Gwen's eyes scanned the desert. Empty. Good. It was time for her to work on getting stronger. She had long since abandoned The One, destroying its hapless form in an act of sheer sadism before fleeing to the wastes. The run in with the Quincy BG9, and seeing the powers that fought it had inspired her to become even stronger, to become the true apex predator. There was another thing too; Theocelese. Liam O'Brien had disappeared, he was the closest thing to an ally she possessed. Superia as well, who she had met in the wastes. With that insane Arrancar her enemy-for-life, Gwen had firmly decided that it was time to get ripped. La Piel Resbala She would be learning some techniques she had seen other arrancar use. This first one entailed shedding one's own skin like a snake, and igniting it with reiryoku. She had studied it carefully, and was prepared to attempt it herself. She stood, in a combat-ready stance, her white robes swishing about her ankles. Closing her eyes and focusing hard, she stepped; attempting to leave her outermost layer of skin behind. With a buzz of static, she re-appeared some twenty metres distant of her initial position.

She looked back at where she had previously stood. What remained was a shell so thin that it was virtually transparent, the outline of the dunes visible through it. Dammit what a poor attempt! She hadn't even attempted to charge it with her reiatsu. After mere seconds it shattered into dust, and Gwen felt the tingling of her skin growing back. She'd try again. She performed a step, some twenty metres to the right, concentrating on severing and leaving behind a layer of skin. It was kind of successful; she had formed the shell, but had accidentally stepped through it, breaking the right hand side. The half remaining crumpled under its own wake, this one firm enough to stay together like a horrendous distended snakeskin. Once more, Gwen's skin regenerated thanks to her high-speed regeneration.
She took a breath. Third time's the charm. She stepped out of her skin, this time ensuring that it remained together in a single form as she exited her sonido some thirty metres distant. The Gwen clone eerily stood, staring back at her. It was a fairly accurate likeness, now that it was thick enough not to be translucent. She blasted it with a cero, as it was freaking her out.

She repeated the process several more times, each time stepping out of her skin and leaving behind a creepy statue, which she then destroyed as it made her a little existential. Next would be to charge the skin with reiryoku. Gwen did this, charging her skin with reiryoku, and stepping away. However; the reiryoku did not stay behind with the layer of skin she deposited. Her eyes went wide, and she hardened her Hierro as much as she could before her entire body exploded.
Luckily her Hierro was mighty indeed, and so she was relatively unscathed. She looked at the skin-remnant with immense displeasure, before firing a Cero at it once more. Ok. She's get it this time. She ripped herself out of her skin, performing a sonido to get some twenty metres ahead of herself, before exploding the remnant with reiryoku. Yes! Success. Gwen exhaled sharply through her nose, pleased at her handiwork. It had almost been perfect however; she knew she could get more power out of the explosion.
She attempted it once more, this time pumping a great deal of reiatsu into the shell. However, she made a fatal error. An error that caused her a great deal of pain indeed.

The greater amount of reiryoku had penetrated deeper into her skin, and so as a result, when she had ejected herself from the shell, the shell had been too deep. The end result was that Gwen had managed to flail herself, and blood poured from her entire body. She screamed in pain, before her high speed regeneration began to patch her body up, the pressure wave from the nearby explosion causing her agony through her nerve ends. She grit her teeth as she recovered her skin. Okay Gwen, let's not do that again. She punched the air, releasing a wave of pressure that kicked up a line of sand for some fifty metres or more.
Her pain now subsided she tried it again, ensuring that her hierro was hard enough that the reiryoku wouldn't penetrate so deep, and making extra sure to leave behind only the surface of her flesh. The technique went off without a hitch. Gwen tried it a few more times; stepping left, right, up down, backwards. She tried leaving the shell in different positions to maximise potential. Indeed, it seemed to be perfect for combat, especially for Gwens's style of fighting. She smiled, ready now to move on to the next technique.

Protector de la Tierra Next, Gwen would work on a defensive technique. This technique was much simpler than the last, and indeed as a result, simpler to learn. It involved erupting spiritually compressed structures as a form of last-ditch defense. Gwen had considered the theory of such a technique long and hard. First, one would have to pull up from the ground a structure, using reiatsu to force it into shape. Then it could be hardened by reinforcing it with reiryoku, much like how one's condensed reiryoku hardened their skin in battle.
With this in mind, worked out Gwen began. Her reiatsu was normally entirely destructive. Fire based, it would simply devour and reduce all things to ash. At first it was difficult for her to see how she might instead create something using her spiritual pressure instead. She applied her reiatsu to a patch of the sand before her but on her first attempt, it superheated it, instantly blasting a line of sand into glass before her. She scowled, her brow furrowed. She had masterful control of her reiatsu- she could do this. She breathed deeply, before applying her spiritual pressure once more, attempting to lift a slab of sand, and hold it together.

It worked briefly for a moment, she was able to raise a wall of sand, but it soon crumpled, once again blasted into glass. Gwen sighed. Patience Gwen, patience. She focused hard, ensuring her fiery resolve didn't affect the shifting particles, and indeed she was able to raise the wall. It was leaking and so gently, she plugged the holes and began to solidify the wall more and more with her spiritual pressure. Yes, this was it. She sighed and let it go, the sand falling back to the ground in an intricate pattern.
That wouldn't be fast enough, however. She had to get her muscles to memorize exactly what she needed to do in order to create these structures in the blink of an eye. She once again focused on raising the wall, this time three or four times as quickly, as she knew how to do it. She relaxed and let it sink back once more. The next time she tried was not quite so successful; she was able to create it relatively quickly, but put too much tension into it, and it shattered into shards of glass. No good.
Once more and... success. It was nearly instantaneous now.

Gwen tried it multiple times; changing the shape of the wall, its height, its width, so she would be versatile enough to block all sorts of attacks and techniques coming her way. Once she was satisfied that she could make even a turret with slits to shoot cero out of, she focused on hardening it with condensed reiryoku. Initially this had similar results to before; too much spiritual energy, and the structures would simply crack and collapse. She had to ensure that the balance was absolutely perfect. Sweat rolled off of her brow by this point, she had begun somewhat to deplete her energy reserves. No matter. Keep going.
She created a large wall that towered some eight feet tall, hardened with reiryoku. Performing a sonido to get some distance she shot a cero at it, to test its strength. The wall at first seemed to hold up but soon cracked in twain. With a grunt, she tried again, this time forming layers of energy to ensure that it was fully solidified all the way though. The wall she created this time seemed incredibly imposing, and fully structurally sound. This time when she hit it with her cero, it kicked up a huge storm of dust, but when it settled, the wall remained firmly in place.

Trueno Poderoso The next technique was slightly less powerful, Gwen was confident she could learn it with relative ease. Especially as it was lightning based and lightning seemed to be a similar enough element to fire. Whereas a fire was a plasma with all ions and electrons moving freely, electricity was a force of electrons only, making it just as deadly but more concentrated. Gwen pumped reiryoku into her right arm. However, she went too hard and fast, and got a sharp static shock down her leg as the charge grounded itself out. Right; concentrations of charge would attempt to discharge and disperse, since charges repelled one another.
She tried once more, this time gathering a large amount of static to her arm. She used her reiryoku to ensure it didn't flow through her body into the ground, and instead built up. However, after a little while, it arched to the ground, blasting the sand into glass. She sighed. She would have to insulate it from the air as well as her body. Once more she charged her arm up, ensuring that the electrons were bound to her, until eventually her arm was strongly statically charged. The next point would be to release it in a controlled manner.
Gwen did the same again, but faster this time. Gathering charge onto her arm, creating a great static disturbance of electricity. She focused her reiatsu to release it, however the bolt of lightning seemed to want to act of its own accord, and shot off into the distance. Hmm. What Gwen realized was that lightning had two paths to trace; the initial pass to establish a circuit, and the true flash and power of lightning only coming on the return stroke. Her analytical brain whirred into action; she supposed that she could guide the "feeler" stroke with her reiatsu, and then simply let the power of the electricity do the rest.
Charging up once more, Gwen sent her reiatsu as a probe and a guide, towards a nearby quartz tree, and once it had touched the frozen stone bark, there was a howl and a flash, and a rumble as the air itself was turned into plasma and imploded upon itself. Gwen smiled to herself, satisfied. Another weapon in her growing arsenal. Indeed, her power was increasing evermore by the day. She was confident that she was sufficiently powerful that she would be able to join the Wandenreich's forces, given how easily that pathetic robot had been destroyed.
