How long had it been since she'd last seen the human world? The sun beat down heavily on the crowded streets as Sam dipped and weaved in and out of people hustling about. Never had she been selected to go on patrol before but the streets of Karakura Town seemed fairly devoid of Hollow activities during the day. Barring that, Sam's free-time during the day was pretty much guaranteed and she'd spent the better part of it in awe of how much the world had changed. Soul society had visually and technologically remained pretty much the same for her the last three hundred years but the Human world!? Sam couldn't begin to believe how many changes there had been.
Metal, horseless carriages carried people at speeds she could only have thought of as unimaginable during her lifetime. People walked by in all manner of clothes and gadgets that seemed magically powered by electricity. She'd intentionally picked a place where mostly normal humans gathered. She wasn't here of her own free will, so being noticed would likely be a troubling dilemma. Sam had just spotted what she was looking for and didn't want to be noticed as she approached anyway.
The storefront was intricately designed, bright colors lining the window trim and doorway in strangely a wavy fashion. Sam couldn't remember ever seeing specialty stores like this back when she was alive. The Shinigami couldn't help but let out an excited but stifled squeal at all the artifacts staring back out at her. They measured anywhere from a couple inches to a few feet in height, their soft looking down plush just begging to be held and snuggled. One in particular, it's fur an unnaturally pink color, eyes a beady baby blue, made Sam's eyes shine and glitter at how adorable it looked.
Sam would need to remember this place for when she had a day off. Stepping back from the store she instantly memorized the store's title; The Fluffy Bear.

"Hello little mouse." Gwen's smile erupted into a wicked grin as she stepped out through the garganta. She was wearing a crisp set of uniform, pure white, and highly stylish. It was reminiscent of the SS uniform the Germans used to wear during the second world war, but instead of a swastika, a pentacle adorned it instead. She had been in Hueco Mundo, assisting the Jagdarmee with their operations there, and one particularly feisty and desperate hollow had formed a portal, trying to escape by any means necessary. She had followed and exterminated it, and had been interested to see where it lead. Perhaps to allies?
But no, all she found at the other end was spirits' favourite haunt, Karakura town. And within that place, a little shinigami, all on her own. She seemed to be squealing and oogling at a teddy bear shop. Oh how banal. Gwen was really going to come across as the enemy here. She straightened her cap, and clasped both hands behind her back, still grinning menacingly at the shinigami. Did she have any idea what was about to happen? The shinigami were still so carelessly leaving their forces out in the open, alone, unguarded like this. It was as though they had no appreciation for the fact that this... This was a war. And as far as Gwen was concerned, she was on the winning side.
"What's a little mouse like you doing so far from home?" she asked, before performing a sonido to get close to Sam, and then aiming a backhand at her face, intended to knock her straight through the shop window causing mass panic and hysteria. If the blow landed it would smart especially due to Gwen's rock-hard Hierro. She considered killing the shinigami there and then but no... That wouldn't send the right message at all.

She'd been foolish enough to let her guard down thinking nothing would approach in the middle of the day and cause problems.
Sam heard the taunt before she sensed the Arrancar's presence. Felt the pain from the backhand that sent her flying through the store window before she could even attempt to avoid. The glass window shattered, people screamed in surprise and confusion. Many of the nearby people cleared the area, only a few stood looking at the store window, confusion wracking their brains as they tried to figure out why the window had seemingly exploded inward for no particular reason.
"Keh...! Sam spat out a small amount of blood. The force of the unexpected blow that'd sent her flying was gently cushioned by a giant plush teddy bear, now laying crushed underneath the shinigami's unseen weight.
Recovery was key. One Shunpo step later, she was atop the unfortunate shop, Shikai drawn. Whoever this person was, they were either out for sport or out for blood and she would not allow herself to be crushed so easily. Especially not when it threatened to interrupt the leisure time she'd planned out for herself.
Sam's cheek rang with pain, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, a clear sign that she'd accidentally bitten herself when the Arrancar struck. "What's your purpose here?" She demanded through gritted teeth, bringing both hands down to firmly grip her shikai.

An aggressive punch of static. Gwen exited her sonido in front of the shinigami on the rooftop, so much so that the two were face to face, only inches separating them. Gwen's icy blue eyes bored into Sam's face. Any blow that came her way would be parried using only her rock hard skin, deflecting any attacks with deft movements. Gwen moved almost imperceptibly fast compared to Sam, such was the power gradient between them.
"To send a message." Smirked Gwen. "I need you to hit me with your strongest blow. All the strength and power you can muster." If Sam had not moved away at this point her voice would have settled almost into a whisper, her voice dripping with sensuality. "Anything less than your best efforts... And you're going to die." She remarked. Indeed, if Sam didn't take this seriously, there was every chance she could die. Gwen's reiatsu was serious and hot and the temperature around them even then had soared to a level that was uncomfortably warm and dehydrating.
She needed to make sure that there were no doubts in Sam's mind that she was dead. That no matter what she did now, her life was absolutely and utterly in Gwen's hands- this entire exercise was a demonstration of her power. If she had to torture her for that, then she would, no qualms.

This was bad. No sooner did Sam move to the roof, the offending Arrancar made her appearance. The all too close distance between them was stifling she taunted the Shinigami with a presence sent disturbed chills running rampant down Sam’s spine.
“Keh…!” Sam jumped back roughly five feet from the Arrancar, tightening the grip on her shikai. This one’s reiatsu was a terrifying force of pressure that weighted forebodingly heavy on the Shinigami’s senses. This was no ordinary opponent, sweat dripping down Sam’s neck as her mind screamed to her, warning her about just how much she was outclassed right now.
”I always thought the Hollows were senseless killers. This just goes to show that being stronger and being self aware does nothing for your murderous nature. At the end of the day you’re all just mindless killers aren’t you!” Sam spat, not mincing any words. There didn’t seem to be any point to gauging their difference. Even released Sam could tell she stood little to no chance of escaping this encounter alive. ”I never thought one as strong as you would stoop to kicking up anthills.” The words stung, in more ways than one. Sam gritted her teeth, angry and frustrated, she’d given up on fear a long time ago, it didn’t suit her now. If this Arrancar attacked with full power then she’d stand no chance in hell of surviving a direct blow…

"Didn't you fucking hear me?" Gwen asked her, enraged. She shot a Bala at the shinigami's chest, which given their relative difference in strength, would most likely feel something akin to getting hit by a train. Gwen had reigned it in a touch though, if she killed the little shinigami now this whole exercise would be utterly pointless. Though she really did need to drown the shinigami in a pit of despair. She would perform a sonido to appear behind Sam unless she somehow managed to dodge the bala coming at her nearly point blank, and would pluck her our of the air by the scruff of her shihakusho.
"You need to hit me. If you're even going to draw your sword now, you need to throw everything you have into one sttack. I need to feel your killing intent." Gwen told her, icy blue eyes glowering in stark contrast to the fiery inferno of her reiatsu. First she would break the shinigami's spirit. Then she would break her body. Only then would Gwen send her licking her wounds back to Soul Society, broken and ashamed. The psychological war against the shinigami was as important as the physical one. To break them down, wear down their psyche. That was what this winter war would entail.

A bala as an opening attack. It was almost too typical for Sam not to have been ready for it . But even with the movement of her Shunpo the Shinigami barely managed to avoid the full force of the released bala, grazing the left side of her body as it passed. The pain shooting through her felt like she'd been sideswiped by a train, the muscles in her left arm barely responding to her commands. "Dammit! fine! If that's how you want it then I'll show you what I am capable of" She cursed, wincing at the pain in her arm, she leveled herself out with her opponent. She'd refused to use her shikai, even suppressed it because of how useless she knew it would be to her. But despite that, she would show this Arrancar what her shikai meant, what it was capable of and what it was not.
Holding the old worn out looking blade in front of herself, Samantha stared straight at the monster before her. Anger, frustration, even sadness played within the Shinigami's eyes. But despite the pool of emotions the Arrancar likely saw in Samantha's eyes, fear was not one of them. "If it is in fact your interest to see my strength then I do hope you're prepared to take a hit." She glared, whipping her shikai out at arms length, pointing it straight at the Arrancar. "Aiteiru Rei, Kokuyokutenshi!" The words curled off Sam's tongue as she closed her eyes, reiatsu enveloping her shikai. The energy flashed backward revealing the shikai's Keitou-Tachi form. The energy flowed back across Sam's hair, seemingly absorbing all color from it until it appeared white, as snow. In the next instant, the Shinigami's reiatsu burst outward from her body seemingly uncontrollably, enveloping her body in violent hues of red. Letting her Reiatsu run rampant was a dangerous ability she'd developed, but it wouldn't matter much if she were to die anyway. She opened her eyes, now glowing a crimson red as her reiatsu swirled endlessly through them. "Take it, the full strength I am capable of." Sam gave her Shikai a small toss, reversing the blade before raising it, applying both hands to its hilt. "Kaika Mikazuki" Sam, struck downward, releasing a blindingly fast crimson arc of energy straight towards the Arrancar.
Name: Fureru Koto Heiwa (Touch of Tranquility) Class: Zanpakuto Spirit Tier: I Type: Passive Range: Self Description: While in released form Sam's hair becomes white and the blade of her shikai is unable to deal any damage. Normal attacks made with the shikai's blade instead heal its target by a small amount, healing minor scrapes and bruises. The healing effects of this aura do not work on its user so Sam is unable to use her weapon to heal herself.
Name: Bleeding Reiatsu Class: Zanpakuto Spirit Tier: IV Type: Supplementary Range: Self Duration: 4 / 2 Description: Sam's eyes gain a glowing red hue as her reiatsu literally pours forth from her body, engulfing her in a hazy, almost saiyan-like aura that bolsters Sam's natural strength and speed by x3 and generates an exceptionally heavy spiritual pressure that lasts for 4 posts. This ability summons up a great deal of reiatsu and once its duration ends Sam loses the x3 buff from this ability. Bleeding Reiatsu cannot be used more than once per 24 hours without incurring progressively dangerous negative impacts on Sam's body(up to and including death). Progressive use after the first reduces natural speed and strength by 1/2 during cooldown. Attempting to use Bleeding Reiatsu more than 2 times within 24 hours will result in death upon cooldown.
Name: Kaika Mikazuki (Blossoming Crescent) Class: Zanpakuto Spirit Tier: IV Type: Offensive (2-hand dependent) Range: 40m Description: Sam wields her shikai in both hands to deliver an energy arc attack that is far more devastating and powerful than (Cross Cut). The attack travels up to medium distance and deeply gouges or destroys any terrain or obstacles it encounters along its path.
Bleeding Reiatsu Duration: 4; Current post count 1
OOC: I am kind of figuring that your character will be boastful enough to wait for Sam's attack hence using so many abilities in one post. I hope that's alright with you?

The shinigami had by some miracle managed to dodge her bala, despite its blinding speed. No matter- the attack would likely have killed her regardless, the glancing blow that struck her was more than sufficient to serve Gwen's purpose. Gwen's eyes flashed dangerously, excited that she'd get to see what this shinigami could do, prepared to gloat at her for her utter weakness. The shinigami even released her shikai- for she hadn't managed to achieve a Bankai. She seemed to be releasing multitudes upon multitudes of power but to Gwen it was still a mere drop in an ocean. She snickered as Samantha told her that this was the full strength she was capable of. Gwen dropped her arms to her sides, and suppressed her reiatsu. Sam would be able to see that she was doing nothing, making absolutely no effort whatever to dodge or defend herself, that she was taking this blow as cleanly as she could.
The wave of reiatsu washed over her, and dissipated behind her. The arc of energy seemed to be coming in slow motion to Gwen, but she didn't make any effort, as it passed over her with absolutely no effect whatsoever. Her hierro nullified all traces of damage, though the difference between their strengths meant that it would have been negligible regardless. She would stand there for several moments, allowing the true futility of Sam's options to become utterly apparent.
"I felt... Nothing." Gwen told her blankly. She couldn't hold back her smile. She cracked her neck with a smooth motion, before blinking. "Not good enough." she told the Shinigami, before disappearing in a crackle of static. When she re-appeared she would be spinning through the air next to Samantha, before aiming an earth-shattering spin-kick straight at her right humerus, aimed to completely break it in two. She would then perform another sonido to just above her, a rock-solid elbow aimed at her head, aiming to floor her with an elbow drop, before landing, cat-like on her feet.
Following this she would take ahold of the zanpakuto, and unless by some miracle Sam managed to hold on to it, pluck it from her hands, before waving it about, debating whether or not she ought to keep it as a keepsake. She would swish it backwards and forwards in a whipping motion, before examining its edge. She took a breath, before in a single fluid motion, she snapped the shikai clean in half over her knee.
"You shinigami are worthless. You will all fall before the might of his Majesty. You aren't the only ones getting all buddy buddy with us Arrancar. After what you've done to the world... You all deserve to perish in his Majesty's perfect world." she spat.

This was no foe she could tangle with. Sam realized that the moment her strongest Shikai ability, coupled with her Bleeding Reiatsu, merely glanced off the Arrancar as if it were river water being parted by rocks. Why had she come to the Human world today. What purpose did it all have now that her very life lay strung up, ready to shatter the moment this monster decided playtime was over and proceeded to end her.
Sam gritted her teeth at the Arrancar's words, proclaiming what she already knew to be true. It was useless, she stood no chance against this monster of an opponent. Escape was the only viable option left but... Her pride as a Shinigami and member of the 11th squad held her back. She wouldn't be so base as to flee in the face of danger, no matter how hopeless the situation seemed. She'd meet it head on. If that meant she would die then so be it.
The Arrancar acted, Sam attempted to block, to dodge, anything that might sustain her longer. But it all turned out to be pointless. Her opponent slammed into her full force, splitting bone before she could feel the pain, subsequently forcing her to release the Shikai from her grip. It wasn't until her body hit the ground below that the pain fell in line, causing the Shinigami to cry out in agony.
Her Shikai broken, the energy she released vanished, her hair and eyes returning to their normal colors. Sam lay helpless before the might of her foe. Had the last three hundred years of training and preparation really only amounted to this much in the end? Her eyes free of the uncontrolled Reiatsu, now shed tears instead. Perhaps it was from the pain she felt in her arm and the back of her head. Her Shikai, broken and carelessly discarded at the Arrancar's feet. Sam's arm equally broken, unable to lift either herself nor a weapon in its current state. She didn't even care about who this monster served. She was already dead to the mercy of this beast, nothing would matter anymore. Sam closed her eyes, tears still breaking from her closed lids. Let fate be what it must...
She saw the hope draining from the shinigami's face as her attack did absolutely nothing. It made the arrancar ecstatic, goosebumps had erupted all over her steel skin. She straightened her mask-fragment come hairband, and breathed a sigh of satisfaction following brutally flooring Samantha. Oh what fun. The more sadistic part of her wanted to continue the torture for longer, however, it was much more politically astute to use this opportunity to send a message to the shinigami. As she dropped the useless shikai to the floor, she saw the shinigami's power faded. With glee she saw the shinigami on the floor begin to cry. Excellent. Just as she had wanted.
She had broken both her body, and her spirit.
She had delivered her message, perhaps it would have been prudent to leave there and then. That might have been what a quincy soldier would have done. But Gwen, despite everything, was still an arrancar. And she was a mean-spirited one at that. Dressed up in the hugo-boss trappings of the Wandenreich she might be, but her baser instincts, the crueller ones, saw that shinigami crying on the floor and she reacted instinctively. All the times she had nearly been cut down... Purified... Her personality and power lost to these self-proclaimed gods.
Gwen walked towards the fallen Sam, laying down a healthy blanket of reiatsu suppression in case by some miracle she, or anyone else tried to pull any funny business, and knelt beside her, her big boots at the shinigami's eye level. She leaned down so her pretty but severe and compassionless face was visible through the shinigami's tears.... And broke out into a motherly look of concern. She reached forward and wiped away the shinigami's tears.
"Hush, hush," she cooed gently, the sparkles of empathy glittering in her icy eyes. "it's okay little shinigami," she said softly, tucking a strand of blonde hair back behind Sam's ear. She leaned down and gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead, "please don't cry." she whispered softly, sounding almost on the verge of tears herself.
"I fucking hate to see you cry." her face changed instantly into a look of disgust, and hatred, teeth bared, upper up furled back into a snarl as quick as a flash she leaned forward and kneed Samantha powerfully in the gut, in a horrendous suckerpunch. Gwen snickered and got to her feet, happy that she'd let loose enough of her anger on this unsuspecting soul reaper. "Just remember... You were defeated by Gwen Olivarez, of the Wandenreich. Don't tresspass into human territory any more, Shinigami." she spat, turning away from Samantha, stomping on the zanpakuto as she went for good measure. She opened a garganta, and prepared to step out of it, leaving the shinigami on the rooftop.
{Rei Suppression}Name: Reiatsu Suppression Class: Reiatsu Control Tier: VI Type: Binding Range: 50m with no fall off Description: The power to manifest your reiatsu pressure around you, forcing your enemies to their knees with your substantial reiatsu, and even rendering them unconscious with enough advantages. This ability can also be used defensively to ward off an opponent's version of the ability.

”Gwen… Oliv…arez…” Sam uttered once the Arrancar vanished, disappearing just as suddenly as she’d appeared. The Shinigami let out a small, disheartened laugh turned cough when the pain in her gut surged. ”I’ll remember that.” she winced, the pain in her arm unrelenting. ”Shit… why me…?” Sam sat on her knees, staring up to where the Arrancar had vanished. ”Being purified is better than death isn’t it? Shouldn’t it be a good thing to not have to suffer the fate of forever living as Hollow…”
Sam picked up the pieces of her Zanpakuto. “I’m sorry.” She whispered. She’d long since suppressed her Shikai, to have it respond to her calling now was, in itself, both a blessing and a betrayal. She knew now that she was blessed. Blessed that her Shikai still listened after so much time being rejected. But she’d betrayed not only herself but her Zanpakuto as well. Hadn’t understood what it meant to have a spirit like this as her partner. Had rejected it because she hadn’t tried to understand it.
“Can you forgive me?” Sam asked her Zanpakuto. Silence. It was all she expected anyway. Silence fell around her and she swiftly slipped into unconsciousness.
