Shio sat calmly in the middle of his bed, one hand resting ever-so-slightly in a saucer of what looked to be warm water. He didn't move them often, save a faint twitching. His eyes were shut, his lips moving ever so slightly as his other hand slowly and meticulously tore at a pile of leaves, adding the torn remnants to another bowl, this one approximately the size of a hollowed-out watermelon. The torn leaves rested on the bottom like some dark, murky sediment, and the shinigami continued to nimbly tear and crumple the leaves, taking great care to judge each one; perhaps one in every twelve leaves were set aside, gently folded and placed on the fabric of his bed. Though his eyes never opened, he seemed well familiar with what he was doing, used to it after some while. He finally withdrew his fingers from the water, letting the remnants of it dribble into the shredded remnants. Finally, one eye opened slowly, carefully...and with smooth grace, he plucked out a few more shreds of leaves. The remains fluttered ever so slightly as they landed on his bedspread, coating it in moisture.
Shio sighed, reaching behind himself to withdraw what looked very much like a traditional teapot. Slowly, with an almost ritualistic look of contentment on his face, he began to pour water over the leaves, resting his hands on his knees and waiting patiently. Like any day off, he couldn't imagine starting it without a nice strong glass of tea. The leaves were properly picked and prepared, and soon enough it would be time for spices. Next to his bed, on a small dresser, there were four or five containers of what could easily be identified as cinnamon and cloves. The rest were...incredibly obscure, almost impossible to recognize off-hand. He smiled ever so slightly, waiting for that ever-so-perfect moment, the exact right time to start adding the proper ingredients in the golden ratios.
Even moreso than his work as a shinigami, Shio truly did love a good cup of tea. It was a luxury never afforded to him, growing up, and one he'd taken quite a shine to as of late. He even found time to visit the human world, just to see all of their new and innovative methods of preparation.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap, came the sound of her feet as she made her way down the hall. She walked with purpose and confidence. Clearly someone on a mission. Determination in her ocean blue eyes. Her long black hair flowed down her black and she dressed herself in the traditional uniform of the shinigami.
As usual Meilin was out trying to build and increase her ability in some way. Though this time it wasn't anything physical really. No instead she was going to learn to use kido. Granted she disliked using the arts of demon magic, as it took too long sometimes to do an incantation and that could leave you open in battle. Plus were you to ever fight anyone that was a shinigami, they would usually know more than a handful of the kido spells and possibly have a way to counteract.
Fortunately Meilin had figured out a way around this, but in order for her to do what she needed to use kido in her combat style she needed practice. Considering that the way she was now, even the most simple of spells would blow up in her face.
Soon she came up to the door of the room she was looking for. Raising a hand she knocked on it, hoping that the resident was home. "Hello, this is Meilin Tachibana, is anyone home?"

Shio's hand rested just over one of the less easily-identified containers of spices, waiting patiently for just the right moment. He'd started a count in his head, had already figured out exactly when he'd need to drop it in, and stir. Not too long, of course. The natural flavors of the tea needed to stand out. But his concentration was shattered by a knock at his door. One that was insistent, but certainly not demanding. It was, perhaps, the politeness of it that really got to him. Whoever was on the other side didn't seem like the sort who had anything against him. He rose slowly, dumping just the smallest flick of spices into the teapot, and swirling it lazily as he spoke, in an almost singsong lilt.
"I'm here, I'll be with you in a second~!" He finally lifted the teapot, letting it hang off of a hook just atop his dresser, and turned to the door. Guests weren't normally something he expected or prepared for, and he would be lying if he wasn't just the tiniest bit worried that whoever was on the other side would be prepared to give him a sizable tongue lashing. But he approached all the same, putting on his bravest face and opening the door.
She looked familiar. Exceptionally familiar, in fact. He'd fought with her...how long ago was it? A day ago? Two? It didn't feel like all that long at all, really. But now she lacked any of that combat initiative, her stance little more than one hoping for a favor of some sort. For a second Shio was prepared to gently shut the door on her face, to profess ignorance and just return to his teas. Doing favors for others could lead to so many different sorts of problems down the line. But turning down a comrade in a time of need? Was there any possible way that wouldn't end with him being painted in the most unflattering light possible?
He opened the door just a bit wider, his smile turning ever so slightly wooden. Had Meilin been watching, she would've noticed the strain starting just a second or two after the recognition.

As she stood there waiting, she heard a voice answer her.
"I'm here, I'll be with you in a second`"
The voice was familiar though the tone was more sing-songy than she would have expected. Unlike the last time she had spoken to him, he seemed to be in a rather chipper mood. Perhaps her reason for coming her today would prove to be less work than she thought. From what she could see of this guy the last time they met, he either had a serious motivational problem or he was just a slow starter. She didn't know him that well so she couldn't judge him too much.
Her train of thought was broken when the door before her suddenly slid open and Shio appeared before her. She flashed him a smile, "Hey what's up?" Her blues watched as his face, as she could see the authenticity of his smile leave his face. Well clearly someone wasn't that happy to see her. Was she not wanted?
As he invited her in, she followed her eyes scanning more out of curiosity than anything else. Yes, I'd love some tea thank you. I really hope I'm not troubling you on your day off."

Shio turned on the ball of one heel, moving with a quiet grace that was eye-catching especially compared to his dull and drab movements during their spar. He walked back towards his bed, pulling away the teacup and pouring a measure of the brownish liquid into one of his cups. The soft gurgling sound was followed by the faintest billow of steam, along with a delightful mixture of smells that almost brought to mind high-class pastries. He extended it towards Meilin, smiling politely and nodding his head as he did. Her presence wasn't...a disturbance as such, but Shio had long ago learned to anticipate. And this time, he could think of so very many unpleasant things that would need to be tackled over the course of their conversation.
"You're fine, you're fiiine~"
Once more, his tone had that lilting and calming quality to it, some sense that he was either quite happy, or working quite hard to placate Meilin and keep her calm. He turned back to his teapot, pouring another glass for himself and staring down into it. He inhaled the mixture of aromas slowly, carefully, and then settled into place on his bed, allowing the old and battered thing to sink in ever so slightly from his weight. He seemed more focused on the cup itself than his guest for a bit, staring in near-silence. Finally, after what felt like an eternity of silence, he grabbed a spoonful of sugar from his bedside desk, stirred it in quickly and carefully, and finally took his first sip.
"There we are. My day off never quite starts until I have my first cup of tea. Technically, you caught me just in time. What did you need?"

No matter how much he put on, she could tell that her appearance was in someway bothering him. Or at least something was. It was in his voice, Shio was clearly not the best of liars. Though she decided to leave it alone as she sat and allowed the sweet fragrance of the tea to fill her nostrils. Hmm, the scent was pleasant, tangy and pleasing. She approved of the smell, however would it taste the same?
She took the pot carefully as he passed it to her with a nod. "Thank you." She began to pour her own cup of tea, watching carefully as the brown liquid filled it's container. Meilin stopped the flow just before it reached the tip then placed the pot of tea in the centre of the table between the two.
She raised her own cup to her lips sipping gingerly at the hot beverage as he explained she'd caught him at the perfect moment. With a nod she placed her tea back onto the table before getting into the details as to why she had come to find him.
"Well you see, the last time we met. I saw you use Kido and I was wondering if you could help improve in that area." She paused for a moment as judged his face to see how would be reacting. "I know we barely know each other and you're probably busy, but I just figured I would ask."

Shio's smile didn't fade, not in the slightest. He still had the same easy, calm expression on his lips, but the rest of his face seemed to retreat away, leaving it stranded on its own little island. His skin had taken on a very nearly waxy sheen, and perspiration clearly stood out on his brow as he downed the rest of his tea in one gulp. The scalding fluid should've left him hacking and clutching his throat, but instead he simply let out a long exhalation, eyes clenching shut ever so slightly as his brain began to race. He was trying to think back to their fight, to that stupid fucking competition he'd interjected himself in. He'd performed a bakudo, certainly...but not even a high-ranked one, and he'd used the incantation!
Still, Meilin was here, obviously because she'd decided that he was some sort of kido expert. Or at least more an expert than her. And what was he supposed to do, exactly? Shrug and try to wave it away with some halfhearted objection, so he could pretend he was preserving her pride? Admit that he knew a fair amount about kido and start prying into her own life to find out just how hopelessly he outclassed her? It was true their swordplay had been mostly equal, perhaps even in her favor a bit. But he had a distinct feeling that she wasn't nearly as competent when it came to the less physical arts. He rested there in silence for just a second or two, then looked up, blotting his brow.
"I'm far from an ideal teacher, Meilin. I would just end up wasting too much of your time. You could speak to someone in the kido corps; those gentleman make it sound as easy as breathing, from what I've heard. I'm sure they could find a way to make it click for you. You're not disturbing me, and I'm not busy. I'm just...not the tutor you're looking for. It'd be a disappointment for everyone involved."

She watched him down the hot tea in a simple gulp. Her expression was blank as she stared at him. Yeah he was definitely uncomfortable with her being there, but why? Was there something wrong with her, was it because of that little spar? He wouldn't hold a grudge over something so trivial would he? Her eyes narrowed at the long haired youth.
"You know, you can tell me if I did something to offend you. Or is there something wrong with me?"
Normally she wouldn't have assumed that he was acting weird, but he just scalding hot tea in one gulp, if that wasn't weird...she didn't know what was.
Oh screw the experts," she said in response to his statement. "Look, the problem is right now I really suck at kido, I just need your help in learning the basics, or at least just get to your level and I'll take it from there."
She raised her cup to her lips and took another sip if the hot beverage. Once more she gave him that blank stare as she wondered how he even managed to drink it that fast and then talk to her like his throat wasn't just a victim of possible third degree burns.
"To be honest the reason I dislike Kido is because incantations take too long in a one on one battle. That and if it's against another shinigami, most of them know the kido already and probably have a counter for it. In my opinion, they're unreliable."

"I can promise you Meilin, there's nothing at all special about my level of Kido. Give it a few years, talk to some of the real experts. You'll outclass me before you even realize it."
Shio's words were coming out a bit too fast now, the ashen expression on his face growing more and more pronounced as he realized that the worst possible scenario was upon him; she simply would not go away until she had gotten what she wanted, one way or another. He had invited her in, and for his penance he was stuck in a true catch-22. His own colleague was putting the pressure on him, and the worst part of all was how nice she was being about it! She was staring at him with curiosity, with patience, and without any animosity at all. This was, to her, just any other conversation. Didn't she understand what she was asking him to do? Didn't she realize this could only end one way? He held his hands up, trying his best to hold onto his smile as his eye twitched ever so slightly.
"I'm not offended. I'm just confused. I don't understand why you think I'd be able to help you with the incantations, or anything like that. I'm not special. I didn't do anything special. It's just memorization, and anyone can learn it. You don't need...a tutor. You don't need to go around making such a big deal out of it. Just take a look at some of the incantations, and build a rhythm. You need to get familiar with it, just like you do with using any other weapon."
He was still on the verge of panicking, only now seeming to become aware of just how thoroughly singed his throat was. He massaged it gently, his eyes shut and his stance seeming to crumple inwards as he did. He wanted to cry, wanted to shriek and recoil from this unwanted invitation to disaster. He wanted to crawl under the covers and just ignore her, until she went away. Let her figure it out on her own, it couldn't be -that- hard! He'd managed to figure it out, after all!
But he knew that sort of thinking would do no good for anyone. He knew that if he tried to brush her off, to just dismiss her request so casually, that he'd be grating against her sensibilities just as thoroughly. There was truly no right answer here. He didn't understand how this could've happened, though; it had just been a low-level kido! A simple Bakudo, the kind of thing any shinigami could perform with some patience! And he'd even done the incantation! What was it that made her think he knew the first thing on how to turn kido into a real combat application...?
"The experts in kido haven't done anything wrong, Meilin. I don't see any reason you should act so spiteful towards them. Talk to a few. I'm sure they'd be quite happy to help you get used to it, and I'm sure most of them are already waiting for eager students to show up at their doors. Even on their days off."

Again Meilin gave him the blank stare as he berated and belittled himself.
Was he a masochist? Did he enjoy verbal abuse?
She raised a hand in an attempt to have him slow down as he fired excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't help her. She wanted to laugh really. She didn't see any reason why they both couldn't benefit from this then. Besides, she'd said she only needed the basics, it wasn't something she required an expert for. Granted, they'd probably just say they were busy and send her away anyways. It was what the elite did.
"Ah Shio-san, do you really think something like this requires me to go and seek assistance from a Kidosho memeber?" She put her hand to her chin as she looked down, her face gave the impression she was deep in thought. She reached down and picked up her cup and took another sip, "I simply wanted to learn the basics, which I think you are more than capable of teaching me, plus even if you don't know how to apply it in combat. Well we can help each other in that aspect as squad members can we not?"
She looked at him with a slight smile before taking another sip of tea and placing the cup on the table once again.

Shio paused, his lips moving silently, opening them and then closing them. One could almost -see- the anguish running across his face, his mind roiling and so many thoughts jockying and lobbying with one another for expression. He watched her drink the tea, then bowed his head and inhaled slowly. He was trying so desperately not to scream, to throw something. He rose a hand finally, clutching at thin air once, twice. His other hand went to his head, pressing against his forehead and pressing forcefully against his flesh. He almost looked like he was having a headache and trying to work on it, before he grunted, finally speaking out in a slow, cautious tone.
"Meilin. I don't know what to tell you. I'm not that good at Kido! I'm happy to help. Whatever you need, whatever it is, just let me know. I'm always happy to help, but I just...I don't know, Meilin. I don't know. I'm not the Kido guy. I'm not the Kido Corps. I don't...do kido! You don't need an expert, you don't even need me! All you need is to spend a day or two going back over the basics. You will be fine. I promise." He looked up, and his expression was one of raw, wordless pain. Existential, pure misery was there, hovering at the very edge of his face. He was doing his best to rally, to keep his expression mild, but there was the faintest quiver at the corner of his lips.
"I want to help you. I want to! But I'm not...I can't...i just can't! Teaching kido is something people who know Kido do! I'm...a one-trick pony! I know two, -maybe three- of them! I just use Kido to-"
He paused, his entire face going slack, his eyes widening for a second, before he turned back towards his teapot, pouring himself another cup, and lapsing into silence. He stared into the surface of it, his entire aura one of despair. His statement, dead before it could even be completed, hung in the air. He watched the wisps of steam rising from his tea cup, and cleared his throat ever so slightly.

Meilin was now totally ignorant of everything he said as he stopped himself. She wouldn't acknowledge anything before, I only use Kido to-. Her eyes narrowed as she sighed and downed the rest of her, after she had let it cool some like a normal person. She looked at the male sitting across from her and wondered what was it about him that made him so anti-social, and what the hell did he use Kido to do? She'd have to figure that out one day.
"Look, I really need your help with this ok." She stretched her arms and rolled her head on her shoulders before continuing. "Look I don't want anyone to know what I'm up to and you seem like someone I could trust Shio-san. I don't need a Kidosho member, I'd like a member from I my squad, whom I think is more than capable for the job."
She chuckled lightly before giving him a serious look, "Now why don't you tell me, what is it that makes you so reluctant, to help one of your teammates reach the same level as you?" She tilted her head to the side, "If I recall, when we first met you said you didn't want to earn my animosity incase we worked together in the future and now I'm trying to work with you... but you don't want to. I don't understand. Why is that?"
She stared at him for another second or two before adding, "And what do you use Kido to do?"

Shio stared at Meilin for a second, his fingers once more digging into the meat of his palms, his fists forming so tightly it almost looked like he was on the verge of bleeding. He finally exhaled, letting out a high-pitched, almost frenetic giggle. As if he realized how absurd this whole situation was, and could do absolutely nothing about it. He finally rose from his chair, walking over towards his chair and lifting up his robes slowly, carefully. With the air of one about to set out on an act of incredible self-sacrifice, he began to drape it around himself, his eyes wooden as he turned to Meilin, his tone cool and calm once more.
"There's still a chance you'll find a spark of animosity towards me inside you, before the day's through. Teamwork is actually one of the quickest ways to foster discontent."
He walked towards the training room once more, his movements careful and precise. His tanto rested in one hand, the other one tapping against his hip slowly, in time with some tune only he could hear. He moved with speed and with purpose, not saying anything at all until they arrived; only once he was inside and the door was shut did he finally turn and address Meilin, his expression oddly darkened, shadows flitting across it uncomfortably. He inhaled slowly, then let it out in a slow, soft sigh as he rose one hand, murmuring the release phrase for his zanpakuto, and then letting it rest on his shoulder with one hand, as the other one ticked off slowly.
"One. You don't tell anyone what you see here. Not anyone. Two. You don't leave this room until I've decided you're ready to leave. If that's an issue, you can walk out of the room right now."
He inhaled slowly, turned back towards the walls, and began to silently count to himself. He'd give her five seconds to make up her mind before-
"Broilingblackferventheatberejected!"
The words came out in a rush of wind, almost stumbling over themselves to be said. It took less than a second, and with it Shio's finger prodded towards Meilin, a white-hot shot of reaitsu flitting towards her. It would've taken less than half a second for it to arrive at her, ready to strike with the force of a solid punch.

She stared at him, she wasn't quite sure why he was so sure she would find a reason to dislike merely from interacting with him. Albeit not impossible, but was he really that hard to get along with or anti-social? He didn't seem it? He handled conversation fairly well, besides the obvious sight of him breaking down, but she had a feeling that was because of something else. She stood and followed him, not saying a word as they walked, and followed pace for pace, step for step. Where was he taking her?
Well as long as she was going to learn something from it, she would be happy. Though he had no idea just how much animosity would be between them if he was just kicking her out, not that she would blame him but still. Once they got their destination Shio locked the door behind them, turning and speaking to Meilin, telling her to not tell any about what she was about to see. She gave him a puzzled look, she was the one that didn't want anyone to know, what was he hiding? That and she couldn't leave until he okay'd it? This caused a brow to twitch in annoyance. It was fine she would put up with it.
"Hai hai. You're speaking awfully bold and demanding for someone who was just blushing and fluste-" Her words were cut off as he suddenly fired a Kido at her. She moved quick side stepping to the left she avoided it.
What the hell?" She ignored his statement about repeating the kido, mostly because the uncalled for shot pissed her off. She'd be on guard next time though.

Her movements were rather predictable, and Shio had pretty much already expected she was going to behave this way. She was naturally fast, he had remembered that much from their first meeting. And this time he had the advantage of surprise on his side; by the time she had moved, he was gone, disappeared in a loud swishing noise. He wasn't visible at all at first, until a large reddish light appeared from above, seeming to cast strange shadows. Shio's expression was twisted away into a hideous rictus, his teeth bared in sheer animosity as he stared down at her. Her words were already drowned out, as he thrust a hand downwards towards her. This attack was quite visibly larger, and he'd given her nearly no time to prepare. The lesson had already begun, and if she couldn't figure out how to follow orders, she'd find herself more than a little disappointed by what was about to come.
He didn't speak a single word this time, didn't say anything at all. His eyes remained wide open, but they were now nearly devoid of emotion. He looked to all the world like he was truly ready to disintegrate her at the first opportunity, and this attack was a sign of that even if his face hadn't been. It shot down ever so slowly, with a the crashing certainty of an iceberg. Red light spilled out from between his palms, an arrow of flames that was nearly three feet long. It didn't seem interested in following her or in any way stopping her retreat, but as it neared the ground the flames spouted even brighter, expanding outwards with a deafening roar...but not quite loud enough to drown out the sound of a second shunpo.
"Broiling Black, Fervent Heat, Be Rejected. Try to keep up, Meilin."
He'd quite carefully planned out his attack, the newest Byakurai shooting towards her just so that if she had moved directly backwards from the arrow, if she had followed her instincts, she would've been moving directly into its path. Perhaps she was fast...but not as fast as lightning.
Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Clearly Shio hadn't heard her, or took no interest in what she was saying as he proceeded with his actions. A chuckle escaped Meilin's lips as they cracked into a half smile upon her features. He seemed awfully full of himself all of a sudden. He disappeared with a shunpo and soon after a bright red glow above her caught her attention. Her eyes opened wide as she saw the surprise Shio had in his hand for her. Meilin laughed nervously. What was it that he used Kido for again? And he told her he wasn't that good, lying rat.
The female shinigami pointed her index finger at Shio and spoke, "Broiling black, fervent heat, be rejected." A small spark generated on her finger tips and then fizzed out. "... Not exactly what I had in mind," she said as she looked at her finger with impossibility. Then she realized that Shio had fired his kido at her, luckily it wasn't as fast as the first. Otherwise she would've been hit for sure. As it came towards her she jumped back in order to move out of it's range. Shio knew she was fast, so what exactly was he planning to do with something this slow?
She looked up to his last position to see he had once again moved, just like she had thought. "Where are y-" The kido hit her square in the back cutting her off and pushing her forwards, back towards the flames. She narrowed her eyes at the sharp pain, she'd get him for that one. Using the momentum of his attack pushing her forward she threw her upper body towards the ground.
"Broiling black, fervent heat..." her left hand touched the ground and she disappeared in a shunpo just before the flames from the last kido would have touched her. She reappeared in that same position except in front of Shio at face level with her body upside down and her right index finger pointed in his face glowing with lighting energy, "be rejected." The kido fired point blank. She wasn't sure if he could dodge it, but she doubted it was strong enough to do any serious damage considering how poor she was in kido.
{Spoiler}Overwhelming Power: This buff is an incomplete cap left on the compression of power, causing for explosive torrents of reiatsu to surge around the user. This form of ability causes reiatsu sensing abilities to scramble when in the presence of the user, and also gives their overall speed and strength a 2x boost [not affecting steps]. The primary perk of this form is that it allows the user to practically use their overflowing reiryoku as a weapon. Most commonly found as waves of energy with the swing or focus of the Shikai of varying power, along with an increase in pressure by 50%.
Name: Hadō #4 Byakurai (Pale Lightning)
Class: Kido
Tier: II
Type: Offensive
Range: Medium (30m)
Incantation: Broiling black, fervent heat, be rejected!
Description: The user gathers high-density reiryoku, which they discharge from both hand. Alternatively, they point at their target with their index finger and generate a concentrated bolt of lighting towards them. It's speed is x.1.5 faster than a Bala, unique to it.
#- Non-incanted, acts as tier II.
Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps)
Class: Stepping
Type: Stepping
Range: N/A
Tier: I
Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps.
She'd done an able job of dodging his larger attack, and even once his Byakurai landed, she'd rallied. Shio had a moment of guilt, a flash of sheer self-loathing and disappointment. He wasn't -teaching- her anymore, for Christ's sake, he was just whipping her into a frenzy! He clapped his hands together, waiting for her next action, listening to her speak. She was already reciting the incantation, alright. And even as she did, Shio's tanto was neglected entirely, beginning to fall towards the ground as he himself began to murmur his incantation. The words had long ago gotten stuck in his head, something he remembered as easily as his own name or his date of birth. It had taken on a ritualistic quality...which was really the point of it, when you got right down to it. Once you had the incantation, it was just a way to keep your mind from getting in the way as you gathered up the appropriate reaitsu.
"Broiling black fervent heat be rejected!"
This time Shio didn't point at all, simply slid one hand behind himself, and left the other resting just in front of his torso. Meilin was the sort to get very up-close and personal, and to be honest there was no reason not to, when you were using this particular Kido. There was nearly no way to dodge it, and even if it didn't hit that hard? It was hard enough to make its point. But this time, the white lightning crawled over both of his hands, waiting to be discharged...and the very moment she landed in front of him, just as she was finishing her own incantation, he swung both hands forward, the bolt firing out as more of a...spray, this time.
"Really, the words are just there to keep things consistent."
Of course, he'd have to take her blow dead-on if she decided not to dodge. Something told him he'd still get the better of that encounter.

Meilin attacked at the same time as Shio, her byakurai firing in his face as his sprayed and fired at her. The explosion between the two sent Meilin flying some ten meters. Quickly the female bounced to her feet, not wanting to lose sight of the other shinigami she quickly located him. She could't believe this guy. This was crazy.
The fist time they had met he was more lackadaisical than anything, then today he was more than reluctant to help. Yet all of a sudden he was gung ho, and what happened to only knowing simple incantations. He just fired off a high forties level kido without an incantation. That seemed a bit better than only knowing a few low level spells didn't it?
"Damn, if you're this good say so from the start."
She cracked a smile at him as she raised her finger once more. Broiling black, fervent heat, be rejected." She fired another byakurai at Shio hoping to get the jump on him this time. She quickly followed up with a shunpo appearing to the right of him about ten meters behind his right shoulder. "Broiling black fervent heat be rejected." The words came faster this time.
Bang.
Another one fired and she disappeared with another shunpo appearing on his left 10m behind that shoulder. Broilingblackferventheatberejected." This time, she rattled off the words as Shio had done at the start of the session, virtually trapping him in a triangle of lightning bolts. Well, she'd see how he did with this one.

"Focus on the lesson, Meilin. I don't advertise for a reason. Be glad you managed to get my attention."
Shio didn't seem at all concerned or worried by Meilin's attacks, each incantation coming a bit faster and easier than the others. But she was still new at this, and even if she was getting better at the actual kido, he wasn't really concerned at all. He slid a foot down slowly, hooking it beneath his zanpakuto and letting it rest there as she spoke. When she had finished the first incantation, he kicked it into the air, snatching it with one free hand and murmuring under his breath, only to thrust his blade forward just in time. A rather familiar golden array of light would've popped up from his blade, but this time there was no corresponding incantation. It wasn't that strong, but it still looked plenty strong for the purposes of blocking her attack. He swung it around his waist, snatching the blade up with his free hand, and using it to block the second Byakurai as well. The shield was holding strong, golden light filling the room.
"Bakudo number 39: Enkosen."
After two of her three attacks had crashed harmlessly against his shield, he aimed his hands towards the direction of her voice for the final incantation, meeting her voice with his own, another bolt of white energy crackling and firing off from his index finger as he nodded ever so slightly to himself. He could feel Lethia's rising joy, could hear her all but demanding he whip this insolent wench into shape, that he show her just what she still had to learn. A small part of him even wanted to, wanted to punish her and tear into her time and time again for talking ill of such an important part of the shinigami's combat style. But he knew that no good could come of it. He was already pissing her off enough just by continuing the lesson beyond the point of comfort.
"You've learned one of the simplest hado. Time for a bit of Bakudo, too."
Description: Summons a large, circular shield of condensed reiatsu to block opponents' attacks. The user's Zanpakutō is used as the central focus of the shield. An Advanced or Mastered user can bypass this flaw and use it on any part of their body.

He'd countered them all. Well wasn't that something. She stood there watching him as he spoke to her, panting lightly as she caught her breath. He didn't even look winded, then again, he was using kidou like it was child's play. She was trying to focus on the incantation, and his attacks. It seemed she had a bit of a ways to go before she got to his level. She smiled on the inside, good she liked a challenge to push her farther. She'd dominate the kidou arts and make it her own as well.
"Binding, eh?"
She wasn't quite sure what he he was getting at here, but that was the second time he'd used a kidou with no incantation. "How'd you learn to do that? Use kidou with no incantation I mean?" Seeing as he'd chosen now to take a short break, she saw it as the best moment to ask her current questions. At least then, she'd be able to clear her mind some for the next part of this "lesson".
Well he had managed to teach her at least one Kidou, so she supposed she'd give him some credit for that.
