APPEARANCE
PERSONALITY
Alill could be described as the typical pure blood Quincy, in that he believes Quincy are the supreme race, as far as the spiritual races go anyway. He was raised to believe that Hollow are to be destroyed, and that Shinigami will kill him on sight, so he hunts them both proactively. His urge to kill Hollows come stems from his hatred of them for killing his wife, while his thirst for Shinigami blood comes from his upbringing. He loves all Quincy as if they were his family, and will never turn one away, but will turn any other race away without a second thought. This goes spiritually aware humans as well, because he views them as "inferior."
Ailill is the first one into battle, and does his best to be in front of every attack the enemy throws at him, or his allies. Due to wielding a sword and shield, Ailill loves to be in the thick of battle, going blow for blow with the toughest of enemies, which, more often than not, leads to serious injury. It is because of these injuries that Ailill has begun to throw himself into the studies of healing. If he is not training his body, he is training his mind.
HISTORY
The story of Ailill Callaghan begins a little over two hundred years ago, when his family fled Germany. The Callaghans, known then as the Parkers, were a group of three sisters who were years twelve, fourteen, and sixteen years old. Because things had begun to get increasingly worse between not only between the Quincy and the Hollow, but between the Quincy and the Shinigami as well, the sisters' parents had sent them to live with the family of their most treasured maid. This maid's name was Ailis Callaghan, and she was the oldest daughter of the Callaghan family. When she fled Germany with her mistress' daughters she took them to the only place she knew they'd be safe; the home of her parents.
Ailis' parents gladly adopted the three girls, who had quickly grown to love the rolling glens of Ireland, and eventually each of them had their own family. Ailill's lineage traces back not only to the youngest of the Parker girls, but to their maid's youngest brother as well, because their children, who were not actually related, had fallen in love and married. Because they had been pure blooded Quincy, from the "mother land" as they had called it, the Parker sisters had all arranged for themselves to marry the sons of the Callaghan family, as they were pure blooded as well. Even though their parents had preferred for the Parker girls not to fight, they had all be trained to be master's of their Quincy talents, and as such, all of their children, and future grandchildren, were trained as well. This continued until Ailill when he was trained by his elder sister, rather than his parents.
While he began his training as an Archer Quincy, he quickly changed over to a variant style of Quincy training. Ailill had always been inspired by the Spartan soldiers, and through this inspiration he learned to form his "bow" into a sword and shield. Once he had done this he began to train independently from his sister, which was something he had never done. This is not to say that he did not continue his training with his sister, because she had not allowed him to quit before he was able to hold his own in a battle with her.
On his sixteenth birthday his older sister had declared his training complete, and allowed him to leave the family home permanently for the first time. It was at this time that he had decided to move out of Ireland, and to move to Japan. Though he had been obsessed with Spartans, he had also found himself in love with Japanese culture, mainly that of the Shinigami. He had been raised to hate them, and hate them he did, but he wanted to know more about them, to learn why it was that he hated them so much. Ailill had not told his family his reasoning for wanting to move to Tokyo, but had instead told them that he wanted to go to school there, and wanted to eventually live there outside of school.
It was during his school years that he would eventually meet his wife, who had been a half blood Quincy. They dated for many, many years, even during college when they lived on opposite ends of the island. After college, when they were able to settle down, they had three kids, each of which was trained as a Quincy the way they had been. It was not until his thirty fifth birthday that Ailill's life changed in a way he had not planned for; a hollow killed his wife. She had been on her way home when a hollow had attacked her because of her high spiritual energy, infecting her with Hollow Reiatsu, and eventually killing her.
He now lives with his children, and is trying his best to cope with the loss of his wife. In order to keep from breaking down, and sinking into depression, Ailill had thrown himself back into his training, harder than ever before, so that he can kill his wife's murderer.

QUINCY ITEMS Item Name: Hollow Bait Description: This item is a small, coin-shaped disk that attracts hollows when crushed. Item Name: Silver Tubes Description: Silver tubes are small, liquid-filled capsules that store spiritual energy, and are used by Quincy for spellcasting in the same way that Shinigami use Kidō. Like Kidō, they are activated by calling out various commands, but do not require any of the user's energy to activate. Item Name: Seele Dolch Description: A weak, short, but capable close combat dagger alloyed out of Soul Silver that should only be used in desperate times when a Quincy is forced into a range where they cannot function. The dagger is as sharp as a sealed Zanpakutou of a single rank below, and clashing twice or thrice with a Zanpakutou or Shikai is enough to break it. However, the sudden pull of this weapon has saved many Quincy. Item Name: Brand [Firebrand] Description: Another gauntlet, this time designed for use on the hand in which the bow is held. Again made of Soul-synthesized Silver, this gauntlet turns the gathered reishi that forms the bow and arrows of the Quincy from blue to fiery orange, giving it the property of flames. When an arrow strikes it's target while this gauntlet is active, it can cause serious burns in addition to it's usual effects. However, this comes with a price. Every time an arrow is fired, the hand the gauntlet is worn on is slowly subjected to burns itself, charring the flesh very slowly. For each normal arrow fired, the area equivalent to half an index finger is burned, meaning that by the time 15 arrows are fired via this method, the hand is useless and requires serious medical attention. The scale of the fire damage is dependent on the user's Reishi technqiue mastery, requiring an Above Average mastery in order to use the item. |
