((OOC: I forgot to mention this, but Mitsu is not anywhere near as pasty looking as his avatar. His skin color is normal for a british guy. He also has no idea that he's british, and his accent is japanese due to having grown up in Japan.))
Mitsuoki's expression hadn't moved a tick when Alana reached out and hugged him, nor did his face turn any shade when he was kissed due to his emotional disassociation. If anything, the only emotion he would feel was unhappiness towards that fact that he didn't feel anything. Even with that modicum of negative emotion, his face retained the same aloof, cold, but elegant look that all nobles seemed to bear. When Alana apologized for it, Mitsuoki said "It is a small matter." which was the really long way of saying that 'it's cool.' Alana stated afterwards that she was more than willing to help with making the weapon, stating that she wasn't a fan of destroying souls.
Blu had given a brief history of her family, saying that they had always tried to avoid destroying souls, if possible. They were even trying to find ways of peacefully resolving issues, but the shinigami weren't so open minded. She commented that she was happy to find at least one shinigami with half a brain, though, in much nicer words than Mitsuoki's thought process, and even said that he now had two quincies to help him. What Blu had said afterwards was... strange to Mitsuoki. She had no idea about the war between her kind and the other races, which earned a raised eyebrow from the soul reaper.
Mitsuoki had closed his eyes and let out a "Hmmmm..." while trying to think back, since it seemed like there was a lot of details that were missing for these Quincies. He didn't feel like taking them to Tanya's place since their last interaction was somewhat passive-aggressive and he didn't want to push his luck with her. "To be completely honest..." Mitsuoki began, opening his eyes to look the two Quincy girls in theirs, naturally having to switch from one to the other due to not being a badass chameleon-undead-magic-samurai hybrid... "I am not up to date on all of the details. I used to be a member of the Kidoshu, which is a non-combat group. Our tasks were relaying communications, transporting shinigami and supplies through the dongai, and as the name implies- working with kido. My combat abilities far exceed almost all kidoshu members, so I transferred to my current squad. The Thirteen Court Guard Squads operate separately from them, and the matter between shinigami and quincies was their handiwork.... But I do know of a man who may be more helpful."
Mitsuoki had walked over to the busted glass window of the ticket booth and took a map from behind it, along with a pen. "There is a former captain who lives in this town and manages the supplies given to other shinigami. His capabilities as a shinigami far surpass mine, and I have no idea what his bankai even is. This is where to find him, it would be a somewhat poor looking candy shop in the back streets- here." Mitsuoki had circled where they currently were, as well as where to find Urahara's shop. Urahara was known for being one of the more open minded soul reapers, as well as being better tempered. With that, Mitsuoki said "Meet me there. Oh, one more thing..." Mitsuoki had paused and pointed his index finger at both of the girls. "Marking Locations... Blu, Alana." he said, causing a glowing rune to appear on both girls shoulders for a very brief moment. It faded and became invisible, just like Mitsuoki's Bankai's markings had previously. Also like the markings, no detection ability would be able to pick up on them- there was simply no way of knowing they were there. "Those will allow me to teleport directly to either of you should I need to. I shall avoid randomly appearing without notice." he informed them before saying "Activate Gatestone, Hat and Clogs." and bursting into spirit particles.
Mitsuoki would be waiting outside, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. This time, he wasn't wearing the common clothes of a shinigami, but rather, he was wearing a much fancier attire... His clothes were western styled, consisting of dark blue, gold, and a white undershirt (avatar). He would have already told the shop owner about his little issue, so neither girl would have to worry about the two teenagers trying to kill them for trespassing.

"War...?" Her family was a bit disconnected from events involving the Quincy and Shinigami conflict, but while she'd always suspected such an issue to be realized, she hadn't known they'd actually declared open warfare against each other... "Well, that makes sense I guess. It's hard to keep informed of things you aren't exactly interested in. I knew there was conflict but I didn't know that war was actually declared." Alana shuddered to think about how them being at war could disrupt her ability to assist in the capture and purification of Hollows. But if this war was going on and it had been in effect for any length of time then they were probably safe. At least it didn't feel to Alana like the human world was the primary warfront.
Alana looked at the map Mitsuoki pulled from the booth and indicated the location of someone he apparently knew. A former Shinigami captain? Wasn't meeting a captain, even if he wasn't one anymore, a bit sudden for them? But judging by Mitsuoki's explanation he seemed to have confidence they wouldn't be harmed in meeting this person he wanted them to talk to. Alana acknowledged the decided meeting and accepted the marked map from him.
"I'm starting to think I aught to be feeling violated with the way you keep putting these weird marks on me." Alana teased Mitsuoki after he'd explained the new marks he'd placed on Blu and herself.
"Hat and... Clogs? Seems like an odd name for a- Wait he can teleport too!?" She'd turned to Blue to comment after Mitsuoki vanished but whipped around in surprise, confirming that Mitsuoki was gone. "I guess we take the slow way. Let's get topside and I'll call us a ride." Alana turned back to Blu and waved for her to follow.
Alana was glad to be back and up under normal skies. Pulling out her Cellphone, she called for her ride to come. "Hey! I need you to take me somewhere. Where at? I have it marked on a map, I'll show you when you get here. I know I know! I promised I'd be done after the last time but just one more stop okay? Alright, I've got a friend with me right now so meet me at..." Once she was done with the call, Alana flicked the call end button and turned to Blu. "Do you have a number? I can add you in my phone and it'll make contacting each other a lot easier." If Blu gave her a number to add Alana would add it in immediately and test dial it while leading her to where she'd told her ride to meet them.
Once they arrived Alana would tell the driver that they might be a while and to find a place to park while he waited for them to return. Alana would then jump out her side of the car and walk up to Mitsuoki, who apparently had enough time before they'd arrived to change his clothes. "Interesting choice." Alana commented on Mitsuoki's attire while taking in the shop. It was... quaint. "So... if it's an actual shop do they sell things to normal people too?" Alana scouted what she could see. She couldn't recall ever hearing of this place before and wondered if maybe it had something in place to keep people from wandering by or noticing it.
So, he didn’t know much about this war he’d mentioned… but it still concerned her. If there was an all-out war going on between the Shinigami and Quincy, Blu had very little doubt that Un would find a way to get involved, if he wasn’t deeply involved already. She wondered where he was, and what he was doing… but right now she had to gather more information. As the Shinigami continued to speak, mentioning a former captain and suddenly hijacking their day into a field trip to his candy shop, as creepy as that sounded, Blu reluctantly agreed. When the Shinigami put yet more marks on the two Quincy, this time particularly to track and teleport to them, Blu was a little more seriously upset by the turn of events than Alana, but decided to let it go, at least until she had more information.
However, as soon as the Shinigami had disappeared, a wave of relief washed over her as she would, if allowed, jump on Alana, not much unlike she had just done to Mitsuoki, minus the kiss. “WE’RE ALIVE!” Despite Mitsuoki having pretty much taken over the entire encounter, she just wanted to reaffirm that they had, in fact, somehow survived the encounter with the Hollow that had turned out to be way out of their league. That done, she followed Alana up to the surface and waited for their ride… the driver made no attempts at hiding his doubts about the ‘friend’ Alana was bringing along, her attire not easily described as professional… and before long they were at the shop the Shinigami had mentioned.
Blu looked around at the place, tucked away in a neat little corner somewhere. Out of the way enough to not draw attention, but not so much that it was completely ignorable. In front of the shop leaned Mitsuoki, having gone through a costume change at some point. Really? The guy really was laying it on thick, for an emotionally distant Shinigami. But whatever.
“I think I’ve heard of this place, actually,” Blu said, walking up closer to the shop and taking a closer look, “you hear about things like this when you’re an off-the-beaten-track Quincy ‘round here. It fronts as a candy shop, but the guy in charge develops some crazy spiritual gear and gadgets here.” She turned to Alana and Mitsuoki, not to be completely outdone. “Though, I’ve gotta ask… why are we here exactly?”

Blu had answered Alana's question about as well as Mitsuoki would have, and then she asked why they were there. Mitsuoki had said "I suddenly got a sweet tooth." Mitsuoki joked, though, his tone was so devoid of comical intent that he may as well have been telling the truth and actually dragged the girls on for a date to a random candy shop. He opened the sliding door to reveal a red haired, teenaged boy and a black haired, teenage girl sweeping the shop. The boy shouted "Hey, Kisuke, you've got customers for once!" loud enough to be heard through the paper walls. To which Mitsuoki said "Not quite." and the red haired boy said "Oh." in a somewhat insulting manner. It was more directed towards the quincies than Mitsuoki, since he already knew who the shinigami in the room was.
A man with a green and white hat, with shaggy blond hair walked out holding a paper fan in front of his face, saying "So I'm guessing these are your lady friends. Didn't mention they were cute..." in a tone that made him sound like he was slightly sleep deprived. "They are also Quincies." Mitsuoki said, implying that he left that detail out when they had talked about it earlier. "I know." Urahara replied. "Now... what brings a shinigami and two quincies into my humble shop?" he asked, waving the fan a couple times. Mitsuoki had said "We wanted to know more about the war between Shinigami and Quincies." quite bluntly. In a slightly playful tone, Urahara said "Now what would the owner of a candy shop know about that...?" to which Mitsuoki replied "If the owner weren't Urahara Kisuke, founder of the Research and Development Bureau, inventor of the Gigai, and creator of the Hogyoku- nothing. Seeing as you are all of those things, I doubt you are out of the loop." His tone was somewhat impatient, and the unhappy mood had transferred to the shop owner.
"Alright..." he said while closing his fan, revealing a frown on his face. "Have a seat." he said, and Mitsuoki did as told. Once the other two had sat down with them, Urahara would say "I'll assume you all know that shinigami and quincies don't get along, and you already know the basics of why. Well, recently the Quincies mounted an attack on Las Noches and captured one of their strongest- Tia Halibel..." Mitsuoki's eyes went narrow as he looked to Urahara. He had heard of her, that even after being struck by Aizen, she wasn't dead. "After that, the head captain put the soul society on high alert. He anticipated that the Quincies wouldn't stop at just Las Noches... It's the reason why more and more substitute shinigami are showing up. The gotei is taking all the help they can get, within reason." Urahara had looked directly at Blu and Alana when he mentioned 'within reason' to imply that quincies weren't so willingly let in.
"With that happening, the Quincies are also recruiting anyone they can get their hands on, with preferential treatment towards other quincies- even mixed bloods. So this is more of a cold war, with the intent of escalating when one side feels like they're ready." Mitsuoki had immediately been glad he hadn't gone to Tanya's place... If they were recruiting, then she would undoubtedly already be with them. She certainly hates shinigami, and only tolerated Mitsuoki for Shiro's sake. "Hat and clogs, I have another question I would like to ask..." he said, immediately bringing up the one that Alana had asked. "Do you think it is possible to make a reishi bow that purifies hollows? And, do you think that this would end the war?"
Urahara had paused a couple moments and said "It's certainly possible... You'd be needing quite a few materials that'r hard to come by. I would imagine you'd need materials from both sides, and it'd be pretty hard to make even with them. As for ending the war... I doubt it. Not with just you. Even if it's all three of you, it won't be enough. This is about more than just old grudges. Both sides have been taking pot shots at each other over the centuries. At this point, the war is more about vengeance than it is about solving problems. If you wanna stop them, you're gonna need a lot more people of varying races... and don't expect to have your talks of peace welcomed by either side. Most of them want this war."
Mitsuoki had nodded, accepting Urahara's words. He then looked at the other two and said "I believe that if we are to work together, we should all list off what we need and what we can provide. I have a training facility that is very well hidden. This facility also includes a workshop that we may use to construct anything we want, providing the materials are available. I can easily add in a room for both of you, should you require a safe place to hide out for a while." He had intentionally left out what he would need so he could see what the other girls would request, and judge if his needs were equal or lesser than theirs.

Blu and herself must have been thinking the same thing after Mitsuoki had disappeared because she'd found herself in a mutual embrace with the other Quincy, rejoicing at their lucky survival.
"Really? And here I thought being open, friendly, and making tons of random one-off friends would have at least let me catch wind of this place..." Alana gave a little tease to Blu's knowledge of the place, taking another look at the little shop. "I'm kind of in agreement with her... It seems like a pretty bad idea to bring us to the equivalent of a Shinigami outpost if there is actually a war or whatever going on..." Alana was beginning to have doubts about her decision to follow a Shinigami to this place... Had she really made the right choice or had she let her personal interests throw a blindfold over reason?
"That's really not helping..." Alana shot a worried glance at Mitsuoki's all too emotionless response before her eyes shifted to the reveal of a red haired boy and black haired girl beyond the shop's threshold who appeared to be giving the shop a good cleaning. 'Rude' Alana thought though the boy hadn't said more than a single thing in response to Mitsuoki, his little 'Oh' had clearly been intended for her and Blu.
Alana watched as a man with dated fashion sense appeared from somewhere within the back of the store. Alana glared at Mitsuoki at the casual announcement of their origins. Did it honestly matter whether they were Quincy or not? Though she knew the answer to her own mental questions, Alana couldn't help but feel a little insulted by the way they were talking about the two of them. 'At least give him our names first before you break us down into a racial category!' "Hm? Oh! Right! Sorry..." Alana broke out of her fuming distraction when the shop owner instructed them to sit, choosing to take a spot on the mat that was a sizeable distance from either of the two men, but still facing them both. What was the shop owner's name again?
Alana nodded in response to the inquiry about their knowledge of tension between Shinigami and Quincy. "Tia Halibel...?" Alana found herself speaking out of turn though she quickly silenced herself as the shop owner continued. She didn't know any Tia Halibel... or any Aizen... hell she hadn't even realized that Quincy were taking actions against Soul Society at all! Just how out of the loop had she allowed herself to get? Alana straightened up her posture when she caught the Shop owner looking directly at her. Did that mean they weren't open to making exceptions to the 'No Quincy' rule...?
Alana's attention turned to Mitsuoki when he interjected. Her eyes lighted at the former captain's consideration of a possible way regarding her earlier question to Mitsuoki. Not being able to end the war was unfortunate if it wasn't possible, but knowing there was a way at least for her and Blu to fight without risking the loss of souls... It was something to look forward to.
"To be completely honest, I've always wanted to try my craft at making things. I know it seems strange coming from a Quincy when most of my people are satisfied with just destroying souls and all but, I'd honestly feel better about it if I could at least leave something positive behind when it comes time for me to leave this world..." She smiled to Mitsuoki, to Mr Hat and Clogs. She didn't need to convince these people of her passion, she'd allow it to reveal itself through her time and the dedication to her convictions instead. "A place to do the work I'd need to do would be a great start! I'm sure my adoptive parents wouldn't mind letting me convert parts of our house for this but I get the feeling it wouldn't be the best idea right now if there really is a war going on... Especially when I figure out how to make Soul Synthesized Silver." She looked to Mitsuoki. If he was able to provide them with a safe place to work then many of the fears that'd been holding her back from trying things for herself would be solved. "I don't really know what materials would be required or what all I can provide but I'm sure we can figure it out if we're able to work together on this!" Maybe she was overly excited about the possibilities that hadn't been made real just yet, but then helping Shinigami in any way except from within the shadows had never really been an option until now.
As this day grew longer, the Shinigami the two Quincy had met continued to do effectively nothing to shut down her doubts about him. As the sliding doors opened, it became apparent that Mitsuoki was no stranger here, but the glance and brief comment from the teenager inside towards Alana and herself was more than a little rude. As she walked into the place, it didn’t take long for the man that was seemingly the owner to come out. He looked and acted about as eccentric as he’d heard he would, though she’d never taken the liberty to come here herself before. She knew that he was an outcast from Soul Society, but had heard that he still worked with them, and that meant that she couldn’t be sure he would take kindly to Quincy.
“Keep yer eyes to yourself, bud,” Blu said loudly and unenthusiastically when the shop owner commented on how ‘cute’ they were, “I'm not into... y'know... men.” Well, A for effort on the comeback, anyway. She paused for a moment at being labeled simply as a Quincy. “And our names are Alana and Blu, by the way. Me being the latter.” She wasn’t a fan of feeling unwelcome, but she wasn’t not going to make herself known, either. “I’ll pass, thanks,” she added when asked to sit. She didn’t know much about the situation, but if things turned south, she wanted at least a sliver of a chance at being able to mobilize quickly and escape, so she chose a sturdy-looking table or counter towards the outer edge of the room to lean on as opposed to sitting on the floor.
As it turned out, the man Mitsuoki had brought them to meet was more than she’d known him to be… to think he had held such an important position before. What could have made him leave? She wasn’t sure if this made her trust him less or more.
As she listened to Urahara’s story, she became worried. She hadn’t realized that the conflict could get so much worse again… and if the Quincies were mounting such an operation, it could only be the work of the Vandenreich, or otherwise a new order of Quincies acting in their name. She wasn’t sure if the stories her parents had told her and Un were true or not, but if it was them, then they were going to make any attempts at peace more difficult than they already were. On top of that, if there was a ‘holy army’ of Quincies gathering to fight against the Shinigami, then she had no doubt that Un would join them in a heartbeat… assuming a more bold member didn’t find him and kill him first.
Things were getting more complicated, and concerning.
“I don’t think any of us expected making peace to be easy,” Blu interjected at Mitsuoki’s simple question and Urahara’s answer. She wasn’t one to sit by silently and let other people do all the talking, even if she was so obviously outclassed here. “If it was as simple as asking the Shinigami to make things work, or vice versa, then my family would have done it centuries ago. But having more people on either side that want peace can’t hurt. It might be a bit difficult to gain their trust, but it has to start somewhere.”
Though it would be especially difficult when such a large majority of Quincy would have every reason to have a grudge against the Shinigami, and the Shinigami against them, each for their own reasons.
"Do you think it is possible to make a reishi bow that purifies hollows? And, do you think that this would end the war?”
“Or, ya know, a Reishi, like… mace? Or hammer? Ooh, or a flail? Something more up-close-and-personal like?” The thought got Blu excited. With the rankings that Mitsuoki had labeled Urahara with earlier, she was becoming more confident that if anyone could make such a thing, it might just be this guy. This trip was turning out to be not so bad, even if Mitsuoki had small part in making it so. She still wasn’t sure she could trust the guy.
Then came the time for everyone to lay out what they could contribute to the group. Oh joy, this would go… great. Blu patiently waited for Alana to state her part, somewhat hoping she would be equally as underwhelming as she was about to be. Unfortunately, it turned out that Alana WASN’T part of the extreme minority of Quincy who were actively terrible at inventing things and had utterly zero interest in it, which made Blu even more nervous to go next.
“Well, uhm… I’m… not great at making stuff. I’m more of a field operative type, getting the more hands-on, not-crafty work done. But I’ve got a lot of spirit!” She added in extra pep to the last words, hoping it would alleviate the doubts that her lack of general helpfulness probably just placed in… well, all of them.
Then, next, came the part Blu had been expecting perhaps the least… Urahara offered them to use his facilities, and even to prepare rooms for them to stay in. Alana seemed capable, and like she far more likely than not had a place to go home to. However, to Blu, this was a big deal.
“Mmm, a roof over my head? You are making it incredibly hard to be skeptical of you right now.” Suddenly it became apparent that she had not told either of her traveling companions of her housing arrangements… or lack thereof, anyway. “If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, I’d like to take you up on that offer. I’d earn my keep, of course, however I can, for the creation of our weapons and for upkeep for staying here.” It seemed as interesting a place as any to hole up for a while… and if there was anything that was going to ever spark that inner Quincy desire to create stuff, then if a former Shinigami Captain creating things to bridge the gap between the sides of this war wouldn’t, nothing would.
[newclass=.hoveropac]opacity:0.2;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass] [newclass=.hoveropac:hover]opacity:0.95;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass]
Alana had commented that she had always wanted to get into making stuff, and Mitsuoki providing that would be enough for her. She had also mentioned something about adoptive parents, one of many things that Mitsuoki had no idea about. It was common in the rukon districts for random souls to adopt each other to form a family, but, Mitsuoki had no such thing. Well, not that he knew of. When Alana had finished talking, Mitsuoki had said "Very well, then. I would have to rework some of the seals in my facility, but I will let you know once the workshop is complete." After which, he turned his head to Blu to see if she had anything of immediate value. Her weapon style had said a lot about her personality, using a mace that is. Not exactly concerned with finesse or fancy footwork, not much for cutting, just a straight hitter. She had stated in a slightly awkward tone that she wasn't good at making things, something that Mitsuoki had somewhat already expected, even though he hadn't fully acknowledged that expectation. "We would need someone to test any melee variants made. While I could test such a weapon, it would be a Soul Reaper's variant- not a Quincy's. Rest assured, your spirit and field work will not be taken lightly." Mitsuoki said, his tone carrying no signs of sarcasm or pity in it.
It would seem that hat and clogs had also had his own set of rooms for guests, as he had offered to let Blu use one of them. That had answered one of many questions that Mitsuoki had been pondering, regarding where the other soul reapers had been staying when they came during the aizen incident. It was for the best that Blu had taken up Kisuke's offer since it allowed her to stay in the world of the living, and being at Mitsuoki's little hide-away meant passing through the dongai. She had mentioned that she would do her best to help Kisuke out as a means of paying him back for his kindness. Mitsuoki had heard that Quincy had some form of pride that forced them to swear on their people's honor or something along those lines, so it stood to reason that she wouldn't just freeload off of him.
With their arrangements decided, Mitsuoki had said "As a last bit for my end... I was not entirely engrossed in my book earlier. The two of you worked together well enough, though, not exactly as long time comrades would. I can grant you both access to my private training grounds, which would allow you to train away from any prying eyes. The only condition being that you do not bring anyone else with you without my permission beforehand. I will also keep a spare room for you, Blu, in case you ever train too hard to return here." Mitsuoki had stood up, preparing to head out. He had then said "I am going to get to work on those renovations. I look forward to working with you both." before bowing. He said "Activate Gatestone, Memorial" and erupted into a cloud of spirit particles, leaving the two girls with the shopkeeper.

"A Field operative could work out really well actually!" Alana nodded turning her attention to Blu. "I don't think all of us need to do the actual crafting work so it'd be helpful to have someone who can go out and get materials. It would allow the people crafting and experimenting to keep doing so without needing to take unnecessarily long breaks!" While she would probably do some field work of her own to obtain materials, Alana would welcome any extra assistance if it meant they could speed up the goal of making a weapon they could use to purify hollows. Granted that wouldn't be the only thing of interest Alana wanted to make but it would be a goal, and possibly a long term one at that. After all, Alana needed to start with the basics first if she wanted to make something spectacular and starting with the endgame objective first was only bound to fail. Like building a house but forgetting to lay the foundations...
"That won't be necessary, Blu can stay at my place. We have more than a few spare bedrooms she can make use of and I'm sure my parents won't mind." Alana waved her hand at the thought of Blu taking up a room under Hat and Clog's roof. Sure it was a great idea and all but... They were still Quincy and from what she understood this place was like a Hub of activity for Shinigami. Alana didn't hold any grudges against Shinigami herself but there was no telling who might visit this shop and if they were careless they could easily get noticed by the wrong crowd. Mitsuoki and this strange fluffy haired man were one thing, but what if a shinigami who was under wartime orders showed up? That could be seriously bad!
"That would be awesome! I really appreciate it! Honest I do!" Alana bowed to Mitsuoki from her seated position. Really there wasn't anything more amazing than this! She'd wanted an opportunity to practice and now she had a way to do so without gaining the disapproval from her adoptive family or the security personnel that worked there.
"Thank you! That would be greatly appreciated!" Alana bowed to Mitsuoki again at his offer to use his place for their training. Though she decided not to bother correcting him about the longevity of Blu's and hers relationship. Blu was spunky and spur of the moment it seemed, and Alana kind of liked that about her. Maybe through this they could get to know each other better.
"Ah! Wait! I didn't get your... number..." Alana tried to stop Mitsuoki before he gated out but he seemed to have places to go and didn't give her a second glance before disappearing into thin air. "Actually... do Shinigami even have Cellphone numbers?" Alana addressed Mr Hat and Clogs who simply gave her a shrug. But it was enough to let her know Mitsuoki probably didn't have one... How was she supposed to keep in touch with him then? Jeez...
"I appreciate the answers and for filling us in on what's been going on. I know you offered to share your rooms with us but if it's all the same to you, my ride is waiting so I do need to be getting home now." Left with Hat and Clogs, Alana stood and bid him farewell. "Say Blu, do you wanna come over to my place? We have a full bath and spa I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy!" Alana smiled to Blu as she made to leave the man's candy shop, offering the other girl an invitation to her place.
