Lisa stared at the sky as she laid there, the dust settling around her. She had only been in the Soul society for a few weeks and was already well acquainted with both the ground and the sky. She sat up slowly as the instructed commended the boy for his excellent foot work. The boy smiled as he gloated to the teacher. Lisa sighed to herself before noticing he had placed his foot oddly, as he was expecting the fight to be over. She smiled and pushed her hand out at the back of the boys knee. She performed the second hado she had learned, hado number 2 sending the boy to his knee as she stood up.
The other students whispered as the boy stood up. She smiled as she left her wooden sword on the ground where it had fallen. The teacher was about to comment when he noticed that she was whispering something under her breath. “Broiling black, fervent heat, be rejected!” she zapped the boys hands as he dropped his wooden sword. She hadn’t ever used that spell before, and was shocked by the outcome. She wondered what else the other kidous in the study book did. She would have to learn them for herself.
The boy growled and went to pick up the sword as the teacher stopped him and had him sit back down. “Lisa, you seem to have grown proficient in basic kidou use.” He smiled. “There is a special guest here in the academy today, he was going to stop by the class room, I was wondering if youd be interested in sparring him? Perhaps you can stand a better chance with your knowledge of kidou.” Lisa considered it for a moment and nodded, standing ready as she got ready to fight her new opponenent.

Ah, man. Ofcourse he was stuck with all this stuff of training some of the students. A command from the vice captain. Hell, even as a substitute shinigami, he couldn't bring up much arguments against it. It was all just a bother to him. He could've been home in the human world, probably waking up wih a sweet hangover right about now. But no, he had to instruct and train with some of the academy students, forcing him to spend the night in the soul society. He glanced down to his companion, Amaori Ichika. A shinigami that possibly even rivalled him in strength. Now that he thought about it, they never fought before. Nor that he did care, he wasn't one of the guys that would taunt or goad someone into a fight. If Amaori wished to test her strength against him, all she had to do was ask. "Ya got any idea as to why vice caipt'n Iba-san'd be sendin' us, outta all people, out, Ichika-san?" He asked his companion.
He held his armored hand up as they approached and entered the field. "Raiden Saitou. Human representative of squad seven." He called out as he was within sight and hearing range of the group of students and their tutor. He didn't know why he of all people was selected to assist in the training? Maybe seventh division wanted to reinforce their ties with the academy or some shit? Hell, he didn't know how it all worked. Nor did he care.
It was well known throughout the squad that Ichika would absolutely refuse going to the human world for any assignment whatsoever. She didn't have much problem talking to people from the human world, proving her problem wasn't with humans in general. Compared to going there, doing assignments with the Substitute Shinigami representative wasn't something she'd reject. When the Vice-Captain Iba Tetsuzaemon came up to her with the assignment, she simply regarded it as work and accepted. While she often argued that her credentials are lower than what some people believed, she could remember her own days in the Academy where real Shinigami would come and help the instructors (which was really needed sometimes considering the number of students an instructor had to supervise).
The young adult tried to strike up speculative talk. She responded honestly: "I don't know why they sent someone of Saitou-san's status since this is usually left to the lower ranks like me, but some classes are just too large to supervise alone. I might just be here to make sure the culture of Soul Society and the Human World doesn't clash too hard."
The lifestyle in Soul Society and the lifestyle in the Human World is vastly different. She was made aware of the difference from the few times she did happen to step through the Senkaimon and into that place.
Arriving on the training grounds, the first thing she noted was that they weren't in any of the facilities dedicated to the Zankensouki. That meant they were working on general sparring. She didn't mind, but she was a bit worried since she wasn't sure if Raiden was the kind of man who would hold back. Wait, what if he was here to learn that?
No, that didn't sound right. He was a representative, meaning he at least made the bare minimum requirement to be a role model. In here he is Human, but out there he is Shinigami. There shouldn't be any problems.
Putting her speculative thoughts aside, Ichika just followed up on Raiden's introduction. I'm Amaori Ichika, also from the Seventh Division. We will be helping out today, so please take care of us." She bowed lightly to pay respect to the teacher.
The teacher smiled as he turned to speak to the Shinigami as they entered. He bowed respectfully as did the rest of the class, with Lisa standing there awkwardly until she dropped her guard and too bowed. The teacher stood up and walked over and offered a hand shake to both of the new arrivals. After that he would turn to the class and introduce them to their new temporary teacher. “Students, I am pleased to introduce you to the Substitute Shinigami representative Raiden Saitou, and Amaori Ichika. These two come to use from the 7ths division to show you the best way of sparrign someone who is more powerful then you are.”
Lisa couldn’t help but blush as she saw Raiden. There he was, the man who had saved her from the first hollow she had ever met. She had hoped to see him again, but she couldn’t believe it had happened so quickly. She had a slight gasp as she wondered how she looked. She then noticed the other girl near him, and couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous that she got to be in the same squad as Raiden. She blushed more before turning away to compose herself, acting as if she was fixing part of her uniform. The teacher turned to her. “So, youll be fighting Raiden today. Remember, this fight isn’t about winning, Its about finding ways to work around someone with higher skill levels.”
She nodded as she got her zanpakuto from where it was. The teacher didn’t allow first year students to duel each other with real swords, but she knew he would allow her to use her sword this time. As she made her way to the arena she would wait till Raiden had joined her before bowing deeply, taking in a deep breath. She drew her Zanpakuto and did her best to stand ready. But she was still unsure around her sword, and found it awkward in her hands. “Im ready when you are.”

"My status? Heh." He huffed slowly. "To me, y'ain't more or less than me." Position. Status, all things he didn't give a fuck about. In his eyes, he was as much worth as any unranked squad member. As far as the substitute shinigami was concerned, he wasn't greater or more important than anyone. "Probably," he said in agreement upon Amaori's sentiment. It was a possibility that she was there for reasons of cultural. Or even political manners. Stuff that went above his head and stuff he didn't really care about.
He shook the teacher's hand, glancing towards his squadmate. Her thoughts were unknown to him. Naturally. But, he wondered just what she was thinking. She was one of those people that barely betrayed their thoughts or motives. He tried to keep the people in his squad close to him. Trying to know them. Try to befriend them. They were brothers, and sisters, in arms. But the small woman standing next to him right now? He knew barely anything about her. Then again, this wasn't just a friendly trip to get to know eachother, no, this was work. Not difficult work, nothing that would have either one risk their lives. But still, work.
The belt around his waist loosened as he stepped forward, the tip of the needlessly large zanpakutou sliding into the ground and standing there. Hebikiba would still be taller than Amaori, or Lisa for that matter. He started with loosening the straps of the steel armour that clad his left arm. The heavy metal clunking against the floor, followed by the metal gauntlet. Revealing his bandaged left arm. His left shoulder unclad, the Shihakushō being slightly adapted. Only having one sleeve to cover his right arm. His left arm and part of his left thorax only covered by bandages. He knew the girl from somewhere. Seen her before. He shrugged it off. "Ready," he replied in response. It wasn't like this girl would be even able to scratch him, despite Kidou, despite she being armed and Raiden having just completely disarmed himself. It was impossible for her to put a scratch on him. But, he was told to assist in sparring and so he would. Though, playing purely on the defenses with some easy Judo strikes. He wasn't going to beat the shit out of an academy student that could barely hold a sword.
{OOC Note}Do not be confused, Raiden only wears armour around his left arm. This armour is made to catch the drawback of tier V punches he can deal with the gauntlet. This is now deactivated by him taking it off.
The reason Raiden knew little about Ichika (and Ichika little about Raiden) was very simple: Coincidence. Raiden simply did not happen to see Ichika often, so while they recognized each other, they've only met three to four times at best (not including this assignment). Also, she was trying to keep a low profile. Few even remember she was the 20th seat. Well, there was the roster, but nobody checks that on a regular basis.
Moving aside to make space, she looked at the student who was going to face her colleague: A young girl in her early teens, sporting the red and white that was the Shinoreijutsuin uniform. Neither appeared to be intimidated, which was a good sign. She also seemed to possess a greater spiritual pressure than most of the other students, so Ichika assumed that she was the most exemplary student. Leaning slightly to the side, she whispered to the instructor she was standing next to and confirmed her suspicions. Generally she'd back away into the crowd at this point to give the students a better view, but she also had the duty of stopping the fight if Raiden got too heavy-handed.
Silently observing, she waited for the instructor to signal the start of the match.
The teacher smiled as he watched lisa get into position, and watched as her opponent disarmed himself. Lisa wasn’t the best fighter, but of all his students she was the most likely to find a way past a enemies weak spot. Its why he chose her to fight against raiden today. It why he chose her to demonstrate how to fight smart. As the other girl leaned in to speak to him he would nod. “She isn’t the best at sword play, or even hand to hand. But what she has above the others ia a different way of thinking. Follow her eyes and you can almost see her thought process.” He would whisper to her as they sat down to watch.
Lisa watched her opponents body. She was a lot smaller then him, and a lot younger. But she couldn’t help but notice his beautiful face for a moment. She smiled to herself as she noticed his delicate beautiful features. But soon she refocused and looked around. She noticed he had left his weapons and armor alone and on the ground next to him. As she waited for the fight to start she positioned herself so that the mans gauntlet was behind him and his sword in front of him. She knew her kidou was good for an academy student. But she was fighting someone leagues above her own status.
She readied herself as the teacher yelled begin. Using her position, Lisa would step back, putting as much distance between herself and her opponent as the arena would allow. This was the crustial moment. Testing the opponent and finding their weak points. she started by using a few basic kidou in an un orthodox way. She stringed them together and with some effort she managed to cast all three together. “Pierce through the enemy and Draw them to me sp that they may Begone from me!” it was awkward roughly put together, but it would work.
She would hold up both hands and out of one a blast of fiary energy would shoot out and slam against the enemy like a shotgun blast as she tugged on the opponents gauntlet, pulling it into th back of the opponents knee. From there she would push out with her free hand and use the push kidou to try to knock them in the chest while their knee was hit by the gauntlet. If her move worked she would take the opponents distraction and rush forward as they fell back. She would draw close to his sword, only to back off from the energy coming off of it. It nearly made her pass out as she barely stayed standing. What was that? What had she just felt?
It was in that moment that she caught a glimpse of something in her mind. It was like a massive star scape and she shook her head clearing the strange image from her head. She got ready to defend. And hoped she had managed to do at least some damage.

"Kidou, eh?" He said as his foe started to incant not one, not two, but up to three Kidou at the same time. Though they were relativly low leveled. He folded his arms, the Kidou smacking into his chest, dissipating. Not causing any harm or stagger to him. He sighed slowly as he lifted his foot, stomping it down on the armor that meant to slam at the back of his knee, forcing it to a full stop. "Smart. Though. Predictable." He said, arching an eyebrow as Lisa drew near to Hebikiba, he immediatly appeared at the blade, stepping forward, putting an arm around her waist and taking a few steps forward, to put her down again, unharmed. "Bad idea to touch the sword." He smirked as he took several steps back.
"Come on." He said, holding his arms up in a rather defensive hand to hand pose. "Give it everything you got," another smirk formed on his lips. It wasn't a possibility for Lisa to win, nor was he gaining anything in defeating her. It would prove good training for the smaller shinigami. He wasn't going to make any jabs at her. Mere pokes to indicate the holes in her offense or defense, all the while keeping untouched, it would be interesting training for him aswell.

Ichika listened to the instructor's words. Hold on, if one could see her thought processes by following her eyes, wouldn't she be a bit too predictable in a higher level fight? Still, she was still just a new student, so Ichika waited to see what this Lisa (Ichika confirmed her name with the instructor) would come up with.
Following the hint, Ichika watched Lisa's eyes... on Raiden's gauntlet. The first exchange then went as the instructor had hinted. Using an enemy's armaments against him? Generally, it's not considered a sound strategy among Shinigami because one is unable to release another's Zanpakuto. As long as the opponent was disarmed, it was generally perceived as enough. Also, attempting to utilize tools one had no experience with was a bad idea.
Facing an impossible battle often gave people ideas for improvement. She knew it because she herself had taken the same class in her Academy days. Even when fighting someone weaker, Ichika found areas for her own improvement.
Lisa's idea in itself could be applauded to some extent, though all Raiden really had to do was just kick that gauntlet to the girl's head and she'd have fallen. Fortunately, that would be a little bit overkill, so Raiden simply stopped it instead with a stomp. Ichika would keep Lisa's idea of remotely manipulating an opponent's tools in mind for future use.
When Raiden put up a defensive stance, Ichika noted to herself that the next display was inevitably going to involve Ichika having to go on the offensive. This would have her worrying inwardly as she tried to run through her repertoire of usable attacks.
Lisa nearly fell as he let her go a safe distance from his sword. She hadn’t been expecting his speed, or his embrace. She nearly fell there from just her nerves at his touch. But he stood her ground. As she did she took in the scene again and noted where everything was. There were a few things she could do, but she knew none of them would be viable. If she ran from the arena, she would only prove herself to be a coward. And she couldn’t do that with this man. She had to much respect for him, even though she barely knew him. The teacher turned to Ichika, his lips in a slight smile. “Shes realizing it. That even though theres a thousand ways she could attack him. Theres nothing she could do to him. She just cant compete with his raw power.”
Lisa Stood there for a moment, before simply sitting on her knees. She had lost, And even if she tried to run, he could catch her. There was nothing you can do against a better opponent. Not when the gap was this big. The teacher stood an announced the end of the fight and after a moment the class was dismissed. But he ahd Lisa stay behind to speak with the two guests. He asked her what she had learned and lisa thought about it for a moment. “I learned that there ius a time to fight an opponent…and a time to sit down.” She said. “He had me beat in every way, there was no way I could beat him on my own.”

He arched an eyebrow as he stood ready for the student, he had halfly expected another ploy that would prove cunning and well thought out. Yet, it'd be meaningless. It would quite literally bump and ricochet off of him. No, instead, the child sat down on her knees. Some unspoken form of submission, admitting her defeat. He nodded slowly as the teacher stated the match had ended. He slightly pitied the smaller girl. Ofcourse, he was more powerful, yet, she hadn't recieved the chance to prove herself in terms of physical prowess. This would've proven for valuable and unique training. Even though Raiden was far ahead of her, it didn't take anything but guts to impress him. He bowed his head respectfully to Lisa and turned around, picking up his armour and walking over to his sword, strapping the steel back around his arm.
He pulled the large blade on his back again, the belt fasting on its own. He approached the pair, teacher and student. "A pity I couldn't see ya in action, though." He said thoughtfully after Lisa made her conclusion. "'N sometimes, there ain't even a chance to sit down. It won't be that easy." He said, with a gentle smile. "Ya can avoid a blow, yet, evadin' alone won't beat yer foe. Sometimes, even when y'ain't got a chance, you gotta start strikin'." He rubbed the back of his neck. "But, yeah. I shouldn' try bein' a man o' great wisdom 'ere 'n lecture ya. I ain't half smart enough to be doin' that." He smirked slightly.

Lisa just broke down in defeat. Well, Ichika couldn't expect much of a new student, no matter how promising. Ichika just sunk into thought while the class dispersed.
There were a few words from the teacher and the substitute shinigami (Ichika hadn't paid attention to the student's words, which were almost far too easily guessable by her posture and facial expression alone). Then, Ichika decided on what she wanted to say and raised her face.
"You know, it might feel a bit strange to talk about things one could do but wouldn't, but I think Lisa really just missed a few good opportunities to strike. For example, when Lisa got close to Saitou-san's sword and got carried away. That would've been a perfect moment, but quite foul play. Then again, does one expect to defeat another who is realms and bounds above themselves fighting fairly?
If you want a tamer example, charging in when Raiden was distracted stopping his gauntlet that you sent flying at him could pressure him. I suppose you could run and hide in an actual fight, but only if you're good enough at suppressing your spiritual pressure, which you will learn soon enough, judging by your progress." Ichika suppressed the urge to squint at Lisa when she said so. Executing Kidō so early was a sign of good control over one's power.
"It might feel a bit hypocritical considering this advice goes towards myself, but you need to learn to keep an eye out for opportunities and stop hesitating, especially in a fight. Now, I think I should take my leave. Saitou-san, I'll go fill the paperwork. See you back in the barracks." Turning, she walked towards the exit but halted after a few steps, glancing back. "Oh, right. About that 'stop hesitating' thing, it also applies to love."
Winking at Lisa, she turned and continued walking out of the field. She had clearly noticed Lisa's reaction when Raiden carried her away. She wasn't sure how it would turn out, but love wasn't anything she should be intruding on.

Lisa blushed badly as the girl spoke to her. She had said a lot of things but the last thing about hesitating about love made lisa blush like a mad man. Soon the class would be empty, and it would be just her and Raiden. If he went to leave she would follow him. “Wait!” She ran up to him. “um….” She looked down before back up at him. She had never asked this of someone before. “Can you…Take me to the human world with you? I want to Hunt Hollows with you.” She said. She tried to look determined, with her young face and delicate features it was hard. But if He could do it, she could do it too. As she looked at him, her zanpakuto at her side. She actually looked like a proper Shinigami, dispite the academy colors she wore.
“Please, I want to learn how you did, out there in the field. Ill stay out of your way. I promise.” She said with a smile at Raiden, Hopefully her cute look would get her her way. It tended to work on others even those who wouldn’t normally find her cute. She battered her puppy dog eyes just to be sure.

He looked between the two small females. What were they speaking off. Love? He couldn't figure it out, staring blankly at Ichika, as she was already heading back to the barracks. "Uhm.. Alright?" He said with a dumb-founded look on his face. He shrugged it off, raising his hand towards Ichika as she left, waving. "Alright! Thanks fer' taggin' along, Ichika!" He yelled with a cheerful tone as he waved her out. Accidentally forgetting to add her honorific. He turned back to Lisa. "Well. I'm guessin' I gotta go 'swell. Good work. Keep it up 'n make yer teacher proud." He said as he turned around, starting to leave aswell.
Yet, he was stopped in his tracks, looking back and turning fully to the girl as she ran towards him. "What.." He murmured slowly as she portrayed her desire to fight alongside him. Throwing more arguments at him. He crouched down infront of Lisa. "I can't. 'N I won't be doin' that either." He sighed slowly. "Y'ain't graduated from shinicademy yet. You'll get into the way 'n I won't forgive m'self is summin' bad happens to ya." He said, holding his arm out. "There're things even mo' powerful than me." Raiden peeled the skin of his right arm back, revealing the radiant blue ice. "Arrancar. Tore m'arm off. Punched me 'round." A gentle smile followed as he put his hand on her head. "You'll get stronger, don't worry." He said with a smirk at her puppy face. "'N don't try that one either. Won't work. I got a li'l sister and hers is even mo' dangerous than yours. 'N it rarely works."
