It was that time of year again; Christmas time, and while very few Japanese people celebrated it, many Quincy did. Every year Ailill got together with all of his Quincy friends, and had a huge party in one of Naruki City's passive parks, and this year was no exception. It was exactly the opposite honestly, this year it was an even bigger party than normal, because a lot more Quincy had shown up from Karakura Town. Ailill was not used to so many people not only knowing what he was, but also being what he was, and it made him incredibly happy.
With his twin daughters off playing in the snow, Ailill was sitting on a bench with a huge cup of hot coco, and was bundled up tighter than a bank's vault. While he loved the cold, and playing in the snow, he hated getting sick. He was laughing, and joking with everyone who was attending the party, but it was not until they all sat down to eat dinner that he realized just how many people were actually there. Ailill could have sworn that there were over eighty people at the table, and that was only the adults, but he made it a habit to introduce himself to everyone that he did not know.
The one thing about being from a northern European country was that you just got used to the cold and the frost. While he expected many people to be shivering in the frigid temperatures and huddling together to find warmth, Grindal was for the most part comfortable. He had a nice peacoat pulled upper torso that was nicely buttoned up to trap in any residual heat his body released on its own. Underneath, however, he had a nice sweater and designer jeans covered his legs. Feet were placed snuggly within a rocking pair that lead him through the dusted pathways en route to this party he had heard from a friend’s friend’s friend. It wasn’t a direct invitation, mind you, but at least he had a chance to meet a few other members of his race. He hated to admit that he didn’t quite have any friends since his most recent transplant into this part of the world.
With his hands loosely held within his pockets, the tall male would look around the area for the first victim person to associate with. But before he even managed to chat with anyone, everyone gathered inside to eat upon the food. Was it catered? Or was it potluck? He hoped not the latter since he didn’t bring anything outside of himself. And, generally speaking, he preferred to not to be consumed as a portion of anyone’s meal. That required a couple dates first at least! He was classy like that after all.
After setting his coat in another room to be out of the way and gathering a few fixin’s for himself and grabbing a nice beverage of the adult variety, Grindal would scout out the tables and eventually took a random one where he thought was an opening. Sometimes the best way to meet others was by forcing interaction. “Hey, this seat taken?” he questioned anyone at that particular table, his eyes wandering back and forth between all upon it to find an answer. Any hesitance would make him go on to the next area while acceptance would result in his ass being taking a seat on a chair. “Hope you don’t mind my intrusion. New around these parts. I’m Grindal Horist. Pleasure to meet you all,” he said with a smile.

Ailill smiled as a new comer introduced himself as Grindal Horist, and offered his hand for a shake. "Well met Grindal. I am Ailill Callaghan. It is nice to see more faces from my side of the world." After seating himself, Ailill said a small prayer before he began to eat his food, and talk with everyone around him, but kept looking over at Grindal. Ailill loved Japan, but he so rarely met other Quincy from northern Europe, and Ailill was hoping that Grindal would become a great friend. It was not until Ailill was finished with his second plate, and third glass of ale, that he finally got up the nerve to really approach Grindal about...well about Grindal.
"So, Grindal, what brings you to Japan my friend? I have not met many of our kind from that side of the world, since I have moved to Japan I mean." Ailill laughed nervously for a second, before reaching for his cup once more to hide his embarrassment. He did not like being so forward with people, but his curiosity got the better of him. Other than his daughters Ailill had a very small group of friends, so he took every chance he was offered to make new ones, even if it meant prying into people's lives.
SOMETIMES ITS NICE TO START SOMEWHERE COMPLETELY FRESH
The older quincy formed a nice toothy grin as the other came over and offered him a shake as a greeting. It was nice to see some other Europeans at this party. He figured it would be mostly Japanese folks who didn’t speak a word of his native tongue. And, to be quite fair, his Japanese was far from worth complimenting. His taxi driver honestly had some difficulty trying to understand him when he gave the poor man the directions. Despite Ail’s kind greeting, it proved quite difficult for him to join in the laughs and jokes. A lot of these folks were obviously friends or at least familiar acquaintances. He really was the odd man out who could only awkwardly laugh whenever else chuckled in hysteria. Hopefully, that would pass with time.
Eventually, the dashing male took a seat right beside him. He could smell the alcohol on his breath: liquid courage it would seem. “Well, I came here after hearing that there was an increase in spiritual activity. Honestly, it peeked my interest. Since home wasn’t offering much anything in terms of the supernatural, I packed my things and moved. Plus, its just me now so no sense in dwelling in a place of constant bad memories. You know? Sometimes its nice to start out somewhere completely fresh,” answered Grin as his finger idly traced over the scar that swiped across his nose and cheek. He was still a tad self-conscious about it. Even a year or two of branding it wasn’t enough to get used to the marking. It was quite distinct injury after all. “How about yourself? Why Japan? Similar reasons? Or did you just want to start a family here. Couldn’t help but notice the young ones hanging around you. Daughters I am guessing? Or nieces? You seem liked you’d be that cool uncle that the kids love” chuckled the man, just trying to spark some small talk.

Ailill smiled broadly, and nodded his head at the mention of his daughters. "Yeah, twin daughters, and so far they are taking after their father." He beamed at his daughters, and when he turned back to Grindal, he sighed. He had come to Japan when he was so young, that some times it was hard for him to remember what his home looked like. "Well honestly I came here to learn more about Shinigami when I was sixteen. I miss my home, but I've built a life here. I hope to take my girls back to Ireland some day soon so that they can meet my side of the family."
As he was speaking to Grindal, his two eight year old daughters came up to him, and each gave him a hug, and bowed to Grindal. After greeting Grindal they rushed off outside to start throwing snowballs at each other. After watching his daughters for a few minutes, he looked back at the new comer and smiled again. "So far Merida is looking like she is going to prefer archery, while Yui is going to prefer a variant of the original Quincy fighting style like me." Ailill knew that he was probably talking about his daughters to much, and did not want to bore Grindal, so he decided to change the subject.
"What about you Grindal? Are you an archer? Do you prefer the "old ways," or the new?" Ailill hoped he was not being rude, by asking such a personal question. However, he wanted to know as much about Grindal as he could possibly learn in one night.
The other’s answer perked a brow up. To learn more about shinigami? That was an interesting reason but it was not one he felt needed further explanation. In many ways, one could view those death gods just as much of enemies as hollow. While he understood the reasons they performed such a massacre in the past, it didn’t mean he appreciated the tactics that they were forced to employ. But alas, what made the past could not be changed and time must go on. Just had to learn from the mistakes of your ancestors. “Sounds like they’d enjoy themselves. I had two daughters as well but unfortunately they didn’t abide by my warnings about playing with hollow bait. They ended up summoning more than they could handle I’m afraid,” sighed the man. Maybe Ailill could at least relate to such a statement. Would be nice to have someone who could understand a father’s loss to a certain extent.
Though, when the children ran up to hug their father, he smiled at them kindly. They were quite adorable. And playful little things! How sweet. “I never quite took to archery per say but I have to admit I enjoy my ranged fighting. I prefer revolvers myself. Lets my fight with a hand free or to use both to pepper foes with my ‘arrows.’ My father told me of a Quincy who ended up dying after he lost use of an arm. Didn’t want the same to apply to me.” Shrugging his shoulders, he would lean back against the table and stretch out the front of his chest causing the muscles found there to bulge through the confines of his sweater. “I’m guessing you’re more of an up-close kind of guy. You have that aura about you. I can see it in your posture.”
With that statement, Grindal’s eyes would flash over the male’s frame a bit before contorting his lips into a simple smirk and shaking his head. “Well, since you’re from the area, would you mind showing me around a bit sometime? I’ve only been here a couple months so I still haven’t exactly ‘seen all the sights.’ Would be nice to have a tour guide that I can actually understand and vice versa.” He couldn’t help but release a soft chuckle with that one.

[attr="class","textieno"]"Guns huh? That's interesting. I never would have thought about going that route, but yeah I actually wield a sword and shield instead of a "bow." Ailill smiled again, and raised his eyebrow when he noticed Grindal flexing, but could only chuckle. "My posture huh? I did not think I was quite so obvious." His tone was bright, and he was beginning to sober up from his adult beverages, when he stood up and stretched. After motioning for Grindal to follow him, Ailill began to head outside, though he took off most of his winter gear.[break][break]
When he was outside AIlill began to exude his Reiatsu, and immediately began to warm up the around himself just enough to remove the need for a jacket. When he was sure that Grindal was going to join him, A began to walk down a snowy path, making sure he could see his daughters where the played in the snow. "I can show you around any time you want. I actually live in Karakura town, which is not far from here, so I know that area better than I do this one."[break][break]
YOU CAN'T LOOK LIKE A COWBOY WHEN YOU'RE USING A BOW.
The male nodded his head. “Yeah, its not a common quincy weapon, but hey, they work quite well. They’re pretty versatile. Plus, you can’t look like a cowboy when you’re using a bow.” Grindal released a soft chuckle as he took an idle sip from his brewsky before noticing Ailill standing up to move towards the door. Part of him expected that their little conversation was going to be over but the motion asking him to follow made him smile slightly. It seemed the man was enjoying their conversation a bit. Looks like he was working his way to making the man his friend. As the Irishman made his way outside, the older of the two grabbed his jacket from the coatroom before tossing it on his broad shoulders. Though a few steps behind the man, he wasn’t overwhelmingly so and easily was able to catch up to him.
When he did, however, he was struck with a certain warmth. It was an aura that the man himself seemed to be producing from himself. Frankly, it was interesting: not because he could create heat but because the Quincy was basically exposing himself and everyone around them to anyone who had any remote skill with sensory perception. “You trying to bring every shinigami and hollow to our location?” chuckled the man as he stuck his hands within his pockets, his eyes flashing over the evening sky just to see if there was anyone (or thing) coming towards them. “Might want to switch over to using Reishi. That’s a bit harder to detect you know,” he winked playfully, his back finding support as he leaned back against a firm tree.

[attr="class","textieno"]"I wouldn't mind a hollow, or two." Ailill laughed slightly before he stopped focusing on his Reiatsu, which caused the heat to die out. Though he kept pace with Grindal, Ailill made sure that his daughters were never out of his sight, because he was worried about Hollows coming. He would never admit it to anyone, but Ailill was terrified of hollows, and not because he was afraid of fighting them. Ever since a hollow had killed his wife, Ailill had been to terrified to let his daughters out of his sight for fear that they would be taken as well. It was because of this fear, and drive to protect his daughters that Ailill was so determined to gain more power, and to become better skilled in every Quincy art that he could learn.[break][break]
"Grindal.......can I ask you something? It is kind of a rude question, but; what drives you? Why do you fight? What.....what scares you? Ailill's voice broke when he began asking about Grindal's fears, and it was some what obvious what terrified him, because his eyes never left his daughters. Other than that however, his voice was strong, and firm. When he finally looked back at the man beside him he forced a smile, as a sort of apology for being so rude, and intrusive.[break][break]
Now that he was not warming himself up with Reiatsu AIlill was getting pretty cold, but he body remained relaxed, and the only sign was the gooseflesh on his arms and neck. It was not until a bone chilling breeze blew through his messy, blond, hair that he shivered, and when he did it was quite violent. Ailill's face turned bright red, and he laughed in embarrassment, but the color quickly faded, and he called his daughters over to him. Within minutes they brought him his winter coat, and scarf, which he quickly donned.[break][break]
"To tell you the truth Grindal, I do not know many ways to use Reishi. I mean, I'm pretty adept at using it, if I say so my self, but I have not really learned many ways to use it. I've been here in Japan for quite a while, and I've never had a teacher. After moving here I mean."[break][break]
“I fight because I don’t want to be weak. Ever since I learned of my Quincy heritage, I basically have been told that I was weak in one way or another. My immediate family basically disowned me because my mother wasn’t a pure-blood, my father passed away before I could learn everything he had to offer, and I wasn’t able to save my children when they needed me the most. That’s partially one of the reasons I came here. With so much spiritual activity, I would imagine it would guide me towards a path to improve and grow stronger. And if not, at least I could die trying.”
Grindal would shrug his shoulders some. He really didn’t mind the question too much. He was just merely concerned whether or not Ail would disband whatever friendship they were starting to form when he mentioned that he was a mixed-blood. Some Echt Quincy just despised their Gemischt brethren: case and point at his family. He could only hope that time would allow such thoughts and ideals to change.
When he saw that the man was starting to shiver from the cold, he would chuckle softly. Approaching him, the man would wrap an arm around his shoulders and give his arms a slight rub with his hands to try to allow friction to heat him up. “How about we head back inside to get your jacket back on. No sense in you catching a cold over nothing.” With that, he’d give him a very slight push to guide him back towards the party, always minding the other’s thoughts of keeping his girl’s in view.
“Not much to it really. If you can form a bow and shoot arrows, you can basically use it for anything. Just takes practice.” Extending a palm upwards, he would gather some spiritual particles from the atmosphere and condense it into a small orb. He would then extend it and launch it up towards a tree small tree branch. Its power easily pierced through the bark and sent pieces of wood falling safely to the ground below. "See? Not that complicated."
Name: Danze [Dance] Class: Reishi Type: Supplementary Tier: II Range: 25 Radial Meters Description: The user can create orbs of reishi and spread them around him. At will, the orbs can launch, at half bala speeds, directly toward the opponent. The user can create up to five of these orbs at a time.

"Our blood is far to precious to disown family simply because one fell in love with a normal human. Don't worry man, you will find no such hate here." Ailill smiled at his new friend when the guy tried to help warm him up, and would have taken him up on his ioffer to go back inside should his daughter not have met them half way with his coat, and beanie. With his coat and beanie helping to warm him up, Ailill decided walk out into the park, so that he could show Grindal what he knew about manipulating Reishi.
"Okay, so I know a little about manipulating Reishi, but I guess I just got lazy or something, because every time I try to...teach myself something new it ends up blowing up in my face. Literally." With that said Ailill used one of his favorite techniques to pull an apple out of Yui's hand, and bring it into his own. After doing so however, he winked at his new friend as he held up three fingers, and counted down to zero, after which Yui realized what happened. She had promptly marched over to her father to take her apple back before she continued playing with her sister.
Name: Festhalten (Grip) Class: Reishi Technique Type: Supplementary Tier: II Range: 30 Meters Description: By tampering with the Reishi around an object, one can hold a telekinetic-like control over it; allowing them to use multiple weapons at the same time without hampering their prowess as a weapon wielder. Objects are tossed at bala speeds.
IT LET ME FIGURE OUT A COUPLE MORE INTERESTING THINGS
Grindal smiled when the male stated he wouldn't hate him just due to his "impure" bloodline. For that, he was quite thankful. He didn't know too many Quincy so he merely assumed most of the Echt-class where hateful people who had their head up their ass. Luckily, Ailill didn't seem to show such attitudes. Maybe it was because he was a kind soul, or the fact he raised himself to a degree, but whatever the case he was someone he certainly could call friend. When the male took his winter wear from his daughter and applied it upon his body to stay warm, he merely followed him towards the park. From all the snow fall, he could see the occasional stepped trail that lead their way towards the swing. It showed him that even in these temperatures, people loved to play.
When Ail showed some skill with reishi control by stealing an apple right out of his kid's hands, the older of the two chuckled softly. While he couldn't do anything of that sort, he did greatly enjoy playing tricks on his children. It acted as a source of education as well. He assumed that he was training them in their race's arts while he worked on improving his own. "I understand that. I've had some difficulties learning some of my more unique skills. One time, I nearly died when I was trying to learn how to use Blut. My body just doesn't like reishi flowing in through it. I'm sure you have no trouble with that mister pure blood," winked the man playfully. "I may have failed in learning that, but it did let me figure out a couple of more interesting things."
With that statement, Grin would flash red with energy before literally vanishing right before the man's eyes. Before he could even figure out where he was by sensory or other degrees of perception, he was standing literally right behind him. With only inches between them, his arms would come around to playfully grab the man around his chest while his breath playfully tickled at his neck. "Boo."
Name: Blut Tor [Blood Gate] Class: Reishi Tier: III Type: Supplementary Range: 0m-50m, Any (conditional) Description: By infusing reishi through his body, Grindal will coat himself in a blood-red energy only to disappear and reappear elsewhere. The distance this teleportation takes is completely dependent on the amount of concentration placed within it. If within 50 meters, Grindal (and up to three others) may instantly move to said location. However, should he had made a Blut Pakt with another, he can spend an entire post concentration of locating their presence before teleporting to their direct location. This may not be used to pass through protective barriers, travel to other realms, or allow him to bypass thread tags.

When Grindal literally disappeared Ailill freaked out for a second, and jumped four feet straight up in the air when he felt the man's arms around him. When he turned to face Grindal, not only was he extremely pissed, but his face was a bright red, betraying his embarrassment. "Not funny man! You scared the hell out of me!" Though he had said that it was not fuinny, Ailill could not help laughing at his own reaction. He knew normal people would not have reacted that way, but he had never witnessed a person turning invisible before.
As he made his way through the snow to the bench that was just to the left of the swing, he manipulated the Reishi around Grindal's feet into binding chains, hopefully without the man being aware of them. When Ailill arrived at the bench, doing his best not to give away what he had done, he sat down to face his new friend, hoping to watch him fall face first in the snow. "So, question Grindal; do you know any....what do they call them.....stepping techniques? I've been looking for someone who knows how to perform them so that I can learn how to myself. That is another skill I can not seem to wrap my mind around."
Description: By altering the properties of reishi around the opponent’s feet, this technique causes a chain of reishi to wrap around an enemy's legs as they approach, slowing their movements as if walking through snow and sludge or water. The wrapping of the chains occurs at bala speeds, making it useful for retreat.
The look on Ailill's face was priceless. That combination of him being flustered and embarassed was just too cute for words. Honestly, he wished he could have taken a picture of it. Maybe he'd have to set that up again and have one of his daughters snap a shot. "You're probably one of those arm clingers during scary movies, huh?" humored the man as he playfully punched the other's arm. He just wanted to give him a little hell. What was the point of having spiritual abilities if you couldn't goof off with them from time to time?
As he followed, the man knew that he was going to do something. He could just feel it in the air. That's why, when he felt chains wrap around his ankles, he was not surprised. Still, that didn't prevent him from falling face first into the cold snow. Grunting, he pushed himself up onto his knees and used a Seele Dolche he had on him to cut through the reishi chains. When questioned, he shook his head. "My father could do it. But he died before he could really train me in it. All I know is that it is based around having reishi under your feet." Shrugging, he would push himself back upright and resheated the weapon, hands patting over his clothing to rid himself of the snow.

Ailill squinted his eyes really tightly when Grindal mentioned scary movies, and when he spoke his voice was really low, as if he were embarrassed. "Actually.....I kind of avoid them all together..." He managed to laugh at himself after he admitted he was terrified of horror films. Though his cheeks were still slightly flushed, Ailill punched Grindal in the arm. When the man mentioned his father, A sighed slightly. "Sorry for you loss Grindal. I know he must have been a great man, because you are such a man." After patting his new friend on the back Ailill sat down on the bench they had been walking towards, and smiled at Grindal.
"My sister knows just about everything there is to being a Quincy, she even taught me everything I know. However, I am not so sure I want to go back and beg her to teach me anything else, because I was adamant when I left that I already knew enough. That and I told her she was a red-headed witch so....." Ailill died laughing at the memory of his sister;s face, and hoped Grindal would not think him a fool. He really did miss his family, and knew that if he did go back to train, it would be the perfect time for his daughter's to meet the rest of the family.
