She smiled as she walked, nodding to the soldiers who stopped to salute her. She had finished issuing out orders and now had time to relax, something that seemed more of a luxury these days. The soldiers continued their training, while a small group continued their efforts in tracking her father down, while the other Gods were off putting their own plans in to motion. Ares, securing Hueco Mundo from the Quincy invasion they had repelled, Poseidon off doing... whatever it was he does. Destroying something, probably, and Hades, their newest addition coming to term with his betrayal of the Gotei 13. Now, aside from her soldiers and the Oracle, she was alone on Olympus, a small break granted to her in these times of war. It was one she would not squander. Clad in a simple white robed with a crimson sash, she climbed the stairs, so finely crafted that despite the ages, they showed little wear. Here, she had no need for weapons or armor. This was her domain, and while she did not hide or keep it secret, it took her little effort to call her weapons to her, and she doubted anyone would directly assault Olympus itself.
No, that would be suicide. Gods, soldiers, powers that most could only dream of achieving all resided here. Besides that, it was a thing of legends, Olympus, the mountain was beautiful, its structures crafted from marble slabs to withstand the ages, the seemingly never ending sea surrounding them, and so high in the clouds that it overlooked most cities. Olympus was like nothing else. It would be a crime to bring damage to it. Yes, she was perfectly safe here.
Rounding corner and climbing another set of stairs, she made her way up to the highest point of the two mountains. At the top of the peak a large round marble slab had been carved in to the mountain, creating a platform that housed twelve thrones. One for each God. The thrones themselves were set in such a way that even with the distance between them, no matter which way you looked, you could see the others. This also allowed for someone to stand in the center of the marble platform and address the Gods. Strolling over to one with an owl carved in to the back of the throne, the symbol of Athena, she took a seat and crossed one leg over the other. With a snap of her fingers, a young servant girl appeared as if from the shadows, producing a goblet made of golden, inlaid with jewels of varying colors, and filled halfway with wine. Taking the cup, the girl bowed, and retreated as quickly as she had appeared.
Smiling, she took a sip from the goblet, and breathed a sigh of enjoyment. It had been a long week, and the wine was hitting every right spot.
Sui Feng's investigations had lead her this far. Her first reaction to having been stationed in the human world had been one of extreme annoyance, and the separation of duties for the second division and onmitsukido had been a serious break in tradition, the likes of which Sui Feng seldom approved. In fact, recent events had been nothing but break in tradition after break in tradition and it irritated her. Having said that... Having been able to focus on this mission had enabled much smoother runnings. In fact, without the Gotei 13 sticking their noses, and the relative freedom from the Central 46 here in the human world, things were slick and efficient, exactly how she liked them.
The cogs had turned nicely together, and her spies had given her the co-ordinates of Olympus, the base of operations for the group of the same name. The minutae of the meeting that their leader Emilia had interrupted, given to her by Kuchiki Taicho and Hirako Taicho had enabled Sui Feng to do her own bit of digging. So... This Emilia was one of hers, was she? What was it with ex-division members recently? Firstly Shiori Sasaki, former 2nd division member and then Kidoshuu representative in the second division had been kidnapped, presumed dead. Though Sui Feng knew for a fact that she was now a Visored and living in the human world. Secondly was Vanessa Vårjen, ex-division member turned 12th squad representative who had been killed during the holder debacle, only to re-emerge after the Soshi's failed hollow sealing experiment- the whole episode an embarrassing stain on the Kido Corps, as far as Sui Feng was concerned. And now Emilia too, also an ex second squad member, also a Visored.
Sui Feng sighed. Maybe she really was better off without a damn squad to have to worry about. Regardless, they were her messes, and it was her duty to fix them, starting with this one. She had two principal goals in this instance; the first was to discover if there had been a conflict between Olympus and the Wandenreich, and if so, which faction had come out on top. It would be terribly convenient if both factions had destroyed each other during an altercation. Too convenient. Sui Feng wasn't going to bank on it for a moment.
She'd approached Olympus from afar. It seemed... Grandiose. Ostentatious. A huge statement. It reminded her of how much she disliked her own bankai, despite its uses. Perhaps Emilia simply hadn't fit the Stealth Force's personality, if this was the type of place she were to call home. Nonetheless, Sui Feng knew that with an opponent such as this, there was no point in any type of covert espionage. She had ensured that Emilia was the only one present on the mountain, before climbing. Urahara Kisuke was on standby in case she needed any particular kind of backup. She hated that man. But he had his uses; and being monitored incase things got hairy was one of them. Sui Feng climbed the mountain, her reiatsu suppressed to nothing, easily avoiding the soldiers on the way up by using the evening shadows and her shunpo, unmatched in speed.
From what she knew of Emilia, she felt confident that as Sui Feng was here to parley, she wasn't in any immediate danger. Nonetheless, she stepped out of the shadows, and into the throne room without her flash steps, to show that she wasn't here on some kind of covert assassination mission. That wasn't why she was here... This time.
"Athena." Sui Feng greeted the visored with the moniker she had used to describe herself when she had interrupted the captain's meeting, no use antagonising her right off the bat.
As she sipped her wine, she allowed her thoughts to wander. This place always relaxed her, the throne room. She wasn't sure why, perhaps it was the height, or maybe because the scent of fresh air seemed stronger here, or maybe it was just the quietness of it all. There was no weapons clanging, no hammers banging, and no barking of orders. Regardless of the reason, it was rare to escape to such a place, and so when she did, she savored every moment of it. She was content, yet alert, knowing full well that this war could escalate at any given moment. On either side. They had engaged the Quincy once, and were still at odds with the Shinigami, though arrogant, they weren't as brash or reckless as the Quincy. She did not consider an attack from the Gotei, but the Wandenreich? They were a different story. They cared little for casualties and losses, and would throw away lives to see their enemy destroyed. A worthy adversary, sure, but not one she would let her guard down around. That led to Emi having soldiers stationed in both the human world, and with Ares in Hueco Mundo. She needed to be able to react at a moments notice, and mobilize the others.
Still though, the Shinigami continued to surprise her. Even now, as her thoughts wandered, she heard it before she sensed it. That all too familiar 'swishing' noise, her eyes falling to the center of the marble platform as she took another sip from her goblet. The voice of a female acknowledging her, even using her title. Even more surprising, was that it was Sui Feng herself, though not physically imposing, she was deadly none the less. An assassin with unrivaled speed, and her former Captain. It was many moons ago, and she was much younger back then, but she would never forget her face.
Which made her wonder, was she here to kill her? No... that couldn't be it. She was assassin, after all. If she was going to make an attempt on her life, it would have been from the shadows, before she even knew what had happened. A trap, then? No, most likely not. There would be better bait than the one who could strike instantly. Lowering the cup, she smiled at her visitor.
"Sui Feng. I was not expecting visitors, least of all one loyal to the Gotei Thirteen. So, what do I owe the pleasure?" She appeared relaxed, but knew better than to lower her guard around her. She could not sense any other presence, but that did not mean she did not have her own followers hidden in the shadows. Those, she could handle, but Sui Feng would prove difficult. Not impossible, but most certainly bothersome.
Emilia hadn't instantly moved to attack. That was a hopeful initial sign. Sui Feng wasn't entirely sure of the strength of the Visored, however her underlings appeared to be ranked similarly to Espada 1-4. She remembered the battle with Barragan; she had won only with the help of Hachigen Ushoda and his kido. She was stronger since then. Indeed, Sui Feng was confident in the power of her shunko, as this would be an opponent hard to take down with her bankai... Nonetheless, not having to fight at all, and being able to retreat into the shadows once more, was the optimum solution here.
She stood opposite the throne on the other side of the dais, regarding Emilia carefully. There hadn't been an opportunity to examine her much before this, besides the photos they had on file. She was a little shorter than Sui Feng might have imagined, but nonetheless, looked fierce. She was adorned in human garments of some time long passed reminiscent of some pantheon; some God delusion, in fitting with the theme of the mountain, perhaps? It fit the stylings of Olympus.
"I'm here... To see whether you were still alive." Sui Feng told her firmly, eyes narrowing slightly. This barb was a probe as much as anything else, to gauge her reaction. She needed to know if she was dealing with a person sound of mind and level of head. "Or if the Quincy had done our job for us." she said with the smallest smirk. There was no use pretending that the thought wouldn't cross both of their minds at least once.
It was always amusing when they under estimated her. Time and time again they thought Olympus was something they could brush aside, yet they had failed to stop both Poseidon and Ares, thinking that one Captain would be enough for the two of them. Admittedly, she had held her own quite well, but her Gods were not some 'bothersome hollow' they could squash so easily, not only that, but she had successfully entered the Seireitei, with the help of Hades, and even intruded upon one of their meetings. All without ever being caught. Perhaps they didn't care, or maybe they had under estimated even then, either way, she couldn't help but laugh at the thought. Arrogance would only lead to their downfall. Taking another sip from her goblet, she shot a smirk back at Sui Feng. "I see. That would be rather convenient for you, after all, if the Shinigami had the competence to finish what they started, these Quincy wouldn't be an issue." They were enemies, of course they would hope for the downfall of the other, but Emi herself would rather handle the Gotei herself. She didn't need the Quincy to do her work for her.
Standing, she took a few steps forward from her throne, though choosing not to close the gap between them. Gesturing with her hands, she spoke. "But as you can see, I am in perfectly good health. They tried, and failed. The Quincy grew too arrogant and attempted to take something that did not belong to them. They paid with their lives." She was not naive or stupid enough to believe that is all Sui Feng wanted, if it was, she wouldn't have bothered to exit the shadows and engage in idle conversation with her. Hell, she doubted she would have even left Soul Society, and instead, would have simply sent an underling to scout and report back that she was, indeed, alive. "So again I ask you, Sui Feng, what is it that you want with me? Surely you did not come all this way for my health, nor for our flirty banter. Or perhaps I've caught your eye after all, hmm?" She shot her a wink and a smirk of her own before taking another sip of her wine.
Sui Feng narrowed her eyes a hair's breadth. Was Emilia attempting to goad her? It was only fair, Sui Feng had done the same to her. So they were on equal footing. She simply wouldn't respond to the first remark; they knew where they stood, there was no purpose in exchanging pithy barbs for the sake of it. Emilia stood, and Sui Feng didn't react at all, except to sniff delicately. She did indeed briefly examine Emilia as she pontificated, noting that she did indeed appear to be unscathed. Perhaps it was this look that prompted the visored's next remark, which Sui Feng reacted to with a look that was a combination of pity and absolute disgust. Her top lip curled back derisively, unable to help herself. Was Emilia really so lonely and depraved here with her hollow companions that she construed the first bit of... Well in all honesty it was still quite hostile communication.
"I must admit," Sui Feng said, swallowing back what she had really wanted to retort, "there was a little... Personal interest here. Shiori Sasaki, Vanessa Vårjen- were they your handiwork also?" the circumstances behind the girls' hollowfications were known to Soul Society, however the files had been redacted by the Central 46, and Sui Feng hadn't entirely trusted the Soshi's explanation, as evasive as it had been. "Or was the second division really so terrible that my subordinates routinely saw fit to turn themselves into monsters?" she asked, a biting accusation behind this statement, Sui Feng only just keeping her emotions in check.
The look of disgust that flitted across her face pleased Emi greatly, how easy it was to get under skin. She would remember that for any future encounters they may have, especially if it ended up on the battlefield. If she could irritate her enough, it would make her sloppy. And while she wanted to tease her about her 'personal interest' she found herself thinking about the two names given to her instead. It would appear there were a few more Visored on the loose, and she thought Emi was converting people. Shrugging, she shook her head. "Sorry to disappoint, but those names are unfamiliar to me." It was her next comment that made her stop, it wasn't the insult of being called a 'monster', she knew the stigma this transformation brought upon them. No, it was the memories that seemed to come flooding back.
Her expression softened, and she no longer seemed to be looking at Sui Feng herself, but through her. They were memories of a... easier time. She was a student with barely a care in the world, training to kill the very thing she now found herself surrounded by, and tainted with. When she had joined Second Division she trained every day looking for some form of recognition from her Captain, her peers. She had never gotten it. "I... admired you, Sui Feng, idolized, even. You were everything I wanted to be, strong, in a position of power, respect from those around you. You were strict, and harsh to a fault, but it only pushed me harder. I thought if I became strong enough, you would take notice. You never did." She thought for a moment, it had been many years since she buried these memories. It wasn't on purpose, or out of a 'if I don't think about it, it won't hurt' thing, but more that it was no longer significant in her life. It all forged her in to who she had become, but it was just that; the past.
"I was infected, not by choice, by the same Hollow that killed my birth parents. What was I to do? Return to the Soul Society only to be executed for something that I did not choose? I was, as you said, a monster. My adoptive father took me in, taught me to be a warrior, to fight. So I did. I was not going to give my life away because the Shinigami deemed us corrupted." Her expressions hardened, and her gaze snapped back to Sui Feng.
Raising her free hand, Hollow reiatsu danced freely around it, she toyed with it, turning her hand as it seemed to come alive. "But that is the past, and that's where it'll stay. Now? I relish in it. I have the power to crush anyone who threatens what I've built. What I care about." She clenched her fist and snuffed the reiatsu out. "Can you say the same, Sui Feng? Truly?" She didn't expect her to, she knew the type of person she was. They had different priorities, and she was the 'strong arm of the law', while Emi was brought up by family, and had certain morals and values driven in to her.
So Vanessa and Shiori were nothing to do with Emilia... Rather, Emilia wanted her to believe that, regardless of the truth. Nonetheless, she decided to take the Visored at face value. Of course Emilia would take any opportunity that she could to rub defections in the face of Soul Society, much as she had with Arashi Byakurai during the Captain Commander and Kido Soshi's meeting with various Taicho. The next moment, Emilia displayed vulnerability. Sui Feng filed that one away under potentially useful information. If they did have to kill her, any weapons in their arsenal would be useful indeed. However, when she spoke, Sui Feng was reminded of herself. Though she'd give no indication, what Emilia described sounded somewhat akin to how Sui Feng herself felt of Yoruichi.
Then. Infected by accident? A likely story. How convenient it was that these people, all people who seek greater power, gained illegal hollow powers. And all of them seemingly against their will. Emilia didn't even seem to be trying to hide it, speaking of revelling in her power, of crushing those before her. Sui Feng's sense of collectivised justice would never allow her to entertain such thoughts. The will of the individual was weak, regardless of the power that individual possessed, relative to the wisdom of the law and its arbiters. Sui Feng was the ultimate symbol of such legal arbitration, of justice from the courts being executed in the world. She was the pointed index finger of the long arm of the law.
"You ought to have fallen on your sword." was her initial response. "That would have been the honourable thing to do." she spat. Choosing this life for herself was a mistake, in Sui Feng's books. Much better to start anew, and become born afresh. "I'm not so vain as to put my personal aspirations above the common good of the world." she said, in a measured tone. "The Gotei 13 as a whole however... Soul Society... Yes. You weren't the first one who has tried to destroy everything the noble houses and captain commander have built. And as the Wandenreich have demonstrated, you weren't the last either."
Perhaps she had gone too far. After all, there was something else that, much to her loathing, she had been instructed to do. But this was how it had unravelled, and she couldn't spare any thoughts on changing the past now.
"The Wandenreich pose an existential threat to The Gotei 13. If our highly trained and co-ordinated military is under threat, then I can't imagine your rag-tag bunch of misfits will fare any better against the 26 Sternritter." Sui Feng would really drive the point home now. "Especially not when one of them has jumped ship to our side, and another is our sleeper agent." Theocelese's defection was a recent event, and he was safely in the Seireitei, awaiting his judgement from the captains, but she was putting Arashi in extreme danger here. But it would be worth it if it worked. He'd chosen to give himself the assignment, only telling his superiors after the fact, he could accept the consequences for that.
"Pardons are being offered for rogues and ex-criminals. You could be absolved of your sins and welcomed back to the Thirteen Court Guard Squads." Sui Feng said, before smirking. "Or you can stay here in your monument to vanity, and wait for both our enemies to rain destruction down upon you, turning your Olympus... Into an Atlantis." Emilia might have been arrogant, but she wasn't stupid at all. Sui Feng didn't for one moment think that she genuinely considered that she would be able to take on the Wandenreich alone.
"Think about it." With those words, Sui Feng would bow once, and vanish back into the shadows, her reiatsu barely a whisper upon the wind, as she wound her way invisibly back down the mountain, and back to her base of operations.
{Spoiler} This might seem a little sudden but thematically, it seemed like the best place to end things. Feel free to leave it here, or wrap it up in the next post (but try not to ask any direct questions)
I think Sui Feng is more likely to give Emilia some time to mull it over and let her come to them, rather than force a choice there and then.

Oh how badly she wanted to blow this little Shinigami to pieces with a simple Cero, and how easy it would have been. She insulted everything she stood for her, her honor, her pride. Her family. She nearly shook with anger, her eyes narrow as she restrained herself. It would do her no good to bring death to a Captain, not now. Not with the Wandenreich threatening the human world. She didn't need both worlds colliding with hers. She would deal with the Quincy, and then show Sui Feng just what it meant to be powerful. She spoke of the greater good of the world? Yet she hid within a bubble, protected, shut off from anything outside of it. She knew nothing.
But what angered her the most was reports of a defection, and a sleeper agent. There were fewer Gods now than before, Ares, Poseidon, and Hades. Poseidon would be controlled by no one, so that immediately ruled him out. Hades was the most likely candidate for being a sleeper agent, he was, after all, a Shinigami. She would deal with him later, but Ares? Would he truly turn to the Shinigami? He hated them just as much as she did... though doubt plagued her, she would not believe the words of her enemy simply because she said it was so. She would find out soon enough.
She was offered a position within the Gotei once more. Her old life. She didn't immediately answer. There was no need, nor desire to. And when Sui Feng departed, she clenched her jaw, snarled, and threw her goblet over the side of the mountain. To hell with all of them. She needed no one. Turning, she stormed down the stairs, and back to her own chambers.
