It was always one thing or the other when it came to these things. As a newcomer, you were either tested or straight up treated like an outcast. Though sometimes it was possible to fit right in. In Meilin's case, that wasn't what was going on. Being as she'd never really been a part of a squad, the sudden appearance of her and her fellow noble guard in the first division didn't take well with a few of the other squad members. She supposed that was why they decided to come and find her when she was all alone training.
It made sense, it was suicide to go after her charge. While she was small, Akane knew how to take care of herself, not to mention she was a noble - a lesser one, but a noble none the less. They wouldn't dream of touching her. As for Tatsuya-senpai, well he gave off his own intimidating demeanour. Which left Meilin, whose attitude was usually a bit more care free and playful when she was around Akane. Though most would sense her large reiatsu and realize, she wasn't a joke. Perhaps they thought it belonged to Tatsuya, since she was them most of the time. If that was the case, they were in for quite the surprise weren't they.
"Can I help you boys?" she asked as the circled around her.

Snickers came from around the room as one of the men stepped forward. His head bald and shiny as he brandished his wooden sword over his shoulder. He brought a finger to his nose and rubbed it cheekly. "Well see here missy, we don't like how you just showed up and started acting all hot and stuff. You got me?" His eyes travelled up and down the female shinigami's body, filled with lust. Oh he wanted more than just a piece, but he'd behave himself. Yamamoto-taicho would have his head if this went beyond a simple "sparring accident".
"So see, what's about to happen is, me and the boys are gonna take some time and teach you a lesson or two. About, showing, some RESPECT." Upon on the last word he lunged forward with his wooden sword raised high, he brought it down swiftly intending to leave the girl in front of him a lovely bruise or worse. Should it hit or not he would step back, and take up a different stance. Having his the blade side of his wooden sword pointing upwards and the point aiming at Meiling. "Let's see what you can do, Ms. Noble Guard."

Meilin looked around as laughter filled the room. Clearly she wasn't being taken seriously, oh well it wasn't something that bothered her too much. She rather liked when her opponents underestimated her, it made her feel so much better when she decimated them completely. It seemed that her intuition was correct as to why the large group of men had surrounded her today. Well at least this would be more fun than chasing away a bunch of pathetic perverts... hopefully anyways.
She moved quickly as the large lug lunged at her. His movements seemed slow, not quite up to par with Meilin, giving her more than enough time to react as she stepped back slightly, just out of his range. The impact of his wooden sword on the ground caused a small dust cloud to form, temporarily hiding her from his vision somewhat. Meilin used this to her advantage and ran forward quickly, her left hand swinging from right to left as the wooden sword lashed out at the man's midsection. As her left hand came back towards her, her right followed up with an attack of it's own garnering another wooden sword. It slashed upwards from the ground, vertically on his left. She was aiming for the armpit, intending to immobilize that arm and hopefully put him in enough pain that he would submit.

The shinigami seemed somewhat taken aback as Meilin rushed forth unscathed from the cloud of dust. Hmm, perhaps she wasn't as bad as he thought at first. No matter, the girl still needed to be taught a lesson. He watched as her as she came towards him, he was still moving backwards neither foot on the ground when her first strike came at him. He raised his own wooden sword to the left, guarding his flank against the blow she had intended to deal him. Though the force behind it was also more than he had originally expected. Perhaps she wasn't all talk.
His feet touched the ground and instantly he braced himself, coming to a skidding halt while holding off her offence. He pushed away her sword, just as the second attack came at him. He swung down on the outside of her sword, pushing it off towards his right before it could complete it's upwards swing. His own weapon now out to his right, he came back at her with diagonal downward swing to the left. Her own right hand just being parried would surely leave her open long enough for him to land this next blow. Or would it?

Once more he fended off all her attacks. Maybe these regular guards weren't all talk, but then again they did have more actual battle experience than she did herself. What she knows, she knew from sparring with Akane-sama and Tatsuya-senpai. These men went out to the front lines more often than her, or at least she figured they did anyways. It was the duty of members of the squad was it not? Now, it wasn't like she'd never faced a hollow before, but most of the ones she ran into were way beneath her level. She could only imagine the others such as a menos grande. Or even an Adjuchas, or the fabled Vasto Lordes of legend. Though the greatest prize of them all was the arrancar, half hollow, half shinigami. Man she'd love to fight one of those guys just once, these regular shinigami probably got chances to go at them all the time.
So she'd take advantage of fighting them all, to see how well she ranked among them in terms of strength. She smiled then, getting more excited as things picked up, "Yosh, just like that. Keep it up," she said in reference to his energy level. Her left hand reached over her head and lowered her blade vertically on her right side, warding off his attack. With a flick of her wrist she followed the mans own technique and pushed his sword away, leaving him open to attack. Meilin took advantage of this and stepped forward and using the wooden sword in her right hand she thrusted forward towards his stomach striking him hard and sending him flying backwards.

She was constantly aware of her surroundings, she was fast, she was strong. What was it about this girl? He couldn't hit her, she had him on the defensive. It wasn't supposed to be like this and wouldn't be. Despite his defiant thoughts, his sword was still swept aside and he was still struck a heavy blow to the abdomen. This girl was more annoying than he'd thought, which made him hate her even more. He slid back on his knees about ten meters away from her and put a hand to his stomach where she had hit him.
"That was just a lucky blow, you hear." The shinigami grunted, then stood to his feet and readied himself for another bout with the girl. His eyes watched her standing there with a smirk on her face as he ran at her quickly, so far he'd been going at her with simple moves, nothing too complicated. He supposed it was time he cranked it up a little.
"Alright, let's see how you handle this." He went for a thrust aimed at her face, though he would wait until the last possible second to pull his sword out of the attack and lowering it before he swung up wards again, aiming for her right wrist which was up front. Intentions to at least disarm and bring her down to one weapon.

As the man stood back , she once again took her stance seeing as she had the time to relax and prep herself. She saw no point in pressing on and wasting energy. She'd enjoy crushing him and then see if any of the others still wanted to play after. Though she did have to admit, this man was doing better than she would have expected. No, this was the least she expected from them. "I really hope that isn't all you got." She said cockily.
"That was a lucky shot, you here."
She laughed at that, well, luck or not she still managed to land a blow and sometimes that was all that it took to stay alive. "Well lets hope Lady Faith is still on my side shall we, since you have about four more people." She shot the jibe quickly at them. Noting that they needed that many just to deal with her. She glanced around at the faces red with rage for being made a fool of. She giggled and returned her attention to the man as he stood to his feet.
As he charged at her she braced herself, waiting to see how he would attack. A thrust came, she could either step back and then forward into his guard or parry and then a simple slash. Hmm, stepping back was probably smarter, but she was stronger than him, no need to worry about losing in a test of strength. She went forward with her left towards the inside of his blade in an attempt to slap it away. To her surprise, her sword met nothing but air, then she felt a sharp pain in her right wrist.
Ouch, that actually stung a little. Her sword had been flung from her hand and she shrugged her shoulders, now grasping the remaining sword with both hands.
"To be honest, I wasn't expecting that, let's see what else you've got."
A loud whistle flooded the surrounding area. If anyone located the source of the sound amidst the confusion, they'd find little Akane sitting in a corner. She'd been there for sometime, not since the start, but long enough to know what was happening. At first she thought to break it up, though Meilin didn't fight with her often enough. It was always Tatsuya who kept her sword sharp. She wondered just how skilled her other guard had been. Her father wouldn't place her in the care of anyone weak, and she did sense Meilin's overwhelming reiatsu. It was hard to ignore after all, but that didn't say much about her actual skill.
"That was a cheap shot," she called out as she walked over to Meilin's sword. "A nice trick, but still pretty cheap there."
She walked over calmly, returning Meilin's sword to her. Tatsuya would scold her for what she was about to do. It was acceptable for a bit of fun with Meilin. She pulled her zanpakutou from her hip, clutching it only her left hand as she took her stance.
"I'll join in if you don't mind."
Obviously it wasn't fair for her to use her zanpakutou against training swords, but they didn't fight fair either. She wasn't going to hurt anyone badly if it could be helped.

The man turned his head in the sound of the whistle only to find a short little silver haired girl sitting there. What the hell was all this nonsense now? Why was she interrupting his glorious moment. He looked at Meilin and jerked his head in the direction of Akane. "Who's the kid?" He asked as she made her way down to them. "And what do you mean cheap shot?" Far as he was concerned that was fair and square, he didn't hear the other chick crying about it.
"Look kid you better get outta here before you get hurt."
He pointed his wooden sword at Akane even as she drew her zanpakuto. "I can't even believe they let little runts like you into the Gotei 13. You look like you just got outta diapers." He kept spewing filth from his mouth, insulting the young noble unknowingly he took a step towards her and narrowed his eyes before running off and taking a swing at her. He'd just quickly dispose of this new distraction and get back to business with long haired broad. Ha, who figured he'd be teaching two lessons in one day, lucky him getting to educating the young.

Meilin turned her head to sound of the whistle to find her charge sitting there watching. Her eyes widened in surprise. What was she doing here? More so, why hadn't she noticed Akane's presence earlier. Hmm, she was getting better and better at that. This would prove troubling in future "Hide and Seek" matches. She watched as the young noble made her approach and she bowed, ignoring the the man she had been facing earlier.
Akane-sama, what are you doing here?" she asked.
She took this moment of distraction to take her discarded sword from Akane. She could've sworn she was with Tatsuya, perhaps she gave him the slip? No matter, she would be fine here... not that tatsuya-senpai would agree to her joining in on this match. He'd say it was much too dangerous, though Meilin felt she would be enough to help the young miss in this current situation.
As the man from earlier continued to speak, the insults came and a brow twitched on Meilin's face. He'd struck a nerve, her reiatsu went up a notch. "Hold your tongue." She turned to face the man only to see him raising a sword to her charge.
Meilin snapped then, her reiatsu skyrocketing, a heavy force suddenly covering the area. She stared him down and swung her sword, a wave of reiatsu equal to that of a tier three blast came flying out knocking the man square in the chest and back several meters. From what Meilin could see, that left four more and they all decided to rush the two girls at once.
I know I don't need to tell you, but be careful Akane-sama, not that I won't protect. Also this our secret, don't tell Tatsuya."
His insults didn't bother Akane in the slightest. She was accustomed to all manner of nasty things. When you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, it was only natural to have people who spoke ill of you for simply existing. There were a few insults that did still ruffle her feathers, but even those were resisted well enough. In her current situation, the insults only made showing what she was capable of more fun. Oh how she loved proving people wrong. More accurately, oh how she loved showing off.
Meilin didn't give her the chance, stepping in to stop the man from rushing her. The sudden burst Meilin's reiatsu staggered Akane. Try as she might, being around Meilin was difficult whenever she was fired up. At least she was prepared for it this time, not letting it bring her to her knees. She wanted to tell her to tone it down, but the others rushed them.
"Yeah, I know. I'll be careful." Akane grinned.
She was the one with the real steel. They needed to be careful around her, not the other way around. When the first of the men reached her, a flick of her wrist parried his wooden sword. She aimed to push it harmlessly to the ground, opening him up for a swift stab at his shoulder. It was a go to move of hers. Effortless and effective. Sure of her blade hitting him, she jumped back to place Meilin between herself and the men.
Post by Meilin Tachibana on Nov 29, 2015 14:26:54 GMT
The four came at them all at once. The first one to move and closest to Akane reached her quickly, while another followed closely behind. "We'll get the kid first and then the other one."
The man thrusted forward with his practice sword aiming at Akane, only to be met with her go to move of a parry and counter. The man ended up with the tip of Akane's blade in his left shoulder which caused him to well out in pain. The other man that followed behind quickly caught up swiping at Akane, but missed as she withdrew the tip of her zanpakuto from the wound and stepped out of there reach going behind Meilin.
"Tch. Little brat." He said as he eyed her before glancing over at his partner to make sure he as good apart from the wound. "You okay?"
"Yeah it's too deep." He said as he tied to piece of his uniform around to stop the bleeding.
On the other side, the other two had already paused their assault when they saw what happened to the other man.
"Hey maybe we shouldn't do this," one of them said a man with dark shoulder length hair and a goatee.
"Don't be ridiculous. There's two of them and four of us." said the blonde haired man who'd been stabbed.
With that he charged again, the other three following suit creating a double pincer. Two from the front, two from the back. Two in the air and two on the ground. The two in the air were the long dark haired man and his brown haired companion and the one who'd been stabbed came at Meilin on the ground from the left while the other one was on the right.

Meilin watched proudly as Akane-sama made short work of the shinigami's offence. Clearly her lessons with Tatsuya weren't for naught. She watched as blood spurted from the open wound, her attention still on the ones behind them as well, noticing that they stopped their movements, She decided to concot a plan in the mean while. "I see you've been keeping up with practice Akane-sama." She had a half smile on her face as she waited for the men to finish conversing amongst themselves. They were right about thing, they did outnumber the girls, but it was quality and quantity that mattered here.
She stood waiting for the men to approach again, knowing it would be foolish to just run at them and leaving her charge unguarded. Even if she knew Akane could handle them, it wasn't in her to let the girl just fight on her own like that. Her eyes narrowed when the men finally moved, trying to close them in with a pincer attack. It was a smart idea Meilin admitted, but none of these men were quite fast enough to trap her in like that.
"Akane-sama," was all she said, indicating that the girl may either want to stay close or move away for the time being.
The two men from the front on the ground were upon them quickly, attacking from both sides swing in towards her. Meilin struck out at both their swords at the same time, blocking their attacks. She pushed hard leaving their guard right open at which time she bent slightly at the knees and pushed off backwards. The two that had been coming from behind in the sky swung then, narrowly missing Meilin as she stepped back, instead striking the two men in front of her between the collar bone and neck rendering them unconscious.
"There I think that evens things up a bit, don't you?"
Overwhelming Power: This buff is an incomplete cap left on the compression of power, causing for explosive torrents of reiatsu to surge around the user. This form of ability causes reiatsu sensing abilities to scramble when in the presence of the user, and also gives their overall speed and strength a 2x boost [not affecting steps]. The primary perk of this form is that it allows the user to practically use their overflowing reiryoku as a weapon. Most commonly found as waves of energy with the swing or focus of the Shikai of varying power, along with an increase in pressure by 50%.
"Of course I stay on top of my practice. I have to stay better than you two, and Tatsuya would lecture me if I ever forgot."
The men conversed among themselves after one had taken an attack from her. A mix of fear and overconfidence bounced between them. In the end, they decided they could rely on their numbers to do the girls in. That was wrong. Meilin could handle them herself, Akane was sure of that. Not to mention, she could easily defeat them if she really tried to do so.
"Alright," she responded to Meilin's command.
Akane shared a special connection with her guards. She only needed to hear her name to know what they wanted of her. As Meilin fended off the frontal attackers, she entered a step that carried her to the other side of the room. She let the men attack Meilin without lifting a finger to help. When the opening presented itself, she stepped again, bringing her well within striking distance of the men behind Meilin. She stabbed forward, catching another man in the shoulder.
"It doesn't even the odds, now we have the advantage." She looked at the remaining uninjured man with a wicked grin. It was as if her eyes shined with her malice.

Two of the men fell to the ground unconscious as they were struck down by their own allies due to Meilin's careful planning. The remaining two cursed as the they turned to go at the girl once more, only to have Akane appear and stab the dark haired man from earlier in his shoulder as well.
"Ahh, what the hell?!" he yelled as he pulled his arm back and fell onto his ass holding his wounded arm.
The remaining man stood there with the two females glaring him down. He didn't know what to do. They couldn't take them four on two, what was he supposed to do on his own. It was impossible, they just wanted to teach this girl a lesson. She was supposed to be easy after all she didn't do anything but babysit all day long. What was with this insane strength?
He stumbled backwards and fell, shivering in fear, his forehead beginning to cover with sweat. You'd have thought someone dumped a bucket on him.
"Look, i didn't really want to do this ok. T-they made me. I had no choice alright, please don't hurt me."
The man dropped his sword and bowed his head as he begged for forgiveness.

Meilin laughed as the men fell for her plan. they were so silly. They came to tease a wolf thinking it was a harmless pup. The funny thing is, she hadn't even bared her fangs at them. She glanced down at the wooden swords in her hand and smirked. Maybe all the shinigami in the Gotei 13 weren't quite up to par.
She looked up as she heard one of the men scream out to Akane once again removing her sword from his shoulder. Meilin laughed and walked over to them as the man fell onto his backside. She found it funny how quickly there little pack had thinned out.
"Hmm, looks like you should've came with more people."
She reached up and scratched her head as the second man started to beg. She didn't like when people did that. The least they could do was have some pride and dignity. Especially as a man and a member of the Gotei 13. A member of her division much less.
"Ugh, shut up and get out of my sight. And take your friends with you, I don't want to see you around myself or Akane-sama ever again."
It wasn't that she hated weaklings, but when you refused to even stand up for yourself, well then she lost all respect for you immediately. A weakling could become strong or be brave, but a coward was always a coward. you could never quite trust them.
Akane giggled as she lumbered towards the remaining man. To think something so small could be so frightening. That was her gimmick, power in a small package. One of her gimmicks anyway. She came up with all sorts of flattering nicknames for herself. Like any other young child, she liked to pretend she was a super hero or bigger than herself.
"What," she snapped out of her daze as Meilin spoke to the man. "Aww, are we really going to let him go? You know I could get away with it if we played with them a little more. Father wouldn't let anyone know if I did something to damage the family reputation."
Her father's ambition came in handy in times. He sought to further their family name, and to ascend the ranks of the noble house. Her mother felt the same, though she cared about Akane more than her father ever showed. Oh well, Akane learned to adapt, and use anything to her advantage.
"You should consider yourself lucky," she spoke to the man. "Hurry up and get out of her before I make her change her mind. And you better not tell anyone about this or I'll come find you."

Meilin glanced at the trembling figure of the so called man as Akane talked about how they could get away with more fun. She supposed that was true but she really couldn't stand cowards. Meilin shook her head in response to Akane then turned towards the man.
"Now get," she said nodding her head in the direction of the door. She watched as the man hurriedly got to his feet and ran around trying to wake his friends. That one that had been stabbed most recently rose and tried to help the other man to his feet as well.
To be honest, Meilin was disappointed with this turn of events. Not that she didn't enjoy kicking some tail with Akane-sama, but she was hoping it would have been more fun. These men weren't much of a challenge, well in a sword fight anyways. Perhaps they were skilled in other areas, who knew.
"Hmm, you might be right on that point Akane-sama, but we shouldn't give your father too much work to clean up. After all, it's better to be owed favours than to owe them yourself." She felt proud of herself, dropping that bit of philosophy on Akane. Somewhere out of all this she had to have learned something, right?
