Just a minor question that has been bugging me for quite some time now. But I was wondering if it could be answered for me.
Say for example. I have Liam spec into Blut, a Quincy Racial. If something comes to pass and he dies and then ends up becoming a Shinigami in a delicious bout of irony. Would I be forced to then spec into Soul Resilience? Or would I be free to change it to something like Kido? Or what if instead of a durability Mastery, I spec'd into Archery? Would I be stuck with another Mastery at Advanced with nothing to gain from that? Would I be able to change said Mastery that I capped?
The same would go for a Vizard that Spec'd into Kido but then chose to take Vizard Ress. Would that force them to keep one mastery capped at Advanced and forced to do without any other being Specialized?

For masteries that change over; yes you would keep them. IIRC, blut automatically converts to soul res. Archery on the other hand, you lose the entire mastery IIRC, and start with beginner Zanjutsu.
In general, if you are forced to lose a spec, your cap disappears. Similarly for Vizard and Kido.
If you have spec'd something though you can't just choose to get rid of the spec as long as it transfers over fairly cleanly. Though things like item creation where you need to cap 2 things, maybe you would lose one of the caps if you went through the academy and joined squad 12.

Alright. One more question. Say I master all the core masteries. If I decide to specialize do I get to pick one to bring down to Advanced? Or do I have to choose the mastery before I bring it up to Mastered?

If you have two mastered masteries you are allowed to Spec. for free (!) by speccing one and bringing the other down to advanced and capping.
You may also cap a mastery before you reach advanced in it.

Thank you for the clarification. Just need to wait for a mod to confirm of deny this.

I'm pretty sureyou should be able to spec a mastery without capping another as well. Just requires a decent training post, assuming that didn't get changed as well.

No it's always been the case that speccing into one mastery capped another at advanced.
