Nightfall. The moon out in its full glory. Several stars out in the black, nocturnal night. Drizzling pathetically. The bount took a sigh, ontop of one of Naruki's skyscrapers. On her left hand, a murderer. Held down to the floor by a hand that seemed to of pure shadows, constricting him. His face hidden by a brown burlap sack. Tenshi sighed slowly. This was the thing she hated most. Killing. She gazed out over the city. Yet, this city never slept. It merely took a nap. Slumbered once in a while, but there was always someone awake. She sighed slowly once more.
It was going to be trouble. This man was under heavy police surveillance. Not as the murderer, but as a vital witness. Little did they know that the serial murderer. The rapist they were chasing was none other then this psycopath. Then again, she snatched the man from his home. He was already once convicted. Had one of those electronic anklebracelets. But the vigilante didn't know that. Her nose wiggled slightly. She could smell a scent. Someone. Something that possessed a spiritual energy. Coincidence? Or was it someone that came looking for this pathetic piece of filth? Was it someone that looked for answers?
She'd await whomever'd come up here, her determination resolute. This man was going to die. He had already ruined enough lives. The police did nothing and were mucking things up.
Olive shuddered. For some God forsaken reason, she seemed to be getting all the weird or strange cases. Like it was the X Files or something like that. She flicked through the files as Yudai smoothly handled their car towards the co-ordinates where their guy was. The thing was, there was no sign of a struggle, no sign that there was anything untoward going on. Maybe he'd just run away- he was on parole, after all. The satnav was directing them to the Futsuba Tower, a skyscraper in the city's entertainment business. Their quarry had been a key witness in a serial killing case that had gone to trial the day before, and his disappearance now was somewhat suspect and also worrying for both the defending and prosecuting lawyers.
They didn't think he'd been abducted because there was no recorded gang presence. As such, only Olive and Yudai were strapped up, ready to follow the homing beacon and bring this guy back in. Yudai pulled up outside the building, in a taxi rank, but leaving the lights on to signify police presence. The two got out of the car, slamming the doors behind them, and Yudai unprofessionally vaulting the bonnet in order to walk briskly towards the entrance of Futsuba.
"I don't like this. This is weird." Olive said with a frown. Yudai looked at her, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"You're the one with the bullshit detector. Wanna call in?" He asked, severely. She looked at him and shook her head, pursing her lips and looking up the tower as they ascended the last step to the doorway.
"Let's have a look."
"If we call in, either we call in now or it's too late." Yudai said simply- she knew he was right but decided against calling for backup. There seemed to be no signs of struggle in the building. How on earth they would find who they needed to find was a mystery to Olive. They stepped inside out of the rain, and saw that nothing was out of the ordinary. The receptionist looked up at them inquisitively, probably not used to visitors at this late hour.
After several moments of kerfuffle, showing badges, affirming identities, working out if the perp had somehow slipped past her or used an alternative entrance, they were on their way, following the signal up to the top of the tower. They climbed a few flights of stairs before Yudai had the bright idea to take a lift and simply recall which floor that the indicator pointed downwards instead of upwards... But it didn't They exited the lift at the top floor which was being used as storage. They looked around, wondering how he could still be above them, before noticing the staircase that still had a set of steps that went upwards.
Olive and Yudai withdrew their guns, and proceeded cautiously, climbing the stairs and opening the door onto the rainy rooftop, their weapons out.
"Masuko Shinjito, you're under arrest fo-" she cut off halfway. The person standing before them wasn't Masuko, the witness in question. It was someone Olive didn't recognise at all. She held her gun up, surveying the scene.

It seemed like a mere teenager that was stood before them. A man captured by what seemed to be held a spectral, black hand. She glanced over her shoulder with a sigh. "The police at last." She said. "Please. Your bullets cannot hurt me." The teenager turned around, pulling a large, tied envelope from the long crimson coat she was wearing. "This man is your murderer." The envelope smacked down on the roof, in the rain. "Open it. See this bastard's crimes. Enough proof." She said as she nodded down at the floor. The rain seemed to beat down harder now, a bolt of lightning lighting up the nocturnal sky.
"Is this your justice? A man locked for several years. To be let free into civilisation?" She asked, contempt readable from her face. "To resume their killing?" She shook her head. Turning around again, sighing. "And I hate to do this.." She murmured to herself. But someone has to. Someone has to keep order in this city, the police department was doing their job. And it wasn't enough. Killers still roamed the street. She was merely there to end them. Put a halt to the murder. Through more bloodshed. She gripped the man's collar, the shadows around him slowly dissipating. She glanced over her shoulder towards the two officers, before throwing their witness, the actual murderer over the edge of the enourmous skyscraper.
The two officers stood, slightly bemused, their guns trained on this unknown girl. They noticed the strange hand, and looked at each other, alarmed. They had no idea what was going on. This seemed to be some kind of vigilante justice-seeker, from first appearances. Their bullets couldn't hurt, eh? Ordinarily Olive might have discarded this as merely bravado, but something about this girl's conviction made her think twice. Yudai, however, sensed no such issue, his brow furrowed.
"That's all well and good but you can't just go around kidnapping witnesses, so either step away from Masuko and no-one has to get hurt." Yudai said, his gun still trained at this girl, who seemed really rather extraordinary. She did not step away, however, and continued on her monologue. Olive knew she was about to do something, and stepped forward, just as the witness was inexplicably thrown over the edge.
They stared, wide-eyed at the girl, knowing there was nothing more they could do for the man, the envelope between them now covered in dark patches where the rain had splattered it. Olive clicked back the safety on her gun, now weary, as Yudai stood in stunned silence.
"You misinterpret justice." Olive said, staunchly and she was right. Justice was what was decided upon within a court of law, when the innocent were innocent until proven guilty and proof of guilt had to be beyond reasonable doubt. There always had to be a balance of letting some guilty people go to avoid locking away some innocent, and obstructing the course of justice in this way... It was not only illegal but in Olive's eyes, immoral.
"You're under arrest for murder, obstruction of justice, and failure to comply to police demands." Olive said, staring at this strange girl.
"Do I?" She glanced over her shoulder. "Or do you? Did any of this man's victims get a fair trial? An investigation?" She shook her head. "It is sad." She took several steps forward, closer to the edge of the building, her toes being just over the edge. "Sad that what society has come to be. Sad that these people are allowed freedom." Black wings assimilated and unfolded from her back. As if out of thin air, stretching majestically. The black energy forming some form of feathery texture that would resemble an angel's wings closely. "Sad that I am the one having to do this."
She snickered slowly. "Rather than wasting your time here, you'd be better off patrolling the streets, you're sevenhundred years and a thousand twohundred and fifty nine murders too late to apprehend me, officer. This is justice in its purest form. An eye for an eye." She looked down on the streets of Naruki city. "And one day. I will pay for my crimes." She turned back to the two officers, the wings slowly folding on her back, her heels over the edge of the building. "But that day is not today." She said, followed by a deep and lamenting sigh. "My apologies, officers. Our conversation runs to an end." She crossed her arms over her chest and fell backwards from the building, to only soar above the building and fly away at stunning speeds, dissappearing into the nocturnal sky.
They stood in stunned silence, not sure if what they'd seen was real or not. But they had both seen it- they both stood there, blinking in the rain. Yudai buzzed his radio to let the office know things hadn't gone according to plan, as Olive simply stood watching the silhouette of the girl get gradually fainter. She picked up the envelope with a pair of gloves and shoved it into a clear plastic bag for evidence. She had no idea what the protocol was now. This guy Masuko- he'd been their witness. But supposedly, he was the true culprit. Olive knew that it didn't really matter- he wouldn't have been put to death and now they didn't have evidence in court that the defendant was innocent, and so he would be wrongfully jailed. It made her want to scream with frustration.
"Jesus, not only was she a bitch, but a complete fucking retard." Yudai said to Olive, clearly sharing her line of thoughts. He looked about as aggravated as she felt. "Welp, this isn't exactly anything that'll be admissible in court now, is it? God I can't stand so-called vigilante justice." he said motioning at the plastic bag swinging impotently in Olive's hand. She nodded wistfully, and told her partner that they should probably just go back inside. Yudai nodded, but not before giving her a shrewd look. "I got the whole thing on my pen camera, by the way." he told her with a smile. Olive brightened up at this- she'd been worrying about the implications for her and her partner, but the knowledge of a recording of the events was comforting.
"Jesus I'm glad- I didn't want to get pulled into this too." she said with as much of a smile as she could muster, before they descended back into the relative warmth of the building below.
