Destruction followed in its wakes of indescribable natural power, as the crackling thunder roars eminently so. The crushing descent falls at greats speeds and velocity to the ground below, showering relentlessly upon the streets dimly lit solely upon the flickering flashes that scatter the pitch sky above. The masses had since diminished upon the great storms arrival; however, the presence of the few still appeared running amuck the destructions vicinity. One of the few moves diligently among the devastation with great haste, as the drenched black garb upon him bounces vigorously against the gusts that so desperately oppose its counterpart.
Masked deep within the roars above sounds a screech like no other, one of which that so effortlessly caught the attention of the individual at haste. The man’s attention vered off its current path as his feed suddenly turn at an angle to dash down an alleyway. His hands reach nervously for the firearm that accompanied his waistline, and his eyes scan the rooftops in either direction upon reaching a dead end.
Devastation would soon accompany the buildings overhead as the sounds of a crackling cry can be heard descending from above. A beast of immense size had suddenly appeared upon the scene and since scaled the building with massive claws that caused destruction in such a descent. The young man made all attempts to depart from his current location while releasing multiple bullets from his firearm; however, it was begrudgingly so that the beast would merely launch towards his location in response. “Just a little closer.” A voice sounds in the form of a murmur just as the towering monster did close in towards its prey, all the while the jaws of the beast salivated with great intensity for a meal so easily obtained.
Just as the two would be within range to clash with one another a snickering grin accompanied the face of the once nervously trembling man. It was almost an instantaneous transformation from fear to a sense of accomplishment that presents a certain signifying glow which surrounds his being. The barrel of his firearm would then flash a bright hue before sending out a large exponential blast upon the towering beasts skull, severing the head of the giant so to speak.
Mitsuoki turned his head and narrowed his gaze at the bellowing cry of a hollow that he heard across the winds. There was a hollow that was currently dangling from the end of his unreleased zanpakuto that he gently removed and said "That's the fourth one in the last two hours." in a soft tone, naturally not speaking to anyone but himself. He flicked his sword, sending the blood flying before sheathing it and vanishing with his flash step, leaving the dissipating hollow behind him.
It was a fair distance away and each time the hollow sounded off made Mitsuoki feel like he had failed yet another person, with Haruka, Michino, and himself being the first three. No matter what mission he was on, no matter how many hollows he killed, no matter how fast he got to them and killed them, he had always failed all three of them. Nothing was good enough for Mitsuoki to change that line of thinking...
He had stopped atop a roof, looking down at a human who had somehow made the hollow begin reeling back in pain whilst shouting obscenities at him. He hadn't seen what happened before, only heard the sounds of gunfire that he had confused for thunder since he had no prior experience with firearms. They were somewhat rare in the soul society, even rarer than dual wielded zanpakuto, like his.
The hollow seemed to have a thicker shell than others of its class since its mask was cracked severely, rather than the entire head being destroyed. Mitsuoki saw the creature vanish in a black portal, returning to Hueco Mundo to regenerate, most likely. He slowly his left hand on his sword's hilt in preparation for the hollow's return, knowing that the beasts had a very primal means of dealing with enemies they couldn't kill quickly. Mitsuoki raised his right palm with his blade's hilt in his left, extending the palm in the direction of the human and began chanting, speaking in a very hushed tone that would require highly trained ears to hear. "Ye Lord... Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man... Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws-"
Mitsuoki paused with a blue orb appearing at the front of his palm, waiting for it to happen... A black portal appeared behind the human and Mitsuoki immediately said "Hadō thirty three, Sōkatsui!" The blast of blue flames shot forward, barreling towards the portal and impacting the hollow just as it emerged, sending the creature flying backwards and sliding on its back. "Bakudō eight, Shitōtsu Sansen!" he declared with a triangle drawn in light directly in front of his body, a beak-like protrusion sticking from each corner. The beaks shot out and impacted the hollow's arms and midsection, pinning it to the ground.
Mitsuoki vanished and appeared standing on top the hollow's chest with the hole a few centimeters behind his heel. He looked down at the creature with the same cold, elegant expression that nobles always seemed to have in this world. "I will spare you the usual lecture that others would force you to endure, hollow. Do not forgive me, for I am committing murder in the name of peace." Mitsuoki pointed two of his fingers at the hollow's face. "Hadō twenty six, hidenkō." he said and a crimson lightning bolt shot from Mitsuoki's fingers and went straight through the mask.
The hollow began dissipating into black particles and Mitsuoki slowly floated back down to the ground while removing his hand from the hilt of his zanpakuto. He looked to the moon briefly before letting out a sigh and walking away. If the human had called out to him, Mitsuoki would pause and look at the man, saying "You are clearly not dead, human. Are you certain that you are able to see me, and are not currently dreaming?" in the same aloof tone that he had used with the hollow.
Ugh seriously... what was up with this Shinigami today? Nadezhda watched the scene unfolding before him from a safe, undetectable distance away. Though he would still be visible to them if they were actively looking but regardless he sat upon a distant rooftop watching, growing more and more irritated. Not just one, two, or even three... but four meals this damned reaper had stolen from him thus far... He was beginning to think this one was taunting him. But he'd done well up to this point in avoiding conflicts with these reapers. The last thing he wanted to do was tangle with their ilk when all he really wanted to do was enjoy a good meal.
"Well whatever..." The interactions of humans were always entertaining to watch. Some, like the one he could currently see near the Shinigami, seemed to be more capable than others. While he could pass off his illusions to them as being something called cos-play, Nadezhda tended to avoid such humans as much as possible. With the growing population of humans, he'd noticed an equally increasing difficulty in avoiding the eyes of those who happened to be spiritually aware. Judging from the fact that this one had just tried his hand at fighting a hollow, Nadezhda was quite sure he was about as spiritually aware as the Shinigami himself...
Bored of chasing after hollow just to have his quarry dispatched, the hollow decided to entertain himself for a bit by keeping a low profile and watching instead. If there was one thing entertaining about Shinigami, it was how often they tried to feign ignorance of spiritually adept humans. Besides the Shinigami probably wouldn't stick around too long and hollow were everywhere. With enough patience he would still have time to initiate a hunt in lieu of the reaper's efforts.
Thunder would roll throughout the vicinity whilst masking the sounds of gunfire, as the beasts cries of suffering can be heard amongst its attempts of retreat. His gun readied once more to take aim upon the head of the behemoth that stood before him; however, his efforts would prove to be in vain. A sigh escapes the lips of the pursuer as his eyes gaze upon his enemies retreat within a newfound gaping hole of darkness that would fade no sooner than it had appeared.
Within mere moments that came to pass preceding this particular turn of events came the appearance of a new face, which made what one could only assume to be the ramblings of the clinically insane. When his eyes come to meet the presence of his profound follower things seemingly began to make sense. Yet again had Alistair found himself alongside the accompanying kimono bearing samurais that so frequently paraded the outskirts of his residing hometown; begrudgingly so, that their effortless attempts to have their hands at his target practice most usually ended in a similar manner. They always had a habit of interfering before departing without so much as noticin his existence, but in this particular day he’d a different idea in mind.
Alistair stood with his firearm carefully at place whilst waiting for the opportunity to take aim. He knew as well as his cosplaying newfound ally so to speak, that the beast these samurai occasionally referred to as hollow, would make its return in due time. However, no sooner than the gaping hole would resurface, did the man in the middle of the ongoing conflict step forth to claim the glory of a confirmed kill. His firearm stayed steady while watching the events unfold before him, and so did the beast cease its existence upon the wrath of ones fingertips.
It was at this point that the samurai would begin to make its departure, so accustomed to their ways as to leave the scene of the battle without so much as a singular word more so to speak. But this time the detective had enough of their mysterious ways, and would let a singular blast proceed from his gun as a form of warning. “You claim my kill then walk away without so much as a word?” It was at this point that a wrinkle soon appears upon the forehead of alistair, a much deserved response to the mockery of his certainty to the events that had surely transpired. “Rest assured that I know of your existence, just as much as the ridiculousness of your proclaimed reality . So tell me, why is it that you question my capability to defeat my own prey in this night?”his weapon soon lowers to his side;however , the detectives grip remained firmly upon the firearm in case the situation went against his best interests.
Mitsuoki had turned around while looking the man directly in his eyes, showing no signs of being intimidated by his hand on his weapon. Alistair would see Mitsuoki stepping closer with no change to his cold expression. "I find your reality to be more ridiculous than mine. Right now, if someone saw you discharge that weapon, another human who was normal, would they see you firing at me? Or, would they see a man randomly discharging his weapon at an empty patch of air? Do your cohorts see the things you see? Or, are you stuck in a purgatory that exists somewhere bordering madness and enlightenment?"
Mitsuoki had paused for a second before continuing "Your ability to kill is of no concern to me. I do not know you well enough to gauge it. I kill them because I am ordered to, that is all. I have answered your question, so it is my turn to ask one without rhetoric. What do you know of my 'ridiculous reality' and the enemy that you just encountered?" The entire time he was using a calm and level tone. It was harsh and slightly arrogant, but cold and emotionless at the same time. His eyes carried the same feel, still having not a single drop of fear of Alistair's weapon, even though it had already been proven that the firearm was more than capable of harming him.
His intention wasn't to make Alistair feel dumb or like a lesser being, it was a genuine query. He wanted to know just how much the human knew, so that he could fill in some of the gaps and help the human understand more. There was also the possibility that the human had been misinformed of certain details or had his view on the soul reapers skewed by one of the various factions that detest them.
They seemed to be talking now... Both were curious creatures to Nadezhda. On the one hand the Shinigami made to leave but seemed to decide against it when the human fired off his gun and proceeded to shout at the reaper. Like himself, most Shinigami appeared to prefer going unnoticed. Though in similar situations he'd noticed a lot of their close encounters typically ended up with at least someone noticing them. They may hunt as he hunted but Nadezhda quietly scoffed at their general lack of efficient stealth.
His thoughts quickly turned to the instinct of the hunt as the resounding roar of another hollow echoed from somewhere beyond the two conversationalists. "Keh..." The hidden Hollow gritted his teeth in irritation. Surely the Reaper would have noticed and would soon be in pursuit of yet another of his potential quarry. He'd begun to have enough of this seeker game they were playing. He wouldn't allow the Shinigami a chance to pursue this one as well.
Taking a step off the building's roof, Nadezhda descended, instantly changing momentum and propelling himself forward. Towards the two he dashed until he came within range. The old Hollow planned to do just enough damage to limit this Reaper's ability to chase his quarry and then be on his way towards his true target. The human's presence felt weak. He would be of no consequence to Nadezhda's efforts as he chose to ignore him.
Forcing Reiatsu into his legs, Nadezhda launched himself towards the Shinigami at blindingly fast speeds. Though the Shinigami, and maybe even the human might be able to glimpse his humanoid form before it faded. The illusion quickly replaced itself with Nadezhda's true form. Black fur and trails of purple and blue energies leaked from his eyes and mouth. His large and shapely wolf body came into view, his hollow mask with seemingly mysterious symbols covered the length of his forehead.
Claws shot forward, seeking to thread the musculature of the Shinigami's legs with a mixture of some of his own energies in an attempt to disrupt the Reaper's movements.
