TRAINING THREAD #1DIALOGUE: Abel & Brynjolf
[ TAGS ]
Things had been getting pretty rough for Abel as of late, and to make matters worse the Vandenreich was considering the idea of discharging Abel so that he may go back home. Quite apparently being of no use to them, it only aided his pupils in their attempts to bring Abel's spirits down further yet.
Now assembled within the training hall, Abel was being forced to "spar" one of his fellow Soldat; a fellow who went by the name Brynjolf. He was older and larger than Abel, though relied on the traditional art of crafting a bow and arrow out of reishi. A contorted grin escaped his composure for a moment before the Vandenreich Captain stepped in. Giving a subtle nod, he insisted for the Quincy to engage in their "practice"...
'This couldn't get any worse.' He thought. But that was far from the truth, watching as Brynjolf constructed his reishi bow and fired a shot straight for Abel's gut. With his Quincy cross in-hand, the straight-sword manifested just in time to parry and deflect the arrow from hitting it's mark. "Not bad...but there's more where that came from, welp!" This time a cluster of ten (10) arrows pursued Abel, who was still standing at a close distance of five (5) meters from Brynjolf.
'How typical...' Of course, provided they weren't that far off in skill when it came to crafting their reishi constructed weapons, Abel was able to deflect a majority of the arrows with only a scarce few managing to produce minor scrapes along his arms and legs. "You'll have to do better, Brynjolf." Raising his off-hand, Abel took aim at the Soldat.
"Festnahme." Within a brief moment reishi sought to bind his opponent, whom was already prepping another slew of arrows in retaliation. Upon impact there was a mild explosion followed by a plume of smoke, but apparently Brynjolf had already moved...? "YOU LOSE!!!"
Suddenly a large vibrant arrow was manifesting above him, Brynjolf apparently putting all of his concentrated reishi into one shot from an aerial stance. Fortunately for him, Abel was accustomed to doing the same being that his reishi weapon was but one sword. With only a short distance between them (otherwise being a point-blank shot), Abel brought his reishi sword to point towards the arrow before it could be released. "Not yet!" As it released, the arrow split down the middle as it met with Abel's sword, deflecting in two separate pieces and piercing the ground below them.
Another eruption of smoke, and the two Quincy managed to escape relatively unscathed. Using his off-hand to pat himself of any debris, Abel pointed his sword out and to his side, signaling to Brynjolf that he was ready for more. This time, however, a crazed smirk was worn upon his face.
Perhaps Abel was actually beginning...to enjoy himself?
{Spoiler}Name: Festnahme (Capture) ** Class: Reishi Technique Type: Binding Tier: III Range: 25 Meters Description: A blast of half bala speed reishi fired off at an opponent that binds them instead of dealing damage.

TRAINING THREAD #1DIALOGUE: Abel & Brynjolf
[ TAGS ]
With the smoke being able to settle completely, Brynjolf waited for a moment before dispelling his bow. It was then he began to smirk as well, followed by a menacing grin as he began to construct a different weapon, this one being of relative shape and size to a bladed staff.
"Holding back, were we?" Acknowledging that Brynjolf was going to be trying his damnedest, he began to cast a spell around him whilst the opposition was fixated on charging in for the final blow. 'Kujo.' The reishi surrounding Abel would become much more dense, weighing down anything within his immediate vicinity besides himself.
Brynjolf, even with his longer weapon, would still be at the disadvantage here, using all that vigor to make a meager jab for Abel's abdomen. Unbeknownst to him, Abel's pace was going to seem faster all so suddenly.
In the time it took for Abel to maneuver to the side in order to avoid the strike, Brynjolf was still gazing at his mark while Abel was following up with his own attack. "What?!" Abel smiled, his sword now brought up against Brynjolf's neck.
"You've lost, Bryn-"
Were it not for the fact Abel left his guard down, he probably would've managed getting away untouched. However, in the illusion that this fight with Brynjolf was over, Abel was barely able to avoid the full breadth of his swinging staff. Sustained on his lower left leg was a moderate gash, horizontally along the side of his calf. He would've uttered something along the lines of 'Cheap bastard.', but it appeared Brynjolf was still pursuing his target with a vendetta. 'What's the Captain-!?'
Watching from afar, Abel could see the subtle curvature of lips forming a smirk on the Captain's face. This wasn't going to be a fair battle...not if Abel could help it, at the very least. He was being backed into a corner, and now there was no more breathing room...it was do or die.
{Spoiler}Name: Kujo (Expulsion) ** Class: Reishi Technique Type: Defensive Tier: III Range: 25 Meter Radius Description: A simple defensive technique in which a short area around the user has its reishi tampered with for two posts, so that the spirit particles become extremely dense and heavily weigh down anyone else who comes within range, allowing them to make a quick escape or get a free shot in. Opponents suffer a x2 delay in their overall Speed and maneuverability when coming into range of this effect.
With the Captain of the Vandenreich allowing the two Soldat to fight, Abel simply watched as Brynjolf closed the gap between them, his spear whirling in circles between his hands. A malicious grin followed by a threatening yell was all that Abel needed to confirm that he pushed Brynjolf too far. Unable to move very quickly, Abel relied instead on Brynjolf's lack of caution. The man was attacking in a frenzied rage, being ever so reckless...
"JUST DIE ALREADY!" But Abel had no such plans, watching the twirling blade come landing straight down for his head. Reading his moves had now become elementary, though the force behind them was undoubtedly increasing. 'Is it his Blut Arterie?' Abel could not yet tell.
Regardless, Abel's sword came upwards in a horizontal position to meet against the incoming staff's blade. From there he simply kept it in-place, thrusting forth and allowing his sword to slide along the edge and shaft of the weapon before coming across Brynjolf's torso in a fluent motion.
"YOU BASTARD!" Allowing a brief moment to catch himself with his sword staked in the ground so that Abel would not fall on his face thanks to the cut sustained on his lower left leg. "I'm done playing games with you, Brynjolf..."
Turning his head to look over the back of his right shoulder, Abel watched his supposed "comrade" charging him once again with their spear. Bynjolf aimed high, or so it would seem, aiming to run his spear through Abel's back and out the other side in an attempt to take his life. However...
Smiling ever so slightly, Abel allowed his wounded leg to buckle naturally as Brynjolf drew closer, maneuvering out of the way of the strike aimed high-and-center on his back by kneeling on the wounded leg's knee and rotating to his right to face Brynjold. With the spear's blade well past missing it's mark, Abel's sword simply rotated in a left-to-right fashion flowing with the kneeling motion. His sword then struck the other quincy's chest and... "BLUT VENE!"
'What?!' Noticing that his sword was stopped after embedding in the man's flesh by an inch, Abel watched as the spear above him came crashing down blade first. Performing a tuck and roll, he found himself in a precarious position on his rear end, back yet again facing his adversary. There weren't many options for Abel, so he had to trust his gut feeling. Detest. Defy. Defeat...
"BLUT ARTERIE!" Bolstering his offensive capabilities, Abel quickly spun himself around and lashed out with his sword towards Brynjolf's face, a cluster of reishi spewing out and causing him to side-step in order to narrowly avoid the attack as he recklessly pursued his opponent.
This gave Abel ample time needed to force himself upright, turning to face Brynjolf as the two were now set on taking the others' life. Still persistent enough to charge Abel head on, it would seem Brynjolf had yet to learn his lesson. While many looked down upon him, Abel was actually on par with many of the Soldat in the Vandenreich. One of those Soldat being Brynjolf...
When it came to fighting from a range, Brynjolf held the upper hand. But Abel grew up using a sword, fighting against many a different types of bladed or blunt weaponry. And then came their spiritual prowess...well, that was a tough one. Brynjolf seemed very capable in that regard, but on the other hand so did Abel. Which left it to what, exactly?
Watching as Brynjolf came in with a steep lateral swing of his spear, Abel simply allowed himself to block, wielding his sword with just one of his hands. The strength of his "Blut Arterie" not only allowed him to stop the spear short of his shoulder or neck, but also allowed Abel to grab hold of Brynjolf's spear by the shaft with his free hand and keep it from moving any further. "This ends here..."
Looking Brynjolf in the eye whilst he struggled to free his spear, Abel drove the tip of his straight sword into Brynjolf's chest cavity, releasing a considerable amount of reishi from the tip as his weapon met against Brynjolf's Blut Vene. With a surge of blue reishi just large enough to engulf the two encompassing the area around them, it was impossible for any of the other Quincy to see what exactly was happening.
Yet, soon enough the energy dissipated, and they could see that Abel had successfully managed to pierce his blade through Brynjolf's torso. Blood fell from both his body and Abel's blade, followed by Brynjolf collapsing shortly after with Abel's sword still skewering his body. That was until Abel relinquished his spiritual weapon, and began walking away from the corpse and towards the Captain at the door...
"You failed me, Captain. But not only that..." Pointing back at the corpse, Abel went on to say much more in an effort to irk the Vandenreich officer. You failed Brynjolf. His family. Not that I care, really, since it's on your shoulders now."
With nothing left to say, Abel continued on his way out of the room in search of medical treatment. One of the nurses would surely take the time and care to treat him, a pure-blooded Quincy. Abel merely hoped that something like this would never happen again. Fighting his comrades wasn't what he signed up for, no. Abel signed up for God's fight...
{Spoiler}Keep in mind that both Abel & Brynjolf are of the exact same rank & mastery level for everything, making this a completely equal-leveled fight.
