporarily morph (half-Bala speed) herself, and in extension, her chosen host’s frame, to suit her needs. But while she can endlessly transmute and modify her host in a myriad of ways which are limited only by her creativity, such modifications are not permanent since they are not supported by her host’s basic physiology. All modifications are relatively durable for most tasks, but could still take damage and possibly dispelled if the circumstances so warrant. However, if the remaining attack power cannot surpass her natural defense parameters (Soul Resiliency), no damage is taken despite the modification's destruction.
In addition to her ability to turn her host into a virtual polymorph, she can likewise reinforce or degrade her host's structure, if needed; but if Selena invokes a maximum augmentation or degradation (x5), she suffers the adverse effects for the same amount of time after her target is freed from augmentation or debilitation, in addition to the additional debilitation that she cannot use any of her core abilities (Release abilities) for the same length.
x3 boost or reduction to Strength and Speed – Tier V (Duration: 5) (Cooldown: 10)
x4 boost or reduction to Strength and Speed – Tier VI (Duration: 5) (Cooldown: 10)
x5 boost or reduction to Strength or Speed – Tier VII (Duration: 5) (Cooldown: 10)
Caballero
Type: Summon Class: Release
Tier: I / VII (Duration: - / 7) (Cooldown: - / 14)
Range: Summon
Selena uses the skills taught to her by her husband to summon a two-meter (2m) effigy of her beloved, modeled after stories of the ‘Legendary Dark Knight’. A literal personification of death and disease clad in black armor and armed with two great-swords in each hand, it is an avatar of pestilence meant to be the harbinger of doom for Selena's enemies.
By reason of the strain of summoning a construct of such caliber, if at maximum power, Selena suffers a temporary, but large reduction to her strength parameter (x5 reduction for three [3] posts).
Spectral Swordsman: When in combat as Selena's champion and not merely a convenient way to move around in physical form, a normally average Caballero (Tier I, Average Weapon Skill) comes to possess phenomenal sword-fighting prowess which can easily outmatch and overcome most foes on the battlefield (Tier VII, Specialist Weapon Skill). Its swordplay is considered unequaled by any mortal man and can perform feats of masterful swordsmanship generally deemed impossible by lesser warriors. Its enemies shudder in fear at the mere sight of its crimson blades shimmering in the distance, an ill omen which spells their impending doom.
Hoja Fantasma
Type: Passive/Illusion
Tier: III
Range: Melee
The ghostly Caballero's attacks are by themselves considered to be illusions. Every movement of the blade is hidden behind a veil of feints and redirection that seemingly defy physics, unknowable and unfathomable, except to those with only the keenest eyes that can see through its deceptions (must possess Specialist Hand-to-Hand, Weapon Skill, or Reiatsu Control; in addition to a skill that can detect a Tier III Illusion).
Sombra
Type: Passive/Supplementary/Illusion
Tier: III
Range: 50m in diameter
The black mist a Caballero produces functions primarily as a means to spread its mistress' touch to those who come close, but it doubles as both a method to obscure the Caballero's movements as well as its presence and hide it from simple sight, thus making it appear that it is just as formless as its mistress.
Espada de Verdugo
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Tier: VII (Cooldown: 4)
Range: Melee
The Caballero uses its signature right-hand item, a weapon called a Zweihänder, to deliver a powerful slash that can cleave even an armored foe in half. Enforced with an energy barrier which acts as a defensive buffer to cancel out any opposing forces, it serves to protect the attack's destructive power from lessening until it hits its intended mark. If any energy is left from the defensive buffer, it is dealt as additional damage upon impact against the target from the energy field dissipating in the form of a thunderous explosive crack.
Espada de Saboteador
Type: Defensive/Binding
Tier: VII (Cooldown: 4)
Range: Melee
The Caballero uses its signature left-hand item, a weapon called a Flamberge, and masterfully parries away attacks with a single circular swing. Anything nearby that is caught while the Caballero is in its circular motion is briefly bound (only one [1] post) by the force and momentum of its swing, only released from the whirlwind of ghostly metal upon its completion as it sends them flying away (refer to Binding Rules).
Nota de la Muerte - As long as you cannot change the Tier Mid flight after it has been launched. Can shoot a Tier II bala speeds and then change it to Tier VII for the damage.
Corrupción - There was a new AoE rule placed in effect too.
