Stonewall Botanical Gardens, Naruki City. Time: 20H45 Human Activity: Tame Non-Human Activity: Minimal
It was a quiet and otherwise peaceful evening in the gardens, the last few remaining humans beginning to trickle away from the lush scenery to make their way home. The strict security of Naruki, coupled with the various factions meant spiritual activity was constantly kept to a minimum. As such Kum0 had found his journey to this place relatively uneventful. . . well unless one counted getting kicked out of the hotel they were staying in for forgetting their wallet in the damn desert as uneventful.
Clad in a light black tunic and beige pants tucked into knee length boots, Kum0 was grateful for the protection his poncho against the soft chill of the night air, finding an isolated bench to sit on the sound of something hitting the ground caught the mod souls attention, his eyes angling downwards to see what looked like a joint in between his legs. An awkward smile forming as he leaned down and picked it up.
The second, more obvious reason, for his visit. To find Mathilde, he'd remembered her quite fondly, the way she looked after him during his little drug induced stupor, but that had been replaced with a mysterious curiosity when she'd apparently revealed his location to Mechan, another mod soul like him, who'd proceeded to track him down. Having only just returned from his little trip Kum0 had barely settled in before his little debacle. Having notified The Facility, they would go about making the necessary arrangement, which meant he now had the time to go looking for her.
This was where he'd last met her, scanning the immediate area to make sure he was alone Kum0 returned his gaze to the joint with a wry smile.
Might as well, no sense in wasting a good joint, lifting it to his lips which glowed red momentarily before he spun it to the opposite end and took a long drag, blowing the smoke out in 3 perfect rings. A comforting haze touched his mind, yet not as debilitating as when he had first smoked; his body having attuned itself to handle the drug more comfortably, as the mod soul found himself easing into the bench from which he sat.
Taking in another gentle drag, Kum0 once again scanned his environment for any signs of life. Perhaps, if he were lucky, she'd be there once again for him to rest his head on her lap again.

A couple was sat on a bench, an elder man and a younger woman. Yet with telltale platinum hair and a black hairband. If investigated more closely, the hairband would extend to a blindfold. And the elder man that was sat on a bench would be slightly see through. And behind the hands that rested on a wooden cane, hung a broken chain. And the two sat there, in silence, listening to the birds whistle and end their bustling day. And watching the slowly setting sun. No words were exchanged. Merely Mathilde sitting there with a plus soul that wished to see it's last sunset in this world.
She had a lengthy conversation with him. And the man had decided he had a beautiful death. In his bed, with all of his family surrounding him. His wife, his children and grandchildren. Hell, even one of their little cubs that was born just months ago was present. Such a beautiful last sight for sore, old eyes. But after the cold embrace of death, the man wished for one more thing. Visit the gardens. And watch the sunset one last time.
And it was the blindfolded mod soul whom he ran into. And the one that escorted him and accompanied him to his spot in the park. And waited with him. "Thank you, lady," he stated as his spectral form slowly started to dissolve. Her head turned in his direction. And the man was led to wonder, her peculiar black clothing. The gloves. The raven's feathers that decorated it. Was she the reaper? The shepherd of souls? If that was the case, why didn't he die sooner? She was quite the looker.
She shook her head, the same platinum hair slowly swaying with the movement. "Don't thank me," she answered with a gentle smile. "Pass on to your new life." It took nothing more than a second before the man was completely dissolved. A spirit that had passed from it's free will.
With that taken care off, Mathilde just looked forward again. A soft exhale as she got to her feet again after several silent minutes to gather her bearings. And so, she turned on her feet, slowly moving to leave the park, the telltale clicking of high heeled boots resounding on the cobblestone path. Small, golden circles forming beneath each footstep.

The world swam in a sea of blacks, blues and whites. Fading from one color to the next and back again as he allowed it to. He saw many things, the thoughts of the owls as they flew by, only beginning to rise from their own slumber, the frightened emotions of the rats and mice they hunted as they scurried about in the grass, the very moon itself seemed to grin cheekily at him and Kum0 couldn't help but shoot a cheeky grin back at the faraway disc in the sky.
Yo Pothead', she's here yanno, it seemed to beam.
Me? Kum0 snorted, holding back a fit of laughter, I'm a he moon man
Idiot, the moon seemed to form into the face of a man, its large, visible craters aligning to form soulless eyes that stared back at Kum0 almost hauntingly, who else would I be talking about?, get that damn pot out of your system and look
Silly moon man, the mod soul said almost aloud, I'm the only one here fufufufu, well aside from yo--
A familiar glimmer of platinum crossed his vision, at first the mod soul assumed it to be an owl flying in the night but the speed at which it moved at was far too deliberate to match that of an owl in flight, the echos of clacking heels beginning to reach his ears caused the mod soul to turn his attention to it. Almost instinctively his body seemed to focus once more, the euphoric sensation brought down to but a gentle tingle in his mind.
The platinum hair. . . .the hairband that extended over her eyes, her black garb and feathers were unmistakable as she ghosted by on the path leading out of the park. A soft hiss blew out from Kum0's body, blowing away the smell of the joint he'd just smoked as he got up. His body protesting such a sudden movement, but as his systems initiated a self clean that feeling was replaced with a familiar firmness as he regained 'control' of himself.
Blinking away the obvious redness in his eyes the mod soul strode after her, she seemed oblivious to him now, ironic since it was she who had found him last time they met. Yet, here she was again, almost like clockwork, it seemed they both had a thing for gardens in the nighttime, the thought making Kum0 smile rather crudely. Increasing the intensity of his walk it wouldn't be long before he caught up to her.
You could at least slow down a little, he said somewhat groggily finally within earshot. It makes following you a little easier.

Hands folded behind her back, clasped together as she gently strolled out of the park, head craning around seemingly to take in the surrounding sights, which was in and of itself an odd and paradoxal thing, since she technically didn't see. But such wasn't an issue. Even the sounds of life fading to their homes to respite and discuss the past day, to rest and recuperate. Together, with a partner or family. A sibling perhaps. It brought a gentle smile to her lips. One that froze as she heard a voice behind her and she stopped in her tracks, frowning. Was she caught off guard?
She turned on her feet, tilting her head slightly. She had 'seen' this individual before, sensed him as well. But the pigment and shade were different. More intense. "I.. Following me?" She questioned with a faint smile. An emotion occurred. One she hadn't felt before. This character was powerful. Moreso than her.
Her metaphorical stomach turned into a knot, her knees became weak and she felt sweat dampening the blindfold. Odd, such reactions, such instinct. Was it fear? Possibly, another emotioned to note and add to already a wide array of such. Things she felt for the first time in ever. Fear was one of them.
"Aren't you.. The mod soul from.. Way back?" She asked, her brow furrowing as she questioned. The spectrum of colours, the resonance of his being, it was clear now. She knew this man. And it relaxed her ever so slightly. "K-.. Kumo?" Fear turned to elation at the prospect of a friendly individual. A fellow mod soul. And a soft giggle came from her, expressing the sudden twist in emotions. Maybe even too joyful to see him. "How.. You've grown.. Strong."

Just observing her reaction was a fascination unto itself, although that could still have been the pot talking, each contortion of her face so genuine and flowed so freely it was almost mesmerizing to watch. Were he simply catching up he would have allowed himself to instantly relax around her, unlike him she had not changed and that in and of itself was good in a weird way, constancy was something to be treasured in a world of ever changing . . . changingness? (was that even a word)
I suppose I have, he replied, not resisting the prideful smile that came to his face at her observation. Feeling like a child having received praise from a mother, It's good to see you remember me despite. . .
He allowed himself to trail off as he recounted the last time they had met, thinking about it in hindsight made his insides curl and not in a necessarily good way. He had been open, vulnerable and whilst she had been more than accommodating of that it still tainted their encounter with an air of awkwardness. Pushing the sentiment aside the mod soul allowed a serious expression to mask his features now.
I suppose now that I've found you I shouldn't beat around the bush. I was contacted by another mod soul named Mechan, said that he knew you. Given that you were the only person I had contact with before I left I wanted to know how exactly he came about that information.
The somber tone seemed to mellow out his thoughts and his frame grew a little more tense. He hadn't thought about killing her, that was too far ahead and riddled with assumptions he had yet to ascertain. But the pieces certainly didn't add up and a being as gentle as she. . . the mod soul pushed the thought from his mind, momentarily closing his eyes to push back the thought back into the recesses of his mind.
He needed answers first before any other action was taken.

She shrugged slowly. Someone inhibited by alcohol and drugs. It was more than often used for recreational purposes. It was only an issue to her if an addiction had formed. Since it caused one to ravage their mind and body without any trade off. The empty desire to be numbed to real life. That was when an issue presented itself. She shook her head. "Ofcourse I remember, I just didnt recognize," she answered with a soft chuckle. Before she silenced herself, his expression going cold and somber. She flinched slightly at this change, taking a guarded step backwards. "Mechan?"
She frowned slowly. "I never heard that name," she responded. Being able to sense the tension building. His posture explained everything she needed to know. And once again, the same odd sensation of fear was felt. "I don't know.. Him, was it?" She shook her head, taking another step back. By no means was she lying, but she was still wary. Both herself and Kumo knew the gap of power between them. So her distrust was a given.
A soft breath came from her and the circles under her feet pulsed softly, there was some process on her side. But relatively few. Little to no improvement. Just a High Velocity Technique.
A life truly worth living for is a life worth dying for.

It was hard not to believe her, the way she flinched and eased herself away from him as the awkwardness molded itself into a wire tight tension. Though in truth that could also be the effect of his new found strength, he knew the gap between them, significant enough that it would require little effort to simply end things at this point. Only sentimentality halted his killing arm from moving on her, only the awkward yet fond remembrance of their first encounter.
Yet, somehow, he could tell she wasn't lying. If anything when evidence was unmistakably in one's favor they would downright admit to it once confronted by it. On the other hand aside from the fear that manifested on her face she seemed puzzled. . . confused even. Were she a human, capable of deception he would have been more wary but being like him. . . .there could be no way. . . not unless he had yet to come across it anyway.
You'll forgive me if I don't believe you just because you say so, you have yet to lie to me I'm positive of that, but that can also be a trump card in the art of deception.
The fear he saw was palpable, the fear of death always manifested itself in one way or another, he remembered when he had that same look in his eyes during his training in the desert when he'd been stabbed in the back by subject #99. Swallowing softly the mod souls expression grew a little softer.
Though there is no way to prove that you are lying even now so I suppose the remaining option is to take your word for it, raising a finger to the bridge of his nose to scratch it as he spoke.
You realize though, he said, the sternness returning to his voice, that you are now a liability that I can no longer just disregard right?

"I know," she swallowed softly, taking in a deep breath. There was no way she would just let herself be put down like that. All she wanted to do was help and heal people. Why did she invoke the wrath of something way more powerful, then? He seemed to think she sold him out, but she had no idea where Kumo went in the first place. "I can't lie," it went against her programming, the way she was designed. Torture didn't work on her, nor physical, nor mental torture. She knew how to deal and cope with both. "I can refuse answering, however," she forced a faint smile as one of the glyphs at her feet intensified momentarily.
"Thank you," she breathed, the glyph once against returning to the same, dim lit state it was before. Her word was unconditioned truth, though that being said, she was sure reaffirming it once more would only lead to more unneeded suspicion. She slowly dropped her gaurd again, before she felt another shiver slowly crawling down her spine.
"Then," she slowly spoke, the glyph once again lighting up. "What do you plan to do with me?" She asked again, ready to use that shiny new HVT at just a moment's notice. To at least put distance in between them.

Well, he replied lowering his finger slightly to gently scratch at his lip, I would have to jack into your soul and trace your memories in order to find out how exactly I was compromised.
But, his lips twisted perplexed thought, that would kill you in the process since you wouldn't be able to withstand it as you are now.
You also forgot to tell her that doing so would require you to stick your --, Kum0 immedaiately closing a mental door on that thought before it even had time to register, the faintest traces of rosy red lining his cheeks for but a few seconds.
Alternatively asking you to simply give up your brain wouldn't work either, continuing to scratch his lip in thought the mod soul closed his eyes a moment. There was no quick, or easy way to extract information out of her that didn't involve putting her in some strenuous if not life threatening circumstance. As she was we was simply. . .
That's it!
I suppose I'm gonna have to train you then, he said half frowning at the tediousness of it all. He'd never really trained others, only himself and most of the time it was with the help of The Facility's AI and simulation rooms, recreating that outside in the normal world would be. . . .cumbersome to say the least. Yet there was no other alternative that didn't involve just melting her on the spot.
Guess it can't be helped. Until you're at least strong enough for me to jack in without killing you, he said as though trying to reason it out, I need to ascertain exactly how you may have been compromised
And so I can find an alternative method to sticking my--, he winced his eyes shut, closing the door on that thought as it arose again. He'd need to talk with The Facility's engineers about the evident. . . .design flaw in creating his vessel. But it made sense, if she were to leave now it would only create more memories to filter through, only making the process longer and posibly more detrimental to her stability. Should she train with him it would be much easier to filter through her memories as there would be less content to sift through, leaving less room for any complications.
I know probably sounds like an an ultimatum, he said rather sheepishly moving his hand to scratch the back of his head, but. . ., almost instantly his face grew deadpan and his eyes for a moment flashed cold if not downright lifeless, you remain a liability that I cannot afford to have running around.
Almost as soon as it left, the life swept back into his face and warmth permeated through his being, closing his eyes he shot her a friendly smile, and, at least, this way I don't have to kill you.

The threat of death dissipating seemed to take the edge off at least a little. "And.. How do you go about that?" Tension replaced by her curiousity. She herself had no ways of 'jacking' into someone's soul and tracing memories. Her vessel was not designed for such and her mind not created to ever do so. Even though she was designed a therapist and a moral support. Maybe it would come in handy, tracing one's memories would allow for her to find the cause of any disorders easily. And take immediate action towards those, as opposed needing to find out through long wound talks.
"Train me?" She frowned underneath the visor. Sure, she was designed for combat, but her designation led to a less than efficient offensive capability. Her powers made in such a way that she was the first one to get hurt. Her growing stronger in the first place was a tougher body. A vessel protected by a seamless weave of reiryoku. Abilities that caused her enemies' weapons to crumble to dust. The SaHU directive that she was programmed with offered all these abilities. They merely needed to be incorporated, installed and trained to the vessel. "How I may be compromised?" She questioned again, interrupted from her thoughts as Kumo spoke again.
She offered a faint smile. "Seems like I don't have much choice, then." She retorted.

Errr, the mod soul's face growing awkwardly deadpan at the question, without going into the intricacies I essentially merge my reishi with yours momentarily and essentially invade your mental faculties. He deliberately left out the part where the process wasn't designed to be a pleasant one, after all it was meant to be used on those who resolved to be mute when interrogated not on strangers who'd happened to stumble across him in a mentally compromised state of mind. . . .or maybe it was. Eitther way he'd no doubt have to tweak the workings of it whilst he trained her, at the very least the way in which it was used.
He returned her frown at the sight of her reaction towards his solution, he knew she didn't want to die yet her hesitation seemed to give him second thoughts. Dispelling this inhibition with an inward sigh, The Facility had trained him to follow through with every decision to the latter, hesitation implied an unsteady mind and there was no place for unsteadiness in this world or in his line of work.
Jeez, like explaining colors to a blind man, he seemed to exhale with exasparation, Mechan the mod soul that found me mentioned you told him where I was, fast forward through all your I don't know him I wouldn't lie spiel to where I need to scan you to ascertain the moment, whether knowingly or otherwise, you would have come into contact with him.
Not exactly too quick at putting the pieces together are we?, he half-smiled amusedly. Nothing a few vessel tweak wouldn't otherwise fix, in any case whilst she was under him it would keep The Facility from intervening, no doubt the information of his compromise would find its way to them eventually.
Oh but you do, he chuckled softly, turning to walk away from her. You could allow me to gather the information now, killing you in the process, alternatively you come with me and I train you to become strong enough to withstand the process. You could also attempt to run and risk me hunting you down, you could even try and attack me as we speak. You have a variety of options to choose from, allowing your best interests to influence your decision-making merely alludes to the illusion of a lack of choice.
He'd only made it a couple of steps before he realized he was heading in the wrong direction, in delivering his little speech he'd momentarily disregarded his direction. turning almost sheepishly he shuffled his way past her towards the park's entrance.
Right, that's the exit, he half cleared his throat. You coming?, even though he already half-knew the answer.
