Gotei 13 Canon Positions

This Page contains the roster of official positions within the Gotei 13, including the top five seats of each division and leadership of the Kidoshu and Onmitsukido. 

Positions listed as [OPEN] are available for OC characters to claim and occupy. 

Once the seat is filled the captain controls who holds the four seats directly below them, this includes replacing canon lieutenants as they see fit.

Captain Requirements:
- Minimum rank of HL-A, with Bankai unlocked.
- Active in at least 3 Gotei related threads in the month prior to sign-up.
- 1 month activity trial after being approved for captain-ship.

Divisions with captain seats occupied by non-claimed Canons are instead controlled by the individual holding the lieutenant seat. All lieutenant seat are open unless a claimed, in-use canon lieutenant currently holds the seat.

Lieutenant Requirements:
- Minimum rank of HL.
- Active in at least 3 Gotei related threads in the month prior to sign-up.
- 1 month activity trial after being approved for lieutenant.

It should go somewhat without saying, but canon positions are not just titles to wave over the heads of others. Taking one implies a certain amount of interest in using it for RP purposes: I.E. threading with members of your division and in threads relevant to your position.

It also implies a certain amount of activity. If you, for example, take a long, unexplained hiatus or lose interest in RPing the given character, others may make a bid for your position and replace you. 

In cases where the division you head never had a clearly defined purpose in the canon (4th division will always be medics regardless of captain etc...), you will be given the freedom to revamp it as you see fit.

Along with deciding your division's purpose, the captain (or lieutenant in above mentioned cases) may submit for approval, a single special perk to accompany the division's duties. These are assessed by the mods for approval and this special perk is then available to all current members of the division.

The 4th, 11th, and 12th divisions, along with the kidoshu and onmitsukido have pre-assigned perks to go along with their canon purposes.

Description: The 4th Division is the medical/supply division. They are responsible for both treating the injured and doing most of the manual labor, such as cleaning the Seireitei.   

Division Perk: Clean Compounds

As the old adage goes: What heals can also hurt when too much is given. It takes experience and the right tools to make cleaner medical compounds, and that's one thing thing at which the 4th division excels. Medicines created by 4th division shinigami have one additional toxicity dose.

Description:The Eleventh Division is a direct-combat Division with a specialization in swords-only combat, forgoing the other Shinigami arts and thereby being one of the most specialized divisions in the Gotei 13. As such, it is common practice for members to be carrying their Zanpakutō at all times. The division's doctrine of dominating in battle is what appeals to its members; they believe that fighting is what makes life worth living. This is what separates the 11th Division from the others and makes them the strongest division. Everyone in the 11th Division are highly skilled in fighting. They believe if they are going to die anyway, they have to go down fighting gloriously.

Division Perk: Honorable Combat
The eleventh division believes power comes from physical strength and martial skill, and their devotion to these principals awards certain benefits. So long as they refrain from using kidou and reiryoku techniques, they gain one less cooldown post for weapon skill techniques.

Description: The 12th Division has been directly linked to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute over 100 years ago by former Captain Kisuke Urahara. As such technological and scientific research has become the full measure of what the division involves itself in primarily. Members are tasked with research and collection of data and samples. 

Division Perk: Research and Development Facilities

With high-tech facilities comes an easier time manufacturing items. 12th division members do not need to collect Uncommon and Advanced level materials in order to make items of those tiers.

Description: The Kidō Corps is a group of specialists presiding over spiritual law. It is one of the organizations within Soul Society that is allowed the use of force along with the Gotei 13 and Onmitsukidō, and is also a special organization comprised of experienced Kidō users.

Description: The Onmitsukidō is one of the three forces under the direct supervision of the Central 46. If the Gotei 13 operate openly, the Onmitsukidō patrols and conducts surveillance in enemy territory and carries out top-secret operations, such as assassinations and the execution of Shinigami who have broken the law. If the Gotei 13 are considered an exterior guard, then the Onmitsukidō is an interior, covert guard.
