The lights in the basement (or as Liam called it "The Quincy Cave") flickered on. Illuminating the Soul Silver alloy walls. It was late, late enough that any reasonable person would have gone to sleep long ago. Thankfully for Liam he was anything but reasonable when it came to his own improvement.
But at the same time, even he had to admit that he was taking quite the big risk. A necessary risk certainly. But a risk all the same. He didn't know the specific trial that the ritual would force upon. But he knew that if he succeeded he would gain power.
Power that he desperately needed. Power to stand up to those who would harm him or those he cared about. To stop those that would torment innocent humans for nothing more than their own sick amusement. However his intentions were not purely noble. A smaller, more petty part of him wanted the power for the sake of his own pride. To crush those who would look down on him and to fight evenly among even the most powerful beings in this world.
Inside his jacket pocket, the tube of the treated blood felt heavy. As if it was weighing him down with the sheer importance it carried to him. If this trial was successful for him. Liam reminded himself to thank Albert for sharing the knowledge of this ritual with him. The donation of the elder Quincy's pure blood was invaluable for him. Without it, this ritual would be impossible for him to even attempt.
Pulling out the tube, Liam opened the top and stared inside. The reishi-enriched liquid sat inside. Swirling ever so slightly as if it had a mind of its own. Thrumming with a subtle power that Liam could barely feel.
"Well.....Bottoms up." He told himself, raising the tube to his lips and swallowing the coppery liquid in one gulp.

Soon after he drank the liquid it wouldn't take long for the apparition to appear to him, the form is someone the boy may not know. This is meant to test all would be quincy that wanted to better themselves, some had died taking it... most had lived, but eventually like all things that wanted power it was necessary. Juha was sitting on a throne as it would appear to the boy, thrown in darkness as he looked up slowly.
"Well this should be quick. Are you ready to die? Or maybe... I should just leave you here, let you wallow and rot in self pity.. abandon you like so many others..."
A cheeky smile is worn on the face of the King of Sternritters, while he wasn't the actual thing he was.. a form of him. Meant to test ever able quincy so that they may rise and one day come to their senses.. able to fight back against the tyrany of the Shinigami that lorded over them ever so often. The spirit's head tilted for a moment.
"Maybe you will just do me a favor and crawl into a hole and die like your dirty whore of a mother.. you hated her right? Weren't those your last words to her?"
Then as if by magic the apparition opened its mouth and the same words that Liam spoke to his mother in his very voice rang out as the spirit repeated them, with a cruel smile on his face.
It would be safe to say that Liam was on guard as the new figure appeared. After all, the father of all Quincies was indeed an imposing being. Even though the version before him was simply the scrap of Yhwach's power that had been with Liam since his birth, his strength was still comparable to that of Alexander's. And that was nothing to sneeze at.
The words the manifestation chose were odd ones. It seems that this being in front of Liam was not one to mince words. Laying it on thick as soon as it appeared. But while the words did indeed sting, they were just so sudden, that they truly didn't strike him when he was vulnerable. He was already preparing himself mind, body and soul for this test. A few harsh words, even those from his own mouth would not be enough to shake his resolve. At least not for now.
"You're not one to mince words are you?" He asked of the spirit, a slightly uneasy smile on his face. He hadn't made any aggressive movements so far. And he would rather make this a contest of wit and will over power.
"I was just told I would be speaking to the source of my power and would have to prove myself worthy. I take it that is you." Stating the obvious surely, but Liam wanted to get introductions out of the way. It seems that Yhwach knew him, but not the other way around.

Well this one was an idiot, but of course this splinter of Juha knew that, he could see into his very soul, he knew everything that the boy knew and more. If wanted wanted this power he was going to have to think quick, and act quicker. Hmmm perhaps his parents weren't the best button to push again just yet.. something more frightening?
"Well you are right about one thing boy.. I am that power.."
Without warning the spirit would throw up his left hand and with ease fire a single quincy arrow directly at the boys forehead to block his view, it should have been a challenge to dodge, or at least enough to where his field of vision would be blocked for just a moment and that was all the spirit needed. Because in that blink of a second it changed.. Juha no longer stood in front of the boy but rather a shade, it's form shuttering, it was definitely female, decently thin and yet mature. As if constantly vibrating it would be hard to discern anything in the way of facial and specific body features. The voice that spoke from it was un etheral, it echoed from all sides of Liam as it spoke.
"Will this form be of use to me? What will it tell me about you boy? How weak and pathetic you are... Tell me what is your worst fear?"
There was a point to this, for one cannot face their fears.. if they cannot speak of it.
Even though his Blut activated almost on instinct, the force of the arrow was still enough to cause his head to jerk backwards. Losing sight of his target. Liam's battle instincts kicked in immediately. He was told that combat was a possibility of his test and losing sight of one's opponent could mean death.
In a flash of gathered Reishi, Liam's bow was formed and already pointing where the splinter of the Quincy Progenitor stood. Not hesitating for even a moment, Liam fired off a volley of arrows. Only for them to hit nothing but air. Yhwach didn't seem to want to stick around and had simply vanished into thin air as soon as Liam lost sight of him. Replaced by a strange flickering, female-shaped shade.
Something about the voice was familiar, disturbingly so. It lay just on the edge of his memory, teasing him with its' presence. But the question it posed him was an important one. What did Liam fear? Well most boys his age would fear petty things. Rejection from a pretty girl, bullying and failing a test.
Liam's deepest fears were similar, but on a bigger scale. Rejection of those he cared for, his own powerlessness and failing when it truly mattered in the end.
Of course the shard of Yhwach that had laid dormant in Liam's soul would already know this. He would also know that he was most likely going to receive a rather cheeky answer in return. "Spiders. Cant stand the things."
While such an answer was rather impudent considering who he was speaking to. The message Liam was sending to the source of his power was clear.
"Stop playing around and hit me with your best shot."
Liam needed this power more than anything else. It was time to dig down deep and show Yhwach what a mere mixed blood was capable of. So let the Lord of the Quincies unleash Liam's demons upon him. He would conquer them one by one and claim the power that lay within his soul.

The blurry female spirit chuckled in it's demonic voice for a moment before it disappeared in a poor of smoke. Out of nowhere Juha emerged from the left walking with a smile on his face.
"Well... that's more like it"
He said yet again he slung his bow up and fired off a burst of thirty quincy arrows at once right at Liam from ten yards away. The boy wanted a fight he would get a fight, but who said anything about fair. If he wanted a trial of strength and ability he would get it, but on Juha's terms. The gods never did make anything fair, and if it was something that he could help he would. So immediately as he slung his hand up and fired he began sprinting at full speed to the left, a slight smile on his face.
"If you survive this battle you may have this strength that I covet.. if you fail well.. you know."
The spirit spoke as he ran, making sure to keep very cose attention to everything about the boy. Any sudden moves or reactions... this was of course assuming he had stood there when Juha had launched his attack.
About time this stopped feeling like a trip to the therapist and more like an actual test. As soon as Yhwach appeared again, Liam was already on the move. His arm a blur as he whipped around and fired out a barrage of spirit arrows, intercepting his opponent's in mid-air.
Was he finally being taken seriously? If so, fantastic. There were few things that irked Liam more than being underestimated when he was supposed to be being tested. After all, how else was one to improve if they were not pushed to their limits?
Kicking off, Liam followed Yhwach, making sure to keep the source of his power in sight at all times. With one hand keeping his bow trained on his opponent, Liam's free hand palmed one of the many Ginto tubes he had prepared for this test.
Disappearing in a blur of Hirenkyaku, Liam would attempt to get closer to his opponent, hopefully close enough to make dodging his next move quite the trial.
"A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed - Gritz!" With a cry, the Ginto tube flew from his hand, unraveling into the mark that would be meant to entrap the Quincy Patriarch. It would either hit him and hold him in place. Or the he would be forced to dodge out of the way.
Either way, this was only the first part of Liam's attack. "Tachiban!" With another shout, Reishi would gather and condense into several glowing orbs. Each of them flying forth to strike Yhwach either just after he dodged the binding Ginto or as he made his way out of the spiritual prison.
{Spoiler}Name: Tachiban (Sentinel) Class: Reishi Tier: III Type: Offensive Range: 50 Meters Description: The user can create orbs of reishi and spread them around him. Bach watched, entertained that this boy thought that would work. Even if he talked as fast as his annoying mother before she died he wouldn't be able to get the incantation out in time to catch him. If the boy had the quincy stepping then so did he, so as the boy started reciting off that annoyingly long saying Juha already knew what was coming. But he waited.. waited until the last moment. As the tube left the boys hand however the spirit used stepping not to get away, but to get closer. So with use of ginto tube was wasted.. it hitting nothing but air.
Juha appeared behind the boy by about ten yards for a mere instant firing off three arrows and then moving back off into the quincy stepping, instantly after firing and would appear again to the boys left, close... only about three feet between them, as with all his speed he punched forward with his bow firing five arrows this time from point blank. Tracking him would have been impossible, so the boy had best learn to dodge quick.. or die. There was two outcomes of this trial and only one of them Liam walked away alive.
