The amount of Hollow activity in this area at night was astounding most of the time, and sometimes it was a little more than Abel would have liked to handle. That wasn't to say it didn't help him learn how to fight better when at some sort of disadvantage, but he certainly didn't fancy the idea of becoming a Hollow's next meal. It was too humiliating.
Having already slain one Hollow by midnight, Abel was simply waiting around with his reiatsu left unchecked, although not flaring excitedly. Any spiritual entities in the area would easily be able to detect him if they were even just slightly spiritually aware. Having the intention and hopes of provoking another Hollow into battling him, Abel sat on the park bench patiently with his Quincy Cross gripped in the palm of his right hand. The moon shined brightly down upon him and the park, allowing him to see clearly without paranoia that something was creeping upon him.
Though he began to wonder if this was a really good idea, as this area was also known to sport a lot of Shinigami activity. While Abel had yet to see one at all, that just made it ever more compelling to him that eventually there would be some sort of conflict between the two parties. Especially with how he allowed himself to be sensed so easily...he was practically inviting their attention.
Little more than a few Hollow sparsely dotting Karakura had raised the alarm, but there were too many missions being dispatched lately and too many wounded. Hiroko got the head's up shortly after he had woke up that evening after binging some television: Search and destroy mission in Karakura, stretching into neighboring parks and other social centers. Aw man, they're really sending me into the frying pan this time!
Sometimes he forgot just how simple the job could be on some nights though. Nothing put up much of a fight since he started breaking in the big guns. I should feel thankful for this, but I'm kind of feeling... let down, almost. Most unusual considering how much of a slacker disposition Hiroko portrayed.
Yet by nightfall, he noticed something peculiar happening in the nearby park. Some trail he'd been tailing for the past hour went dead. So suddenly, how...? There was something else... bold, yet it seemed so fragile and out-of-place. What is that thing? It was unlike anything he'd ever felt before, surreal and mysterious.
There was just some teenager practicing with his sword, though. It looked shinier than anything he'd ever seen. It dawned on him it was light up so that he could see where the blade went in the dark. How clever, I've never seen that before. When he neglected to pay him anymore attention, Hiroko tried grasping at the trail of that tingly sensation from before...
...Whaaaaaat? No way! He refused to believe it was the teenager before him. Guy barely looked a day over twenty.
In the following moments, Abel discovered that he was not entirely as alone right now as he initially thought. In the distance he could make out a figure looking wayward towards him, causing the Quincy to take a stand and grip his Quincy Cross as it constructed his long-sword. As the blade manifested outward from the hilt, Abel held it outwards so that the tip would be pointed in the direction of this mysterious onlooker. Their reiatsu was quite distinct as he sensed them, causing Abel to wonder if this was a...
"Come no closer...whatever you are." With stern words, Abel decided to stand his ground for better or for worse. It wasn't a Hollow by the looks of it, so he shouldn't have that much to worry about, right?
"If you're looking for the Hollow, it's too late for them. Unless more of decide to show up, anyway..." Without a real look at the stranger, Abel decided to keep up the conversation to try and stir something out of the individual. Be it a word or a show of force. "Or maybe something else brought you here?" His sword still directed towards the person, Abel awaited their answer...if any.

This guy must be one of those Quincy. It hadn't been until now he'd even seen one, and Abel honestly didn't seem to impress at first glance. But the stories, the legends; there was a truth to them all. This was a crueler foe than most, empowered by their zeal.
Well, they say these suckers destroy the souls of what they kill. Seems pretty horrible to me. It had been drilled into him that it was unnatural, and so it was to him. It seemed abominable, it made Quincy dangerous pests best kept in check.
"You seem to think I'm your enemy." Hiroko was well over fifty meters away from him, wondering if he should draw his sword yet. It was a wonder they could hear from that distance without shouting. Instead he raised his hand and allowed jaded reiatsu to form a bright light which pulsed or strobed.
"I was thinking the same thing." He stepped towards the target and breached the ten meter range, before suddenly changing the point of attack to Abel's hindside, uncertain if he would follow the movements. Hiroko stood at six meters, hardly much room to move closer. It seemed sufficiently outside sword reach.
Hado #4: Byakurai." Arcing through the air towards Abel is would seek to pierce his shoulder in a brilliant cerulean flash. Yet he was noticing something in the opponent. Their eyes seemed to trace his, and he almost wondered what was going to happen as the spark came zigzagging for the Quincy.
{Spoiler}Name: Hadō #4 Byakurai (Pale Lightning) Class: Kido Tier: II Type: Offensive Range: Medium (30m) Incantation: Broiling black, fervent heat, be rejected! Description: The user gathers high-density reiryoku, which they discharge from both hand. Alternatively, they point at their target with their index finger and generate a concentrated bolt of lighting towards them. It's speed is x.1.5 faster than a Bala, unique to it.
Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps) Class: Stepping Type: Stepping Range: N/A Tier: I Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps.
The attitude this one gave off wasn't something Abel had taken a liking to, and when they started on the offensive it only provoked him further. The reiatsu he felt didn't seem very exceptional or strong compared to his own, proving reluctant to move as an apparent blue streak of reiryokou came surging towards him. "Blut Vene."
With little more than an introduction of reishi into his bloodstream, Abel allowed the Shinigami the privilege of having an open first shot. However that would not last for long. A single application of the Hirenkyaku technique would transport him to the Shinigami's hind approximately five (5) meters away. "You won't defeat me this way, now cut to the chase and unleash that Zanpakuto of yours...or are you too weak to do even that?"
The back of his clothes were singed, but if the Shinigami paid close attention he would have noticed Abel's body was completely unscathed, though his veins almost seemed to show through his skin...it would beg the obvious question that they were now both likely thinking about to themselves.
Could this Shinigami actually get through Abel's Blut Vene?
He just tanked it. Really? It was true that he refrained from a point-blank shot attempt, which had weakened the attack's potential, but it wasn't incredibly unfeasible to expect it to pierce human skin. These guys have weird tricks. Hiroko wasn't too slow on the take, and realized he was being flanked by the mystery man sooner rather than later. That's fast--!!
Death Attempt
Wheeling on his heels and drawing Neitibukaze, Hiroko came lunging into Abel's flank and tried to put his sword through to Abel's neck while he struggled to keep the blade center. Basic swordplay discipline was to keep center for dominance. Hiroko stubbornly insisted he should be able to overpower a human, no matter what the case.
Hiroko also expected it to pierce him effortlessly, though he seemed to ere in this judgement. "Hikimawasu, Neitibukaze--!!" He wasn't sure if he saw the man's blade draw to stop his or not, yet it had stopped against whatever it struck, and he vainly released his Shikai to supplement his charge.
And yet still nothing seemed to seep from his skin, that red cruor that marked even a shallow wound. Hiroko couldn't even convince himself their clothes were sufficiently tattered. It had almost no effect... This would require immediate amendment.

There it was, the only hint that this Shinigami was worth his sword. Abel smiled as the blade came towards him, bringing his own to meet it before the Shinigami could wreak any havoc upon him. The sword would be caught by his own, Abel using his off hand to tamper with the reishi in the surrounding area before dashing backwards and away from his opponent by a measurement of approximately ten (10) meters give or take.
In the moments to pass soon after, the reishi in the general vicinity would weigh down his opposition, allowing Abel to follow up with another technique which took a few moments before it began to slowly conjure itself in his hand as a simple mass of harvested energy. A smile on his face all the while, Abel observed this enemy of his closely.
He was likely going to be caught off guard soon enough, taking his good time in preparing these two techniques as he was only so great with utilizing reishi compared to most Quincy. Wondering what more spells and tricks the Shinigami had up his sleeve, Abel began to consider it naive of him to prompt the man to release his Zanpakuto so early. Perhaps he should have taken the man's life before that...
{Abel's Techs}Blut (Vene): Above Average Mastery. Now active.
Weapon Style (Long-sword): Above Average Mastery. Still active.
Name: Kujo (Expulsion) ** Class: Reishi Technique Type: Defensive Tier: III Range: 25 Meter Radius Description: A simple defensive technique in which a short area around the user has its reishi tampered with for two posts, so that the spirit particles become extremely dense and heavily weigh down anyone else who comes within range, allowing them to make a quick escape or get a free shot in. Opponents suffer a x2 decay in their overall Speed and maneuverability when coming into range of this effect.
One (1) application of Hirenkyaku (Stepping): Above Average Mastery.
I'm feeling slow. Very slow. Or did he just get faster? Gesturing in a circular motion, he invoked a torrent of wind to defend him. It kicked around the air around him violently, with the winds influence reaching him for certain. He tweaked the area to barely surround just himself, a protective six foot semisphere.
And now to preoccupy him... Lightly pressing his sword towards Abel he sent a galeful burst of wind towards him, which meant to carry him backwards into a nearby tree and bind him briefly. Hiroko's body began to feel massive fatigue; he knew he needed to pace from here on out. Yet it would seem necessary.
He would make several slashing motions, sending wave after wave of wind blasts wailing as they blew towards Abel. He would of course follow him with his eyesight and send a consecutive attack at the Quincy every time he moved. It's almost starting to feel futile. Yet Hiroko couldn't give up so easily, not yet.
All of this while standing his ground, refusing to leave his sanctuary, despite it being broken up by his rampant use of his powers. Still, it was demonstrating a formidable defense that seemed to be reliable. He felt comfortable holding out against this guy, maybe enough to call in back up or something.
{Spoiler}Name: Kochi Gekitai | lit. East Wind Warding Class: Zanpakuto Tier: IV Type: Defensive Range: 50 meters (15 radial meters) Description: By gesturing towards an area with Neitibukaze, the winds will form a protective windy barrier which repels physical objects especially well and other volatile forces sufficiently. This barrier lasts for one (1) turn at its longest before dispersing into subtle winds. These winds travel at Cero speed.
Name: Seifuu Koyaku | lit. West Wind Entrapment Class: Zanpakuto Tier: IV Type: Binding Range: 50 meters (15 radial meters) Description: Waving towards a target(s) with Neitibukaze can induce violent turbulence aimed towards subjugating those nearby with high pressure winds, forcing them to feebly sink against the environment from the crushing forces. Winds peak at Cero speed. Winds can envelop a target and carry them some distance so long as it remains within range. Persists for one (1) post before winds settle down.
Name: Kitakaze Senbatsu Jokyo | lit. North Wind Culling (x3) Class: Zanpakuto Tier: III Type: Offensive Range: 75 meters Description: Hacking and slashing at an opponent with great force such that bursts of wind are sent towards a target with the intent of lacerating the surface of their bodies. These gusts of air travel at roughly half the speed of Bala. If they cannot cut their target, they will instead push against them with the sheer forcefulness of these strikes. This technique can be used in rapid succession.
