It was the pungent smell of car gas and humidity that somehow kept Sebastian's groggy person awake. He had spent a long night previous doing extensive research on the nature of reishi particles and how they can be manipulated for various purposes. A lengthy night of keeping his Fullbring released in order to grasp exactly how these particles could be tampered with in order to suit a variety of purposes left him sleepy. Though, he had a long day of work ahead of him. Aside from doing his own personal research, his job was research based as well, and he was put on assignment to find books related to medicine, specifically on cells and cancer. Interestingly enough, Sebastian was quick to try and discover a way to link the physical concept of cells and cancer to the spiritual concept of reishi.
Walking down a busy street, floral print tie flowing in the wind, thoughts of how to bridge the gap between the physical world and the spiritual world occupied his mind. The sun beamed down piercing through intricately shaped clouds, creating a mosaic of sorts of shadows and light. It was one of those instances where nature decided to paint the earth with a work of art.
"Maybe, reishi can be manipulated to replace cells. That way, amputees would be able to grow entirely new limbs. It can be utilized to stunt the rapid generation of cells that eventually develops into cancer."
It seemed as though Sebastian had reached a minor breakthrough. However, further investigation would have to be done in order to figure out how to exactly graft reishi particles onto a human being. He continued walking, hand lightly placed on the back of his head, softly scratching it as he made his way down an especially busy intersection. The local library just across.
"There are humans who don't have spiritual energy, trying to force their bodies to integrate reishi into their system might have a counteractive response and further debilitate them. But, maybe if you slowly introduce reishi into their system and give them time to integrate it... Then they'll be able to more readily replace cells and eventually limbs."
It seemed as though Sebastian had come to a minor discovery, however he needed more knowledge of how biology operated in order for him to effectively bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical world in the realm of science. However, mind was working faster than his body was... But not in the current, present place he was in right now. He continued walking, paying no attention to the hysteric traffic zooming back and forth. As he crossed, the loud, blaring sound of an SUV shook him out of his science-induced mental stasis. His head shook rapidly as his attention came upon the huge vehicle only but a few seconds away from slamming into him. He made a dive forward the car just barely missing him as it continued to honk wildly down the street. He rolled forward onto the sidewalk.
Sebastian sat up, hair now even messier than it was usually. There were onlookers staring at him as if he was some kind of circus freak.
"Welp. I need to pay attention next time..."
He stood up, patting himself down and dusting himself off.
Sebastian continued into the library, a massive, modern library with two floors. He perused the establishment, looking for the medicine section. Stumbling upon it far away from the entrance, he continued up the aisle. He ran his fingers across the backs of the books, searching for anything related to cells and cancer research. He stopped halfway when he found a book entitled "The Biology of Cancer," it piqued his interest as his eyes widened slightly. He pulled the book off the shelf, reading it casually.
"Tumor suppressor genes are also involved in controlling cell growth and division." A section of the book read. "Cells with certain alterations in tumor suppressor genes may divide in an uncontrolled manner."
"I see. So tumor suppressor genes are the driving force behind regulating cell growth and division. Its failure leads to the eventual development of cancer. If reishi is injected into those genes, they can be strengthened..."
Sebastian continued reading, face dug into the book, deeply focused on the nature of the human body, attempting to conjure up a means of bridging the physical world and the spiritual word. He knew there was a way. He just needed to get over the hurdle of ignorance.
