Abha took in a deep breath as she rode an elevator to the top of the highest building in all of Naruki. Going as high as she could go as a civilian, the used Reishi infused musculature to jump higher and higher as she climbed an additional five or so stories. She did not want to be disturbed by the average man who wanted a romantic view with his love interest. Her purpose at this altitude was simply not for sight seeing. As beautiful as the city scape might be at this hour, she had far more important business to uphold. A simple contact to join Wandenreich was weighing heavy on her mind. The woman merely felt unprepared. Even with all of the training her father forced her through on a day to day basis, she just did not feel up to the quality she needed it to be at. That was why she was here: to resolve such worries.
After taking a comfortable seat on the cool concrete of the building, she exhaled a cloud of chilled vapor as she raised a finger to her right earlobe. With a simple flick across the soul synthesized silver located in her earring, a flow of reishi would shift and form metallic helmet with a transparent blue visor over her brown eyes. The supercomputer came to life as various figures darted across the screen. The temperature outside was 7º C, the wind speed of 30kmph, and a good accumulation of reishi present which would allow her to gain good degree of accurate readings. “Perfect,” she muttered as her left hand reached for a simple coin within her pocket. It was Hollow Bait. Though it was not something she enjoyed using as it created a certain risk for civilians, it would be required for this. Giving it a good flick, the coin tossed through the air as it slowly dissolved.
Unlike most who used this item, Abha wasn’t here to use it as bait for Hollows to fight. Oh heavens no! She didn’t want to risk exposure like that. She instead wanted to watch the Shinigami’s reaction to an increase in Hollow activity. It was time for them to earn their paychecks. And if a few were greatly injured or died as a result, that would only be a greater victory for her race’s cause. In many ways, it could easily be seen as a win-win scenario: she would grow stronger and their numbers grew smaller. Maybe she would need to this kind of training far more often? There just didn’t seem to many downsides to it.
The first of the demonic creatures would show up a good five minutes after the bait was released. The high altitude made them stay high from the city as they roamed around for the source of the concentrated spiritual energy that lured them to the area. Masked under the “Godly Veil of Unslighty Flesh,” she felt completely secure and undetectable. But as the number of purple little dots showed up on her radar it made her wonder when the Shinigami even would begin to respond. They couldn’t just let such a large accumulation of Hollow go unchecked. Or were they more heartless than she thought?

She was about to worry and admit that her decision planning in this situation had gone horribly wrong…but luckily red dots slowly began popping up on the screen of her visor. The Shinigami finally were responding. Hopefully they weren’t paid hourly wages. Their response time was horribly slow and it would be something that she would account for in the future. A soft blue light would form underneath her hands as keyboards were generated. Slender well-manicured fingers typed rapidly at an impressive words-per-minute as she located the nearest Soul Reaper and zeroed in on their coordinates. This caused her visor to scan in and magnify just what exactly she was looking for. This specific target was a woman who didn’t physically appear much older than a high school student. With souls, she knew looks could very well be deceiving. Very easily she could be hundreds of years older.
That very fact made her want to cough up bile, making her quite sick to her stomach. Why was it that these horrible beings could live forever while folks of her race only lived normal lives, if you could call hiding and concealing your very purpose living. Abha gritted her teeth slightly before focusing back on her task. Her job here wasn’t to become angered by the Shinigami. It was to watch them and analyze their tactics. And this woman would be her first guinea pig.
Her visor focused down on her and watched every movement that she made as she worked out various algorithms to find those that would be the most beneficial to her in the future. She monitored movement and overall technique as she swung her sword to slice into the Hollow or to parry against their attacks. She took note of how her spiritual pressure would change as she charged up and released their form of spellcraft. It admittedly amazed Abha at just how similar it was to Ginto in functionality. Except it didn’t involve those silver tubes currently located within her pockets. What surprised her the most was how the woman seemed to change once she spoke some words and shifted the appearance of her sword into that of a long electrified whip.
“So they have more up to their sleeves than I realized,” she said as she typed out some a few more data for her notes. She doubted this Shinigami was special enough that she was the only one among their race that could alter their zanpakuto. It must be something all of them could do with at least some training. As she examined the other few individuals clad in black kimono, they too did the same. Axes, polearms, ornate swords….all of them had a unique form. She supposed it was like assuming all Quincy could only form a Bow and Arrow. How dare she stereotype.
But just as she was about to punch in another log of data, a slimy pile of liquid dripped onto her shoulder. Shifting her focus up, her eyes widened as she stared directly at a pair of sharp dagger like teeth that smiled sinisterly at her. “Well don’t you look appetizing,” it growled before snapping to take a bite.

Abha saw her life flash right before her eyes. The Hollow was just too close for her to personally dodge. Here she was, just about to die without ever accomplishing her goals or avenging the disgrace that was her family but as a groan of pain filled the air she was surprised that she wasn’t the one who made it. Opening her eyes, she saw that beast held back by that electrified whip she had been analyzing only moments ago. The woman took this opportunity to quickly shift off her perch and fall down to a safer level the exact moment as the demon was decapitated and disappeared into the ether. She barely had time to even to contemplate an apology as that whip quickly shifted to attack her. The Quincy was nimble and easily avoided the blows that sliced scars into the concrete of the building. “So you’re the one that started this mess?”
The Indian woman merely nodded her head. “You are correct. It was a dull evening. Merely thought I would enjoy some entertainment,” she mused softly. “Leave it to the Shinigami to put on a good show. Those weapon changes were quite an unexpected surprise. I should research your kind more often. Though, at this rate, I won’t have many research subjects.” Abha stated this as the red dots on her radar slowly disappeared. The Hollow weren’t particularly strong but they were certainly of a high number and were slowly overwhelming the three other Soul Reapers that had responded to the Hollow activity.
This remark angered the whip-wielding Shinigami. She too could sense the death of her friends and colleagues as mask-wielding beasts ripped their bodies in halves and consumed whatever was left. They suffered a violent murder but that was what Soul Society got for not properly training their soldiers. Just as Abha lowered her Veil and focused the reishi she was using for it into her veins, the Shinigami attacked. After her study, she had to admit those attacks were fairly predictable. Her visor’s algorithms were able to read each of her movements and gave her enough time to react to each one before they got close to her. Defensive maneuvers were nice and all that but it would not be how she would win this fight.
Seeing through her techniques, Abha raised her right hand to her visor just as the Shinigami rose her hand. With a burst of pressure, she released a beam of an arrow that shot forward. The unconventional projectile caught her off guard and struck her just inferior to her wrist and sliced through it like a hot knife through butter. She screamed out in pain as her hand went limp and dropped her signature weapon as it fell hundreds of feet to the ground below. Smirking at her successful shot, she took aim for another that would be aimed right for her chest but her move was too predictable. Like a coward, the Shinigami stepped away and disappeared right before her eyes. “And to think I wasn’t even given a chance to thank her for saving my life.”

Though the woman disappeared from sight with the aid of her shunpo, she hadn’t disappeared from detection. It appeared that shinigami was as adapt at hiding her spiritual pressure. She could practically feel it coming up from below. The only issue was that Abha was unable to directly pinpoint her specific spot, only the general location. She could give chase, yes, but she unfortunately would only be outran. She really needed to learn how to utilize Hirenkyaku. But that was a matter for another day. In the mean time, she would have to come up with another play. If only she had more eyes to help get the jump on the woman. Her first thought was to hack the cameras and utilize those to her assistance but that just wasn’t as effective as she would want it to be. Then a lightbulb went off. What if she could make her own cameras?
Manipulating the reishi in her visor, she caused a simple glob of the energy-constructed metal to branch off and form into a simple sphere with a lens. With some programing and synchronization with her supercomputer, she eventually caused a window on her visor’s screen to show a video feed. The action caused a smirk to radiate on her face. It even allowed her to use it as a mirror of sorts to fix a piece of hair that had shifted out of place. Vanity was well deserved when you were vastly superior to everyone else after all. She generated two more duplicates of these handy cameras. Perhaps she formed it just at the nick of time. As the last one synched up, it caught sight of a Hollow swiping its claw in her general direction. She was just barely able to cartwheel out of reach and unsheathe her Seele Dolche to cut cleanly into its arm before blasting it into nonexistence with an arrow. “I’ll have to sharpen this…” she thought aloud to herself. She wanted to dismember, not merely cut.
It seemed her focus on creating new tools had allowed what few remaining Hollow to find their next victim. Unfortunately for her, it seemed she was their intended next snack. This would delay her hunting. But only open up the opportunity to truly take advantage of her new toys. Scattering her sentries in all angles, the woman effective increased her visual range to cover nearly all of her blindspots. It allowed her to always be able to respond to the masked demons’ attacks or get the surprise attack on the ones that thought they were being super sneaky and crafty. She did notice that her analyzation struggled to keep up with multiple targets so she would have to focus on one by one when she wished to land a proper hit. One by one they fell to a blast of her gazing lazers. But the last was a bit tougher.
When her arrow struck it, the hollow seemed tanky enough to hold it at bay. In response, she twisted a dial and shifted from a small projectile to an actual beam. This gave her enough time to grab a tube from her belt. “Pierce my enemies with Godly Rage - Verfolg!” she chanted as she flicked the tube towards the hollow. Unable to react to both her beam-like arrow and the incoming attack, it muttered a swear as the tube exploded and shifted into an energetic spear that pierced right through its torso. This weakened it enough that he was quickly finished by her original attack. Pursing her lips together and a little hmph of frustration, she looked down. The shinigami was next.

With her sentries at her side, Abha would begin leaping down from ledge to ledge using her Blut Vene to absorb the impact of every leap. For those that were a bit too far to handle on her own, she used her spirit weapon to create a simple platform here and there to make things far more easy upon herself. No one wanted a broken leg over some thing as trivial as a Shinigami. If the woman hadn’t caught her as the reason for the Hollow, she wouldn’t have given her a chase in the first place. The last thing she wanted was for the race to discover that Quincy were still alive and cause another massacre. They probably wouldn’t be able to survive another attempt to slay their race. That is the main reason they needed to unite and be able to defend themselves should such a day occur.
Upon reaching the ground, the Quincy sent her sentries out searching of that pesky Shinigami. Her spiritual pressure was still in the area. It was just a matter of triangulating to get her actual location. Forming numerous keypads underneath her fingers, the woman typed out various codes and sequences as she used her additional “eyes” to peer outward and gather data from multiple fronts. Eventually, all of it narrowed down to that of a hallway. Just to make sure, she sent one sentry around the building to gain feed from the back as she and the rest went through the front. Near the middle was the Shinigami clutching to her dismembered hand as she rapidly tried to get a signal on what seemed like a cellular device. The moment she realized that Abha was there, she quickly dropped everything and grabbed her sword that shifted back into that whip.
“You going to be able to fight me with your non-dominant arm?” mused Abha as she drew her dagger with a reverse grip in her right hand and used her left to form a keyboard to punch in the orders for her sentries. She theorized that since they were formed from her spirit weapon, she just might be able to fire arrows through them. She was not a person that enjoyed not having all the information at hand. But in battle, sometimes you just had to rely on what you had.
The Shinigami chuckled a little bit. “Just so happens I’m ambidextrous,” retorted the soul reaper as she made the first move. With a shift of her left arm, she lashed the whip forward with good aim. A few keystrokes made the turrets shift out of the way before she used the keyboard as a makeshift shield to knock the weapon away. This deactivated it in a near instance but allowed Abha to dart forward with great speed. She knew the weaknesses in whips was that they were hardly useful at close range. But it seemed that the close range was what the Shinigami wanted. Just as she was about to strike a bolt of electricity ran through her body and locked her in place. “Game over bitch,” she cooed as she retreated her whip and prepared to strike. The moment she did was only met with a groan of pain and a smirk of some lips.
“Never heard the expression, don’t count your chickens until they hatch?”

While that strike against her life was just prepared to be made, the sentry located right behind the Shinigami acted out and fired an arrow. She hadn’t quite figured out the proper amount of reishi to push into the attack so it unfortunately was not lethal but it still hurt like a bitch. It caused the woman to slouch forward in pain. It also had the lovely effect of interrupting her focus on her binding technique allowing Abha to try her assault again only for the woman to Shunpo away. Her sensors allowed her to find her outside of the rear hallway entrance. She merely guessed that the wound she had inflicted didn’t exactly allow her to run too far. Good. She was tired of the cowardly actions the Soul Reaper was making.
Bleeding from a hole in her back and the occasional dribble from her right wrist, the Shinigami swished and flicked her whip in a constant motion to prevent her opponent from getting any closer. Abha recognized that melee range would not work. As long as she stayed out of the Shini’s mid-range, she would be fine. Her senties triangulated around her, moving slowly as they took aim. This time her shots would hold enough strength to kill her. That previous test shot was all that she needed.
Just as she was about to fire, the Shinigami acted quickly. She swiped her whip and from it came an arching blade of electrical energy that sliced right through her forward facing “eye.” Though she adjusted the other two to fly to a safer range while firing arrows down upon her, the electric swipes lacerated through both of them before any damage really could be done. All three vanished with a blue flash of light as they restored to their original form of spiritual energy. Abha took a step back, admittedly caught of guard. That was all of the opening her opponent needed as she whipped one right towards her.
Abha barely had the time to gather additional reishi and use it to form a Tokutonki. It absorbed a good blunt of the offense and shielded her quite well. More importantly it granted her the opportunity to let her visor get a good up and close look of the attack before she jumped away just as the shield shattered. Had she waited any longer, she would have been struck. And a foe of this caliber was just not worthy enough to cause her to shed any blood. “Impressive. I’ll admit,” spoke Abha as she generated more of her sentries. “You almost got me there. Unfortunately, your entertainment has come to bore me. Any last words before I take your life?” The black-wearing woman merely scowled slurs and lashed out at her with another blow. This time, it didn’t seem to make it very far.
Unafraid of it this time around, the Quincy made no efforts to shift her sentries away. They instead just floated along beside her and charged up their arrows while her fingers typed rapidly for her next action. From her body she’d release a strong wave of reishi, similar to an emp. The moment it connected, the energetic attack simply vanished with a flash of light. Before she could say anything, her three sentries blasted three large holes through her body as the last of her life expelled as a cough of blood from her lips. Her corpse merely fell back in a slump, whip shifting back to its original sword form.
“Tsk tsk, my dear. Weren’t you aware Quincy are experts at analyzing the composition of spiritual energy? Such a shame. You might have been able to beat me if you didn’t underestimate me from the start. Thank you for the evening. It was certainly thrilling.”

Abha approached the deceased body slowly, kicking the sword away just incase she was good at faking opossum. With how cowardly she had been, constantly running, the woman couldn’t be too careful. But judging by her blank expression spread across her deadened eyes, she had nothing to worry about. But to make sure nothing was left she’d have a sentry shot a small bolt towards the robe just to spark a fire. It fed off her reishi and before she knew it, the corpse would be engulfed in a sapphire flame and burned away until nothing remained. She even tossed in that sword. Clean-up duty was important for the few times Quincy engaged in battle. The less evidence left behind, the less likely their enemies would learn to counter their ways. The woman waited until she made sure everything was burned away before returning to the hallway to do the same to the dismembered hand. Most importantly, she wanted that cellular device.
A quick ride home allowed her plenty of time to examine the external features working on the interior the moment she arrived at her study. The fall from the shinigami dropping it had broken the receiver and killed the device. She knew little of how it was powered and her knowledge of technology was limited enough that she was unsure how she’d be able to fix it. The one thing it did give her was some ideas.
Abha attached a few wires of soul-synthesized materials to it and then to her supercomputer. It was effectively a much larger version of her visor and with it was offered a vastly larger amount of processing power. Unlike human transmission technology that worked on radio waves, the signals produced by the phone was of a completely undiscovered (by man at least) wavelength. Though it took her all night, she came to the conclusion of how to integrate and produce it with her visor. Her first few tests were with her own technical devices. She was able to send a simple text message that evolved into 250 characters. That part was easy. Pictures and eventually video was far more complicated but certainly manageable.
By the time it was nearly 4 in the morning, she was able to send and respond to practically any form of electronically or spiritual device. Its use was fairly supplementary, but she was sure it would pose some use in the future.
Burning the phone just like she had done the rest of the Shinigami’s things, the Quincy retreated into her home to fix a nice cup of tea and draw up a warm bath. As she soaked, she thought about the night’s events and how much she had grown. Her father would love to hear about how she was able to murder a Shinigami and take out three hollow singlehandedly. Perhaps she would call him with her new tech come the following morning. Until then, it was time to rest and recuperate for what tomorrow might bring. She did, after all, have a meeting to attend to.
