"Come on Arashi!"
What had transpired was thus. Vanessa was acutely aware that she had a couple areas that while she indeed performed excellently in them, she could have done with a little work. And the reason that she knew that was because she'd had her ass handed to her by Arashi. And so it only made sense for Arashi to be the one who helped her climb the rungs on the ladder to let her catch up with him. He hadn't been too hard to find, surprisingly. All she had to do was talk to the plus souls who could tell her where the lazy ass with pink hair had been hiding out.
And after that, all she'd had to do was corner him, and convince him to come and teach her. "It'll be fuuuuun!" she'd say. Regardless, Arashi was now following her up a mountain outside of town into a large clearing, free of trees and completely secluded so that they might go about their business alone. Once he was in the clearing and they'd stopped for breath she would place gauntleted hands upon her hips and stand in a broad stance, legs shoulder-width apart.
"Arashi, I need two things. I need you to help me improve my defense..." she stopped to thump her chest, but winced as her boob got in the way and she ended up smacking that instead, "And I need you to somehow show me how you got so ungodly fast." she told him. "The second one I'll leave to your judgement. But I was always told the way to end up thick skinned was to tank something big. So I want you to hit me... Maybe not as hard as you can. Hard enough that you think it'll hurt; that I'll have to concentrate to not get a serious injury. You know, toughen my skin up with all that killing resolve so I end up all tanky like Kenpachi, or an Espada."

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi let out a yawn as he followed Nessa. It hadn’t been that long since they last time they met had it? She had something along the lines of it would be fun and she needed help. So here he was following her through some forests waiting to hear her explanation of the current events. He picked at his ear with his right pinky finger as she was beginning to go on about what she needed. Flicking the crud onto the ground he begun to respond to her request. “Well, I guess I could do something to help, but I hope you’re ready.”
He grinned as he vanished from sight. Arashi remembered that the other Shinigami had a harder time keeping up with his natural speed and this would hopefully still be the same. As he was going to appear from behind her. He swung his left hand flat in the form of a chop at the right side of her neck with enough force to bring her to her knees. If she wanted this training, she would have to be broken and beaten down to start to build the endurance. Kenpachi was always destroying his body from what he had heard so it only made sense to do the same to her. Arashi prepared to make this the worst experience she would ever endure.

"Okay, great!" Nessa smiled at him with uncharacteristic earnestness. What she had expected was for him to then give her some time to prepare, and then attack her with a measured blow that she would be able to prepare a defence for. What instead he did, was goddamn fucking disappear. How the hell was he so goddamn fast? Nessa started as he appeared behind her. There was literally nothing she could have done to dodge the blow, he outpaced her by a ridiculous amount, it was like a normal human attempting a footrace with an F1. She only just got a chance to pull herself together such that his blow didn't immediately kill her, and knocked her to her knees with a painful thud. She rolled onto her back and leapt to her feet.
"What the hell do you think you're playing at!? Ow! That really hurt, how was I supposed to defend against that!?" She complained, rubbing her neck which was rapidly bruising up. It looked like he really was going to put her through her paces. "I guess I just need to... Ensure I keep my spiritual pressure high, and tight, so it doesn't hurt quite so damn much when you do that?"

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi watched her fall to her knees before moving over and performing a kip up. He was surprised to hear her already beginning to complain. “Look you’re the one who wants my help right?” His neck popped as he pushed on his chin to tilt it. “You need to understand something Nessie.” He moved as fast as possible to be almost nose to nose with her. “This isn’t going to be fun. You want to know how I got so fast? I pushed myself beyond belief. You want to be able to take the heaviest attacks from an enemy? Then you need to toughen up creampuff. There is only one way to do this and it’s to push your physical limitations.”
As he finished his sentence he jumped into the air bringing his right knee up towards her sternum. He was moving as fast as he possibly could. Her reflexes had to increase along with her movements. Arashi had to get her physical form up to par with his movements and to be able to take stronger attacks. It was going to be a long day for the both of them it seemed.

She didn't let any sign of her ire at being called "Nessie" show. Arashi had a monkey-around problem and one day, someone would come and sort that out. But it wouldn't be her. And it wouldn't be today. Maybe he'd get eaten by the hollows he was hanging around with. As long as he helped her improve, that wasn't much of an issue to her.
The fact that he was so close so quickly was alarming, but it gave Nessa at least the opportunity to prepare. She gathered her reiryoku and tempered her fiery spirit into conviction. She wasn't going to let him hurt her. She flinched; that was all she was capable of doing in terms of reacting, at this point, but when the knee impacted her chest, it was a damnsight less debilitating than the previous one. She stumbled backwards, and then used a flash step to gain a little more distance. He wanted her to push herself? Then sure, she would push herself. She focused on getting distance so that she'd have time to prepare once he came after her once more.
The ground whipped by beneath her feet, as she focused on preparing for the next hit.

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi sighed watching as she moved away. She wasn’t getting it. Her movements were still slow in comparison and they were way too rigid. She had to be smooth and flow with her environment. He didn’t expect her to change quickly. It was almost like she was always a text book person but maybe that wasn’t fair. She just needed to be shown the adjustments. The moment she put enough distance between them was the same moment he would appear behind her. His speed was so far above most that this feat was as easy as stealing candy from a child.
Once he was behind her all he did was sway his body backwards. Arashi had a habit of repeating his same movements in a fight which would bite him in the ass. He hoped that this would be an opportunity in which Nessa would attempt to counter him by taking advantage of that. He however was prepared for this by moving his torso back to keep from anything hitting him if it was the case. The man wasn’t sure on how she would react though he did hope for her to try to fight back. The more he could teach her in combat the better.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Jul 22, 2018 23:25:25 GMT
Dammit! He'd outsped her utterly, completely, once more. He'd totally disappeared as she was using her steps to attempt to gain a little distance. It was only after a moment that she realized that he was already behind her. She was travelling in her step, and realized that at this moment she could either try and avoid him, or fight him somehow. But honestly, at this juncture, the easiest thing would be to keep going with the flow. She wanted to get hard? She wanted to get fast? Well, she'd do both of those things as much as she could, and if Arashi was so certain that he was going to just appear behind her, she'd just keep going.
And so Nessa had managed to hopefully surprise him, and buy herself a little extra time by not awkwardly turning around, or performing a shunpo out of the way, but by literally exiting her step, focusing her reiatsu hard upon herself, and crashing straight into the shinigami with all her might. The collision would bruise her a lot but already she was focusing on her spiritual intent; the intent to not get hurt. Instead of prescribed motion too, she would fluidly take the path of least resistance following the principle of least action.

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi didn’t have much time to prepare. Instead of doing what he expected she just threw herself backwards at him. As her body crashed into his chest he felt her spiritually hardening herself which was an intelligent choice. He had no choice but to let her continue to flail herself into his chest, but he knew what his next step was. His arms shot forward wrapping around her body like a snake coiling around it’s victim. Arashi begun to squeeze down as hard as possible as they started to move backwards.
As he held down he shifted his weight a bit to the right and tugged her body. He intended to use their momentum as much as possible to slam her to the ground and him land on top. Arashi hoped that by holding down her arms she would not be able to fight out and would just go face first into the dirt. She was intelligent, but it was a mistake just giving her body up completely free. She did however still have her legs however he hoped that she would not be able to react in time to use them. His pounded now from the pain of when she slammed into him but soon it would numb due to the adrenaline pumping through his veins.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Jul 23, 2018 17:13:24 GMT
Hopefully it seemed that Arashi hadn't anticipated what she'd done; though Vanessa in fact had no way of knowing, not being able to see his face. Once the initial shock had worn off, however, Arashi reacted quickly, a true fighter. His arms wrapped around her, squeezing tightly. She let out a gasp of breath, as she felt him crushing her. Arashi wasn't really an appreciable amount stronger than her, and she felt she'd be able to break out of his grip. But instead of struggling, she decided to once more exercise her Soul Resilience.
As Arashi grabbed her, Nessa hardened her head as much as she can, and headbutted him with the back of her skull, straight in the face, as forcefully as she could. Not just once either; Nessa would repeatedly smack Arashi in the face, hoping the combination of her focused Soul Resilience as well as the fact that it was skull vs. face would mean that he would come off worse than her. Nonetheless it didn't change the fact that she was slammed into the ground. That hurt! She realized that it wasn't enough to prepare her defenses beforehand; she had to ensure her body was always prepared to take damage, to ensure her reiryoku was always condensed enough to tank damage.
Hopefully at least her little manouvre was enough to have thrown Arashi off.

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi was not prepared for Nessa to start smacking the back of her head into his face. The first blow hurt but was softened a bit as he maintained his composure. However, the repeated blows to the face slowly started to turn his entire face a cherry red. As they slammed into the ground he felt her body once again collide into his causing him minor pain. There was a small amount of blood starting to trickle from his left nostril and his mouth as he started to move. He pushed off the back of her head with his hand to get to her left side.
As soon as he was around he tried to knee her in her ribs. He was making sure to bring as much force up as possible in their awkward position. She had sparked something inside of him that made him a bit more hostile now. If there was one thing he hated it was to be hit in the face especially like that. Arashi wanted to ‘punish’ her for repeatedly headbutting him. He was capable of taking her attacks head on at the moment but it didn’t mean he wanted to do that.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Jul 31, 2018 15:34:00 GMT
Nessa was thrown down to the ground as Arashi pushed off her, where she ate dust. Her condensed reiryoku protected her. It was more and more instinctual now as it had been throughout her many battles, including her last battle with him. She could feel already her defensive prowess increasing, and was learning from Arashi too how one might defend themselves. The next blow however, was still pretty harsh even through her defences. Really!? He'd been throwing her around and now he was getting pissed? It just meant that Nessa's soul resilience was indeed beginning to increase, as otherwise it wouldn't have annoyed him so much. The knee came to her ribs hard and fast but she avoided them being broken only just. She cursed and flailed her arm around trying to smack him in the face with her gauntlet so she could get up and catch her breath. Already she felt sturdier and faster, so at least Arashi's training was helping in that regard. Hopefully having smacked him in the face with her shikai, Nessa would be able to spring away with a shunpo, wary of him following and attacking her as she exited her step. She was pushing her body to the absolute limit in order to get away.

[attr="class","aritext"]As his knee came down to her side he felt the impact being like that of two pieces of metal hitting. There wasn’t as much give to her body as before as she seemed to be improving defensively. He moved his arms around her body coiling like a snake. She flailed her arms wildly about smacking him in the side of his head with her gauntlets. His ears started ringing but he didn’t budge. He was purposely not going to let her move away. Arashi wanted to squeeze her entire chest with his arms as she continued to fight.
“You know how to pack a punch.” He smiled a bit as he got hit again. His head was beginning to throb a bit as he begun to push off the ground while trying to continue squeezing her. “I like them rough.” He added cheekily. Arashi wanted to throw her off with a little distraction as he was moving. The Shinigami intended to swing his entire body backwards and send her flying in the form of a suplex. He certainly hoped that she would be able to handle this otherwise she was going to be ending up in the infirmary.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Aug 7, 2018 19:16:09 GMT
It seemed that no matter how much Nessa struggled against him, Arashi wasn't going to let go, not at all. He decided that he was going to try and be cute and engage in some banter but Nessa simply wasn't interested at all. She wasn't going to bother engaging with it or coming up with a retort, instead focusing on what she had to do in order to not get hurt too much. He seemed to be keen on throwing her to the ground, which she wasn't a particularly big fan of. She condensed her reiryoku, and took the impact of the suplex on her hands, and finally wriggled free, flipping away with several shunpo and taking up a fighting stance.
"Well, I think I've learned a lot from that." she told him, guardedly. He seemed to be kind of pissed off now, and she wasn't exactly sure that she wanted to inspire any more rage in him as if they fought, she wasn't sure if she could win. Nonetheless she already felt that she had gotten a lot stronger and faster from observing him as he fought, and fighting with him. Especially with regards to her durability. She stretched, keeping constantly vigilant. "I appreciate you helping me with my training like this."

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi was still breathing heavy even after throwing her backwards. She seemed to be just fine though and was able to stop herself from being hurt. He smiled softly as he stood back to attention. He let out a yawn as he listened to her talk and shrugged a shoulder when she said that was probably enough. The Shinigami spat out the blood that had compacted into his mouth during their friendly spar. He felt the warm liquid also dripping out from his nostril still as he tried reaching into his clothes for a spar napkin.
“It’s no problem at all, but man..” He trailed off as closed off his right nostril and blew out his left. He wiped with a crumpled-up napkin from earlier in the day. “You sure have a hard head girl.” He came off a bit congested as he plugged the nostril with the remainder of the said napkin. “If you ever need some more help let me know but next time I don’t want to actually fight.” Arashi chuckled softly as he walked over to her. “You’re almost too much for me to handle now in a fight.” He grinned as he reached out to pat her on her left shoulder.
“How’ve you been by the way?” He asked as casually glanced over to the side. There were some critters running around the forest near them that caught his attention. It seemed all of them were roaming around again now that their sparring session ended. He turned his head back to her as he focused more on their conversation again.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Aug 9, 2018 12:55:55 GMT
Nessa barked with laughter at the hard-head comment. That was true in more than one regard, she was well aware. She took the tapped shoulder with aplomb, a single eyebrow raised sardonically at the napkin shoved into his nose. How very strange. He said she was edging towards a point where she'd be too difficult for him to fight; Nessa wasn't sure about that, as Arashi was still some five times faster than she was. But with her mask, and god forbid her bankai, maybe she stood a chance. Like him, it wasn't something she fancied testing any time soon.
"I've been..." Nessa paused. Her life at the moment was obsessing over the recruitment and the heartache of wondering if she could really ever go back. Arashi, with his double life... Did he ever experience those same crisis of identity? "I think they're recruiting. For the war. And I want to go back. I want to be home. I want to see my parents again." she admitted, with a frown. "But I don't know if they'd take me back, Arashi. And if I did I'd probably get made into a soldier, conscripted. 'Well take you back if you die for our cause'. Maybe Emilia had the right idea, settling in the human world." she told him, with a frown.

[attr="class","aritext"]He shrugged his shoulders a tad when she mentioned the whole thing about recruitment. It was obvious though that she did want to go back and since he had known her she always seemed to be burdening a weight. It seemed as if the thing she had inside of her that made her a vizard was also the same thing dragging her down. It was as if she was always carrying weights on her emotionally. He felt sympathetic as he wasn’t too sure what it was like for her. Sure, he had left the thirteen in disgrace siding with Olympus, but it was also for him to go undercover.
At this point though he had no reason to return, but there was still a part of him that hated it. He wished he never acted the way he did because for all he knew everyone wanted his head on a silver platter. The higher up seemed to know the truth but could his actions truly be justified in a way that would mean reinstatement. After all it had been a few months without contact with them and it was just making things seem worse. “You know I really don’t know what they are planning on doing. Sometimes I don’t really care either. I mean unlike you I don’t have anything to tie me to either world at this point. I’m just a little orphan that was sucked into this mess because some asshole with a lamp post decided to kill me.”
He glared at her to hint that this was not something to laugh at. Arashi felt some of the remaining sweat flying away as the wind flowed right under his hair. He could feel the temperature start to cool a tad as the shade started to encapsulate them. “Nessie, what is it you want to do in this world?” He asked sincerely as he himself still wondered what the point was. Maybe she could enlighten him unlike Tyrannus.
Post by VANESSA VÅRJEN on Aug 13, 2018 13:45:55 GMT
"With a lamppost? Hmm what?" Nessa was confused by what exactly Arashi meant. Was he referring to something that had happened during his defection, perhaps? His ambivalence was a little frightening, however. It meant that he was treading wherever was convenient for him... Nessa saw the potential dangers with that attitude. He wasn't on any side but her own. It was an attitude that at Arashi's level of strength, would have him thrown in the nest. Nothing tying him to Soul Society? Honour? Duty? Maintaining the balance for the good of the world and all its inhabitants?
Then he asked her what she wanted... She seemed for a moment as though she was about to answer, before pausing, shutting her mouth once more and sighing, sitting down on a tree stump. What did she want? In all honesty Nessa wanted to go home, but what then? A shinigami... No a visored of her power? What could she possibly do but work as a soldier. They wouldn't let her do anything else. Even if that weren't the case, would Nessa really be content living as a shopkeeper, or some other menial job for all of eternity? That could not possibly be so. Nonetheless, there was some tug from human!Ness that would definitely draw her towards such a menial existence.
"I don't know, Arashi." she said with another heavy sigh. "I used to... I used to thoroughly believe that all I wanted in the world was to gain more power." she laughed ruefully. "It was pretty arrogant, truth be told. Part of me honestly just wants some peace and quiet, yet here I am, running into a war head-first."

[attr="class","aritext"]Arashi listened to her as she spoke sincerely. It did not seem that she had anything to hide from him now. Since they were on the same page after nearly beating the crap out of one another. That first encounter was something, he still felt the lumps from her battering him, and winced as he felt his nose. She would always be a power player on the battlefield he only hoped she would not be used like a puppet by either side. He sat down in front of her with his legs crossed in front of his body.
It was refreshing to know that she was also unaware of what she wanted to do. He was in the exact same boat. A sinking ship falling into despair without any sort of life preserver. They both had options to join a side in the war that was ongoing but what was the point? Would he just continue to be a soldier forever or would he settle down in life? He let out a deep sigh as he started to have a mini existential crisis. His mind raced with possibilities of what to do in the future, but he was brought back to reality when a small bird landed on his hand.
“I hate that about this world. I felt the same way you did about power and always wanting it. I thought it would fix everything for me being the strongest Shinigami possible. Then, surprise, the quincy show up in full force exterminating everything in their path. This is some crazy stuff going on. In all honesty I just wish things could be simple.” He looked over to her with his squinted now from the sun shining right down on him. The white parchment was now a shade of red due to the blood being soaked into it.
“Whatever happened to working a regular job and coming home to spend the rest of the evening with a lovely lady? Now a days I must deal with a giant walking and talking monkey whose sole purpose in life is to destroy everything. Then I have extremists wanting to burn down the gotei thirteen because of the past events. And to top it all off I am constantly meeting these weird people who expect me to help them when they’re in a bind.” He groaned a bit as he was starting to go off in a tangent about his life. “Honestly! Why can’t I just find a nice girl and settle down? Someone who is pretty, sassy, and doesn’t always need me help? Someone like you.” The way he said the last part hinted at it being a joke though a sly look did cross his face for a moment.

Vanessa frowned. Peace, quiet... Sure, those were things she wanted. But simple? He had sighed, and now, Arashi complained about the big monkey. Was that not something he had volunteered himself for? The feeling she had had before of Arashi's ambivalence struck her once again. He seemed so fickle. This was not a person she would ever provide with a large amount of her trust. If she gave him her life, he'd just as easily throw it away if it suited him, it seemed like to her. And then... It was all some kinda goofy pickup line!? Nessa's face twitched with annoyance, and she, for a moment looked like she was going to erupt with anger before she merely sighed and laughed ruefully.
"Good joke, Arashi." she told him, before standing up and stretching, and yanking her blue robe back down as it began to creep apart over her bosom (though her modesty was preserved by a white under-robe). "But of all the wonderful things about me... I'm not nice." Nessa told him flatly. That was an illusion that she could at least dispel right at that moment. It was true. The girl that Arashi wanted was human!Ness. As much as Vanessa had tried to kill her inner hollow when dominating it, that sweet girl was the only true victim. "The next time I see you, I'm probably going to be stronger. And we're probably not going to be on the same side. For both our sakes, stay out of my way." she told him, her one eye looking away sadly.
"See you around." she told him, before casting Kyokko, and vanishing, out of sight and senses, leaving him alone on the hilltop.
