"Still. It's the principle, y'know." Raiden rubbed the back of his neck, sighing slowly. "I'll kick their ass. Plain and simple." He really came across as fucking stupid, talking like this. He didn't really put much thought into it, being honest. Raiden shrugged slowly, letting out a bitter chuckle. "No worries, it's nice bein' told I'm important. Once in a while. Besides, why do I have this strength? Serve the Seireitei, no question. But also protect those dear to me. If I fail to protect 'em. Why would I even fight?" The substitute shinigami let out another bitter chuckle. "But, yeah. Those aren't really things important right now."
He rolled his shoulders, nodding slowly. "That's awfully kind of you." He said with a bitter grin. "Another great way of makin' me feel incompetent." Well. That stung. It was the cold and harsh truth. He couldn't even make any arguments against it. Just a plain old fact. This woman was more powerful than him. Shikai. Bankai. He couldn't even scratch her if he tried.
And, it just reminded him there were things far more powerful than him. Things that could instantly kill him without breaking a sweat. Fryst being a prime exemple. Plain and simple asskicking wouldn't suffice here.
Raiden pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind, "I'm ready," he raised his hand, "carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six. Rikujōkōrō!" Light appeared around Blod, but, it soon dissipated, leaving any of the effects to be desired.
And, after only a solemn few tries, he managed to produce something that remotly came close to it.

She laughed, airily. There was nothing she could or would say to try and save Raiden's feelings- hey she'd been in his shoes once. That felt like some time ago now, however. No, instead she let it sink in that sometimes, Raiden would be totally unable to neutralize the threat. He already seemed to be recalling a time when he had been outmatched. Blod wondered if it had any similarities to her. A rising star in the kidoshu, kidnapped by an arrancar, saved only by the enemies of soul society. It had marked the beginning of the brief period in her life where she bent the rules, and toed the line of what was acceptable for a shinigami, that selfsame period which had ended abruptly upon her ascension to Fuku-kidocho and had meant that she did not waiver from the rules.
"Stop rushing the incantation," she admonished, "If you haven't focused the spell and you need to cast it then it won't work. Besides you kind of need to also state the number and type of the kido. That's how they work." she finished. That was not necessarily always the case. Blodeuwen's bankai was a loophole through which that could be avoided and she knew that if she ever had to fight another shinigami, not having to call out the names of her attacks would be a great boon.
"Again." she said, dispelling the final traces of his kido with her reiatsu.
Raiden nodded slowly, running the back of his hand across his forehead. A deep breath. A soft sigh. "Sorry," was all he could muster for excusing his mistake. Another deep breath and he straightened his back, raising his shoulders to his same lumbering and prideful pose. The polished metal of his armoured left arm giving a soft sheen in the sunlight. "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six. Bakudo no Rokujūichi, Rikujōkōrō!" He called out loudly. The yellow energy charging and slamming into Blod's Blod's torso from six different angles around her.
While he knew it couldn't hurt her or even keep her in place, a soft smirk came across his face. The feeling of achievement. Frustration was just gone as he just learned the new spell. Along with several others. He slicked his hair back with the same soft smirk, looking at Blod. "How'd I do, sensei?" He inquired as the smirk turned somewhat more teasing. Emphasis on the 'sensei'. He wasn't sure how Blodeuwen would react to it. He sure as hell just hoped she wouldn't insist on calling her that.

Blodeuwen raised her eyebrow, having just worked out that she didn't even need to brace herself for it. She focused intently on Raiden, watching his every motion, listening intently to his pronounciation. An almost perfect execution. She was a little proud. She snapped the kido off as if it were made of paper, smiling at Raiden, her demonstration of her strength all she needed to do to remind him that his cheek had not quite yet been earned. But she didn't mean to admonish him and smiled prettily as she closed the gap between them. She had just seen a Jigokucho fluttering impatiently behind the substitute shinigami's left ear. She was wanted, it seemed.
"You did just fine, Raiden." she told him, picking up the things she had placed on the ground as they had trained, returning her hair to its normal style and tying her robes to be not quite so restrictive. The butterfly flapped over- a message from the new Soshi!? She was astonished. "I would love to stay and teach you some more but I've been called away." she told him, her eyes misted over with curiosity. "Is there anything else you need before I leave? That should be enough to keep you going for a little while. Practice makes perfect after all." didn't she know it. "I'm sure I'll see you around, if not." she smiled, gingerly fingering her zanpakuto. Up until now there hadn't even been a soshi- she was nervous if she was about to be punished for abusing her rank though she had done only what she felt she must to keep the Kido Corps a functioning, happy, healthy unit. Blodeuwen could not anticipate the news awaiting her that would mean that she was unlikely to see Raiden around for a good long while.

Her negating the kidou like it was nothing didn't even matter to the substitute shinigami. He had achieved something today. He sucked at Kidou, yet managed to learna couple of new tricks that'd sustain him in combat. That was enough for him, actually harming someone wasn't far off if he had the means to do so. That and Blodeuwen was a lot stronger than him. So, it was natural he couldn't hurt her, even if he wanted to. He glanced over his shoulder to see the black butterfly flitting behind him and arched an eyebrow. It wasn't for him, that much was obvious.
He fell into step next to Blod and nodded. "Thanks, ya really helped me out 'ere," he said with a warm smile. "But, I won't hog any more o' yer time," nodding with the same soft smile still. "I'll look forward to meetin' again," he answered as he adjusted the enormous blade strapped to his shoulder. "Stay safe," he said with a casual wave, before he dissappeared from sight with a shunpo, appearing several meters away from her for a split second, before dissappearing once more. He had to report in to Komamura. The captain always did seem to like when Raiden came reporting in after he trained.
