Shiro had asked Kouta if it was normal for the living to visit the soul society, to which Kouta said "No, child. It's not normal in the slightest. But, we were all humans at one point; so, it's not that big of an event when one shows up here." The village elder watched Shiro as she looked over the picture and nodded, knowing exactly what she was doing while looking it over. He found it somewhat funny how much Mitsuoki was able to see while also being blind to that which was directly in front him; but, that wasn't his place to intervene. Shiro had made the old man freeze in place when she had asked about Haruka, directly to Mitsuoki.
Mitsuoki had paused pouring the tea and looked at the thing she was holding. He couldn't see the image on it, but, he knew what it was regardless. He didn't answer at all, just looked away from Shiro and continued pouring the tea, which caused Kouta to let out a relieved sigh. He was almost certain that Mitsuoki would give Shiro a hands on lesson in flight when she asked such a bold question. If Shiro had pressed the question, the air would begin feeling heavy with anger and Mitsuoki would turn a glare to her that could make even the most hardened of warriors feel unnerved. "That is none of your concern." he would say in a deep, very much ticked off tone that would imply Shiro had stepped on a proverbial land mine.
After Mitsuoki had finished pouring the third cup of tea, his cup, he would take a seat and clear his throat before taking a sip. "So..." Kouta said to try and segway into a different, less sensitive topic. "... How did you meet this human? I cannot imagine you casually walking up to her and asking for help." Mitsuoki turned his gaze to Shiro and asked "Would you like to tell the story?" in a much less angry tone than when she brought up Haruka.
She should have figured as much. This was a place for those who passed on after all. It made sense for everyone living here to be human spirits or at least some form of life that'd previously lived on Earth...
Mitsuoki had paused, observed what she was holding, and instead of answering her question he simply looked away and continued to pour the tea he'd prepared. "I see..." So that's how it was then... Shiro felt foolish for even asking. Of course the girl meant something, meant a lot to him, even if she had passed on... For whatever reasons he held, Mitsuoki obviously didn't want to talk about it... What exactly had she expected anyway? Kouta sighed, seemingly in relief, but it only served to cause an unfamiliar pressure to build up around Shiro's heart as she handed the picture frame back to him. The tea was placed before her, though Shiro made no move to pick it up and drink. It wasn't a hesitation so much as observing a hidden reflection. The aroma of fresh brewed tea filled Shiro's senses but for some reason she couldn't smell anything, even though she knew she should have...
Shiro started slightly. Kouta asked Mitsuoki to explain how he'd met her as Shiro herself lifted her cup to sip its contents. Strange, there didn't seem to be any taste to it... "I'm sorry... maybe another time... I should go..." Shiro responded, looking up and catching Kouta's eyes in hers with an apology. She didn't look over to Mitsuoki even as she set her tea down and got up from her seat. Dismissing herself, Shiro left the living room. Exited the building. She closed the door behind herself and let out a long sigh. With a loud sparking noise Shiro Spark Stepped away from the house, away from Kouta... and Mitsuoki.
Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! What was going on!? Why? Shiro continued to Step further and further away from the house. At first she'd considered heading towards the Seireitei but quickly decided what she really needed right now was to be alone. Instead of the Seireitei, her continued steps took her ever further away from it, towards the outskirts, the forests. Any place that didn't have people. She could feel hot streams stinging her face. Why was she crying? Why did her heart feel so painful right now? Was it because of all the Stepping or... was it something else? What exactly did that girl in the picture mean to her? And why was it so stupidly painful to look Mitsuoki in the eyes and ask him about it? Why had she chickened out and so foolishly run away like that? Either way she couldn't go back now. Not like this. She needed some time alone. Time to cool her head and think about things. Alone.
Shiro didn't stop running until she got nearly half a kilometer into the first forest she came across. Even with as skilled as her movements had become, stepping this much was still very exhausting. Given a look, she could barely see a sliver of what she guessed was the Seireitei beyond the trees barring her vision. Maybe, she couldn't be certain what it was now. Collapsing with her back to tree, Shiro sought to recover her breath. Her heart screamed in more ways than one as it struggled to continue pumping blood through her body. "What the hell am I even doing..." Shiro huffed as quietly as she could through ragged breaths. The palm of her right hand rose to press against her forehead, pushing hair out of its way and bringing Shiro's gaze skyward. The smooth bark of the tree allowed her to sink to a sitting position at its base. "I'm such an idiot... why did I even run...?" The girl's thoughts muddled, thinking about it now she couldn't come up with a good excuse for why she'd dashed off in the middle of everything. Despite that, there would be no changing things now. For some reason, in that moment where she'd popped the question about the girl in the photograph, Mitsuoki's reaction, his chosen lack of response... It'd hit her the wrong way somehow... But why...?
In the forest with her lurked a very real danger, a being who was beyond the ranks of common hollow with a grudge against the very person who Shiro had begun becoming quite fond of, that the young human would be most unfortunate to have come across. Perhaps she would have noticed it hiding its spiritual pressure if she weren't emotional, perhaps she would have been able to at least get another step in to try and escape, perhaps if she had at least one more step in her, she would not have had to escape at all, and would have just shot past it. That was a lot of 'maybe' but none of them had been the reality...
While Shiro was leaning against the tree with the tears on her face, questioning her actions, she would feel an absolutely soul crushing spiritual pressure raining down around her. Suddenly, the trunk of the tree behind Shiro would explode and a large, white claw would come from the bark, grabbing the back of Shiro's neck and holding her in the air. "And so the bait comes to the hunter." a deep, grim voice would say from behind her. "Do not be afraid, human. I will not consume your soul- this time. I simply desire for you to leave a message for a very specific soul reaper. Do not waste your meager brain cells remembering words, my spiritual pressure will be all that he needs for my message to be heard."
After hearing those words, Shiro would find herself being hurled into a tree with enough force to send her through it, as well as the trees in front of it, and several more. Her abnormally resistant body would have no issues with resisting such an attack since it wasn't made to kill her, but she would find herself unconscious afterward, assuming she didn't have anything she could use to prevent such a fate.
With Mitsuoki
Shiro had said that she needed to go, and proceeded to dismiss herself from the room. The soul reaper had made no move to stop her since he had seen her display a teleportation ability before, and he had assumed she would be using it to go back to Las Noches. Kouta let out a sigh at how clueless his grandson was, and that he had just let a girl who was interested in him walk out the front door. The two of them continued drinking tea in silence, since Mitsuoki didn't really want to tell the tale of how he met Shiro, since it also included how he met Akane... who was no longer with him.
Some time later, he had felt a massive spiritual pressure wash over the village that made his eyes turn into dots in their sockets. "No..." he said, remembering that spiritual pressure with absolute certainty. Mitsuoki didn't waste time trying to deny who it was, he immediately stood up and turned to run to the door, swing it open at max speed before flash stepping in the direction that the spiritual pressure came from. He continued stepping, moving until he would come across Shiro's unconscious self and stand nearby, looking around frantically for the hollow but noticing that it was gone entirely. "Damnit." he said, uttering the closest thing to a curse word anyone would never hear. He grit his teeth before getting on his knees and placing his hand on Shiro's neck where five blue marks were. He would then lift her up and say "Relocate to Las Noches." and the two would vanish from sight, moving to the place in the large castle that Mitsuoki had marked.
He had taken Shiro to the first room that he didn't feel spiritual pressure from, which wasn't far away, and laid her down on a bed that had no sheets, leading him to believe it was an unoccupied room; but, he could be wrong. He had pulls up a chair and rested both of his hands on Shiro. One on her stomach, and one on her head, while beginning to form a gentle, warm, silver energy around his hands. He closed his eyes and began channeling his energy into her, doing his best to remember what he had learned from going over the healing scrolls. His knowledge of such things wasn't particularly good, so he had to stay for several hours to get the bruises on Shiro's neck to go away. Afterwards, Mitsuoki had quickly written a note to leave behind...
'Shiro,
It would seem that my past has begun to catch up with me. I cannot be seen with you anymore, it will only serve to put you further into harm's way. I cannot explain the events that have transpired. All I can tell you is that the hollow you encountered was one that I had failed to confirm termination in my early days as a soul reaper. I apologize for endangering you, and hope that you accomplish all that you set your heart on. As for me, it would seem that my destiny has been set. I cannot bear the thought of this hollow going after those I care for most, it would not surprise me if it were responsible for Akane's death. To ensure the safety of those around me, I will do what I must. We are unlikely to cross paths. Do not remember me.

A sudden dreadful and oppressive atmosphere...! Shiro's eyes shot open, realizing the danger she now faced. Stepping was useless now since she'd already used up all her energy running away... Dammit! Thinking she'd be safe within Soul Society from this kind of a threat... how unforgivably careless of her. Before she could dodge, the beast tore through the tree she leaned against. She'd gotten no further than a single step before whatever it was snatched her up from behind, choking her. 'Bait... Her? But why?' Shiro's confusion mounted, at the mysterious Hollow's words. What exactly was it trying to accomplish by attacking her here? Wasn't this the world of Reapers? How could a Hollow like this one have slipped in without being noticed...? Shiro tried to tear at the claws holding her neck but the beast was too much... Far too strong for even her to break free from. Was this really all her strength amounted to? Would she ever be able to face off against opponents like this evenly...?
Through the pain of the Hollow's grip on her neck, Shiro contemplated ways to free herself. She released. But by then the monster had already thrown her. It was a feeling she'd never had before... Her body flew faster than she'd ever expected it could. Straight through a large tree. Strangely it didn't hurt like she'd expected it too. Neither did the ones that followed thereafter... But she was flying too fast to halt her own movement. Too much energy expended for what she could now see had been a stupid mistake. "Dammit..." She uttered right before colliding with a large stone boulder. The force of the blow knocked the wind out of Shiro's lungs, sending her crashing into yet another tree before her unconscious body plummeted to the ground below in a heap.
---------
Shiro's eyes opened to a familiar ceiling... Familiar but with a few distinct differences in its general makeup. It wasn't the forest she'd expected to see. "That spiritual pressure..." She muttered, thinking back on what happened. She'd heard its voice, could tell it'd been a Hollow but... Everything happened so fast she hadn't even had time to get a good look at whatever it was that'd attacked her. "Dammit...!" Shiro slammed her right hand into the bare mattress. She winced as a sharp pain rocked through her body. Most of the pain from the monster's grip on her was gone, but her body still felt sore all over. Was this really all she could amount to? Strong enough to break trees with her body alone and yet she couldn't even prevent herself from being thrown in such a manner by a single opponent? Maybe Theocelese was right... This was the world of spirits... They might be nearly immortal and posses spiritual bodies but she still had a physical one. A mortal form that would remain weak and frail compared to these monsters... All of her training wasn't amounting to much when the enemies she faced just kept being that much stronger. Could she ever truly compete with Mr. Rose? Mitsuoki...?
Shiro rolled over onto her right side. What had happened to Mitsuoki after she lost consciousness? He must have found her or else she wouldn't be in Las Noches right now... She couldn't sense his presence. Couldn't sense anyone's presence right now. "Could he have been...!? Shiro shot up to a seated position on the bed. What if that thing had immediately gone after Mitsuoki? She needed to help him. As he was now she was certain he couldn't handle a monster like that on his own! She reached to grab her sword but realized then she hadn't brought it with her for training. After Mitsuoki's transportation antics she hadn't come back here to get it either. This also wasn't her room so of course the sword wouldn't be there...
It was then, in her look around the room that Shiro noticed an envelope placed on the nightstand next to the bed. The envelope had her name written on it in handwriting she didn't recognize. Picking up the paper she pulled open the sheet of paper inside. Reading it carefully. "What... the hell...?" Shiro reread the note in disbelief. What was this!? "Why would you fight something like this alone...! I could've helped... I know I can... I'm not useless you know..." Shiro muttered, a mixture of anger, fear, and sadness muddled together. Tears forming in her eyes as she read the note for a third time, her mind finally focusing on the last sentence. Her heart wrenched in the same unfamiliar pain as before at the seemingly cold and isolating words written in front of her. "Forget about you...?" Shiro stared at the paper for a moment. Tears streaming down her face, obscuring her vision. "Idiot... I don't think I could ever forget about you now..." She cried, crushing the paper between her hands as she folded up into herself at the side of the bed and wept.
