I'm making this thread as sort of a discussion continuation of the tangent that occured in This Thread about plot moving forward.
From my understanding, the issue stems from the unfortunately large number of very high level characters in the board. Now, I don't know the specific numbers, but I agree that there are quite a few high powered characters and it can be a little disheartening to newer members.
Personally, I don't have an answer to how we can stop the manufacturing of very powerful characters, it almost seems like after a site is open long enough it becomes a for gone conclusion that there will be a bit of a build up.
A few options to look at from my perspective that may slow or even out the playing field:
1) Stop giving out HL+ boxes. This is a pretty standard box set, which may be one of the reasons we have so many characters floating in the higher levels. Maybe offer a 'rank up criteria' box instead, to allow for easier rank ups by lowering the criteria needed to rank up (instead of 75 posts, they need 50 posts to get to HL). I may put this in the 'Box Ideas' thread as well.
2) Account limiting, which I already think is a thing, but basically putting an account cap of HL on a controlling account so that they can only have one character above HL. If they want one of their other characters to rank up, they either have to kill off their current HL, or get a box that allows them to have a second >HL character (to clarify, it would be a box that says 'you are allowed another HL-A+ character' not an automatic HL-A+ character like I described above).
3) An Ultimatum style plot, which for those not following marvel's ultimate universe comic series, is basically a culling of the herd. A plot where a large number of high level characters meet their ultimate end. It would obviously have to be voluntary, and some prize or reward of some kind would need to be forwarded, but I don't think we should be throwing out points or Rank up boxes for this, because that just exacerbates the problem we would be hoping to solve. Maybe interesting items or access to otherwise banned/highly limited powers or masteries.
