The cold night air brought with it a chill that sunk deep to the young Quincy’s bones, even through the thick black jacket he wore over his usual attire. Brushing back stark red hair, Un noted to himself silently how much he hated Winter. But the weather would not stop him from his work; there was evil afoot, as always, and nearby. He closed his eyes and spread out his Reiatsu, sensing for any hint he could use to pick back up on its trail, which had suddenly run… well, cold. Damnit, weather puns. He opened his eyes, having sensed a small trace of Reiatsu down the street. It was faint, so he was still quite a bit behind on the tracks of this one, but whatever it was, be it a Hollow or Shinigami, maybe he could catch up to it before it could cause any harm.
Tracking the Reiatsu took nearly an hour from there, following decreasingly faint traces until he could practically follow it by smell. Definitely a Hollow. When he turned the last corner, he found it… too late, unfortunately. It was already feeding, slowly gnawing away at the leg of a poor disembodied spirit, whom had already gone numb and was just… laying there, still awake and conscious, but just… too far gone.
It broke his heart, and almost before he knew it, his longbow had formed out of Reishi, and an arrow drawn to it. Only a moment later the creature was a writhing mass of black, having rolled away from the spirit, slowly dissipating into black dust in the air. Un approached the spirit carefully, examining her. The damage done to the lower portion of the spirit’s body was already too severe, and he could feel the darkness spreading through her already. It wouldn’t be long before she turned herself. What came next was an act of mercy. He leaned down to kneel next to the spirit, resting his hand gently on her head.
“I am sorry that I could not arrive sooner,” he spoke softly, a light, comforting tone in his voice, “I wish you comfort and joy in the next world.” He knew it was a lie. He knew what his arrows did, but… to allow her to turn and become one of those… things… was a greater sin than to erase her entirely. Without standing, he drew up his bow once more, drawing back an arrow. “Rest now.” And just like that, the spirit was dispatched, just as the Hollow. It broke his heart, or at least, that’s what he could say, if he hadn’t brought himself to be numb to it a long time ago. He preferred saving anyone he could in time, truly, but he had seen this many times, and could no longer take the heartache… so he trained himself to distance himself from his emotions in times like these.
But there would be no time to rest, it seemed, as another Reiatsu approached, also reeking of darkness. He stood, holding his bow steady but not drawing it up until he knew what he was getting himself into, holding is senses about him and waiting for the Hollow to show itself.

Having sensed his prey, Nadežda kept his distance to observe. Waiting for it to be plenty distracted by its own meal before snuffing out all its hope for ever enjoying the flesh of man again. Or any other hollow for that matter. By comparisons the creature paled in stature when considering combative prowess. An easy picking for an old Hollow such as himself. But something had told him to hang back just a little longer and wait. He observed from cover some distance away as the target slowly consumed it's meal, a plus soul who'd likely passed away recently. Despite it's obviously being a human, Nadežda felt nothing. The only human he'd ever cared for had died more than a millennia ago, and aside from learning of the modern culture and happenings, he'd never considered himself close with any of the living world's population. Most of the lesser humans couldn't even see him to begin with after all. He watched with distaste, the Hollow who preyed upon his meal without consideration. Nadežda's hunter instincts secretly loathing the beast and its methods. Joy of the hunt was one thing, but making the prey suffer once it's death had been assured merely for one's own enthrallment? Even to this day his instincts as a wolf wouldn't allow him to do such a thing. He was no cat. Playing with food when it was hard enough to come by at times just didn't seem right.
It came as no surprise to the old Hollow when a redheaded Quincy boy appeared with resolution and intent. Killing the hollow without mercy to put an end to its preying. Yet straining as much as he could, Nadežda could sense no other Quincy nearby. Strange considering their renewed conflict with the Shinigami. They recently began resorting to hunting in packs of three or more to safeguard themselves, not just against Hollows, but also against the Shinigami who continued to threaten their very existence with renewed fervor now that open war had been declared between the two races.
The girl was not Quincy, being only a normal plus who'd once been human. If anything she'd been enjoying her time in the living world avoiding the reapers who constantly patrolled the area, performing Konso on any souls they found they might have missed and hadn't been sent off to Soul Society. He'd actually seen what happened to this girl. Regretfully she'd been one to commit suicide. Perhaps it was due to the nature of her death that Shinigami hadn't readily found her and sent the girl passing on. Her discovery of what awaited after death beyond the hopelessness of life itself had spurred a renewed curiosity in the girl which Nadežda quickly noticed and took interest in. Through the weeks he'd observed her. At first her antics had been to mischievously play ghostly pranks on those who'd made her suffer in life, but she'd soon mellowed out and lost interest. It was a good indication and it seemed to Nadežda that she'd chosen to move on, if only with the people who'd haunted her past.
"Comfort and joy in the next world... That seems a might ironic coming from someone such as yourself." Nadežda stepped out into the open, a lighted street lamp illuminating his feminine features as he approached the Quincy. In his Illusion of a human form, Nadežda appeared no older than his late teens. An ample chest, hair which extended halfway down his back and sported symmetrical streaks of white among the more common deep blues. Ears, not regular human ears, but ones far more animal and far more akin to a wolve's. Nadežda's tail swished slowly from side to side as he approached. Equally blue but fading to a silvery white near the ends. His right eye a brilliant gold, left a glowing blue.
Though his presence felt Hollow to the core, The Quincy would see none of the telltale signs otherwise. No mask, no black body accompanying said mask. Even Arrancar had some semblance of a mask to tell them apart from other spiritual beings. But these were all features which Nadežda could hide with his illusory form. "Hunting alone is dangerous." Nadežda spoke, his feminine voice trailing as he looked the Quincy up and down, taking him in. Yet there was no mockery in Nadežda's tone of voice when he spoke, and unlike others of his kind, his eyes reflected neither hunger nor desire for the Quincy standing before him.
It didn’t take long for the source of the Hollow’s presence to step out into the light, though its form wasn’t quite what he was expecting. Of course, he had been informed of the Arrancar, Hollow whom had taken on a human shape and almost more mimic’d Shinigami than Hollows… which only served to make Un find them more despicable… but this didn’t quite match up to what he’d heard they looked like. She could be a Vasto Lorde, but her presence didn’t seem that powerful. That meant it had to be some ability, to look human, minus a few characteristics. But her presence was still Hollow to the core, and such an ability would not fool him.
“So I’m told.” As a matter of fact, the household he had found himself effectively adopted by in his travels as a lone Quincy had warned him of such. The Vandenreich, the main army of the Quincy come again, was on the move, and had declared war with the Shinigami. It was like a dream come true! Until he found out that the family he had been brought into, including himself, would not be brought into the battle. Not yet, at least. There had been a minor first invasion, but the Shinigami’s defense had fought back harder than expected. Though that didn’t cause Un’s resolve to waver, and he hoped it proved the same with the rest of his kind. Erich, his adopted father, tried to warn him about the dangers of going out alone now. Obviously, he hadn’t listened. “But I wouldn’t be a true Quincy if I could just sit around while you Hollow and Shinigami go about doing as you please.”
He paused for a moment, drawing up his bow again, bringing his hand back as another arrow formed, ready to release, aimed at the Hollow’s chest.
“Speaking of which, your tricks won’t fool me, demon. Release your illusion and I might make your death quick, and painless.” Though he preferred otherwise, even a Hollow’s soul was simply someone who was tormented enough in life to be twisted into such horrid creatures in death. He would make no one suffer, but the idea of such a creature trying to pretend to be human, much like the Arrancar tried to become Shinigami, disgusted him. There would be no mercy for such sin. “You will only have one chance.”

"No... No, I suppose you wouldn't be a true Quincy otherwise would you..." Nadežda let out a long disappointed sigh. It was always like this. With only but a handful of exceptions, whenever he chose to reveal himself to either Shinigami or Quincy whom he figured he could reason with. They'd all acted the same with their unrelenting dedication to a kill or be killed attitude. "But then you also exude qualities that have proven quite fatal to many others..." Nadežda took a step closer to the Quincy, then another. "Taunts are useless, but if it's to be a show then I suppose I've no choice but to entertain." Nadežda paused his advance, opening his palms at his sides to show that he was unarmed, at least in his illusory state. Still, the hollow didn't seem to flaunt any sense of overconfidence, nor did he mock or sneer at the Quincy. It was a thing so many hollows and Arrancar seemed to do when they were about (or thought they were about to) to crush inferior opponents.
Current Appearance:
Simultaneous to the moment Nadežda vanished from the Quincy's view the boy would hear a strange, static sound. Performing Sonido, as it were, was still enough to render Nadežda's illusion void as the old hollow re-positioned himself right behind the Quincy's field of view. The Hollow's shape took on that of an undeniably large wolf in form, not less than eight feet tall at full standing. The sinews of his fur flowed in ghastly shades upon the cool night air. His eyes were a mixed glow of swirling blue and violet hues. Strange wisps of similar fashion drifted up from his slightly agape and threatening jaw. His hollow mask, on full display now that he'd dropped the illusion, extended up the length of his forehead. Its appearance, ancient and worn with lost time, etched with strange symbols that not even the hollow himself could point a meaning to.
"Threaten me all you want human, It does little in the end but prove just how foolishly suicidal you truly are. If, by chance, I'd held the desire to snuff out your life, you'd have been dead long before your Quincy arrows could ever leave that bow." Nadežda spoke in a hushed whisper, yet his normally booming, echoed voice, could still pierce one's mind and soul to chilling effect. Still Nadežda was no fool, even as close as he now was he continued to maintain a watchful eye in case the child chose to react in some way against his advance. "Unless perhaps... Death is what you truly desire?" This last statement of Nadežda's, an inquiry drawn up from his own curiosity about the boy's intents.
The Hollow seemed to accept Un’s propsal, causing the young Quincy to grin as what seemed like a reluctant acceptance of defeat fed into his ever-present ego. The Hollow took a few steps forward, Un’s grip on his arrow tightening as he pulled back further, as if force and kinetic energy somehow had any effect on its power. But then, the Hollow would appear behind him at a moment’s notice, seemingly from a technique not much different from the Quincy’s Hirenkyaku, which he didn’t fully have a grasp on yet. His body tensed up, in what others may misconstrue as fear, when really, it was pure and utter frustration and rage at the idea of such an unsightly beast making quick and easy use of a technique he had not mastered himself yet.
As the Hollow spoke behind him, his anger only grew as the Hollow looked down on him. Trembling with anticipation, and definitely not fear, Un slowly lowered his hands, bow going with them, though not releasing the tension on the arrow. Soon enough, it was close enough. He had spent nearly his entire life training as a Quincy, to gain mastery or at least decent proficiency yet over his powers, and to control his body and powers in any situation…
...but nothing would stop this spoiled 15-year-old boy with a God complex from throwing a temper tantrum when threatened by such a lowly beast.
Nearly the moment the Hollow had asked its question, he shifted its aim just a hair to launch an arrow into the Hollow’s foot, which he hoped would distract the Hollow for at least long enough for him to push himself out, turning and drawing another arrow and firing the second arrow towards the Hollow’s throat, assuming it hadn’t made any major motion to avoid the first attack or otherwise move out of place.
“Know your place, demon,” he spoke coldly, the arrogance and rage unavoidably present in his voice, “you can choose to try to emulate our form as much as you want, to be something else, but you nothing will change what you are, and what you are is the reason I must do my duty. Now allow me to extinguish your stain upon this world.”
[newclass=.hoveropac]opacity:0.2;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass] [newclass=.hoveropac:hover]opacity:0.95;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass]
There it was. The old Hollow expected an attack of some sort from the boy. To think the first strike would be in the form of such a low blow though... Were all Quincy this prone to underhanded tactics that they couldn't face their opponents head on in a proper fashion? Having anticipated actions from the Quincy beforehand, Nadežda's stance had been fully prepared to avoid. Despite the key difference in strength of the boy, a charged attack from him could still potentially hurt, and the hollow desired to avoid injury whenever possible... In a single swift motion, Nadežda launched himself back, avoiding the attack. As for the second attack. Quincy never did stop at just one attack... Nadežda knew, and prepared his counter. Underestimating opponents was not in his book of practices no matter how weak they might feel to him. Though the distance was mere meters... Nadežda's bala launched the very moment the Quincy boy's own shot fired. Though the boy's shot managed to break passed, it's diminished strength did nothing but glance off the old Hollow's mask thanks to the position he'd moved to in order to launch his counter. Interesting... The boy had strength, if only in his mastery of his Quincy powers... Bala, Cero... they were still somewhat foreign to Nadežda and while he could use them both and had before in the past, using such ranged attacks seemed somehow unsettling to him. Though the strength of his bala seemed to be the limit to what the boy's shots could pierce, Nadežda didn't dare unleash his Cero. Especially not now, within the proximity of such a densly populated human city.
"Demon? Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps you are the real demon here?." Nadežda's eyes flashed with an anger he hadn't felt within himself since a time long since forgotten. Given the boy's proximity after his maneuver, the Quincy would be nowhere near far enough to avoid Nadežda's Force Gaze. "Many creatures kill to feed themselves. Birds, fish, bears, even wolves and countless other creatures in this mortal world of yours. Yet you turn a blind eye to such carnage, such elimination of life. Hollows kill. Some kill more out of sport than others, I won't deny this fact. But no matter what we kill, be it human or fellow Hollow, it still continues a cycle. Quincys kill these Hollow and to what end? Those whom you purge don't return to any cycle, can never return to being human ever again. They and everything that exists within them becomes systematically destroyed because of you and your Quincy powers. Instead of maintaining this existence of souls you blindly erase what exists as if you wish the world itself to end. Is that what you want boy? To put an end to this world and the next?" Why... why had he chosen to speak reason to a Quincy? Those that listened to reason were far and few between.
"You still think you can beat me in your present state... And yet your arrogance knows no bounds... Do you really think we chose our paths willingly? Do you really believe all Hollows to be without conscience, without the right to be saved? Is your view so narrow that you've become blinded by your own misguided beliefs?" Nadežda sighed. Why was he trying. He was so much better at avoiding these kinds of confrontations than to try and pursue a reasonable conversation. Perhaps his recent encounter with a far more reasonable than expected Shinigami had gotten his hopes up that perhaps he too could shed some neutral light on an otherwise hostile encounter...
"This form..." Nadežda spoke as he returned to his illusory humanoid appearance. "Is my memory. It is the sole reason that I, One out of countless hollow, cling to sanity. To call me a demon for assuming this appearance..." Nadežda frowned. He was still trying to reason with the boy... but why? "Tell me boy... what drives you to act this way?"
In truth, the young Quincy hadn’t expected to kill the Hollow with that attack, nor really leave any lasting marks. He wasn’t so naive that he didn’t sense the difference in power between them; but at the same time, victory wasn’t an unachievable goal here either, and thus it was his duty to see it through. However, by the time he had full confirmed his resolve, his second attack had already been softened by the Hollow’s Bala, and he had already fallen victim to the enemy’s tricks. He found himself unable to move his body, clenching his teeth and pulling as hard as he could, but it was no use. And somehow he had the feeling that before the cold, sweet embrace of death could save him from this humiliation, he would have to…
YEP! There it was! The Hollow continued to spew ridiculous nonsense at him about how he was a demon… Un, a Quincy, a holy warrior fighting against the darkness of these creatures! How dare such a monster suggest that the rough equivalent of living ANGELS were the actual demons!? And he went on to ramble about how somehow this ‘cycle’ the Shinigami preached about was some salvation, as if those souls that turn into Hollows somehow deserved to be redeemed through such means. It would’ve made Un laugh, if it wasn’t so pitiful, misguided, and completely disgusting.
“Me, a demon? Wanting to put an end to this world!? We Quincy are the SAVIORS of this world! What makes you Hollow and Shinigami so sure that this cycle of yours even works!? And even if it does, Hollows become what they are for a reason! You can try to justify it, or try to seek penance however you wish, but what you are is fact. Why should souls corrupted by such darkness be allowed such forgiveness!?” He pushed again, trying to break free of his binds.
“I am Un Yin Feng, a proud Quincy, and to accept such NONSENSE as this would go against everything I am!” He was shouting, not unlike a child throwing a tantrum now, though with a note of calculated arrogance. “If your goal is to humiliate me, congratulations, you’ve succeeded! If your goal is to kill me, be done with it! I would rather die than listen to more of this heresy! And if you wish to continue to deceive me with this ruse of having overcome what you are, then you should leave before this binding loses its hold, for I will not show mercy over such trickery!”
As he spoke his last words, however, his body relaxed as he accepted that he wouldn’t be able to break out of this binding… but such a technique would not last forever, and if he were to live to see its end, he would need the energy to fight or track this vile creature that once again took on a relatively human form.
[newclass=.hoveropac]opacity:0.2;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass] [newclass=.hoveropac:hover]opacity:0.95;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass]
Humiliate him? No that hadn't been Nadežda's intention... He'd only hoped that the Quincy might accept a second opinion that didn't happen to come from misguided sources... But he seemed solidly convinced that what his people were doing, what they stood for... would save the world. The old hollow sighed, his human illusion's expression darkening. This wasn't someone he could get through to it seemed... He was already molded to his ways and wouldn't allow anything to change that. Nadežda stepped away, his Force Gaze would last a bit longer so the Quincy wouldn't be an immediate threat to him... "You call yourself a savior... yet you are destined to be condemned in the end..." The hollow looked upon the boy, pity reflected in his expression as he regarded the Quincy. Was he so blind that he didn't even know the kind of fate which would greet him at the end of his life? "You call yourself a savior but... Do you even know what happens when your kind dies? I've observed happenings in the human world for more than a thousand years and I can tell you this one simple fact that has become very clear to me... I have seen humans die because of hollow and I have seen them die of old age and sickness. The same goes for the Quincy I've observed but there is one key difference that has remained constant. Each... and every quincy's death i've observed, whether it be of natural cause or not, has only ever resulted in the birth of a new hollow such as myself." Nadežda allowed his words to sink into the boy's thoughts before continuing, even if by now he knew that they probably wouldn't in the end. "Tell me then, if you and your people truly are saviors... why is it that each and every one of you becomes hollow when they die?"
Nadežda was about to step closer and continue his speech, if only for arguement's sake, when a clear and immediate threat presented itself. The hollow jumped back just in time to avoid an arrow flying between him and the Quincy boy. Nadežda clicked his tongue in annoyance, it seemed another Quincy had arrived...
Post by Tanya Wyrdhaven on Jan 12, 2019 0:04:33 GMT
"Che-" Tanya clicked her tongue in annoyance after her first charged shot failed to catch the hollow by surprise. Strange as its appearance was there was no mistaking the thing's grotesque presence. She swiftly adjusted her aim and fired a spread of arrows at the beast. It might be fast on the reflex but she could lay down a field of fire that the thing wouldn't be able to avoid. Though try and avoid it did. Nadežda jumped back again, avoiding most of the arrows but still feeling the sting of several others as they trailed. His illusion immediately dropped off and he retreated further back before Tanya could ready another volley and get off anymore shots.
Tanya was prepared to chase the thing if need be, judging by the weight of its presence it was at least an Adjuchas class Hollow... A dangerous encounter at her current level but she could gain the upper hand if she played her cards right.
This wasn't going to end well if he stayed here any longer... Convincing the boy had obviously failed and now another, stronger Quincy had arrived to protect him it seemed... With the glow of his eyes, Nadežda summoned a gate and jumped backwards through it, back into Hueco Mundo. Perhaps avoiding the human world for a while would be in his best interest. Hostile activity seemed to have been rising in recent years and he honestly wanted no part in it... Un would find that the forces binding his body vanished as soon as the Hollow disappeared through its portal.
"Dammit! So it wasn't a resident Hollow..." Tanya cursed when another of her shots passed harmlessly through where the demon's portal had appeared. She kept her bow out. There was no telling with these monsters whether or not they would truly retreat or not. Many of them liked to hide between dimensions and sneak out to try and land surprise attacks. One simply couldn't be too careful around Hollows...
When it became clear that the hollow wasn't returning, Tanya turned to face the Quincy boy. "Are you injured?" she asked.
For whatever reason, this deranged creature decided to continue to try to preach its nonsense to its captive audience. Part of Un wished he could end his own suffering himself. Even more of him was mad at himself for not having entered the encounter shooting, giving the Hollow a chance to speak at all. Perhaps having slain the monster he’d been hunting had softened him for a moment, and the calm approach of the creature had appealed to his feelings of superiority. Yet, look where it had gotten him. He could feel the stench of the creature’s energy over him, and if he could, then surely those he stayed with would. No doubt he had another one of his adoptive father’s self-righteous speeches coming, not that it would matter.
But soon, it would seem, he would be saved, as another Quincy’s arrow flew through the air, nearly striking the Hollow. He felt his bonds loosen, but not enough to break free. The Hollow opened a portal to its hellish home world, and as soon as it crept through, the bonds were broken. Without hesitation, Un brought up his bow and fired a charged shot towards the portal, but it closed just before the arrow could reach it. The arrow crackled and fizzled into the air before it could cause any collateral damage.
“DAMNIT!” He shouted, falling to his knees, the bow dissipating as he slammed his fist against the pavement. How had he allowed this to happen? He should’ve known better than to underestimate the enemy. He regathered his composure nigh instantly, though, as the other Quincy approached. She definitely wasn’t a member of his adoptive family… so who was she? He hadn’t seen many of his kind outside of his own family and the clan that took him in.
“No injuries, no, other than maybe to my pride.” His aggravation at himself was unmistakable in his voice. He took a deep breath, calming down again. “I’m sorry you had to see such a pathetic display as that. It would seem I have been to lenient on myself in training.” He brushed off the knees of his pants, taking another look over the newcomer. “I am Un Yin Feng, though you may not know my family’s name. I am the last true Quincy of my bloodline. That said, I know of few of our kind who yet live. Who might you be?”

"Good" Tanya stated, lightly regarding the boy's position. Confirming that the Hollow was indeed gone, she allowed her bow to disperse and hung the resulting trinket back around her neck. "Tanya Wyrdhaven Pure blood, like yourself." She kept things short and simple while continuing to glance around. It wasn't Hollows she was looking for anymore but others who patrolled the area who might not overlook the obvious bursts of Reishi energy they'd been shooting off within the area. "We should not remain here for much longer. Cloak yourself and come with me. Now." Her voice was sharp and commanding and Tanya didn't wait for him to fully recover himself. Landing a firm hold on his arm Tanya proceeded to pull the boy several blocks away. If Un chose to come willingly then Tanya would release her hold on his arm and allow him to walk with her as she continued on in a brisk pace, imploring him to follow.
Tanya didn't stop until after she entered the parking lot belonging to one of the resident markets. Walking over to a 1963 Mercedes W113 Pagoda, she turned to Un. If he'd asked questions or even if he hadn't done so by now she would say: "You may have questions you'd like to ask and I have answers, but not here, not now. Get in." Tanya motioned to the passenger side seat with a flick of her head. If Un cared to notice he'd see a variety of food goods in bags that held the store's logo on them. Stuffed behind the drivers seat were a few other supplies, a blanket, a bag with what appeared to be a change of clothes, and an unusual box with a lid that appeared to have been sealed at one point. The oddest part of all this might have been Tanya's state of attire as it was unusually casual considering the perfectly restored classic she drove.
Name: Kamizaiten (Godly Veil of Unsightly Flesh) ** Class: Reishi Technique Type: Supplementary Tier: II Range: Self Description: With this technique, one is able to form a field of spirit particles that reflects any kind of reiatsu-sensing skill. In addition, it also masks any kind of item or power one possesses, making them look like a weak, powerless human, thus becoming virtually invisible to any spiritual being.
Un continued without saying a word as the newcomer, Tanya, a fellow Pureblooded Quincy, dragged him along for several blocks after he had cloaked himself with seemingly the same technique she had. Surely this was to avoid any Shinigami that may have caught wind of the events that had just transpired. They entered a mostly-empty parking garage and approached a particularly classic car, where Tanya told him any questions he may have… which there were many… would have to wait. Un hadn’t really cared to mention it before, but upon looking into the car that he was instructed to get into, it became more apparent… she was dressed very casually, and had quite an assortment of things in her car to have anywhere comfortable that she was living in.
But it could be a ruse as well, and he knew nothing about her, so he would hold off on his judgment and hope that it was wrong, and that this might be the beginning of something great.
Opening the car door and settling into the passenger seat, carefully navigating around the bags of groceries and whatever else she had in here, Un noted to himself how much of a turn today had taken, and wondered if he would have met another Quincy if he had dealt with that Hollow properly. Did the others know about her? Were there any others out there? As much as he appreciated everything his adoptive family had done for him, they had always kept him relatively in the dark about their operations and communications in the world at large, and scarcely did anything to move against Hollow movements or Shinigami in Karakura themselves.
But that was over now. Things were going to change for him, he was sure of it.

"It's for training" Tanya noted to Un without taking her eyes off the road and providing little more than the base and simple explanation to him about the seemingly random supplies she had stuffed in her car. "I've got a truck too but I managed to finish restoring this baby a couple of weeks ago. I actually live over in the Naruki City area but was in the area today so I figured I'd get some things to restock the fridge." Another answer, this time in regards to the grocery bags.
Tanya pulled up the drive to her home, pressing the wireless key for the House Garage. Aside from the garage Tanya pulled into, Un would also see that a large section of the house seemed to be possessed of a much larger garage section and judging by the materials strewn about it would be evident that it was some sort of mechanic's workshop. The workshop and the house combined to form a singular structure.
Turning off the ignition to the car, Tanya exited and opened the driver side passenger seat, grabbing as many of the grocery bags as she could. 'If you don't mind grabbing some of the groceries we can head inside."
If Un observed the box in her car for any length of time or made to pick it up at all Tanya would turn to him with a stern look and tell him: "Don't touch that! I told you to get the groceries." She would watch him until he properly grabbed the bags of groceries before walking him to a door leading into the house. If he didn't take any further interests in the box and grabbed the groceries bags without question, Tanya would simply wait for him before walking him to the door.
"Just here is fine." Tanya stated, indicating the island counter in the kitchen for him to place the bags onto. Once the groceries were all in and accounted for Tanya would offer him a seat in the living area while she returned to the car and brought in the blanket, other supplies, and the strange box she possessed. The blanket and supplies she stored in a corner while she carefully placed the box into a locking cabinet.
“I see,” Un remarked about her commenting on the training supplies, though he couldn’t imagine how such things would be used in training, and the car. Soon they were at Tanya’s home in Naruki City, which at first had lead him to believe it would be the high-class abode expected of a remaining Quincy family, and yet it appeared from the outside to be little more than connected garages. It was becoming increasingly hard for Un to not internally judge this girl’s state of living and whether she would be of any use to him after all. However, when she pulled into the garage and asked for help with the groceries, he didn’t turn her down. She had gotten him out of a sticky situation, after all, and he at least owed her the courtesy of helping however he could.
His eyes lingered on the odd box in her car, however, he grabbed bags of groceries and left the box as it was. He hadn’t been raised to pry into other peoples’ business, and whatever that box was or whatever it contained, it was not his to find or study. Placing the bags on the kitchen island, Un looked around to find the interior to be a bit closer to what he would expect, though it seemed she lived alone here.
“This is a nice home you have here,” Un stated casually, looking around after having taken a seat in the living area. “Do you live alone? Or are there others here with you?”

"Thank you. It took a few years but the place has finally been paid off." With the box now safely secured in its holding spot, Tanya proceeded to put away the groceries. "I'm never truly alone when it comes to living but if you're referring to this house then yes, I tend to prefer my time alone. I find it to be much more peaceful that way." Each bag she emptied was then folded up and deposited into a recycling container.
"I said I would answer your questions and I will. But I do have a few questions of my own that I would like to ask you as well..." Reaching up to her neck Tanya casually pulled the plus shaped trinket down and placed it in the palm of her bow-arm. "This is my Quincy cross, though of course you already knew that." Manifesting her bow, Tanya allowed Un a chance to see it's shape properly. It was a bow, but unlike a typical bow's shape, Tanya's appeared to be a fusion of two in one, forming a narrow X-shaped bow with a four-way string that seemed to meld together in the middle. "I have a couple of jobs and one of them involves finding people who are interested in maintaining and continuing our cause." With this statement, Tanya allowed the bow to dissipate back into its trinket form before replacing it around her neck. "We'll likely be talking for a while. Would you like something to drink? I have water, milk, tea, coffee..." Regardless of what Un asked for, Tanya would pour herself a cup of coffee. If Un didn't choose a drink she would bring him a glass of water, otherwise she would pour him a beverage of his choice and set it on the table in front of him. "You said earlier you weren't certain if I knew of your family. It is a part of my duties to be familiar with the various Quincy families, both those that are loyal, and those who have proven to be less than favorably so..." Tanya sat back in a chair opposite the table to Un. Taking a moment to drink of her coffee, Tanya then leaned forward to set her cup on the table. "From what I understand the reports I've read suggest that the Feng family shows leniency towards hollows. Tell me, If you are indeed a Feng then why were you so desperately trying to kill that wolfish hollow earlier? Do you not share in your family's values? And if so then to what end?"
“Tea would be wonderful, thank you,” Un said calmly, though his mind was racing with everything the fellow Quincy had just said. Her cause… their cause? So there were others, after all? Were his caretakers aware of this, and if they were, why were they keeping him in the dark? There were many answers he sought now… from Tanya, and from the people he’d thought to be on his side since his family’s slaughter. He waited patiently, taking in the room in a calculated manner until Tanya came back with the drinks, from which he took a sip from his while listening to her further questions.
“You are not incorrect about my family. Their practices were… to say, not up to the standards one would expect of a Quincy. As cold as it is to say, luckily what… happened… occurred early in my training, so I didn’t adopt it very strongly. On the contrary, my family’s leniency on the enemies of the Quincy allowed the Shinigami to get the upper hand on them when they came to wipe us out…” He paused for a moment. “…well, most of us. Myself and my sister, Blu, escaped with our lives, however she has some… unpleasant views about the situation. I haven’t seen her since.” He took a deep breath. He wondered what kind of trouble she was getting into, and if she had come to her senses yet. He took another sip of the tea.
“I miss my family dearly, but they were misguided, and brought their own downfall upon them. In their name, I will continue as a truer Quincy than any of them proved to be.” He looked Tanya in the eyes with fresh determination. “You said something about a job, involving finding others to continue your cause… I am curious to know what cause this is, and how many of you are there?”

This was good. She'd been suspicious about it when Un had announced to her that his family name was Feng. But if he didn't share his family's corrupt and twisted views then perhaps she could persuade him to stay on the correct path. With coffee in hand, Tanya shifted back in her seat, her leg dangling over the right. "Family is not an easy bond to break even if it is for the right reasons... I'm told my mother was a pacifist, though my father adamantly supported all things Quincy. My mother's stance on Hollows wasn't any different than the rest of my bloodline however she believed that our long standing conflict with the Soul Society could be averted if both sides took the time to set aside their differences and speak objectively with one another." Tanya sighed, setting her legs straight and leaning forward in her chair while looking to Blu. "I didn't really know what was going on since I was only eight years old at the time, but one night I woke to the sounds of my father fighting with someone outside the house. My mother took me to their room and gave me a crystal of hers before shoving me under their bed, telling me not to make a sound or come out until daylight. No matter what I heard or saw, she forbid it... She died for her ideals that night, choosing not to fight against Shinigami even then. She left me with a front row seat to her brutal execution... They would have likely killed me too if my mother hadn't used her only dampening crystal to suppress my presence..." The shallow ripples in Tanya's coffee stopped when she placed it on the table and let out a stressed sighed. "That was two hundred years ago. Peace between Quincy and Shinigami is an impossible dream that only idiots and those who blind themselves to the truth cling to. There can be no room for mercy towards these monsters who actively seek out and slaughter innocent lives in the name of their so called balance." Tanya breathed again and took up her coffee once more, taking a drink before addressing Un again. "I've worked for nearly two hundred years since then. My own interests lie in bringing an end to the corrupted ideals of Soul Society. They are not the ones who should be allowed to play God with the lives of this world, Quincy or otherwise. Since Yhwach failed to fulfill the prophecy eight years ago the Vandenreich has been seeking allies among any and all who hold the Gotei 13 in their hearts as an enemy. Though I don't entirely agree with the methods involved in seeking out those not of Yhwach to help us, I still intend to see this through, that the Shinigami who slaughtered my family may know what it's like to see their own blood upon their hands." It was fine... she couldn't ruin her purpose at this point after being granted permission to return to Schatten Bereich. Secrecy at this point mattered little, besides if this boy truly was in line with Quincy ideals then she could bring one more along with her before she left the human world.
"My time in this world as a recruiter is coming to a close within a week. If you desire it, I can seek pardon for your family's disgraceful behavior and allow you reentry into Vandenreich" Un would accept her invitation. Tanya was certain of it. She couldn't afford to have him refuse...
As Un listened to Tanya, more and more he found that they had more in common than he’d originally thought. They both came from families that, at least in part, supported the preposterous idea of cooperation with the Shinigami. Such a thing would never happen… not as long as they clung to their precious balance, as if the corrupted souls of Hollows and those who would hunt the souls of the living deserved such false redemption. But, as Tanya’s tale wove onward, the young Quincy could hardly believe what he was hearing. He felt his heart skip a beat as she spoke, an excitement and sense of purpose he’d never known rising up within him.
The Vandenreich, the holy army of the Quincy… Yhwach, the origin and ruler of the Quincy… such were tales that he’d been told as a child. His parents, despite disagreeing with the actions of Quincy at large, still felt it was important that their children be well-educated in the history of their kind. But Un had always assumed that such a glorious cause was little more than a myth, at best a legend long since dead and buried. But… they were alive? Yhwach and the Vandenreich were alive, and active, to this day? The fact that Tanya suggested that she was over two hundred years old… most would find it unbelievable, but Shinigami could live for centuries. Perhaps it was not so absurd.
“Tanya Wyrdhaven,” Un spoke confidently, jumping to his feet and raising his hand in a salute, assuming it the appropriate gesture towards someone considered worthy to be a recruiter for such a cause, “it would bring me the greatest pride and honor to fight for the Vandenreich and Yhwach’s cause. If their ranks will take me, I will gladly follow and repent for the past mistakes of my family.” He lowered his hand, taking a moment to think things through. All this time, they were real, and active, and… did they know about this? Ever since his adoptive family had taken him in, he’d felt like they were hiding something from him. Did they know?
Un didn’t know what following through with this would mean, but just in case this would mean leaving for some time, he had to know.
“You say your time in this world to find more followers expires within a week? I will need only one day to make preparations.” One day should be more than enough time to find out what he needed to know, and retrieve some personal items from the place he called home. “If I am to be taken in, give me a place to be and a time to be there, and I will not disappoint you.”

Though the boy's sudden movement once she'd finished speaking was startling, Tanya gave no indication of having been startled. As if she'd expected his reaction Tanya returned Un's salute with a simple nod of approval. "Then I shall see to it that your name is cleared and may your efforts from henceforth serve to prove your worth. The Vandenreich would be proud to welcome another Pure blood among their ranks. Though the times are harsh and desperate now, I do foresee a future where Quincy need not fear the over-grasping reach of Soul Society." Standing herself, Tanya proceeded to grant Un Yin Feng an official Vandenreich salute.
"You needn't hurry. The time is set as is the day in which I will be leaving from this place. You may meet me here in the early morning five days from now. Bring with you what you must but I advise traveling lightly to avoid the suspicions of any would be spies." It'd been a long standing interest of Tanya's not to engage in these kinds of talks around her home but now that she could realize her purpose, it seemed a small price to pay. No agents of the enemy had been able to find or identify her in the nearly two hundred years of her serving the Vandenreich. She highly doubted anyone would be watching them even now.
"For now, it is late and I think I'll be retiring to sleep here soon. I do have a guest bedroom that I can show you to. You're welcome to stay here for the night if you so desire." Tanya gestured towards the hallway. Guest bed and bath. Tanya's own room and bath were situated on the second floor. The place might not be much larger than the average home but it'd served Tanya's purposes splendidly the last few years.
