The substitute shinigami walked around the sides of the training fields, looking around, his underlip slightly curled, black bags under his eyes indicated a bad night of sleep. He yawned, putting the metal gauntlet in front of his mouth as he did so. Always a bad idea to get some sleep in the 7th division's barracks. Hell, the beds were lousy and the men were almost always rowdy. Entwining his fingers and stretching his arms upwards and turning his hips slightly, fingers, elbows and spine popping rather loudly. He looked around as he did so, scouting for the kidou user that was contacted. Tetsuzaemon had told him he should not only fight with fists or blade, but, learn a thing or two about kidou aswell.
And so, after a long story of looking and contacting, the shinigami had managed to contact quite the character. A Kidoushuu with quite the reputation. And boy was he nervous. He was practically a beginner at Kidou's level. Maybe it wasn't only the god awful beds or the several noises and grunts at night in the 7th squad's barracks. Probably quite the amount of nerves aswell. And so, the substitute did his trademark move, slapping the metal gauntlet in his neck and rubbing it under his hair. "Yare yare.." He murmured, looking up at the fighting, waiting for the kidou chief to show up.

Blod received the note and checked it with some interest. Someone asking for the Soshi of the Kidoshu... For training? She laughed, mostly because she knew that there currently was no soshi, not after Ryougi's departure. Secondly it was because of the boldness of the request- she was well aware of the Crisis-Core initiative by the Gotei-13, though she wasn't sure that even these special soldiers were special enough to receive training from the Grand Kido Chief. Luckily enough, she was not the chief, despite the note being forwarded her way for lack of a better recipient- and so she figured she could take an afternoon off to humour the 7th division's substitute shinigami representative.
She flash stepped quickly out from the Kidoshu's HQ, and in only one or two bounds, she had already reached the training grounds. She could detect his reiatsu from a mile off, he was like a spiritual lighthouse- the strange mix of human and shinigami spiritual pressure very obvious. A pearly grin flashing across her face briefly, Blod felt that it was high time for some mischief; she fluttered out of her step right behind him, her reiatsu incredibly well-hidden due to her excellent control over it. She appeared as he spoke some oddity while scratching himself- did he have nits or something? He would probably hear the stepping noise, so she quickly shouted; "Boo!" to make him jump before he could react.
She then bowled over, cackling with glee at the mischief she had surely caused. It was good to let loose and cause trouble sometimes- otherwise what was the point of living so long?

He heard a person using a stepping technique behind him, turning around slightly, having the woman shout in his ear. He staggered backwards. "My ear.. You doin' that to all strangers?" He asked, looking at Blod, rubbing the side of his head. He was met with laughter. "Dangit.. Scared the livin' crap outta me.." He muttered. Was this woman the highest ranking kidou corps member? She looks more like a villian right now then anything else. His ears rung from the sudden shout. Dang. Although, he couldn't help but admit to himself that, if it wasn't him that'd be scared, it would've been pretty funny.
"Yer Hirashi-sama, right?" He looked at the female shinigami. "Raiden Saitou, 7th squad, crisis core substitute." He extended his hand towards the blonde. "Yeah.. I kinda wanted to learn sum' Kido.. But I didn't think I'd be hookin' the biggest fish in the pond.." He said with an awkward smile, using his free hand to scratch his neck awkwardly. "Thanks in advance, though.." He let out an awkward and nervous laugh. Raiden wasn't really the guy that took orders or listened to authority, but, hell, she was running kidou corps commander. Not only was she outranking him, she also could destroy him probably in an instant. And she was pretty damn good looking.

She was satisfied with having made him jump, and stood stock still, looking at him starkly as he grumpily sorted himself out. She emphatically looked at him, getting the sense that her prank had been far less than well received. She frowned, concerned, an apologetic look in her eyes. She didn't want to really upset anyone- maybe only behave mischievously. It was in the past now however, the voice in her head that might traditionally have talked her down was absent, following the event whereby she attained her bankai.
"Blodeuwen Hirashi, Chief Bakudo Witch in the Kido Corps." she said sunnily, making up a title for herself on the spot to sound impressive, shaking his hand with great enthusiasm. "You're more than welcome. I'm happy to help anyone with their kido if it'll stop them from getting killed." she told him, truthfully. Goodness knows how many times she would have been converted into a red squicky smear had she not been a pro enchantress. "No big fish here. Right, down to business." she said, gleefully rubbing her hands and depositing her cumbersome zanpakuto in the ground.
"What exactly kind of kido were you looking to learn? Do you have a book? Or would you like me to pick some? Hadou or Bakudo?" she asked, a single eyebrow raised.
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Jul 28, 2015 18:09:49 GMT
He smiled gently at the woman, seemingly already having forgotten about the prank she pulled him. "That's one optimistic approach. Most people'd give less fucks 'bout what 'appened to another division's member." He said, the smile turning into a grin. A fact he had seen and even experienced more then once, a fact wich slightly dissappointed him in the gotei thirteen. But, those were troubles for later. He already liked this woman, not only because she had killer looks that could cause more then one nosebleeds when having naughty thoughts, but, she was all around friendly and happy to help, so, he respected her. He still had the enourmous zanpakutou on his back, the spikey hilt sticking out above his head. It was a fairly large blade, probably slightly bigger then Raiden himself.
"What kind.. Err.. Sheesh.." He runned his neck, thinking. "Well, a bit of both.. Honestly.." He said, pulling a small paper from inside his robes and holding it up with the metal gauntlet. "Err.. Kōtetsu no ame, Haien.." He said, obviously looking from a list. "Aswell as Shitotsu Sansen.." He looked up, crunching the paper, and putting it back in his robes. "Still, if there are sum' other you're gonna advice.." He said, with a warm smile.

Blod's eyebrows shot up, before she smiled in response to Raiden's grin. She knew she was a bit of a sunshine daisy flower girl and that that wasn't necessarily a bad thing at all. In fact it was a relief that someone seemed to appreciate that, given how stuffy most army boffins were. She flicked a stray bang out of her eye, levelling a glistening and momentarily serious gaze at him.
"Well us Kidoshu are cut from a different cloth, I'll have you know." she said, still straight-faced. "Our job transcends inter-division squabbles." she told him proudly, with a a raised finger and a slightly snooty face to indicate pointedness. She returned to her gaze, soft lips curled into a smile, while he explained what he wanted to learn. Blodeuwen could pretty much instantly cast any kido she had a scroll for- but she figured she might as well start with one she knew and so Haien was as good a bet as anything.
"Nope, sounds good. We'll get right to it." she said, her face truly falling flat- training or none, they'd be trading extremely powerful blows, Blodeuwen especially. "Firstly, we'll do Haien. Watch carefully." Blodeuwen would walk towards a training dummy, and spoke the incantation for the kido. Energy formed upon her palm- she was executing the technique slowly so he could see. "Hado 54, Haien!" she said, and a shot of energy flew from her hand at a fast speed, before exploding with intense ferocity upon contacting the dummy. Those training nearby started and began to move away, terrified of the frightful levels of reiatsu Blod released when executing even such a low level kido.
"Did you see? Would you like me to repeat?" she asked him sweetly. "If not, I would like you to execute this kido... Upon me." she told him, face straight.

It was a nice day, he was about to learn some interesting things from an interesting woman who wasn't nescessarily bad on the eyes. "I see. Well, sometimes. I jus' don't get why they're all fightin' 'bout useless stuff, y'know?" He said, a slight feeling of guilt slipping his mind. Seventh division? Yeah, they were kinda tight. Small, close knit groups as a division of general power and loyality. He couldn't help but grin with slight guilt at the scolding face. He nodded as she deadpanned, paying attention now. He nodded as the kidou witch decided to start with Haien.
He looked as the woman walked to the dummy, speaking the incantation. He'd feel the level of spiritual pressure coming from her, even surpassing the uncontrolled and stupid amount the substitute shinigami possessed. The dummy was completely incinerated. Holy fuck. He was baffled at the energy and effectiveness of a kidou of this what was only considered a medium level one.
He looked at Blod and rubbed his chin, before nodding. "I'll give it a try." Only to widen his eyes. "On you? Ya sure?" Well, she knew what she was doing, so, he stepped back and held the armored hand up, repeating the incantation, the flame flakkering around his hand. "Hado 54, Haien!" He said as the destructive Kidou was shot at Blod, only to dim and completely dissappear before even reaching again.
He realised his screw up, looking at his arm as if it was defective, smoke slowly erupting from the steel. "Well, that din't go as well as I wanted it to.."

Blod knew exactly what Raiden meant about the stupid fighting. It was one of the reasons she'd always keenly avoided being in the Gotei 13- her talent with Kido had always afforded her that opportunity, too so it wasn't a massive struggle. Suki and Kitado, her sister and brother respectively, both had to deal with oneupmanship and infighting. The Kidoshu weren't immune to that- oh no, but they were somewhat less disposed towards it, she felt.
She didn't react at his impression of her kido abilities. It was simply a natural part of her life that now, after a good long while, she'd developed her raw ability into a truly devastating skill. She nodded at Raiden as he asked her should he use his kido on her. She was skilled enough to know the exact power of this kido, and also to know that she should be able to tank it with relative ease, unless Raiden was hiding a whole lot of spiritual pressure. She didn't think so- not unless he was a damn sight better at it than her.
"Try again." she told him sedately, a tiny smile pulling at the corner of her lips. He would really have to hurry things along if he wanted to improve while she was able to hang around.
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Jul 28, 2015 18:25:34 GMT
He shook his hand, as if the glove got hot, it didn't, just flapping off the smoke. He nodded again as the kidoshuu urged the substitute shinigami to retry. He took a deep breath, focussed and repeated the incantation. Slowly, the fire flakkered around the steel gauntlet as he chanted the incantation, to finish and shoot the ball of flame at Blod. Succesfully. the surge of flaming kidou shot right towards her. He wasn't sure wether she'd actually be able to hold it off, the doubt grew within a split second after firing. But, she had a killer reiatsu. So, she'd be fine. Probably.
Yet, the probably was what he hated. He wasn't really sure. But, then again, this Blod person knew what she was doing. "Are y'alright, Hirashi-san?" He sighed slowly as she showed that she'd be alright. "How'd I do?" He asked after the smoke from the attack pulled up. Afraid of having hurt his teacher. The concern was heard in his voice as he waited for the smoke to clear up. He didn't really want to have hurt anyone today. Certainly not someone like Blodeuwen. Not someone important. Yet, the biggest fear he still held was because of his captain. He didn't want to piss off Komamura. At all.

Blod saw the completed kido coming at her and knew it; this was it, the real deal. It was a brightly glowing orb of energy, just exactly the right strength, stability and consistency. Blod knew enough about kido to appreciate its strength and also know what measures she would need to take to prevent it: ordinarily, this kido might cause some problems. However, Raiden was weaker than her, and so with little focus, she was able to catch the speeding kido and it exploded on her hand. She hardly even needed to blink. It stung a little, like an overly enthusiastic hi-5, but otherwise Blodeuwen was absolutely golden. As the dust cleared, she would be standing casually, smiling at Raiden with her hands clasped before her bosom.
"I'm absolutely fine Raiden. That was well executed. Fantastically done; I'm happy to move on. Next, I think we shall be learning Kotetsu no Ame. For this one, remember to focus the kido on the air above my head; on your first go don't channel the energy too quickly or it'll burst too fast and nothing will happen- if, however, you keep it steady, it'll some up. You know the incantation for this one, right?" she asked him.
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Jul 28, 2015 20:10:57 GMT
"Good to hear." He grinned as the smoke cleared, smiling to him in regard of his recent achievement, Blod's congratulation only motivating him to learn more kidou, get better at it. Hell, he wasn't the best at Kidou, but, he tried his best, trying his best rewarded him, time and time again. Just like this. He nodded as she told him that Kotetsu no Ame was next, a hint to focus the kidou above her. Not charge it to quickly, it'll be useless and a fuck up. Got it. He nodded again. Keep it nice 'n steady. He could do that, even a hotheaded idiot like him could do that. Or, that's what he thought.
"Err.." He started as she asked him if he knew the incantation to this one, he shook his head. "I don't.." He said with an awkward smile, rubbing his neck awkwardly, before it hissed. The glove he was wearing had heated up quite a lot due to the flame, he pulled the hand away again with a frown, before grabbing the gauntlet with his other hand. The ice that was underneath the cosmetic skin cooling the gauntlet off rapidly, a few fumes working up from it.
Post by Blodeuwen Hirashi on Jul 28, 2015 21:18:40 GMT
Blod smiled. "It's not too hard; Fall, hath-bringers of death, for you shall empower my conviction!" she enunciated slowly and carefully, repeating bits if he seemed to get lost. It was simple enough- having said that it wasn't an especially complex or powerful kido, she'd have little trouble dealing with it. She laughed at his faux pas with the heated glove, how silly. "Remember my advice and you'll be fine. It's much easier to practice kido with a good target so just go for it, I'll be fine." She told him, nodding.
She was right- she herself had spent an age practising her spellwork alone taking hours to even do the most simple things... After a long while, Suki, her adopted sister, found her and chastised her for not asking for help. Blod had laughed at this admonishment before conceding to Suki- and instead switched to praciticing her kido upon her sister who, in her defence, took blow after blow until Blodeuwen grew far too powerful for this to be possible any more. This would not be the case- undoubtedly, Raiden had a long, long way to go before he would be on a level where Blodeuwen could not even defend herself with a defensive spell, or simply ignore the blow as she did now.

He nodded, still feeling kind of stupid due to the incident with his glove. This thing wasn't really meant for Kidou, but, hey, it didn't break or explode in his face. He remembered the incantation, taking a deep breath and holding his arm up. "Fall, Hath-bringers of death, for you shall enpower my conviction!" He focussed on the energy gathering, gritting his teeth as the energy above him distorted, soon filled with energy. But, it went wrong, the spell left a lot to be desired, only a handful scattered in an explosion that was not meant to happen, going out in all directions, some even dropping ontop Raiden, who brang up his armored arm to block them, clanging off the heavy armor. Yet, one piece shattered a chunk of his ice-arm, the blue ice radiating softly as the cosmetic skin was ripped away. "Well. That didn't go as planned."
He looked down at the arm, sighing. Well, this wasn't going to regenerate untill it was completely shattered. He sighed deeply, grabbed the ice and broke it off, shattering his own arm, the metal glove grinding it to dust. "Give me a moment, this thing is back in no time." He said, with a reassuring smile.
After a while, the arm would shoot out again in it's blue, chrystaline texture. He put a hand on his shoulder, rolling it, clenching a fist with the arm. "All seems in order.
Raiden took another deep sigh. "Second attempt." He murmured to himself. "Fall, Hath-bringers of death, for you shall enpower my conviction!" He focussed the energy above Blodeuwen, holding his arm up again. The space above Blod distorted slowly. "Hadō #28 Kōtetsu no ame!" He said as the needles rained down on Blod. The technique in itself was weaker then the usual, yet the substitute shinigami managed to pull it off correctly.
Post by Blodeuwen Hirashi on Jul 29, 2015 23:33:29 GMT
Blod winced on Raiden's behalf as he managed to cast the kido upon himself. While it might not have been obvious to him she could see quite clearly: he simply hadn't accounted for targeting, resulting in all the energy in the kido being formed above his head. That must have been painful, and it appeared to damage his shikai. Blod knew it would recover and was not too concerned. She nodded when he asked for a moment, and tried to think of more kidos to teach Raiden. She wasn't quite sure what he was after- ahh well, whatever- she was sure they'd work something out together. She watched him regenerate his arm, and smiled toothily, as he appeared to be ready to continue.
He launched the kido at her. It was considerably weaker than Haien- it was weak even for a regular occurrence of the spell. She didn't even blink as the hailstones merely bounced off of her. Once the effects had ended she clapped politely.
"Very good. But you didn't put nearly enough oomph into it. It's a balance of force and aim, recall." she said sweetly. "The first time you had all the force you needed- perhaps a little too much, control your reiryoku flow. The second, you aimed- careful not to hit yourself but had stoppered that reiryoku flow too much. It's all about balance, Raiden."
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Jul 30, 2015 21:42:53 GMT
Seriously? No questions about the arm? Normally when it was hurt or released, he'd get a torrent of questions afterwards. Do you feel something through that? Does it hurt? How'd you get it? Why is it brittle? Etc. It was quite the ice breaker for some conversations. Heh. He grinned slyly at his own pun. Blod explained to him how he had pulled it off, but, not with enough power. He nodded, rolling his shoulders. "Needs more punch. Well then. Third attempt." He said with a bitter grin. "Y'know what they 'bout third times." He said as he lifted his arm. "It's a charm." He muttered as he focussed on the space above Blod.
"Fall, Hath-bringers of death, for you shall enpower my conviction!" He yelled out the incantation once more, keeping his attention on the space above Blodeuwen, filling it with energy. "Hadō #28 Kōtetsu no ame!" He said as he tried to focus a moderate amount of reishi into the attack. And there it was. The air above Blodeuwen distorted. Brimming with energy, before steel needles rained down on the Kidoushuu, dust working up and around her, revealing Blodeuwen from Raiden's sight. Again. He asked with legitimate concern whether she was alright or not.

She nodded to him and smiled, happy that he wasn't losing face. It could be an incredibly frustrating experience, attempting to learn Kido. She knew that, as perfecting her kido had been at the centre of her professional life for as long as she could remember. Still, Raiden showed promise. He wouldn't be winning any awards any time soon but he could cast the spells he had set out to learn and Blodeuwen could tell that he had determination, which was honestly by far the most important trait. She looked over at his strange prosthetic arm, which he was now using to cast the spell- strange, but she knew Mayuri Kurotsuchi had had his way with the members of the Crisis Core, so he could have done anything to them.
She heard the incantation and steeled herself for it but it was old hat by now, and the attack merely glanced off. She wondered if it at all impacted Raiden's ego that the spells he could now cast flawlessly did absolutely nothing to harm her. She wasn't sure how it'd make her feel- probably nonplussed. She merely smiled sweetly at him and used her reiatsu to clear the air between them.
"There's honestly no need to worry about me." she said. "Perhaps if you were using higher levelled kido than that, but alas, you are not." she said, brushing some errant hair from her face. She really needed to have her bangs cut. "How long have you been a Shinigami anyway, Raiden? We do seem to go through Crisis Core members awfully quickly." she said, not realizing that that might have been cause for panic.
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Aug 28, 2015 12:34:55 GMT
He sighed slowly, a hint of relief. "I'm worried, ai'ght. Ain't every day I'm shootin' a pretty tutor." Despite Blodeuwen's reassuring him, he still felt quite conflicted at targeting and casting Kidou at an ally. He smirked bitterly as she told him that he wouldn't be able to harm her unless using higher levelled Kidou. "Dissapointed?" He asked with the same grin. He had to start somewhere. And it were more means of saving his own, and possibly, other's asses. So, even if he had to start from zero, he'd take it in stride and train to overcome this weakness, get stronger. Wasn't that all he did? Growing stronger. It seemed quite the disgusting thing, this thirst for power. But, it was the reasoning behind it that made it justified in Raiden's eyes. The will to protect everyone around him.
He noticed the gaze on his odd, icelike arm, holding it up for better view. "A li'l thing I've recieved when fightin' an arrancar. Tore my arm off, re-gifted it through ice." He took a deep sigh. "She could'a killed me in tha blink of an eye. 'N I still faced 'er down like an idiot."
"Several years, now." He said, shrugging slightly. "I kinda don' count it." He folded his arms, smirking slowly. "Do ya now? Well, I'm tryin' to stay alive 'n do what's asked."

"Che." Blod said, obviously disapproving of his casanova-esque comment about her attractiveness. Shinigami guys weren't really all that much better in terms of chauvanism- at least it was mostly in an attempt to be complimentary on their part, though. He asked if she was disappointed and she took pause for a moment to consider her response.
"No, I'm not. Everyone has to start somewhere, right? However, that doesn't change the fact that it takes something a bit stronger for you to get through my reiatsu." she told him with a smile, carefully ommitting the part where she herself had in fact been at Raiden's level of performing kido while still in the academy, seeing an ego-bruising as being an unnecessary part of his training- this was not true for everyone.
She nodded curtly when he explained about his arm. It seemed like a distinctly arrancar-like move. She wondered what manner of creatures were out there that hadn't been included in Sosuke Aizen's army that were still captain-class in strength. Llew was one of those beings, she knew. She still felt nothing but vague, empty coldness for the arrancar, having destroyed the part of herself that lusted after him when she learned the true name of her zanpakuto.
"Aren't we all?" she asked. "Still, well done for getting this far. You seem to be considered a tad expendable- that's why you get thrown into a lot of danger. The advantage, I suppose, of being higher-ranked is that you get to do a lot of desk work." she said, only half joking."What next?"
Post by RAIDEN SAITOU on Oct 28, 2015 17:13:10 GMT
It wasn't really meant as a compliment, or as any kind of chauvanistic or romantic approach to it at all. It was just who he was, stating facts. He didn't really answer to Blod's sounded dissapproval. Him trying to explain all of this would cause needless confusion. And perhaps turn around for a rather bad standing. And he sure as hell didn't want to piss off someone like her. Chief kidoushuu. So many ways he could meet his end if he invoked Blodeuwen's wrath. And yeah. That was a bad idea. "Well, yeah.. That's kinda reassurin' I can't get through your reiatsu. I ain't one fer shootin' allies." He pulled a sheepish smirk. "Yeah, even though I can't hurt ya. I know." He smiled awkwardly.
"Not always. There're times 'n days where I'd sacrifice myself. If my friends 'n family are threatened.. I won't doubt steppin' in 'n takin' a blow that'd end me." He nodded slowly. Sounded pretty stupid, but true nonetheless. A base principle. Anyone he held close wouldn't die before he did. Unable to argue about it. No 'if what' cases. No nothing. A resolute principle he had. "Well, yeah. Probably we are. 'N I dun' care in the slightest."
He chuckled slowly. "Yeah.. I guess ya do. But, then 'gain, we're also sometimes seen as quite the power in our squad.. I know I am." He pulled the propped piece of paper from his shihakusho again, opening it. "Six light.. Binding rod prison, y'know that one?"
Post by Blodeuwen Hirashi on Jan 13, 2016 16:58:13 GMT
"I wouldn't worry too much about it. Shinigami do it to one another all the time. We're in the capable hands of the, admittedly disapproving 4th squad when it all goes pear shaped, so there isn't too much risk. This is a slight concern Raiden- we know some hollows are prone to imitate allies, which could potentially be used against you." she smiled at him, gentle despite her perhaps overly harsh chastisement for what was probably just an off-the-cuff comment. "Sorry to sound harsh but it would be a shame to lose you." she added warmly. "Even if you don't care all that much." she groomed herself while he rummaged to retrieve his paper in order to get the next spell.
Blod laughed when he mentioned the name of the next spell. It was one of her specialities- her demonstration of the spell had landed her the Bakudo Branch Operator job before she had become the Vice-Kidocho prior to Kiyu making her the new Soshi.
"Yes Raiden I know the spell. Rikujōkōrō. Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six." she said in a monotone, reciting the spell. "I won't demo it on you as I might hurt you but feel free to give it a go when you're ready." she told him, her eyes shining with mirth.
