A shifting underneath a warm body, and suddenly sunlight flooded the room. Blu opened her eyes just enough to see, squinting harshly, bringing her bare arm up to cover her eyes. She found that she was, in fact, naked, which it was a rare occurrence that she actually managed to get her clothes off before falling asleep. Unless… rolling over, she found herself in a large, particularly comfy looking bed. Something was up. Eyes opening a little more, but still very, very confused, she looked beyond the bed, and found that she was very clearly in a bedroom, and it was definitely not her own. She didn’t even have a bedroom.
“Morning, sleepy-head,” a girl’s voice said, obviously trying to be cute. It almost worked. The redhead followed the voice, finding a tall, slim girl with bright bleached blonde hair. The mystery of who this girl was seemed almost interesting enough to pursue as a rough “uuuuuuuugh” escaped her lips. She probably looked like a disaster. She felt like a disaster. The blonde girl retreated to the bathroom, looking like she was getting ready to take a shower, or had just gotten out of one… one or the other. Either way, she disappeared into the bathroom, and Blu heard water running, so she had to move fast.
Her clothes, strewn around the floor near the bed, were easy to find and slip back on; shorts, check. Shirt, check. Denim vest, check. She found her backpack near the window, which was convenient, and opened it as quietly as she could, placing one foot outside, finding a fire escape- not necessary, but certainly made her life easier. Just as she was about to close the window, she heard the girl’s voice coming from the bathroom door. “Yuki?” Luckily, she hadn’t come back out yet. She closed the window as quietly as she could and turned around. She wasn’t too high up, but it was still enough to make her fully realize she had a hangover. She shook it off momentarily and jumped over the rail, landing safely on the ground in the alley between buildings, a short sprint leading her around a corner and out of sight.
She took a deep breath in, leaning against the wall, before walking out to the sidewalk and choosing a direction to move in to get her bearings. After a few minutes of her phone not buzzing, she thrust her arms into the air, glad that she had used a fake name and phone number to get that girl, whoever she was. Now she just had to figure out what part of town she was in and where to get some food…
She had barely finished the thought, when she felt an unusual spiritual pressure not too far away.
Oh great, what now?

She'd never given much thought to how much energy her gating ability tended to put off... Had figured it couldn't be much judging by how few people with spiritual awareness actually came to investigate. Then again she usually tried to keep to remote areas where she wouldn't visibly be noticed. Alleyways, school grounds after hours, her old house... Which was where she'd gated to this time. Mitsuoki had told her that allowing herself to be apprehended by members of the Gotei 13 would be treated with extreme prejudice given that the whole of Soul Society was currently in a wartime state of readiness due to their continuing conflict with the Quincy.
She'd felt the resistance when trying to push open her gate wide enough for herself to step through. It was likely some countermeasure or spacial protection the Seireitei had against intruders who attempted to teleport through the barrier that surrounded the Seireitei itself. She'd poured a lot more energy into it than she typically needed to but eventually Shiro had managed to open a portal large enough to fit through. She didn't want to be apprehended and treated like some war criminal just for being curious... Maybe in the future she'd find a more favorable means of entering the Seireitei... She already had trust in Mitsuoki and she was certain he trusted her too... Perhaps in the future he wouldn't mind helping her encourage the Gotei to accept her, if only as a regular visitor. At the very least it would give her visits a better feeling of relaxation. Entering unannounced had obviously been her mistake and she'd underestimated how enthusiastically the place would respond to her intrusion.
Shiro sighed, the gate closing far faster than normal once she released her hold on keeping it open. The place she'd gated to? Her old house, still in shambles after that night her parents were attacked... The place remained surprisingly untouched she noticed, looking to the house. It seemed so foreign to her now that she was looking at it after what, six months time? But she hadn't wanted to return to Las Noches just yet... She entered through the hole near the front door. It wasn't well lit but the morning sunrise was beginning to shed some light on things. She felt a weak presence in the kitchen and decided to investigate. on the countertop and everywhere else that hadn't been exposed to the winds, cobwebs had formed and dust had settled. "You shouldn't be here..." Shiro formed a glow over her drawn katana which shone over the kitchen table. There sat a blackish creature about fist sized in width, a tail and dark features covered its almost mouse-like appearance. But the distinct mask covering its face gave away what it was. It was curious. A hollow this weak likely wouldn't even be able to do much harm even to a regular human... it's beady black eyes locked onto Shiro and it froze in place as the light from her katana fell over it. A half eaten cockroach hanging from its mouth. Turning from the kitchen, Shiro decided to head up to her old room, the hollow darting out of the kitchen and into the shadows the moment Shiro turned her back to it.
Some time later, Shiro sat quietly on her roof just looking, watching the time pass. She hadn't really slowed down enough to just take in her surroundings since the whole spiritual world thing had come into her life... There was so much to think about and she wasn't even sure where to go from here... Looking through her old room and the stuff she'd left behind, Shiro realized how little all of it actually mattered to her anymore... School, friends... Looking at this town now from where she sat, Shiro wondered if she could really fit in with it all now after having been disconnected from it for as long as she had...
The spiritual anomaly wasn’t particularly powerful, nor did it necessarily feel particularly like any particular kind of being, but it was unusual enough that it caught her curiosity. So much even that she almost completely forgot about getting food. So she stopped off at a corner store to pick up a questionable breakfast burrito and began to munch down on it as she made her way towards the source of the anomaly. Soon she came to a moderate two-story house, bound in caution tape and a huge hole next to the front door. The damage didn’t seem particularly recent, but it seemed pretty obvious what would cause that kind of damage, though maybe not to the normal humans that put up the caution tape. The mystery probably served to keep normal people away for the time being.
There were two presences inside, it seemed, and one made a sudden shift by the hole, coming out into the light. A tiny little thing, a little black ball almost rolling into the sunlight, and as it stretched out its body with a tiny squeak of a yawn, Blu’s eyes lit up as she did everything she could to keep herself from letting out a squeal of adorableness. She had never seen a Hollow so tiny and adorable! How could such a thing exist? She approached it quickly; it was so small and its presence so slight that there was no way it could be dangerous. She doubted its Reiatsu was even enough to poison her as Hollows were so known to do in the old days. She offered her hand towards the little creature and it approached, rubbing its tiny little masked head against the back of her hand.
Apparently it was no stranger to people, which only went to reassure her that it was safe. Or maybe the other people had died because of the little creature. But was death by adorable creature not worth it?
Anyway, focusing, she brought her attention to the giant hole and the other presence inside, that was more noticeable, and… strange. It had the faint feel of Shinigami clinging to it, but it definitely wasn’t a Shinigami. She approached with pronounced footsteps, knocking on the front door fairly loudly, while trying to peer in through the giant hole next to it.
“Hello? Anybody home?”
[newclass=.hoveropac]opacity:0.2;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass] [newclass=.hoveropac:hover]opacity:0.95;-webkit-transition: all .7s ease;[/newclass]
"Maybe I should try and look for Sayuri..." Shiro thought to herself. There was no guarantee she could locate the girl, but at the very least there was also no proof to suggest Sayuri was actually dead. She'd been taken to Hueco Mundo against her will, perhaps Sayuri was still there. And if she'd somehow managed to escape her captor then... she might need a way to get back home. Shiro buried the thought that Hueco Mundo didn't have much in the way of edible foods. She wasn't even sure if eating Hollows was a viable option either. They were spirits after all and the last time she'd seen Sayuri she'd still been alive. Shiro made a mental note to start scouring the unforgiving sands and sighed. For the time being she just wanted to relax and get her mind off of the more stressful issues in her life right now.
Shiro's head perked up at the sound of someone shouting into her old house. Now that she regained her focus she could feel the presence of someone else nearby. The little hollow was still around too. Daring little fellow, considering how frightened it'd looked when she'd first spotted it. The fact remained that someone was conveniently interested in a broken and obviously abandoned house. Someone who didn't seem to care much about the obvious cautions and warnings that'd been put up since the house had become abandoned. It was oddly curious and Shiro wondered if it was just a customary greeting the person used to try and see if the place was actually abandoned or if maybe this person somehow knew she was inside? Well not exactly inside, Shiro noted her position on the roof.
Shiro decided to take the quickest rout to the front of the house, walking across the roof before jumping down in front of the gaping hole in the wall which exposed a portion of the old dwelling to the forces of nature. "I'm the only one here right now. I'm... not really sure why you're here but no one's lived in this house for at least six months now." Shiro stood facing the hole and the newcomer's back.
Shiro hadn't yet taken the time to change out of the Squad 6 Shihakusho she'd taken from Kouta and the Katana she always took with her was strapped to her waist. By all accounts Shiro would appear to be Shinigami at first glance. Some of Shiro's long brown hair had shifted over her face and she swept it back over her shoulder with a swish of her hand, equally brown eyes looking to greet the newcomer. Second guessing her approach, Shiro hoped the girl hadn't noticed that she'd just come from the second story roof.
It didn’t take long for a response to come, as a mysterious girl dropped from seemingly the roof and landed behind Blu. She must have overlooked that. Anyway, examining the girl, she was wearing what seemed to be a Shinigami’s robes- which would at least partially explain some of the Reiatsu clinging to her, though Blu had the feeling the story behind it would be interesting if shared- but underneath was definitely a human, though a seemingly powerful one. The girl explained that nobody had lived here for months, and yet within minutes of finding the place the adventurous Quincy had found a living, breathing person at this house, as well as an adorable little pet Hollow.
“And yet, here you are!” Blu said enthusiastically, tilting her head to the side as she offered a friendly smile. “Sorry, felt something interesting out this way and I wanted to come check it out. If I’m intruding on something personal, I can always come back another time. The name's Blu Min Feng, Quincy, but the most laid-back one you'll ever meet! And..." She leaned to the side, looking past the girl, pointing at the small black creature rolling playfully behind her. “Is that your pet Hollow? Cause if not I might adopt the little critter myself.”

Straight forward. Shiro hadn't been prepared for that. "Well... yeah. This place used to be my house, at least it was until it got destroyed..." She shrugged. It didn't really matter anymore, she hadn't considered the place to be her home in over six months now so it felt a bit foreign to her at this point. "No, you're fine. I thought being alone might help but all it's doing is giving me too much time to think about depressing things." It wasn't a lie. Shiro was glad for the interruption and actually kind of wanted to embrace the break from solitude for a change. She'd been doing a lot of things alone recently and maybe that'd had a grossly negative affect on her emotions. "I'm Shiro. Shiro Inazuma. Erm... I know I look like this but, it's really not what you think." Shiro splayed her arms to emphasize her getup and blushed. Maybe she should have made a trip home first to get some proper clothes to wear... Who was she kidding. Anyone familiar with shinigami would know that what she wore was a shinigami's uniform in a heartbeat. Good luck explaining that one away Shiro, she thought to herself.
Shiro was convinced now when Blu Min Feng announced the little hollow's presence, indicating that she was aware of it and was even thinking of adopting it. Either that hollow she'd seen was hiding some extraordinary powers or it was very used to being around people. "Isn't that a bad idea though considering you're a Quincy?" Shiro tipped her head to the side in confusion. This didn't match up with the information she'd learned. Either that or Blu was some form of minority in regards to the all quincy hate hollows cliche. "Sorry, I didn't mean that to be rude... It's just, I thought Hollows were inherently dangerous to Quincy is all..." Honestly though if she'd found the small Hollow critter to be any cuter than it already was, or possessed of witty intelligence like Iiname had been, Shiro might have tried to convince Theocelese to let her keep it.
“Well good, cause I had absolutely no idea what to think about that,” Blu responded to Shiro’s comment on her current outfit. Blu had heard about some group of humans with Shinigami powers running around a while back, but hadn’t seen or heard anything of them as of late. Maybe a failed project run by the Shinigami? “Either way, doesn’t seem like you’re particularly hostile towards me for being a Quincy, regardless of your partnership or lack thereof with the usual wearers of robes like that, so no problems here!” She took one more look back at the house. This girl had lived here a while back… which meant that she was probably right about the cause of the hole, but didn’t want to pry any more than that on what might be a touchy subject.
Instead, she allowed the conversation to flow back to the adorable Hollow rolling around over there. “That’s true, yeah, but I don’t even feel enough Reiatsu coming off of that little guy for it to bother me. And if it does…” She paused for a moment, before beginning to walk over to the little Hollow and pick it up. “…well, I’ve heard of worse ways to go out than the presence of something this CUTE!” She hugged the Hollow tight and then turned back to Shiro. The Hollow squeezed out of her grip and climbed around into an odd perched position on her shoulder. Well, if she wasn’t sure it was used to the company of human companions before, she was pretty sure now.
She did wonder what had come of his previous friends, though.
“Well, anyway, being alone and thinking about depressing things is no fun, and usually doesn’t lead anywhere good. I should know.” Queue flashbacks to slaughtered family and missing brother. “So what say we take a walk and try to make something more interesting and upbeat of your day?”

"Hm..." Well that was good to hear. She'd already gotten herself into enough trouble thanks to her foolish choice to parade through Soul Society's Seireitei area all in the name of curiosity. Stupid curiosity that'd ended in her having to harm a few shinigami to keep from being treated like a complete and total criminal. She was glad she'd run into Mitsuoki during her intrusion because if she hadn't she likely would have allowed herself to be caught under the presumption that they would treat her fairly...
"It was a hollow..." Shiro decided to fill Blu in on the hole since she seemed curious about it. "The one that did this ended up taking the lives of my parents..." Shiro indicated the hole, confirming the reason behind it. She had no reason to doubt Blu could see spirits given her reaction to the rodent-like hollow currently in their presence. "Though I'd always felt like spirits existed, I could never see them before. It's strange to think that was only about a year ago."
She watched the Hollow. It wasn't very strong, and honestly Shiro wasn't sure it was particularly intelligent either... "Is that so..." a worried laugh escaped Shiro as she tried to contemplate why anyone would want to be killed, even if it was at the hands of something considered incredibly cute.
"True, I suppose you have a point... This hasn't been particularly helpful for me so far..." Shiro admitted, referring to the old house. "Ah! but before that... do you mind if I get changed first?" She asked, stepping passed Blu and into the house before heading up to the second floor. Sure she'd grown a bit since living in this house but she was fairly certain most if not all of the clothes she'd left behind would still fit her. Rummaging through drawers and the closet, Shiro managed to find a shirt and a long skirt that fit her. Blue shirt and... dark green skirt...? No She'd never really been very up to date with fashion which worked out for her now since most of what she'd used to wear had been a size larger than the suggested fit. A decision she was glad she'd made. Figured the excuse of 'I'll grow into them' had actually come in handy.
Though it was morning the sun had risen. Shadows were starting to become shorter now. "Sorry for making you wait. I know it looks terrible but these are technically my clothes and I didn't really want to go back home just yet. Staring out into space there is quite a bit more depressing to be honest." Shiro came back down to rejoin Blu (if she hadn't gone up with her to the room.) Not a lie honestly... Looking out into the sands extending beyond Las Noches was inherently depressing, especially if one were lost.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to like… drag up depressing stuff like that, or anything…” Blu averted her eyes, not sure what to do. Her curiosity seemed to have stirred up something better left forgotten, if something like that even could be forgotten. If it had happened only a year ago, then most certainly it wasn’t forgotten yet, at the very least. She merely nodded awkwardly and moved to continue patting the little Hollow on the head as the seemingly human girl walked into the broken house to retrieve clothes. The fact that she had clothes in there seemed odd, what with there being no front door that was actually effective… but when she came out wearing an odd blue shirt and green skirt that didn’t match so well, causing Blu to struggle to hold in a laugh, she assumed that the girl was living somewhere else now and that pickings here were slim.
“I’ve seen worse,” Blu reassured her. Huh, at least some people lucked out and found new homes to go to after having your own home taken away from you, Blu thought. But that was not a matter for now… besides, Blu enjoyed her more, to say, nomadic lifestyle, though she wouldn’t mind a consistent place to be able to fall back on. Regardless, today wasn’t about her now. She’d found another kindred soul to try to cheer up!
“The name’s Blu, by the way,” Blu said casually, waving in a friendly and nonchalant manner, “Blu Min Feng. Nice to meet ya!”

Even Shiro could see the disaster of a wardrobe this house still had of hers and knew better than to expect it to be up to par with the modern outlook. Though Shiro had no way of being certain about it, she was pretty sure the other girl was holding back a desire to laugh at her state of attire even though she'd given a vote of confidence at having seen worse before. "Are you sure this is alright? I know the colors don't really match but... you think it'll be okay...?" Shiro asked, lifting the hem of the skirt and twisting it a little to emphasize the attire. She could feel her face getting hot. There was no way this was okay right? Maybe she should have gone back to Las Noches and gotten some proper clothes after all... Shiro decided to cross examine herself in a broken mirror against the living room's far side wall, furthest from the hole. The frayed pieces of mirror did little to help Shiro's confidence on the matter.
"It's nice to meet you Blu, my name's Shiro, Shiro Inazuma." Shiro turned to Blu and gave a little curtsy. An action she instantly regretted, if only for the fact it didn't help alleviate how embarrassed she felt right now. "S-so... where would you like to walk to? Any place in particular? Or maybe we should just walk so we can get out of this place?" Shiro suggested their immediate first walk to get away from the house. It was a place filled with memories for Shiro. Many of them good, some bad. And now some new awkward memories to take with her. Yeah making new memories in this place was probably not the best idea anymore. Best to leave it in the past where it belonged.
Despite hiding the Shihakusho away in her room where she'd retrieve it later, Shiro still donned her Katana. There was no way she would go anywhere without it. Even before all the events that'd taken place in her life recently, she'd still periodically taken wooden training swords along with her wherever she went.
