Ignoring the strange actions of Shiro, Mitsuoki had opted to lead them to a nearby park where he sat on the bench with the fox on his lap, happily sleeping. He was occupying his gigai this time since thirty seven was no longer needed. His reason for using him previously was that he did not want to confront a Quincy and be slowed down by his non spiritual body. If Shiro had asked him why he had taken them there of all places to burn time, Mitsuoki would say "I find children to be relaxing. They are loud, expressive, and energetic- unlike myself. It is good to see them enjoying life."
One of the children would approach Mitsuoki from behind the bench, peeking over the bench at Akane. "Hey, mister... that a fox?" the child asked, to which Mitsuoki had nodded and confirmed that it was. The child had requested permission to pet her, which Mitsuoki allowed. The child was a young girl, which made Mitsuoki expect the fox to have issues with, but she didn't wake up at all while being touched by an unfamiliar hand. After a minute of the child being present, the fox had woken up and looked at the girl before waving her tail. Akane stood up and stretched before approaching the child and pressing her front paws on the girl's body, getting her head closer to smell her. A bark was let out and Akane looked to Mitsuoki. "She wishes to play." he said while looking at the child, who seemed to be all too happy to play with a slightly domesticated, wild animal. While watching them play, Mitsuoki had a less cold expression. He wasn't smiling, but he didn't seem like an icebox either.
After enough time had passed, Mitsuoki had to let the child know they had to leave and Akane had readily ran, leaping from the floor to the bench, to Mitsuoki's leg, to his shoulder where she sat the entire trip back. Upon arriving to the Quincy's home, Mitsuoki swallowed the gikon and ejected his soul, just in case she'd changed her mind on being hospitable. Upon arriving, Mitsuoki would stand a respectable distance from Tanya and say "Quincies use Reishi as the source of their fighting power, and exclusively ranged weapons for battle. They are not 'good' at using Reishi. To give you an example of their skill... In order to convert reishi, alter its properties, and control it in the form of kido- I require an incantation. She requires merely a thought. My kido requires a bit of time to form, her arrows are nearly instantaneously made. I cannot alter the trajectory of my kido after I fire it, many Quincy children can do this while also juggling flaming knives. So, they are not 'good' at using Reishi. They are not even 'great' at using Reishi. They are masters at using it, and have been doing so for centuries to combat the Soul Society. As discussed, you will be given two sides to the story as to why our people do not get along at all. Starting with Tanya's side." Mitsuoki would look to the Quincy to begin the tale.
Shiro followed Mitsuoki to the park. They apparently didn't have a choice since the Quincy ran a business that didn't close until seven. She watched as Mitsuoki sat on a bench, the fox asleep in his lap. "So... why exactly are we waiting here?" When she'd heard they would have a couple of hours to burn she expected something like a bit of time in the town doing things. Maybe even a movie or something since most of those weren't longer than two hours. At the mention of wanting to watch children play Shiro became unexpectedly reminded of the incident earlier at the garage. "I really hope that was just a generalization... I wouldn't want to see you giving any of the kids a pair of fluffy handcuffs..." Shiro had to struggle to keep bizarre imagery from depicting itself in her head. Obviously Mitsuoki might not understand what she meant but if he asked Thirty Seven about it later he might figure it out.
Seeing Akane freely playing with the child was a refreshing change of atmosphere from the earlier confrontations. Even though neither of them had felt particularly overpowering to her, Shiro couldn't help but think that the earlier tension between Mitsuoki and the Quincy had felt very much stifling. It was almost like a dog trying to chase a cat but the cat had refused to back down. It'd been something which would make one wonder when the fighting would actually start.
She'd enjoyed her time at the park a bit more than she'd expected, even playing with the fox herself for a while after the children lost interest in doing so. Before she knew it, Time had passed and Mitsuoki informed her it was about time they head back over to the Quincy's place.
Upon arriving at the Quincy's house, Mitsuoki started talking about how Quincy were Reishi masters, right in front of the one he'd confronted earlier... Though at first she couldn't tell if he wasn't just trying to get a rise out of the Quincy again like she'd felt during the first encounter... He even started by saying they weren't good at using Reishi. "He's gotta be an M..." Shiro thought, watching the Quincy's reactions as Mitsuoki spoke. "Does he like her or something?" This next thought came after the conclusion that Mitsuoki was an M. She looked from Mitsuoki to the Quincy, trying to decide if this could be the case in question. "I mean I guess she'd be perfect for him if he's looking for a bruising..." She observed, the Quincy almost looked as if she wanted to deck him after his tidbit of information was concluded. "I guess that makes sense." Shiro said once Mitsuoki concluded his statements. Based on only the information she had right now? Shiro could only conclude that the problems stemmed from a long running rivalry between Quincy and Shinigami...

The trio had peculiarly impeccable timing. Tanya had no sooner finished closing up the shop and locking the garage doors when they came strolling up her driveway. As the doors locked from the inside, she'd noticed them on the security monitor. She went through the house and opened the front door to let them in. For whatever reason the Shinigami seemed interested in irritating her. Was he trying to gauge how she reacted to his words? At first claiming Quincy were not good at using Reishi. Building up and topping off the statement with the fact that they were masters at controlling it? "I'd watch yourself Shinigami. Under normal circumstances I would not even consider welcoming you into my house." Her glare was intense, though not as much so as when Mitsuoki first started rattling off his little tidbit of info, if it could even be called that at this point.
Once inside, She guided them to the living area where she left them for a moment to retrieve some cups and a pot of the coffee she'd set to brew before closing the shop from the kitchen. Four cups and a full pot of freshly brewed coffee made its way to the living room table along with a sealed package of store bought shortbread biscuits. "There's Coffee or water from the tap if you're thirsty." Tanya offered, pouring a cup of coffee for herself and taking a sip, ensuring the less than invited guests that what she set before them was a genuine offer of hospitality and not something laced with poison. Despite the Shinigami presence... Tanya took a seat near the table. The soft felt chair was a welcome reprieve after the day's work and she would not be made to feel uncomfortable inside her own home even if she didn't approve of her current guests. She would make sure Mitsuoki realized this fact for himself.
Mitsuoki had absolutely no idea what Shiro was on about when she was talking about him possibly giving fluffy handcuffs to children. Such things were absurd to own. The fluffy material would make it easier to escape and considerably more comfortable to wear. The point of handcuffs were to keep people from escaping and become more uncomfortable as you wriggled inside them. That, and if he wanted to give children something to restrain people with, he would demonstrate his SSix Rods Prison of Light for them... which is infinitely more uncomfortable and effective that a pair of metal loops. It can also be entertaining if one were to nonchalantly tip the person over and watch them complain about being on the floor and unable to move to get in a more comfortable position. Of course, he would never tell anyone that he found this thought amusing.
When permitted inside, Tanya had provided them with a reasonably comfortable place to sit as well as the option of coffee or water. Mitsuoki had never once had coffee, so he didn't know what it tasted like. The scent was strong and somewhat alien to him, but that wasn't the reason he didn't drink it. He also wasn't afraid of being poisoned since he could quickly return to the soul society for healing. Were that the case, he would bring Shiro along to prevent her from meeting the same fate. He also didn't take any water, for the same reason as him not taking coffee- he wasn't thirsty. Thirty Seven had taken a seat at the table and Mitsuoki sat next to him, keeping his hands on the table so Tanya would be able to see them and know he wasn't secretly doing anything that might harm her. "Your home is quite nice, Tanya. Considerably more spacious than my room in the barracks." Mitsuoki would say in his usual tone.
The house was quite spacious and while she'd expected to find some peculiarities considering this person was supposed to be a Quincy, the house was surprisingly... normal. Nothing seemed out of place, every location she'd been able to see from the time she entered the threshold was well kept and clean. Shiro'd even glanced after Tanya and into the kitchen when the Quincy had gone to get cups and the coffee. Even the kitchen appeared to be in a proper state of cleanliness.
On the table before them, aside from what Tanya had presented, there was a small covered jar. Leaning over to lift the glossed ceramic lid, Shiro discovered it to be full of small perfectly cut cubes of sugar. Sitting off to the side inside it, lay a slender spoon for scooping out the contents. Good, Shiro didn't like the taste of black coffee. Judging from the fact the Quincy hadn't opened this container before pouring herself some coffee it seemed fair to think she welcomed guests on a regular basis... Shiro's eyes drifted to the Quincy, who's attention actually seemed to be directed towards Mitsuoki. "Seeing as there's sugar, I'll have some coffee then..." Sighing, Shiro picked up the spoon and dipped several cubes into one of the remaining empty cups. Despite the rather comfortable seating, the unexpectedly provided hospitality of the Quincy, and the relatively relaxed posture the Quincy herself seemed to have... the atmosphere around Shiro still felt strangely heavy for some reason.
Pouring the coffee over the sugar inside the cup ensured that the sugar would be properly absorbed into the otherwise unfavorable bitterness of the beverage. With the sugar properly and completely dissolved, Shiro carefully brought the cup over to her lap, steam from the too hot contents rolled up into the girl's senses. It smelled strongly but the blend of coffee and sugar mixed to create a more favorable aroma to Shiro. Bringing the cup to her face she gingerly blew on the hot coffee to cool its surface before partaking of it. The coffee was favorable. Not the best as Shiro would have preferred milk and cream to go along with it but since those options had not been offered she would not impose. She was here to learn something and unfortunately the person in question who would be teaching her was not exactly on good terms with Mitsuoki. Whether or not she could expect better treatment from this Quincy was still yet to be seen... Whatever the case, Shiro wouldn't fail to thank her for the coffee.

Tanya was in no hurry to start. As it was she didn't want anything to do with these people from the start. And now here they all were sitting inside her house waiting for her to tell a story. Tanya sighed, took another sip from her coffee before setting it down on the table next to her chair. Picking up the unopened package of biscuits, Tanya pulled apart the sealing tab and picked out one of the shortbread pieces. With a biscuit in hand, she lifted her coffee again and sat back into her seat once more. "I would hope so. If my house were as cramped as a military's barracks I'd have to be ashamed of myself for such an uncouth feat." Tanya retorted. Her response was cold as she stared towards Mitsuoki, dipping the biscuit into her coffee before biting into it. "I don't think I've ever had anyone intentionally come to me directly and ask me to educate someone on the history of the Quincy before. Not to mention it being someone like you, a Shinigami of the Soul Society no less." Tanya pointed at Mitsuoki with the hand that held the biscuit before dipping it again and taking another bite from it. "If I didn't know any better I'd have to say you seem to be acting out on your own. Are you sure you should be doing this?" Though it was intended as a jab at the Shinigami's integrity as a reaper of Soul Society, Tanya still held fast to her doubts. For all she knew this could be some strange elaborate new method of intelligence operations designed by the Gotei 13 to bring about information on the whereabouts of hidden Quincy... If that were the case it wouldn't be completely unlikely that this Mitsuoki would have already informed of her presence here... The thought worried her to some degree and if it were even remotely possible it meant she'd need to be very careful about how she moved around from now on.
"I suppose I should introduce myself. The name's Tanya, welcome to my home." Tanya's tone was somewhat dry as she spoke, switching over to address the girl and Mitsuoki's obviously piloted gigai.
Tanya had commented that she would have issues with her house being as small and restricted as his barracks. She also commented that she's never thought that someone would come asking for something like what he had requested. She had also never thought that a soul reaper of all beings would be the one to do it. She made a retort to slight his integrity by saying that he was acting out of line, to which Mitsuoki said "Sheep have no use for eyes when all they do is follow the shepherd." implying that he wasn't a sheep, like the rest of the soul reapers. He saw deception in the things he was taught, lies and hatred flooding the entirety of the soul society, and injustice across all races. It would be a crime against his own honor to just fall in line and ignore the things he could see.
Tanya had introduced herself, to which thirty seven said "What's good, Ice Queen. Name's thirty seven, don't ask why I chose it cause I ain't told no one yet." Mitsuoki let out a sigh and said "Thirty seven... I have already told you that you must earn the right to call one by an alternative name." to which the gigai replied "Hey, she ain't point no arrow at me, yet! I'd say I'm closer to being her friend than you are!" Mitsuoki would say "Just because you exchange names, it does not make you comrades. She has not directed her bow at you because you are clearly not a soul reaper." Thirty seven held his finger up as though he were going to say something, but he paused, saying nothing at all. "Okay, fair point." Mitsuoki looked at Tanya and said "I apologize on thirty seven's behalf. There are many things about society that he does not know."
"My name is Shiro Inazuma." Shiro greeted in response to Tanya's own introduction. Thirty Seven seemed comfortable with Tanya, instantly calling her Ice Queen. Was it some sort of Quincy joke? Was that why he called her that Shiro wondered, looking from Thirty Seven to Tanya. Based on the expression the Quincy shot him, she hastily figured that this was not the case. In fact it almost seemed like both Thirty Seven and Mitsuoki were taking pop shots at the older woman... At this point Shiro couldn't tell which was hotter... the coffee steaming insider her cup or the temperament of the room she currently sat in... With the continually heavy and awkward feeling she got, Shiro was really beginning to have doubts about whether all this was really a good idea or not. Small talk might help... "So... I haven't been able to watch the news or listen to the radio lately, has anything interesting happened recently?" Shiro asked, directing her question towards Tanya. She felt silly and uncomfortable asking a stranger questions but with the tensions in the room right now she really felt like she needed to try something, anything to break up the thickness of this atmosphere. Reaching for and selecting a biscuit from the package Tanya'd opened, Shiro decided to try dipping it as well. The cookie was sweet, and coupled with the sugar loaded coffee it wasn't too bad.

"The freedom to choose what we believe and who we follow is also a means with which to empower the vast majority with the capacity to build and design their own cages." Tanya shrugged in response to Mitsuoki's talk of sheep and shepherds. Really though, was there any point for them to keep going back and forth like this? She could care less what morals this Shinigami held to, they weren't hers after all. More than likely this Shinigami felt the same way about her.
Acknowledging Mitsuoki's apology on behalf of Thirty Seven with a nod of her head, Tanya chose to address the soul inside the Gigai. Her words were cold, crisp, and dangerously void of any emotion. "I suggest you choose your words more wisely, Thirty Seven. From what I can sense, you are the weakest one out of all of us gathered here. A single shot from one of my arrows in just the right place could end your life at hardly a moment's notice, and trust me not even Mitsuoki would be able to block all of them to save you. From now on you are to address me as Tanya and nothing else, understand." She wouldn't actually make good on this threat. Her belongings were far too valuable to bother with someone like him, but if it got him to shut up then she'd at least be satisfied for the moment.
"Pleasure to meet you Shiro. It's quite unfortunate we had to meet under such... circumstances." To the group they might find Tanya's voice was surprisingly pleasant when addressing the girl. She had nothing against humans, especially not ones who wanted to learn more about the things they simply didn't understand. Judging by how the girl kept fidgeting Tanya judged that this whole ordeal the girl was currently engaged in had been the Shinigami's decision and not one of her own ideas. Tanya sighed. The Shinigami's uniqueness aside, one thing was for sure. This Mitsuoki character seemed to be just about as pushy as any other Shinigami she'd ever met.
The threat made by Tanya wasn't met without a threat of its own, however, that threat hadn't come from any of the sentient beings in the room. Rather, the underside of thirty seven's clothes could be seen moving just before the bulge moved from the inside breast pocket of his jacket to give way to a small red fox poking its head out and immediately shooting a glare at Tanya while growling as loudly as it possibly could. Mitsuoki couldn't help but let out a small, half chuckle and actually give a smile at the sight that lasted all of half of a second before returning to his standardly cold glare. He reached over and grabbed the still growling pup by the back of her neck and lifted up. Akane immediately stopped growling and looked around in confusion as she was lifted straight up and moved towards Mitsuoki, the shinigami version, where he let himself relax more in the chair. He slid down a bit to put his chest at an angle while also resting one of his legs on top the other. The fox was set down on his chest and he began gently rubbing her head with the tip of one of his fingers. "Yes, Akane... You are a very terrifying creature. I am sure you will one day lay waste to all who threaten your comrades." he said in a sweet tone that implied he didn't mean a single word of it. His smile was gone and replaced by his standard cold expression, but his actions implied a degree of happiness that his face did not.
Thirty seven had cleared his throat and said "That's Akane... she doesn't like women for some reason. Shiro over here seems to be the only exception to that." Though, in his mind he was wondering where the hell this caring side of his soul reaper companion had come from. He was always kind to the fox but highly distant from everyone else.
Tanya's return on her own greeting and introduction, a strangely pleasant greeting by comparison to how the woman seemed to regard the others, namely Mitsuoki. Though despite the pleasantries in her voice, Tanya did not seem inclined to answer to to the girl's small talk... "Let it be what it is." Shiro thought, slightly disappointed.
The fox Mitsuoki brought along for the ride hadn't seemed to appreciate Tanya's threat against Thirty Seven. Shiro paused in the middle of eating her biscuit to contemplate whether the Quincy's threat had been genuine or not. The verdict? Shiro couldn't tell... Mitsuoki and this Tanya both seemed to have the ability to mask their emotions, hiding the subtle indications from their faces. Shiro remained quiet. It didn't feel right to her to be the one to interject into any of what was currently happening. Instead she procured another biscuit, dunking it before taking the moistened cookie into her mouth. Now that Shiro thought about it... Mitsuoki hadn't exactly asked for permission to bring Akane into the Quincy's house. Even with Thirty Seven explaining away the fox cub's behavior she couldn't tell if the Quincy truly or honestly liked or disliked the fact that there was now an animal here. Then again Akane was a small animal and it didn't look like Mitsuoki had brought any sort of leash with him so even if Tanya asked him to put her outside there was no feasible way to do so...

A fox? Tanya raised an eyebrow at the peculiar sight. The little beast barked at her, seemingly in response to Tanya's own threat against Thirty Seven. Quite the strange reaction for such a creature, and it even appeared to be rather a young thing. She hadn't fancied Shinigami for being pet owners. "Well whatever" Tanya thought, taking another drink of her coffee, though she kept her eyes on the little monster. Despite her threatening statement, this Thirty Seven character still saw fit to personally explain to her the actions of the fox, even going so far as to explain that the thing had a name it went by. Seriously, the absurdity of this Shinigami seemed to know no bounds. Naming an animal and keeping it as a pet? From what Tanya could sense, it wasn't even a spiritual being, nor did it seem like something one who served the Soul Society would normally tote around as a companion.
Tanya leaned back in her own chair, setting the coffee cup down to rest in her lap. Judging by the way the girl seemed to be racked with uncertainty, it didn't seem fair to the Human child for her to try and delay what was evidently inevitable.
"So from what I am to understand you are spiritually aware, know nothing or next to nothing about Quincy, and wish to know our history. Is that correct?" Tanya spoke directly to the Human. Though Mitsuoki may put in his own words for the girl's sake, Tanya would ignore them, vying for a response from Shiro instead. She wouldn't continue this farce any longer than she needed to if the girl herself said she had no interest in knowing. Barring the obvious factors of Shinigami involvement, Tanya would see no reason to refuse an ignorant Human the knowledge she so desired.
The delays were over. The uncomfortable feeling of intruding where she didn't feel particularly welcomed could be ended with this. Even if Mitsuoki hadn't brought her here she could have possibly sought out a Quincy on her own if she'd known the information would be readily available and freely exchanged. Shiro didn't look to Mitsuoki first. She didn't want Tanya to think this had been entirely his idea. In truth she couldn't argue with the fact that it was mostly, but if she could assure this Quincy of her sincere interests then perhaps at least some of the tensions in the air could be thinned out or eliminated altogether.
Shiro set her cup down on the table, before respectfully bowing her head to Tanya. "If you would be so kind. I would like to know about your people and their history. I believe it would further help me to understand this world of spiritual beings which I've only recently become familiar with." Shiro lifted her head, looking to Tanya with a small smile. At the very least she didn't want to be enemies with anyone if she could help it. It was bad enough that most hollows seemed to have it out for her or any other human she knew. Though that seemed to be a personality trait of the creatures in question...

As she saw no hesitation nor indication of the girl's reliance towards Mitsuoki's presence, Tanya decided she must indeed want to know for herself what the Quincy were about. "Very well then. I shall tell you the history of my people." Returning herself to a properly upright position, Tanya took one final drink of her coffee and placed the now empty cup onto the table before her.
"In the beginning, more than one thousand years ago now, The Quincy were brought into existence by the power of one we all know as Yhwach. All Quincy from then and up until this very moment, are said to have the blood of Yhwach flowing through their veins. It is through his power the Quincy originally became known throughout the world as specialized hunters. Being especially adept at using Reishi techniques, Quincy used this power bestowed upon them to swiftly destroy any and all Hollows seeking to lay their malicious hands on the world. Whether by fault or design, Hollows are creatures that have always and always will remain a constant threat to the living and Quincy alike.
At one point, Quincy were numerous, possibly even dwarfing the population of the Shinigami more than two to one. Over time it became apparent to my ancestors that despite the efforts of Soul Society, it was not enough to curb the Hollow threatening every corner of the globe. Their numbers were insufficient, the length of their response times to immediate threats against the living lingered upon the incredulous. It was for this reason the Quincy deemed it necessary to step up to the cause and be the ones to take first action, safeguarding the lives of human and Quincy alike who remained forever threatened in the Shinigami's stead. Soul Society saw fit to reprimand the Quincy for their actions, for the act of safeguarding the lives they hadn't yet lost, unlike the already dead souls of the Shinigami. Deliberations took place between the Quincy and Soul Society on what to do about the growing problems. My ancestors saw the threat to the world and its people. They knew the lacking efforts of the Reapers could not be enough to justify leaving every effort to them. But the Shinigami of Soul Society only cared for the balance of souls. These deliberations only proved to strengthen the continuing threat of Hollow attacks upon the living world. Facing the undeniable fact that Soul Society's choice to remain negligent would not abate and would only result in the death of ever more Quincy and humans to the maw of Hollows it was decided that Quincy efforts to quell the destructive tendencies of these beasts be redoubled. You see, Soul Society expected the Quincy to fall off from the duty of eliminating Hollows from our world. Ordering the Quincy to stop their efforts. But this act alone was no different than asking us to commit suicide while they would sit back and continue to allow chaos to reign in among the living.
The continued activities of Quincy saved many lives from the Hollow menace throughout the centuries but just over two hundred years ago Soul Society made a heinous and sinister decision. By way of their order Soul Society decreed that all Quincies were a threat to their fragile balance and that anyone even remotely possessed of Yhwach's bloodline be executed regardless of their position or their involvement in the active suppression of Hollows. Tanya paused, taking a moment to maintain and restore her composure before continuing. Pulling open a drawer underneath the table, Tanya procured a small shaped box. Placing it on the table where Shiro could see it, though she did not open it. "Soldiers, men, women, even children who hadn't so much as seen a hollow before in their lives were spared no pardon from this Decree... In what I can only attest to be a truly gruesome act of selfishly pressed ideals, Soul Society issued out their soldiers in swiftly and efficiently eliminating all things Quincy."
Tanya moved to open the box she'd placed on the table. Inside of it sat a small ornate looking silver cross that appeared to be well aged with time. "This cross used to belong to my mother. Unlike my father who fought for a cause and died fighting for what he believed in, she was a pacifist who wanted very much to see peace come between Quincy and Shinigami. If it had not for my mother's sacrifice, I would not have survived the murders..." Tanya picked up and poured herself another cup full of coffee. She'd never bothered to explain herself to anyone and recalling these memories, the night of her parent's murders, was still a very painful thing to her even two hundred years later... "Quincy and Shinigami have been enemies ever since."
While Mitsuoki was looking at and petting the fox, he had been listening to the story with a great deal of interest, even engraving the very tale into his mind. When it was mentioned that the Soul Society had made a heinous decision, Mitsuoki had nodded in agreement. The tale was fairly short, but it did confirm Mitsuoki's hypothesis that there were vast differences in the tales. "Thank you, Tanya. It seems that I was correct in assuming there were missing details when I was first taught of your people. At the same time, there appears to be some details missing from yours." Mitsuoki had straightened himself and gently set Akane on his lap.
"First, I am going to state that this entire war is foolish from start to present. The soul society has opted to adorn some 'mantle of responsibility' that no one had asked it to take up. They are dogmatic, proud and zealous, and it has blinded them. The Quincy's rage is justified. Enough of their blood has been spilled that I refuse to increase their death toll. Now, I shall explain the balance that was being disturbed."
"The weapons that the Quincy use are made entirely of raw reishi. Reishi, in this form, has no purification power. It's the reason why their arrows can form and be fired so quickly. When a hollow is killed by kido or a zanpakuto, the spirit energy within its body is cleansed and converted to a form that can be transported to whichever of the three worlds requires it the most. The souls that it consumed are then transported to the soul society to await a time when they either become soul reapers themselves, or, are placed back into the cycle of life."
"As for why the Soul Society had tried to get the Quincy to stop. The shinigami regulate the souls between the Soul Society and the world of the living. Which, in return, maintains a balance between both worlds. If this balance were disturbed, it would result in the destruction of all three worlds- Yours, Mine, and Hueco Mundo. All souls and hollows are subject to the shinigami's regulation of keeping the balance- though, I know not what divine being ordained this or why they neglected to give us adequate numbers to perform such a task. When a Quincy kills a hollow, they completely extinguish it. This means that the souls within that hollow, and the hollow itself, are not returned to the Soul Society. It is trapped in the World of the Living. This leads to your world being overpopulated with souls. This would cause the Soul Society, my world, to be attracted to yours out of a desire to obtain balance, which mixes the living with the dead. The end result of this mixing would be absolute extinction. With no souls to feed on, even the hollows would eventually die out."
"The Quincy had no intentions of stopping and letting the soul society handle things. The soul society had grown impatient and furious with the Quincy for not seeing their reason as truth. Under the order of Head Captain, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, a complete and total genocide was put under way. As Tanya said, every man, woman, child, soldier, civilian- anyone who was able to call themselves a Quincy was ordered to be killed. And, the foolishness had not stopped at just that. What Tanya had failed to mention was the atrocities performed by the twelfth squad, for which I will never forgive."
"Kurotsuchi, Mayuri is an absolutely vile and despicable 'thing' with no conscience or appreciation for life. His own subordinates are little more than fodder for his experimentation. By his order, other members of the thirteen court guard squads were bribed to shirk their duties and avoid killing hollows that were near Quincies." In Mitsuoki's eyes would be an absolutely disgusted look, one that perfectly matched how much he claimed to despise the man in question. "Any Quincy that was killed by a hollow had their corpses turned in to him. Any Quincy who died of natural causes had their souls AND body turned in. There were even times when he would order live Quincies to be stolen away, uprooted from their lives for his precious experiments." Thirty Seven had reached across and rested his hand on Mitsuoki's shoulder, snapping him out of his own anger. Looking at his hand, it seemed as though he were gripping the chair a bit too tight since his nails had begun digging into the fabric. "It is the reason why I did not join any of the thirteen squads."
Mitsuoki cleared his throat. "I do not support genocide. We had the technology back then to help the Quincy develop bows that would purify souls and solve the issue. They did not need to die..." Mitsuoki pointed to Tanya's Mother's cross "...She did not need to die." He took a breath before continuing. "There are a few other details to know of the Quincy. Unlike Soul Reapers, the Quincy cannot, in any capacity, transition into hollows. When a Quincy dies as a result of a hollow attack, their soul is completely destroyed. When they die of any other method, their only hope is being sent to the soul society by means of a Soul Burial. The way that the Quincies escaped total annihilation was going to a very specific area of the Soul Society where Soul Reapers were least concentrated. They were able to kill off any of the patrols there and claim it for their own. By this point, it's practically its own dimension. There is another detail that I think it best that you ask your 'associate' about, Shiro." If Tanya had asked Mitsuoki why he served the soul society, he would look her dead in the eye and say "Because I am a fool who wishes to change their ways."
The story ended, Mitsuoki added his part. Shiro was left not knowing what to say at first. Though she did think it odd that they both seemed to agree on point with the fact that this Soul Society had committed atrocious acts. By the standards of law that humans enacted, she could very well claim that Soul Society had been in the wrong for what it'd done. Killing innocent people, Stealing the corpses, souls, and even living in order to experiment on them? Such a thing would be deemed inhuman and outright illegal by modern Human standards... But even so, if what Mitsuoki said held true about the Quincy, then they were equally at fault for trying to solve a problem they had no true or effective means with which to solve.
"I see, so that is how it is..." Shiro said, sitting back. She'd been sitting on the edge of her chair as she listened to them speak and only now realized it herself. "Both sides are wrong." Shiro cleared her throat. She didn't mean to offend but the look Tanya shot her suggested being careful with her next choice of words. "I mean, if you look at it the way I'm seeing it, both sides can be said to have committed some form of genocide right? Sure the Shinigami killed the Quincy and probably focused on that more than they should have, but the Quincy killed the Hollows without discretion right? And if Hollows need to eat souls regularly to survive then wouldn't the destruction of the hollow itself also permanently destroy all of the souls it had consumed? Isn't that the same as killing innocent lives before they could start over in a new life?" This had been very informative. In the end everything came down to the individual's ability to discern right from wrong and oppose their respective leaderships. In that case Shiro was pretty sure their failure to do that could ultimately be what had caused this whole feud in the first place.

Tanya had shot the girl a warning glance, suggesting she be careful if she planned to intervene with any of her own self involved opinions. Surprisingly though, the girl seemed to have a sound and irrefutable argument. She hadn't taken either side and actually pulled herself out of the equation in order to see things as objectively as she could. "That is an interesting analogy." She had to give the girl credit. There was nothing she could realistically argue with in the words the girl spoke.
Even more surprising to Tanya was the sheer level of agreement this Mitsuoki seemed to have on the points of atrocity in question. Most Shinigami would refute any argument opposing their views and debase any reasonable facts with baseless accusations to cover up their own ignorance. A sip of coffee and Tanya set down her coffee cup. She'd be lying if she'd said she wasn't at least intrigued by this girl's intuition... and even the Shinigami's own personalized views on the matter. "Reishi, is indeed what I use. It's fast, effective, and just as deadly as Reiryoku." Tanya leaned forward, feet planted firmly on the floor as she held up her left hand, palm facing upwards as she formed an arrow. She didn't manifest her bow, it wasn't necessary for this demonstration. "It takes a master of Reiryoku to even come close to the rate at which the Quincy can manifest these. And even then the most advanced Quincy have been known to be able to manifest thousands of Reishi arrows at a time to slay their enemies with. Tanya let the energy gathered into the arrow dwindle and fade away and disperse. If she'd gotten a rise out of Mitsuoki for the display she would only smile and say. "I find it strange that a Shinigami with your opinions would willingly serve the Soul Society." It was strange to her as well. Tanya sat back again, sipping her coffee while she contemplated her own feelings. For a while now she hadn't felt like kicking these guests out the moment her story was finished...
Mitsuoki hadn't moved at all when the arrow was formed, and had no reaction to the information given about it. Without a bow, the arrow was completely useless. She was also correct with the usage of Reiryoku being slower than the best Quincy's fire rate. Reiryoku required a few moments to channel the energy from one's energy reserves to wherever they were launching their attack from. Tanya had made a quick and very minor jab at Mitsuoki, stating she found it odd that he served the soul society. "The Soul Society is a place where souls may be safe from becoming hollows. The ones who fall under the command of Yamamoto are members of the Gotei- the ones who you are at war with. I am under the command of Hirashi, the leader of the Kidoshu." A slightly colder than normal look was sent to Tanya. "There is a vast difference between the two organizations, despite the uniform."
Mitsuoki had readjusted his look and began explaining. "The Kidoshu work exclusively with kido. We do not fight hollows, we do not fight quincy, we do not heal members of the Gotei and we do not take orders from the head captain. We allow for transportation between worlds, maintenance of that transport system, advancement of existing kido, and maintenance of certain enchantments throughout the seireitei. In other words, I am in a position where everyone I am surrounded by is innocent of taking lives. More importantly, it means that I do not serve under the command of those whom I morally disagree with."
Thirty seven had began talking, saying "I thought you were there because Har-" Mitsuoki's hand quickly covered his mouth. "Do not say that name." his expression had quickly gone from cold to a few degrees below furious. A single individual's name that brought out the rage inside Mitsuoki. "The original reason, yes. The reason I stayed, no." he removed his hand from the gigai's mouth. "Sorry man, I forgot that you get a bit touchy when-" "Do not apologize. It is a small matter, just attempt to remember it in the future." Mitsuoki had picked up Akane and stood up before walking to the door. He looked to Tanya and said "Thank you for your hospitality, Tanya. You were most informative and taught a lesson to more than just Shiro. Perhaps we may meet again under similar circumstances." he bowed and walked out the door. Whether Shiro came with him or stayed to talk with Tanya would be up to her.

"Is any place ever truly safe from hollows?" Tanya shrugged. Hollows visited the Human world often, but at one point in their lives they'd been human so if they had some way of returning to their origins or if they'd never left the human world then of course they'd have access to it and be able to rampage there. If one could bring a Hollow into soul society without it being purified, what then? Did Shinigami think just because Hollows had no way in that they couldn't exist there in some way?
"Even if you have a different representative, who's to say their orders don't come from the same leader?" Tanya remarked. From her experiences even if two different entities governed themselves, one could still have such a thing but still continue answering to the same leader. If that were the case in question then what difference did it make how the orders were issued? The lambs would still follow.
"Just make sure I never see you on the battlefield or I'll have no choice but to kill you." Tanya nodded, voicing her little retort as the trio left. She still hated the guy for being a Shinigami, but his views were definitely different from his peers. "Each person has their own views and reasons... but it doesn't necessarily make one person right and the other wrong." Tanya thought. She then lowered the lid of the box containing her mother's Quincy cross and lifted it off the table. Closing her eyes she leaned forward with her elbows on her legs. Tanya held up the box and gently rested her forehead on its closed lid. "I have my own reasons for fighting, whether it's the right reason or the wrong one doesn't matter to me at this point." She muttered in a soft tone before placing the box back into the drawer she'd procured it from.
"Well that was an... interesting experience." Shiro stretched her arms out over her head once they were outside. She felt like she'd learned quite a bit more about Quincy and had even obtained some information about Soul Society itself that she hadn't known before. "So... what should we do now?" Shiro asked, looking to Mitsuoki. Since they'd arrived, the story time and other antics hadn't honestly taken that long. Only about fifteen minutes had passed since entering the Quincy's house. "Eating again is out I suppose. It's only been a couple hours since we last ate... What else is there to do... I already have enough clothes from last time..." Shiro was an uplifting craze in light of the somewhat depressing atmosphere of their scheduled meeting. It made her want to do something a bit more fun for a change to help raise her spirits back up a bit. Shiro stopped in front of Mitsuoki with an idea. "I know! What about you? Is there anything you've wanted to do around here that you haven't had the chance or opportunity to do yet? Like maybe... go to the movies?" Shiro asked the Shinigami, while simultaneously suggesting options. Either way she didn't want their parting today to be one of half-hearted depression. It would make her think too much on her own situation and she didn't want today's main highlight to be the semi-depressing Quincy meeting.
