"Ara? What was that?" The young Quincy carried with her several bags filled with designer clothes while she stared off down the street towards an unusually strong presence she could sense. "So the rumors about spiritual activity in this town are correct then... No way I can fight something that strong though. Guess I'll need to be careful..." The presence felt hollow in origin to Alana. And then it was gone. As quickly as it appeared the hollow was... eliminated? Alana shrugged. She knew better than to try and fight something that was beyond her own capacity to subdue. Besides, she didn't want to drop what she was doing to pursue Hollows right now anyway. "Alright! One more shop and then we'll head back!"
Long teal hair flipping in the light breeze, Alana turned on her heals and headed down the street to her next destination, yet another apparel shop with the latest brands to choose from. It was rather amazing the freedoms she had considering. Maybe her adoptive parents felt the need to pamper her with freedom and a large allowance but more than anything she appreciated the freedoms allowed to her simply because it meant she could do the things she wanted, see the things she wanted, and even buy the things she wanted. Spoiled rich kid was probably the best way to describe it. Spoiled in name only. Alana wasn't one to flaunt status in front of others. Mostly because she frowned upon doing such a thing typically because it would only only make it difficult to find anyone she could become genuine friends with.
Visiting Karakura was a new experience and a thrill, something Alana had wanted to do ever since it'd become known to her that her parents were moving to Naruki City. She'd be starting up school there next week but for now she was allowed to enjoy a bit of site-seeing, which she took full advantage of. "If you could take these, I've got one place left that I'd like to check out." The girl stated to a uniformed driver behind the wheel of a black Mercedes AMG "I shouldn't be too long but you don't need to wait for me. I'll give you a ring when I'm ready to head home." She noted to the driver who returned with an understanding nod.
Next stop was the last store on the list of buying experiences for Alana. After that she'd go and check out a couple of the bakery shops she'd heard about.

"Uwa! This is amazing!" Lana twirled on her heals, holding a dress belonging to the family of one of few world renowned designers by its hanger, her other hand keeping the dress from flaring too far out as she spun with it. "I can't believe they actually had this in stock! I must! Must!! Must have it!" Her voice knew no bounds and the shop became filled with odd stares thrown her way. Let them stare. Obviously none of them knew just how rare or exciting it was to find a designer like this here in their shop. It was something she couldn't find anywhere else. Even getting one on order was unlikely as this particular dress would be on a several month delay even if she'd ordered it right then and there.
"I'll take this one." Lana slapped her charge card down on the counter at the front. "Are you sure you don't want to try it on first before you buy?" The employee asked, clearly questioning the girl's behavior. "No need. These have always fit me perfectly." Lana commented, overlaying the dress in front of herself as if to prove her point to the cashier. "If... you say so. Your total will be..." It was a some most in the store would question. Some even looked to Lana like she was mad. Who in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a single dress? And yet it existed... here in this store? Lana didn't mind the looks. She was used to it. The condescending stares as if looking at some rich family's spoiled brat. Rather than being spoiled, Lana saw it as more of an opportunity to not let monetary limitations limit her. Not that she was bad with money, just allotted an unusually large sum of money to make use of every month as an agreed upon allowance. This would however, be one of few times where she didn't care about flaunting her family's wealth. For her these brands were must haves, even if they came from common or lower class shops like this one.
Lana beamed. Her new dress neatly packed away in its own specifically designed container, and then neatly tucked into one of the store's own shopping bags. "Hey I'm done here. You should see if you can find a good bakery around here. What kind? Uh well... One in good standing and... preferably one that's also top rated if possible. I know. I know, I said we'd head home after this last one but I just thought I'd try something good first. Thanks! Cya when you get here!" Lana tapped the call end button on her cellphone and let out a small, jubilant sigh. "Ooh I can't believe I found something like this here!" She squealed with excitement, hugging the package as she trotted off to find a place to kill some time while she waited for her ride to show up.
“Ahahaaaa! Now THIS is living life to it’s fullest!”
A street light toppled over as the Hollow’s massive paw swung, crushing it over into the street as the nimble Quincy leaped backwards, hands resting on the long handle of the mace she held across the back of her neck. She grinned at the big beastie as it roared, charging ever closer. This was a thrill! It was a bit out of her league, but that didn’t matter as long as she wasn’t trying to fight it, right? All she had to do was keep it away from people and spirits, and keep collateral damage to a minimum until she could feel a Shinigami come into the area to take over, right? Then she could go back to finding… food, or whatever it was she had been doing before she’d noticed the Hollow.
What had she been doing, anyway?
She had noticed that this Hollow had a strange ability to randomly hide its Reiatsu. Weird, but not a concern as long as she kept an eye on it.
She turned and ran further down the street, feeling the tremble through the ground as massive paws crushed down into pavement as it charged after her. She turned a corner, and as she did, she came to a stop. There was another Reiatsu signature she hadn’t noticed before, and it was… close. Before she could think better of it, she jumped forward down the street, narrowly avoiding the Hollow’s claws swiping down towards her. If she went this way, the Hollow might take notice of the other Reiatsu and start causing more trouble…
…but she supposed it was a bit late to be thinking about that now, huh? The big beastie was huge and kinda took up any space she could use to dodge around the thing, so her only options now were either climbing a building and hoping the Hollow followed her, or meeting up with whoever the newbie was and hoping that either she could run for a while or that together they could hold the beastie off until a Shinigami got there.
The other presence was about two blocks away, which didn’t take long at all to close when you’re being chased by a giant monster that wants to literally eat your soul. Blu turned the corner nonchalantly, taking a few long strides down the new street before stopping and almost immediately locating the source of the Reiatsu. She wasn’t very good at controlling or sensing it, but it wasn’t hard to pinpoint when the source of it stuck out like a sore thumb. Bright teal hair, style to cover a Karakura Town valley girl ten times over, and walking out of one of the more expensive clothing stores in the area. Somehow Blu became suddenly less confident in their chances, and plus, this girl reeked of the stench of a proper Quincy, which put her on edge as well.
“Oh well, what better way to make friends, right?” She mumbled to herself before taking a few more steps forward, putting on the most confident grin she could in the moment. “Hey there, uh, lady! Sorry to bother you, but…” Suddenly, the three-story-tall behemoth of a Hollow came crashing through the intersection, sliding to a half just before beginning to fall out of sight. “…you wouldn’t mind helping me keep the beastie entertained for a bit, would ya?”

Anyone with even an ounce of spiritual awareness would have to be a complete dullard not to notice the rampaging aura of a Hollow seemingly gone mad. Alana had intentionally chosen to ignore the presence earlier in lieu of enjoying a bit of personal girl time. Her reasoning? The pure and simple fact that as a Quincy, her powers could only prove to be a bane on any Hollow she encountered. "Sorry, I need you to take these and head on back without me. I'll call a cab when I'm ready to leave..." Alana instructed her assigned driver to make the drive home without her. He responded with little objection other than to remind Alana to stay safe and be careful, accepting the additional store bags, including Alana's latest fashion purchase, and placed them in the seat originally intended for her. "I'll be careful" She waved as the driver and her ride drove off.
All of this, right after she'd noticed the Quincy fast approaching... And she brought in tow with her, the very thing Alana had been avoiding today... A big, nasty, Hollow. Her Driver's Mercedes pulled away just as the new arrival spoke out to her. "Keep it entertained... Are you crazy!? Why'd you lure it into a populated area!?" Alana shouted her rebuke at the redhead girl. With a motion that may have seemed far too practiced for any regular person, Alana pulled at the trinket on her bracelet. A fraction of a second later, her Quincy bow manifested. Drawn taut, she prepared a shot. Practice makes perfect, and what better time to try out her new technique than now. She didn't expect to hear objections from a Quincy, given that most of them preferred to kill Hollows on sight. No, if anything she expected an objection for what she planned to do next...
The beast was... Huge! Alana spared no more time in letting loose her arrows, which spun through the air at speeds no mortal would be able to comprehend. Reishi threaded between the arrows fired, forming an energy net as they flew towards their target. But just as she thought she'd calculated the trajectory correctly, the Hollow halted its movements. The shot flew wide, striking and wrapping around a nearby telephone pole instead of its intended target. Alana cursed. Had it noticed her attack and purposely avoided it? She could feel its presence more now than she had earlier. There was no way in hell she'd be able to stand up to this thing's strength...! The Hollow paused a moment to look at the tangled reishi mess, then it's eyes drew over to where the attack had originated from, looking Straight at Alana and also spotting its original target.
"We need to lure it someplace more confined, and with less people around. That way it can't avoid my shots." Alana instructed the newcomer while simultaneously falling in line with the redhead's steps as they both fled from the monster. Proper introductions would need to wait until they'd managed to figure out what to do about the Hollow threat first.
“What!? You think I lured it…” She paused for a second. To be fair, that would probably be a decent assumption to make, given that she had just lead it around the corner into the newbie’s life. However, the Hollow had already been in a populated area… Blu just so happened to have accidentally happened upon it and woken it up during her travels. It didn’t seem very happy about that. “Doesn’t matter. It’s here now, so we’ve got trouble on our hands now. Or mine, anyway.” She watched as the newbie fired some kind of Reishi net at the gigantic Hollow… which the behemoth proceeded to dodge with ease. So it was smart, too, or at least not completely idiotic. Even more great fun. As if on queue, she turned and began running down the street at the same time as the newbie, and the Hollow was quick to follow.
“Someplace confined? Sure, I’ll make sure to call up the nearest Empty Warehouse Emporium. I’m sure they’ve got great deals in the middle of a major shopping area!” She didn’t mean to sound rude, but sometimes words just came out of her mouth. And sometimes they had a point, too! This area wasn't exactly overflowing with alleys or smalls spaces, or large enclosed areas. So getting the Hollow 'confined' would be... difficult. Still, great first impression, Blu! You’re rocking it! “But we do need to get it to stay relatively still. If we keep this up, it’s only a matter of time before the beastie knocks over a building or somethin’.” She glanced back at the Hollow, following fast on their heels, but somehow not causing much in the way of collateral damage… a mirror snapped off a car here, a street light knocked down there… nothing major, right?
“Here, maybe this’ll work!” She turned on her heels and slid to a halt, crouching down to place her left hand on the pavement as her right held her mace steady, before darting back towards the Hollow. It bucked, pulling back and throwing its arms into the air, ready to throw them down on the Quincy. “Not fast enough!” She gripped the mace’s handle with both hands and swung with all her might towards the joint between the Hollow’s foot and leg, striking it… and effectively doing nothing, though the Hollow did stop for a moment, before rearing its left arm back again and swiping towards Blu.
She got her mace up just in time to block the brunt of the attack, but it sent her flying into the wall of a nearby building. She fell to the ground, wavering for a second, before turning and running back towards the newbie, narrowly dodging a second strike from the Hollow as she went. “So, that could’ve gone better.” She shook her head, forcing out the aches in her back that surely would be bruises, if not worse, in the morning. Assuming she lived that long. “Got any new ideas?”

"Right..." Alana sighed. This new girl was correct in noting the trouble they were in. Regardless of what the reasons were, the fact remained that this hollow wasn't going to simply sit by and do nothing now that it was awake and seemed intent on chasing them down. What mattered most now was finding a way to reduce the damages and potential chaos to a minimum as much as possible until someone strong enough to actually take on the beast arrived. It was entirely possible and she could do that as long as the monster stayed still long enough for her to get her technique around him...
The redheaded Quincy's words hung in the air and on Alana's brain even as she recklessly charged at the hollow and delivered a successful attack. Though the only success was in her actually landing the attack. "Ah...!" Alana shouted as the other Quincy's form flew into the wall of a nearby building, causing Alana to cringe at the sight of it. Damn that looked painful...!
"Are you alright?" Alana asked, quickly looking over the redhead once the other girl had rejoined the retreat. They had to keep moving... there was no way they could avoid more blows like that if they didn't. And if this girl couldn't damage the Hollow with her mace, it was highly likely her own skills in Muay Thai would be useless as well. "You might be on to something, and I think I know where we can go to trap this thing and stop its movements! Follow me!" She responded enthusiastically despite the clear and obvious sarcasm that'd filled the other girl's suggestions. With a goal now set, Alana darted around a street corner with the other party hopefully still in close quarter as they continued to flee from the enormous Hollow. "They shut down one of the underground subway lines for maintenance about a week ago due to concerns for safety and integrity. I think it's still under maintenance because I had to get a ride into town today." Alana stated. It was true. She wasn't fond of having to take the Mercedes AMG out when she could attract less attention by simply using the subway systems in town.
Alana dipped around another corner and spotted the thing she was looking for. Orange cones and a line of construction tape bordering one of the city's underground subway entrances. It was abandoned, save for the occasional person walking by but still gave the site a wide berth simply out of concern for their own safety... Perfect! If they led the beast in there then they could minimize civilian casualties, force the beast into a tight space where it couldn't move around or cause too much damage to the area around itself, and she could possibly even contain it to further reduce its ability to keep causing havoc. "There!" Alana shouted, pointing out the subway site to her unwitting partner. It was a large double pathway entrance, just barely large enough to fit the beast should it pursue them down inside. Alana abruptly stopped in her tracks, turning back to face the Hollow. "Hey Fatso! Over here!" She shouted, raising her bow and charging an arrow before releasing it at the hollow. If it hadn't been wholly intent on chasing just them, it would be now as Alana's arrow struck the large beast's left shoulder. The Hollow let out a roar, a mix of pain and rage seething out and shaking the air around them. A chill ran down Alana's spine. Charged to intensity as it was, her arrow hadn't done much damage aside from enraging the monster. Allowing her bow to dissipate back into the trinket on her wrist, Alana turned on her footing like a madwoman and made a dash for the subway as the beast's fists slammed into the spot where she'd just been standing. This was extremely dangerous and Alana's expression was far from calm as her heart screamed at her from somewhere inside of her throat. She'd been a mere second away from getting crushed to death...!
“I’m gonna feel it in the morning, but other than that, yeah, I’m good.” She sighed for a moment. That was reckless, and she should’ve known better. Un would have scolded her, and she would’ve made a snarky comment back. She missed those days. “I probably shouldn’t try anything like that again though!” She put on a playful grin, continuing with the retreat, the Hollow seemingly intent on pursuing them; that was good at least. As long as they could keep the beastie on them, damage could be kept to a relative minimum. However, while she had been absent-mindedly trying to trip a behemoth of a Hollow, the other Quincy had somehow, possibly, gotten a good idea out of Blu’s jab at the enclosed area suggestion. “Got it, boss!” She cheerfully chirped, pausing for but a moment before following the girl around the corner, making sure to keep the Hollow’s attention.
Soon the target came into view, a large tunnel into the subway tunnels that had been under construction for a while. “Ah, the subway, yeah! I slept th~” She paused for a moment, unsure whether now was the time to mention her lack of consistent housing. “~rooooough a ride on one of the trains there not too long ago. Good idea!” She kept running as the girl stopped and turned to fire an arrow at the beastie, which roared and continued to pursue. As she ran down the steps, skipping two to three at a time, she could see the damage that the Hollow would probably do on its way through. Poor construction crew! But she supposed that was what they got for shutting down public transportation, though for a good reason…
Focus, Blu!
Soon she made her way out into the open area of the boarding area; it was large, but not so large that the Hollow would be able to stretch out too much. That was good. Whatever the other girl had in mind, this was probably the place for it. And all Blu had to do was be a good decoy. One of her favorite thing to do!
She twirled on her feet as she reached the bottom of the stairs, rushing around a corner and away from the stairs, hoping the other girl would continue to run straight out into the open area. Raising her Reiatsu a little, she turned back towards the stairs and brandished her mace just as the Hollow would come crashing down to the bottom of the steps. “You want a snack, beastie!? Come get it!”

Her heart still racing like crazy, Alana jumped off the remaining few stairs at the bottom and continued running down the subway platform. She didn't want to be anywhere near the entrance once that beast came crashing down. And crashing it did indeed come, smashing the railing which separated the upward staircase from the downward one. Sure they'd lured it down here, but Alana wasn't entirely sure her arrow technique would be strong enough to hold the monstrous Hollow for very long while they waited for someone else to come to their aid... And a major point to Alana's initial plan came crashing to a halt when she saw what lay ahead in the station... "Why is there a subway train here...?" Instead of an open pathway onto the tracks, there sat a passenger train. The thing was at least several cars long and spanned in both directions down either end of the tunnel. Her intents to lure the beast into the more constricted tunnel would be extremely difficult to do with a train sitting in the way...
Alana turned around at the other Quincy's taunt, pulling at her trinket and reforming her bow. The station area was a bit more open than she'd hoped for dealing with the monster but it still beat facing the thing out on the open streets. Regular pillars dotted the subway station. Thick with concrete, likely reinforced inside with steel beams. The monster was big and tough but maybe, just maybe what it held in size and toughness would mean it sacrificed some of its raw power and strength.
The beast must have been thinking something similar as it glanced around before reaching out with its right hand to grab onto one of the pillars. Alana didn't think, merely fired off her shot. If the Hollow was strong enough to rip pillars out from their sockets then this thing arming itself would be very bad news, especially since it'd still have plenty of room in the station area itself with which to swing the thing. Alana's arrow aimed true this time, if only because the beast was distractedly searching for a weapon to use. The net of Reishi wrapped around the beast's hand just as it grabbed hold of a nearby concrete pillar. The arrows tethering the net spun and wove the mesh together around the Hollow's arm before piercing and sticking to its flesh.
"Yes! I got it!" A small celebration to the benefit of her attack. Given the size of the monster it would take several more shots to fully subdue the Hollow. And then all joy Alana had felt in her accomplishment flushed away along with the color in her face. The Hollow, annoyed as it seemed to be, roared in irritation at the constriction of its right hand. But given that its hand was already around the pillar it decided to make use of the predicament. With one forceful shove the top of the concrete reinforced steel beam separated from the ceiling. With an even greater pull in the opposite direction the bottom of the pillar cracked and subsequently separated from the floor... "That... is not good..." Alana exhaled in hushed horror. Rather than stopping the beast in it's tracks like she'd thought she could, her technique had instead just ensured that the beast couldn't be disarmed...
Tangan crouched, his 4' dog figure hiding behind the lip of the buildings roof. The air carrying the scent of Quincy, the dirty breed of human solely devoted to the death and destruction of Hollows and the souls that they carried. They were a rare breed, a variety that he had heard of but never really seen in person- ...dogson…? He had never seen himself. All he knew was that if there was a Quincy about then other hollows would be drawn to the scent. A death of a hollow at the hands of a quincy meant the death of all the souls that it had consumed and that could not be. Not when most hollows eat innocent am much as they eat guilty souls. The Quincy must go. There was no room for the meaningless death of a hundred souls at the expense of a single life that would simply turn to a soul afterwards.
Crouching on the rooftop only his eyes and the top of his head are visible, the dog ears twitching with each incoming sound as she went about her business, Tengan suppressing his energy as far as he could so that the distance and his skill would keep him from being noticed. At this distance there was little chance that she would be able to tell that he was even here, the tingle of another hollow in the area likely masking his own energy. Looks like its already started... His stomach growls, the lack of food for nearly a day and a half making him both desperate and easily agitated. Normally he would not be so prone to aggression but he needed food. He needed to consume some kind of soul, the hospital that he normally stalks not having any recent deaths. At the very least he would be able to make a meal of this quincy girl and buy himself another day. This happens every year though, the holidays making the patients slightly more hopeful so they are less likely to give into death and cutting his food supply until the hope passes. Afterwards though was always a feast, souls unable to move on becoming apart of him and joining him in his efforts to survive. It was all a circle.
Scooting forward he watches, resting his head on the ledge of the roof and watching her, a pair of phone calls and stopping as she can obviously feel it. A hollow running a muck near by. 'Shoregrip'…that mindless beast was at it again, drawing attention and causing chaos. How he hadn't been put down by a Shinigami yet was a wonder to Tengan. Staying low he stalks...watching a second Quincy appear. Of course... Perhaps the trio would kill each other and he would get the left overs. Best to keep his distance and observe for now.
So they continue, darting to and fro until they descend a subway entrance. Awe... Edging up to the edge of the entrance he watches to see if he can make out what is happening below, the sound of mayhem echoing up the stair. um... Slowly reaching out with one paw he pauses at the sound of a rumble, the destruction below thundering about. Well, Shoregrip is still alive at least. Quickly and quietly he descends, taking cover behind the nearest pillar to observe from a mildly safe distance.
Blu didn’t have to wait long. Soon, the other Quincy came flying down the stairs and out into the station. Watching this, Blu finally took a good look around. No doubt the other had been planning to draw the Hollow further in, into the tunnels, to restrict its movement as a base line… how poor of luck they had, the train being stopped at this station for maintenance. So they had to deal with it here. The Hollow came down shortly after her, and Blu resumed her taunts, grabbing its attention. The behemoth lurched towards her, its back nearly scrubbing against the ceiling above, as it reached out and grabbed one of the support pillars for the station.
“Oh...”
As if on queue, the other Quincy launched her attack, seemingly the same trick she’d tried (and, hilariously, failed) to use earlier, except that this time it struck true. Which would be great… if the Hollow hadn’t already grabbed the pillar, which it yanked right out of its socket. The ceiling creaked, but it would hold; thank god the architects thought to make the station’s support based on more than one pillar. But, on the other hand, now the Hollow had a more open space to use its new weapon, which it drew back and swung towards the firey red-headed Quincy.
“...no.”
She leaned backwards, bending her knees and ducking under the pillar as it swung by hear, the end of it smashing into one of the parked train cars. At least they were empty, right? She swung back up to her feet and watched the Hollow closely. The plan remained the same; keep the Hollow at bay until a more capable party arrived to deal with it. The way she saw it, they couldn’t restrict it any more with the environment, and if they let it do as it pleased here, before long the station- and the street above it- would come crashing down on top of them. On one hand, that just might keep the Hollow still for a little while. On the other hand, Blu and the other Quincy would probably die. And anybody above ground at the moment.
So, that meant they had to incapacitate the beastie somehow, or at least keep it from destroying any more major structural necessities of the station.
She leaped up quickly, her mace dissipating and returning to the pendant she gripped tightly in her hand, as she brought her foot down on the Hollow’s head. She wasn’t strong enough for even this technique to kill the beastie, but at the very least it should throw it off balance if it struck. Nearly immediately, she reformed her mace, using the momentum to swing around and slam it full-force into the Hollow’s face and mask. With any luck, the first attack would throw it off balance, and the second send it stumbling back towards the stairs back up to the ground and, more importantly, the wall next to the stairs.
“You’re up!” Blu shouted towards the other Quincy as she fell, almost gracefully, back towards the floor below, landing on both feet and letting the momentum carry her into a crouched position, her mace falling to a comfortable position along the back of her neck.

She couldn't have asked for a more perfect setup! What she'd perceived as another failure on her part, quickly turned around as the other Quincy destabilized the Hollow's balance, sending it crashing into the wall next to the subway entrance. She gawked, finesse clearly and obviously beating out against raw power. They could do this. They could whittle the monster down, weaken it. And more important than anything else, she had the means with which to cage this thing until help could arrive to properly purify the Hollow itself.
"R-Right...!" Alana acknowledged the pass her partner gave. Raising her bow again, Alana charged another Nettle and fired it, aiming for a larger spread this time. The beast was recovering but its normal movements paled in comparison to the speed of her arrows. Spiraling, they spread wide their reishi webbing, Making contact with the oversized Hollow and the wall behind it, effectively trapping it. Yes!" Alana pumped her free hand in the air. Every bit of progress was a reason to celebrate in light of the monster they faced. If this much could keep it subdued then everything was going according to plan... Well mostly. She'd wanted to lure the thing deeper into the tunnel where it's movements would have been far more restricted but that obviously hadn't worked out. Alana kept her celebration short. She still needed to web this thing in even more than it already was. She'd managed to subdue it's torso. There were still both hands, feet, and even its head to consider.
Alana set her bow straight again, this time taking aim and readying her reishi to launch at the monster's free hand. The less mobility it had the better and easier it would be to keep it from moving at all. She fired a shot, possibly the most true aim she'd had all day. The arrows flew on target and struck, but so too... did something else. Alana flinched at the sight of something gleaming near the Hollow's head. It was... looking at her? The monster's mouth was opened... "Oh sh-" Alana had encountered enough Hollows to know what that was... There were only usually two possibilities and the more commonly weaker version was the only thing that could be charged and fired that quickly.
A volley of energy shot forth, aimed directly at Alana. The Hollow may have been all brawn and no brain but it knew enough to realize the bigger threat right now lay in Alana's ability to hinder its mobility. It was for this reason that the beast chose to eliminate her first. "Kyaah!" Alana screamed, a mixture of surprise and pain escaped her throat as the hollow's attack struck, and exploded. Was there even a humanly possible way for her to have avoided such an attack...?
The air felt heavy. Alana's ears rang as if sirens were wailing into and through both of them. There was a trickle of something playing across her forehead, down over her face... Blood...? She was still standing though... if only just barely. Alana winced as she tried to raise her bow arm, one eye sealed shut to ward off the flow of blood into her eye. One more shot... just one more shot was all she needed, if only her arm would listen to her...
How very...like him. Shoregrip was more than aggressive. He was a brute, reeking havoc where ever he went, murdering and feeding when ever he felt. He was rather iconic in his role as a hollow but at the same time, predictable. His actions were chaotic but with massive tells. A wonder that he managed to make it this far but his strength did play a decent role in that he drew attention where ever he went, overshadowing Tengans actions in his own feeding. These quincy though. If they did manage to kill him, scattering his spirit to the four winds, they would be destroying every soul he has consumed, destroying all the lives that were meant to be once more.
Tengan shifts behind the pillar, moving for a better vantage point to see Shoregrip swing another pillar like a club, narrowly missing one of the Quincy. Such a shame. Another attack now, a darts of energy impacting like a shower. They had landed several blows against each other but it seemed that in all truth that once again, Shoregrip was going to win. This insanity would have to end though. Shoregrip was too much for these people to deal with for much longer, the incessant deaths and constant vanishings. He was a problem that has gotten out of hand. Slowly peaking out from around the pillar he moves to expose himself, waiting for the moment to pounce...
Everything seemed to be going fine now. Her attacks had succeeded in pushing the Hollow back against the wall, where the other Quincy could use her nets to try to bind it. Without skipping a beat, she followed through, as Blu took a few hops back to stay out of range, just in case the Hollow could escape it. Luck was on their side, however, as it seemed the nets bound the Hollow; maybe not perfectly, but it would give time to bind it more effectively. The other Quincy fired another shot, binding one of the Hollow’s free arms; however, neither of them had predicted that the Hollow would resort to its arsenal or ranged attacks in this situation. A simple mistake to make, but one made by both of them. The energy roared from the Hollow’s mouth almost in time with the Quincy’s second net, and the other Quincy was consumed by the energy, an explosion following.
“NO!” Blu screamed, running towards the Quincy before the smoke even cleared. “Are you alright, uh…” She paused for a moment, realizing that she didn’t know the other Quincy’s name. She could see her through the smoke, but just barely. Luckily, the damage wasn’t too severe, but she had definitely taken too much of a beating to continue the fight. Without her being able to bind the Hollow further, Blu would just have to make do somehow on her own. She spun her mace around, kicking up a gust that blew the smoke away in a short distance around them.
She had done this just in time to see that the Hollow was charging up another Cero, this one holding back to make it stronger, trying to finish the job. On top of that, the air around them was beginning to feel thicker and heavier… was this beastie actually getting stronger as this went on? In that case, the only chance she had of settling this was using that technique. She still had a few kinks to work out with it, but hell, that might actually prove useful here. She held back her mace, feeling her own energies pack Reishi into the head of the mace. It bulged, as if it were ready to burst.
The Hollow let out a roar, the entire station trembling, and Blu let out a battle cry of her own as the Hollow released the Cero; she tried to swing her mace, releasing her own attack, but suddenly the pressure in the air doubled down, stopping her movement entirely, the head of the mace dissipating into the air with an anti-climactic fizzle.
Was this how it ended? She couldn’t even protect the unfortunate soul she’d dragged into her mess?

A bench nearby had been avoiding damage throughout the brawl that the two quincies and hollow had been having. The more observant of people might realize that there was not a single piece of rubble being thrown on it, and around it, there was a clearly distinguishable, rectangular shape where dust had been prevented from landing inside said rectangle. Within that area was a soul reaper who was making use of his 'Shallow Grave' kido, which sealed all of his spiritual pressure and scent inside of a barrier. The barrier also caused light to move straight through it and anything inside, which meant that the light didn't reflect properly, making them invisible to the naked eye. Those who could physically see reishi, would see a reasonably large prism, but not the being inside.
That same soul reaper had been reading a book about using a forge to craft weapons. More specifically, the fundamental basics of using a forge. Different striking techniques and whatnot... His reading was interrupted by the battle, but he pushed on, ignoring it the best he could while trying to get to a good stopping point. After he heard the loud explosion from the hollow's bala hitting Alana, Mitsuoki let out a soft sigh and began standing up. By this point, Blu had begun charging up her attack and Mitsuoki had begun reading faster in an attempt to get to the end of the paragraph. He was on the last sentence when he felt a strong pressure coming from the hollow, which overpowered the Quincy's several fold and let Mitsuoki know that he'd run out of time.
The sounds of glass shattering would be heard as Mitsuoki forced his barrier to break, letting him use his flash step to get between Alana and Blu, and the hollow. His left hand contained the book, which he was still reading from to finish that last sentence. His right hand was outstretched with a silver energy flying up from his shoulder to his finger tips, just as the cero was maybe five or six centimeters from the appendage. The light from the Cero had consumed Mitsuoki almost entirely; and, when the attack made contact with Mitsuoki's hand, the silver pulse of energy jumped from his finger to the Cero. As the energy transferred, the very tip of the blast had turned to a red crystal and shattered. Mitsuoki's silver pulse, a defensive technique he appropriately named 'Petrify,' had continued traveling up the cero with each and every millimeter of the energy attack being reduced to a shattered crystal that broke off and gracefully dropped to the ground.
The hollow's eyes narrowed and it said "Nani...?" while glaring down at Mitsuoki, who still had his hand held out. The hand was withdrawn and he reached into his robe, marking the paragraph he left off on. "You are not the hollow I was expecting to find." he said, putting the pencil in between the pages before closing the book. The book was then dropped, landing flat on the ground with a distinct smacking sound. Mitsuoki grabbed the hilt of his zanpakuto and said "Mitsuoki Kumagai, squad three. And you are?" while looking at the hollow. It had asked "That is none of your concern, Shinigami." in a cold tone. "In the event that I am defeated, I would want to know the name of my killer." The hollow let out a groan and reluctantly said "Shoregrip." to which Mitsuoki replied "Well met, Shoregrip."
Mitsuoki slowly drew his zanpakuto while trying to gauge the hollow's strength. It was clearly above the level of the two Quincy girls, but he wasn't sure if it was so strong that it would require him to release his weapon. Shoregrip had also held off on attacking him outright. He could tell, even with Mitsuoki not unleashing the full might of his spirit pressure, that the soul reaper was quite strong- around the same level as an experienced captain, but not the strongest ones. Mitsuoki had vanished with a flash step and appeared near the base of the hollow's leg, swinging and grazing the blade of his unreleased weapon against the thick carapace. Sparks were released, but there was no cut left behind. The hollow had motioned to crush him under a fist, but Mitsuoki had already used flash step to move back to where he originally stood. "Your blade is dull, Shinigami." the hollow commented. Mitsuoki had replied by placing both hands on the grip of his katana and said "Give and Take, Create and Destroy..." he moved one hand forward, the hand seeming to phase through the grip of his blade. He took a dual-wielding stance as two swords appeared in his hands as he said "...Push and Pull, Akatsuki to Tasogare." The blades he now held were longswords that were dual wielded. One was pure white, the other pure black, both with a ring with a glowing sphere where a guard should've been.
"A zanpakuto release. Let's hope it's sharper than before." Shoregrip taunted, to which Mitsuoki said "It isn't." with an aloof tone. "My zanpakuto doesn't rely on cutting my opponent to bring them down, it relies on an increasingly random effect that even I cannot control." the hollow's only comment for that was "How useless."
Mitsuoki put on a gentle smirk before using his flash step to get closer to the hollow. Shoregrip had anticipated him trying another cut on the leg and preemptively aimed his punch at the spot. The bait having been taken, Mitsuoki had held up his blades, letting them make contact with the fist while also angling to redirect the attack away from himself. The hollow had moved his leg to kick Mitsuoki, the smaller shinigami lept to the side while spinning, grazing the blades of his now released zanpakuto against the appendage before using flash step to move back a little. "Penalty Game." he said calmly, making the hollow let out a slightly confused grunt. The places where his blade had hit the hollow, two on the hand and two on the leg, had begun glowing and caught his attention. The spots then exploded, knocking the hollow on his side.
Shoregrip was given no time to recover before Mitsuoki had dashed forward using his Pulse ability and jumped to be above him. A silver energy consumed the two zanpakuto that were being raised over Mitsuoki's head. He brought them down in an "x" formation, firing a crescent shaped energy blast from both that immediately impacted the hollow and exploded. It was thought that, that would be enough to finish the creature, but Mitsuoki was sorely mistaken and found that out when a fist shot out of the smoke and impacted him, sending him to the ceiling where he nearly let go of his swords. As Mitsuoki was falling back down, Shoregrip had raised his hand to swat the shinigami like a fly, but only swatted air as the soul reaper vanished with a flash step, reappearing not far from the Quincies.
"You already said you weren't expecting me, shinigami. Why are you defending those two?" the hollow asked, harkening back to when he stopped the Cero instead of letting it consume the girls. Mitsuoki, kneeling down with the tip of one of his swords on the ground, replied "Because... A soul reaper's duty is to protect the living..." He then stood up and his spiritual pressure began increasing just a little, enough to give off the fact that he was far from defeated without completely crushing the bystanders. "Your strength has increased since the beginning of our battle." he said, noting that he felt a lot more air pressure before he flash stepped. "I was hoping you wouldn't notice that so soon. Yes, as the fight is prolonged, I grow increasingly stronger and faster." Mitsuoki had then said "That is not all."
While Mitsuoki hadn't seen the entire battle, he was able to feel spiritual pressure. Shoregrip was strong when he attacked the Quincies, but he got stronger after getting underground, where Mitsuoki was. It was only after he got underground that he began using energy attacks, meaning he knew that he had gotten stronger. "The more spiritual beings around me there are, the stronger I become. It is the reason-" "Why you were able to defeat multiple soul reaper units that were dispatched to deal with you." Shoregrip had confirmed that, which had earned no emotional response from him.
Mitsuoki held his two blades out to his side and let them begin falling to the ground. Just before they would impact the stone floor of the subway, Mitsuoki shot a glare at the hollow and said "Bankai... King of Enlightenment." which caused the two swords to immediately erupt into spirit particles before reassembling in the sheath at his waist. The hollow looked around for a few seconds. Awkward silence took on the room as nothing happened... There was no increase in spiritual pressure from Mitsuoki, no change at all in it, and there was nothing to even announce a bankai being used. "You insult your own kind with that lie... or was it that your zanpakuto rejected your order to enter bankai?" Shoregrip asked.
Mitsuoki hadn't said anything, just pointed at the hollows upper arm. "Hrm?" the monstrosity questioned, turning his head and arm to get a better look at the spot. A tattoo that looked like five, interlocked eclipses had appeared on his arm where no markings at all had been before. "You seem to know a little about Bankai. I will remind you that Bankai are just as varied as Shikai, and mine is the green sheep among black sheep." Mitsuoki commented in a very calm, but not arrogant tone. "My bankai is not so generous as to show how powerful it is with some flashy display. It does not make me seem any stronger, nor does it allow you to guess what it does. However, I will tell you this much, everything within one hundred meters is completely submerged in my bankai."
At this point, the same markings would appear on both of the quincies as well as the other hollow, who Mitsuoki had not fully noticed due to his spiritual pressure being overcome by the adjucha's. The two girls would possibly notice a glowing light under their clothes, right in the middle of their chests, where the tattoo would shine through. It was an unfortunate part of Mitsuoki's Bankai; but, a good king is never biased. He held his hands out and a pair of swords that held the exact same dimensions as his zanpakuto's shikai had appeared in his hands, each connected to his wrist by a cable. Both swords and the cable were silver in color, exactly like Mitsuoki's reiatsu. Mitsuoki let the hilt of one sword go, causing it to slide from his hand, before catching it by the Tether and beginning to spin it vertically, next to his being. "I apologize for this, Shoregrip, but by the terms of my Bankai, I am no longer at liberty to show you mercy." he said before yanking the cable and sending the previously spun sword flying, blade first, towards Shoregrip with the cable seeming to lengthen to allow it to keep going. When it hit the ground, a result of the large hollow moving backwards to dodge, the place it hit erupted and sent rocks flying.
A jerk on the cable caused the sword to return to Mitsuoki who was running towards the hollow. He flash stepped and appeared within the creature's striking range. He began swinging the sword but let go of it mid swing, allowing the weapon to fly forward and the cable to hook onto the hollow's neck. A quick tuck and roll to avoid being hit by the hollow's hand, and Mitsuoki had grabbed the cable and yanked it, pulling Shoregrip's head down to Mitsuoki's level where he tried to make a slash at his throat. Shoregrip had pulled himself up and to the side, making Mitsuoki hit his collar bone instead. A set of tattoos appeared there, too. At this point, Shoregrip had already lost the battle. Mitsuoki was just playing with his food.
A ball of energy had been formed at the hollow's mouth and Mitsuoki used his pulse to shoot himself between the hollow's legs, dodging the bala that it fired by a hair. The hollow grabbed the cable that was attached to his neck and Mitsuoki's wrist and tugged it hard, pulling the soul reaper back under him. He then went on to use that same cable to send Mitsuoki flying into a nearby ticket booth, one that was behind the girls, snapping the cable in the process. "A kido based bankai with barely any cutting power is completely useless against-" a silver ball of energy shot from the booth that was identical to the size and speed of a bala, hitting Shoregrip in the mouth and making him let out a "-KWUAGH!" and end his gloating.
Mitsuoki had been on the other side of the shattered ticket booth's glass with his fist extended in a punching form, a technique he made himself as an answer to the hollow's fastest attack. He was smiling, not smirking- smiling. "You know, Shoregrip..." he said while moving himself over the counter. "...Before you and your company arrived, I had witnessed a human pour his heart out to a woman just to be rejected spectacularly. Seeing as something like you is capable of attracting such beautiful company means that there may be hope for that man." The hollow's eyes narrowed on Mitsuoki and he asked "You calling me ugly, shinigami?" to which Mitsuoki replied "You're certainly not one of the cute ones, here."
The hollow let out a roar and began charging towards Mitsuoki, and the quincies by default. Mitsuoki had said "Vertigo" which immediately resulted in the hollow tripping over a train track and eating the dirt. Mitsuoki stepped forward, getting between the quincies and the hollow once more. "Vertigo is a condition where your balance is thrown off. My bankai ruins yours by roughly fifty percent for each of those tattoos. That will change in a matter of moments, so don't get too comfortable." The hollow began getting up as soon as he finished talking, making it seem as though Mitsuoki had used up his precious few moments, but in reality, he was just being a sadist- something he would never admit to being.
Shoregrip charged forward, sending a punch that Mitsuoki sidestepped with an aloof expression. "What ails you, Shoregrip? You seem slower." he taunted, right before slashing the arm with his one remaining rei-sword, leaving another set of tattoos. The hollow jumped back at his normal speed, the effect having already changed. The hollow had tried to return to Hueco Mundo to recover, but realized that his ability to portal out had stopped functioning. Mitsuoki had shot forward with a brand new Rei-Sword formed and spun, slashing at the hollow's stomach and landing a successful hit. Shoregrip now knew fear, and he responded by doing the only thing he could. He tried to punch Mitsuoki and stared in fear as his fist was stopped by just Mitsuoki's hand, without even a crater. His strength was virtually gone... "Muscular Atrophy." Mitsuoki had said from under the fist. At the same time, one of Mitsuoki's bankai tattoos appeared on his cheek. It was a penalty game for him, but he was used to his zanpakuto's chaotic nature- Shoregrip was not.
Mitsuoki vanished from under Shoregrip, causing the hollow's fist to drop to the ground with his strength fully restored, hearing the words "Spiritual Atrophy" being said right before Mitsuoki reappeared, dropping his heel on the hollow's skull, splitting his mask and sending the hollow careening back, screaming from pain. Mitsuoki's leg was bleeding from the hit, a side effect of him also having a mark. It was bleeding, but far from broken. He hadn't even noticed it due to him using his zanpakuto's ability to shut off his pain receptors. Mitsuoki had flash stepped backwards and stood with with his hands resting comfortably inside a pair of pockets in his shihakusho. "You seem to be having some trouble with handling a kido-based bankai, Shoregrip." he said in a cold tone. His posture would imply that he was in no way hindered by his cut foot.
Shoregrip had stopped his whining and turned to Mitsuoki to begin charging a Cero, something that had already failed him once before. A set of black swords rose from the ground and white ones appeared from out of nowhere, all blades positioned together to form a wall between himself and the hollow. When the cero was fired, it hit the wall of swords and was stopped immediately, with the blades moving a little. Shoregrip's eyes grew wide when he saw the blades standing between him and his target. The blades all turned to point at Shoregrip and Mitsuoki rested his hand on the side of one, saying "Resonate, Keihatsu no Ō." causing them all to glow before firing a blast of silver energy. Shoregrip tried to roll to the side and dodge them, but one had grazed his leg, burning away a chunk of the limb and making the rest of it useless.
Something had begun dripping from the hollow's eye, through the hole in its mask. Black liquid, the same happened for its hands and places where Mitsuoki hadn't even cut. The hollow began shaking from adrenaline, fear, and pain. It was supporting its weight on its forelimbs while keeping the injured leg off the ground. "What... what is this...!?" it hollered while looking at Mitsuoki for an answer. "Every capillary in your body just bursted. With no way of escaping to a proper vein, the blood pushes through any exit it can find, which is normally the glands on your skin and tear ducts. You will bleed to death." he replied coldly. With no way of leaving and an injury that would prevent escaping, Shoregrip had no choice but to accept his fate. He would rather end the suffering at this point than try and fight against someone who clearly didn't have a heat. "Please... end this..." he said while bowing his head to expose his neck. Mitsuoki's black and white blades vanished and a large, white sword, appeared over the hollow's neck. "You did well to force me to use my bankai. Do not feel shame in your defeat, but honor in the victories you have had. Lastly, never forgive me." Mitsuoki said before the blade crashed down and turned the hollow into a flurry of light blue spirit particles. His soul, and the souls of every soul he consumed were purified and sent off.
After the Fight
With the battle concluded, Mitsuoki would turn to check on the two girls. If the other hollow had attacked them, Mitsuoki would expect the women to be able to hold out for as long as possible.
If they were not being attacked by the hollow, that Mitsuoki did not pay any heed to, the soul reaper would walk over to his book and pick it up without dismissing his Bankai. He would bow to the two politely and say "I am Mitsuoki Kumagai, non-officer of Squad Three of the thirteen court guard squads. My negligence has caused you both a degree of trouble. With your permission, I wish to heal your wounds, please." in a very calm tone. His expression lacked any emotions at all, and his eyes carried the same cold elegance that one would expect of nobility. The fact that he hadn't killed them on the spot would be their only way of knowing that he was being sincere.

"My name's Alana. Nice to meet you." She spoke to the other Quincy's hesitation with a smile that hurt a little with the strain on her muscles so she let her face fall back to a neutral expression before turning her attention back to the Hollow they were fighting. At least she was still in the fight and ready to kick some butt. Though it looked pretty hopeless if they weren't able to get this monster bound and under control. To think the thing was strong enough to form energy attacks. They'd really underestimated this thing hadn't they...
"Look out!" Alana shouted, noticing the Hollow was getting ready to fire off another energy attack, even as the other girl was making her attempt to attack it. Her outcry was slightly delayed though. Unfortunately she too didn't know the other party's name yet... They really should have started off with introductions it seemed...
Aside from the obvious ruckus before them Alana hadn't been entirely unaware... The sound of shattering glass drew her attention especially since nothing had actually flown in the direction she'd heard the noise from. Alana's open eye widened. Where had the shinigami come from!? She was fairly certain the place had been empty when they'd arrived. Her eye narrowed to a scowl though when she noticed what he held in one hand was an opened book. Seriously? What the hell!? Had he just been hanging out and reading while they were over here putting their lives on the line? That aside though... What exactly had he just done to the Hollow's energy? Alana stared on in disbelief at the crystalization of the hollow's attack...
Alana took this time to fall to her knees, her bow dissipating until only her trinket remained. She wasn't going to be able to use it anymore anyway... And yet despite the dire situation it looked like the Shinigami was on their side. At least for now... But he was talking to the thing... Why exactly...? What was the point of talking to something if-... it must be a respect thing Alana thought, realizing that the shinigami just voiced a vote of no confidence... or was he playing? She couldn't really tell...
A Zanpakuto release... so he was stronger than most of the ones she typically observed patrolling around town at night... If only they knew she'd let herself sit up late some nights and watch them skip from rooftop to rooftop while they scanned the area for threats. But his fighting effectiveness was rather unusual... Either way she'd put her faith in his abilities. It wasn't like she or the other girl could really do much at this point. It hadn't been a fair fight from the start.
Alana's unusually long pointy ears perked up at the Hollow's curious question about why the shinigami was defending them. His response. The fact that he responded to the Hollow at all was surprising, but even more surprising was his answer. To protect the living? While that might be the case, it didn't seem like the answer a shinigami would give in regards to a pair of Quincy girls... Her thoughts shifted to the facts and the shinigami's next statement. He was right, she could feel the Hollow's presence growing stronger as the fight progressed... The beast's response only filled Alana with dread. Did that mean the more they delayed him and tried to stop him the more futile their efforts would have become?
B-Bankai...!? What!? This wasn't a normal shinigami at all! He was like... a top class shinigami! But it seemed like the Hollow knew a thing or two about bankai that she didn't know... He hadn't entered bankai? but he'd just said... Alana figured it best to assume the hollow didn't really know what he was talking about as she followed the shinigami's direction and noticed what he'd done to the hollow without its notice. A glowing around her chest area had Alana curiously looking down and lifting her shirt with her good hand. A wave of dread washed over her. Was he going to eliminate them too then? If so then it figured... shinigami and Quincy weren't exactly friends from her understanding. It was apparently more common for the two to come to blows than resolve things peacefully. No, actually that didn't make any sense given the shinigami's earlier words. If this was indeed an aggressive action against her and the other Quincy then it completely contradicted what he'd said... But when nothing beyond the mark merely appearing on her chest happened, Alana relaxed, if only a little bit and she continued to watch the unbelievable fight unfold before her.
The fight ended... with the complete and gruesome defeat of the Hollow... "Alana Lavelcorf..." Alana introduced herself, politely returning the introduction. Yeah she and the other Quincy should have introduced themselves to each other way earlier... it might have made their bit of fighting somewhat more effective at least... He'd asked if he had their permission to heal them but... Alana pushed herself back up to her feet with the aid of her good arm and promptly walked over to the shinigami. She had confidence he wasn't here to kill them by this point. She highly doubted he didn't already know who and what they were, which might be partly why she approached him as boldly as she had. Placing her good hand on the shinigami's shoulder and with some conviction Alana spoke. "Before that, I have a question for you. "I know it might sound stupid coming from a Quincy and all but... Is there a way that I can purify Hollows without destryoing their souls?" Alana's eyes shown with a sincerity towards her question as she asked it. After which if he answered, Alana gave him full permission to help with her injuries. Besides her head hurting from headache and some minor blood loss, she was certain some of the nerves in the shoulder of her bow-arm had been damaged by the hollow's attack.
Tengan slowly slipped back into the mild protection of the pillar, watching and observing the fight, his own mark appearing on his fur. Turning to sniff the foreign symbol he merely got a wiff of something else's energy. There was certainly something odd going on, this Shinigami's release somehow reaching out and marking everything in the area without movement or even a projectile. Skirting backwards he moves farther from the fight, Shoregrip not even knowing the lost battle at hand. Captains in the so called 'soul society' were the bane to hollows like them, each comparable to the strength of a Vasto Lorde. If this one knew its own bankai then even if the two hollows were to team up there would be little chance that they would survive.
Moving away Tengan takes the break in concentration to find his escape. He had received the scent of the two quincy and would be able to find them another day. This Shinigami though would prove to be his reaper if he decided to stay. Taking to the stairs he moves back into the mild freedom of the streets, jumping from trashcan to wall to roof. Navigating the city he heads to his home, perhaps there would be a meal waiting for him after all. A day had passed and human life is so fickle. Tengans paws, silently treading across the buildings vault him into another alley, hopefully the chance of being followed dying along Shoregrip.
Just as all hope seemed lost, and the Cero was mere meters from consuming both Quincies, a loud shattering sound announced the arrival… or, rather, reveal… of a Shinigami entering the area, whose mere touch crystallized the Hollow’s Cero. She’d never seen anything quite like it, but at the moment she couldn’t be bothered, as it meant that they were safe, if only for a moment. She heard Alana, the Quincy girl whose name she’d barely caught in the noisy mess moments before, fall to her knees behind her and rushed to try to help hold her upright as the Shinigami moved to take on the Hollow. It quickly became apparent just how outclassed they had been by the Hollow, and why, and just how much more incredibly outclassed they had all been by the newcomer as his Bankai’s mark appeared on everyone. Blu barely noticed the glow leaving the station as the second, less noticeable Hollow slipped out, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Once the battle was over, as spectacular and gruesome as it was, the Shinigami approached them, and Blu tensed up for a moment. He may have been fighting the Hollow, but he was still a Shinigami, who thus had every right to be suspicious if not hostile to Quincies, especially in these times. But as he spoke of wanting to heal them, she eased up a bit again. If he wanted to kill them, there wasn’t a damned thing that they would’ve been able to do about it anyway.
“The name’s Blu Min Feng,” she spoke kindly, joining in on the introductions and putting her hands up as a gesture that he could proceed as he liked, “and while the save was appreciated… was all that Shounen stuff about talkin’ through your powers as you went necessary? Like, what did you do, jump right out of a manga or somethin?” Before she realized it she was talking about it… as the fight had been going on she couldn’t help but throw a somewhat annoyed glance his way as he was talking through everything like he was the main character in a shonen anime or something. Like, was this guy even real?
“Alana…” Blu let out the name as a soft sigh as Alana asked her question of the Shinigami, which caught Blu off-guard. She’d met precious few Quincies in her life, barring her own family, and though her family had once taken pride in the ideals of following a path that would lead to coexistence with the Shinigami, rarely did any other Quincy ever share the sentiment. She had a feeling that had something to do with why her family was wiped out. Even in her own family, that prided itself on merely holding back Hollow so Shinigami could purify them, only she and her grandfather really believed in the ideal herself.
To meet another Quincy in this world that just happened to share that ideal put her at a loss for words, so she merely sat and listened, also curious for the Shinigami’s answer, or otherwise what may come of the question.

Mitsuoki was about to respond to the less injured female by asking his own set of questions, but was quickly cut off by the one who was barely being held together having something she wanted to say that she considered to be of greater importance. She wanted to know if there was a way to purify hollows without destroying their souls. He had to give her credit, that was definitely a first for Mitsuoki to hear, coming from a Quincy. Mitsuoki had reached over and pulled her hand to move it across to his other shoulder. "That matter may be discussed while I take care of your wounds." he said and began moving towards the bench to have her take a seat.
Once seated, Mitsuoki would gently remove her arm and kneel down in front her, inspecting the visual damage. A black eye was obvious, as well as considerably more bleeding than the other quincy girl. She was avoiding using one of her arms, so there was a possibility of a muscle strain or dislocation- he would have to investigate further. There was also potential damage from being hit on the head, she didn't black out as of yet, but she could be well on her way to it... While inspecting Alana's upper body, ignoring the chest region, Mitsuoki had addressed the Quincy who didn't take nearly as much damage. "To answer your question... Umm.. Blu...? Was it?" he said, asking for confirmation while hoping he didn't forget her name so soon. "I am not sure what much of your comparisons were, but yes, I do explain my abilities to my opponents. It is one of the requirements of my zanpakuto. Akatsuki enjoys playing games with her 'prey' as she calls them. However, she constantly changes the rules of the game. Tasogare allows her to play her games, but requires that I at least notify my opponent of the changes. That, and I find it unfair to use my bankai without at least letting my opponent know why they are suddenly experiencing various physical complications." he said in a calm voice.
"I am going to use kido to examine you on a more in depth level. It will hurt a little, but should be no worse than the existing pain." he informed Alana. Mitsuoki would then gently place his hand over Alana's forehead, closed his eyes and said "Kensa." in a very calm tone, sending a quick, but gentle pulse of spiritual pressure through Alana that would cause pain in her injured shoulder and head. Mitsuoki had gotten a look at her entire body, seeing that her shoulder was, indeed, dislocated but luckily not broken. She had several cuts, some deeper than others, but nothing that he couldn't heal. Her spine had no damage, and her nerves were, for the most part, doing just fine. Her black eye was just a result of blunt force trauma and shouldn't cause any permanent damage. Mitsuoki had opened his eyes and moved his hand to Alana's shoulder and said "This will ease the pain. Mukankuku." which would cause a grey energy to form over Alana's shoulder, and greatly reduce the amount of pain she was feeling. With his other hand, Mitsuoki held it over the shoulder and said "This will hurt. Seiretsu." With that one, Alana would feel her shoulder, the bones, veins, arteries, muscles -everything in the region of her rotator cuff- moving and hear a loud popping sound as he put it back in place. It wouldn't be immediate, so Mitsuoki decided to explain things to her to set an expectation...
"You were far too reckless. You have a very minor concussion, many lacerations, a dislocated shoulder, and the nerves are shot. My healing is barely sufficient to reverse this. The good news is that you may immediately return to your comrades, if you wish to. My bankai removes any evidence of my intervention, so no one would believe that you came across a shinigami, let alone healed you." The girls would hear the sound of a sword being drawn and see a black and white katana blade being formed near Alana's head. "I will have to remove my numbing spell to completely repair your arm. You may choose which color to bite down on- this will not be pleasant." he explained in a fairly aloof tone. He was making a light joke by letting her choose what to bite on, and, if Alana chose a sword, the back end would face her so she wouldn't cut her mouth open when the pain began. She might find it surprising that for weapons made from pure Light and Shadow, they blades were very much solid.
Once everything was in place, Mitsuoki would keep his kido in place to hold them there before his hand stopped glowing grey. This would allow Alana to feel the full amount of pain from her now burning, screaming nerves. "Naosu." he would say and envelope the area in a warm, white light. While that healing was in progress, Mitsuoki would ask "You said your name was Alana, correct?" if either girls had confirmed the name, Mitsuoki would say "The reason why Quincy weapons destroy a soul entirely is two-fold, I believe. A Quincy's soul cannot be converted or corrupted. When a hollow tries to corrupt it, the soul commits suicide and destroys itself. And, your weapons are made of raw, unaltered, reishi. Conversely, a shinigami's kido, while composed of reishi, is refined; and it is quite possible for us to merge with hollows. I do believe that it is possible to create a weapon that purifies hollows you kill, but it would require a great deal of effort. Possibly a mixture of materials."
By this point, the marks that Mitsuoki had inadvertently put on the two girls would fade away. Any scent, residual spirit energy, or any other thing that could be used to trace it back to Mitsuoki had also vanished. However, the marks were still there, and would never actually go away. Alana, if she had chosen to bite the sword, would have two of Mitsuoki's bankai markings on her, which was the equivalent of ten shikai marks- none of which could be detected. While he, himself was a very reserved man on an emotional and physical level, his zanpakuto spirits were less reserved and quite bored with the healing process. Seeing an opportunity to cause some mayhem, the spirit of the bankai version of his blades had momentarily taken on Akatsuki's nature and had implanted a very minor suggestion in the markings. This suggestion would be a primal, physical attraction to Mitsuoki with no emotional grounds. If either girl was not mentally strong enough to counter it, they would find themselves desiring the shinigami, but not desiring an official relationship with him(refer to OOC permission spoiler).
It would take around a half hour to heal the wounded arm, after which he would move his healing hand to Alana's head to heal the rattled, but not too terribly damaged, area. His other hand would remained over her shoulder, with Mitsuoki saying "Netsu Suru to Hiyasu." which would cause the area to begin gently heating and cooling, alternating between the two to relax the muscle. The headache wouldn't take nearly as long to heal as her arm did since the damage was significantly less. By this point, Mitsuoki would take away his other hand from the shoulder and aim it at Blu, saying "Naosu." to begin healing her. She didn't look like she had been significantly wounded, so the basic level of healing would be all that was needed. When they were both finished, Mitsuoki would say "Hankon Soshiki Jokyo." which would cause all of the scars from the battle to vanish, leaving behind completely natural skin. If there were any preexisting scars that needed removing, Mitsuoki would be happy to help with that. He would let out a breath of air and say "If you wish to help me create a weapon that Quincies can use, that also purifies souls, I would be more than happy to have some help. You see... I find this war to be entirely pointless, based on pride and an unwillingness to compromise. I wish to find a solution that does not involve the complete genocide of either people."
{Spoiler}Mitsuoki's zanpakuto is able to control anyone with 5 shikai markings (1 bankai), and the spirit Akatsuki is the one that represents everything that Mitsuoki dislikes or doesn't concern himself with, including sexuality. While in Bankai, the two spirits merge to create Keihatsu no O, but either spirit can momentarily become the dominant persona and inflict a random effect without his knowing.
The random effect Akatsuki implanted was a bodily attraction to Mitsuoki that has no emotional base, and would result in a friendship "with benefits" that would eventually go horizontal (done off screen & loosely implied to maintain the PG-13 rating) and takes a few threads before it fully kicks in and becomes known.
However, since this ability (Kokorogawari) is not calculated with Advantages/Disadvantage, there is no obligation to allow it and, if you would much prefer, can simply resist by saying your toon is far too mentally strong for the suggestion, or any number of other reason, or even no reason at all- literally it just randomly didn't work.

"Hm...?" The eyebrow of Alana's good eye raised. She hesitated at first when he slung her arm over his shoulder because she was fairly certain she could still walk properly. But he had offered to help heal her so she let it go.
"Oh. Sure." So did that mean he knew of a way she could take out hollows and purify them? In all honesty Alana hadn't really noticed the pain. she had a headache and her eye was sore, but her arm felt numb rather than painful? No there was still pain but... Alana took a seat on the bench per the Shinigami's instruction. He glanced over her condition before- "O-oi...!" His passing up on properly examining her chest did not go unnoticed but she decided not to make a huge fuss about it since he was helping her after all.
It was funny listening to the Shinigami explain his zanpakuto and their reasoning to them. It was even more strange that he had a dual zanpakuto. She couldn't recall ever seeing any shinigami wielding two of them before.
He proceeded with beginning the treatment of Alana's injuries. "You're like a doctor the way you explain everything you're going to do." Alana chuckled. She had a physician, though he mostly just looked after her physical well-being with regular checkups, physicals, and other doctor visits whenever necessary. The pain relief was surprisingly effective. Pain she hadn't realized she'd been feeling was becoming dulled by whatever technique the shinigami used, though she still winced when her dislocated arm was reset and popped back into place. She gave a small wary laugh at the shinigami's rebuke. Yeah perhaps engaging a Hollow they'd had no chance of beating was a bit reckless but it seemed like things turned out in the end. "It's what I do. Distracting the Hollows that appear helps keeps civilians safe." Alana gave a half smile. This Hollow hadn't been her first rodeo... though it certainly was one she'd be counting among the more perilous of encounters.
When it came time for him to properly repair Alana's injured arm, he pulled out both swords. One black, one white. "The White one..." Alana answered. A solid blade despite appearing to be made entirely out of light. A loud and whimpering cry escaped Alana's mouth as her teeth bit down on the sword while searing pain erupted through her entire shoulder region. Was it all from the relocation of the shoulder or had some of the pain been numbed by her own body's reaction to it and not just by the shinigami's technique? She thought of happy things while fighting back a wave of nausea from the pain she could feel. The shinigami's healing didn't come quite fast enough for her comfort but she held on while he did his work.
"Mhm..." Alana nodded through her teeth as she continued to hold the sword in her mouth to stave off the pain. That's right. He'd mentioned his name was Mitsuoki Kumagai earlier... She listened to his explanation of Quincy energy and abilities. Her eyes gleamed at the hope that some form of tool could actually be possible, wincing almost immediately as another wave of pain shot through her. She almost didn't care that another of the strange glowing markings had appeared on her body.
With her injuries gone and the pain having seemingly vanished, Alana jumped up from the bench once Mitsuoki had confirmed his completion of aid for her. Stretching her previously injured arm and flexing the fingers on her hand, Alana confirmed that everything including muscle and motor function was back in proper working order. "Thank you so much!" Alana launched herself at Mitsuoki, wrapping her arms around him and planting a kiss upon his cheek. "Ah...! S-sorry! I don't know what came over me just then..." Alana backed off of Mitsuoki to give him some of his space back. Strange... She didn't make a habit of jumping all over people on her first meeting. She'd usually wait until the second or third meeting to do something like that... "Anyway... I'd love to help you develop this weapon! It would be tremendously helpful for me as well if I could finally fight without having to worry about accidentally destroying souls in the process!"
Alana did have a passing curiosity to ask Mitsuoki why marks had appeared on Blu and herself during his fight, and again on herself after she'd bit down on his white sword but she figured the markings were probably just temporary anyway and kept silent about it.
There was little Blu could do but sit back and watch while this Mitsuoki guy proceeded with healing Alana, assuming that was what he was really doing. She wasn’t a particularly huge fan of it, still skeptical of the Shinigami, but even if she wanted to, she doubted there was anything she could do to stop him. Besides, she seemed to be in rough shape, and there wasn’t anything she would be able to do to help. So she merely nodded to confirm when he confirmed her name, and watched otherwise, only taking a brief peek down her shirt to check out the mark that had been placed on her while he was fighting. It hadn’t gone away yet, but it looked alright so she didn’t mind.
As the process went on, it appeared as though he really was healing Alana, so she settled back, sitting firmly on the ground as she watched him closely. He seemed so… Blu shook her head. Whatever thoughts were going through her head, however they got there, were not hard to shake off. She’d never found a man attractive before and wasn’t about to start now. But when Alana jumped on him, Blu frowned slightly, feeling left out. Was she getting jealous? She’d just met the girl, and even more recently learned her name, let alone had any time to get to know her. She took a deep breath and stood up after her own healing came quick and easy. That was one less bruise to worry about.
“My family has always stood by the idea of avoiding destroying souls, even those of Hollows, whenever possible. They always strived to find a way to make peace with the Shinigami and cooperate with them, but their organization seemed to want no part of it, perhaps in part due to the actions of others of our kind.” She took a deep breath, finally letting the handle of her mace dissipate into raw Reishi and disappear into the air. “It makes me happy to meet a Shinigami that shares our ideals, even if I’m the last one left to carry them. If you want help making such weapons, you have more than one willing helper to get it done, though keep in mind that I prefer to get a bit more up close and personal to my opponents than most Quincy.” She grinned playfully.
“But… what was that you said about a war?” Being a rogue Quincy that hadn’t had any major contact with her own kind since her family was wiped out and avoided Shinigami like the plague for fear of meeting one less kind than Mitsuoki, she hadn’t been kept up to date on recent happenings of the spiritually political nature. “Is something going on?”
