VOICe your opinion: Release variations
BM is back again with another voice your opinion thread! Today we’re asking for your opinions on Constant Release Shikai, Compressed Bankai, and Clad Type Fullbring. With the specialization perks release not that long ago, staff is looking is looking to update these release variations to make them less generic and to give members more of a choice when it comes to choosing them over standard release. We want to drop the current strait strength and speed buffs and replace them with perks unique to each of these variations, along with updating the downsides. So we’re putting the question out there to you guys: How would you like to see these release variations changed, if at all? Do you have any ideas for updated perks and downsides? Let us know. As always please be respectful of other people’s ideas and opinions. Debate and criticism are fine but discussions should be civil.

While release variations are the topic here, I'd like to draw some attention to a similar topic.
Dual Zan, despite the rarity in Shinigami, are limited yet give no battle perks except having two swords which don't matter with advantage system and whatever. RP-wise, there's the spirits coming in twins. Therefore, they should not be limited if not granting any perk.

Dual-Zan is supposed to be a rare in-universe. I don't see a point in giving them much of a perk aside from perhaps a bit more flexibility than usual with your power theme, reflecting the sense of duality in the release. Sort of like Shunsui's deal with his. He channeled the younger aspect of his zan to invoke the classic games children in Japan have played for years with Shikai. Whereas Bankai touched upon more mature forms of entertainment, Japan has enjoyed throughout the ages, such as Noh and Kabuki plays, and the adult themes and topics they touch upon as well, (i.e., Shinjū)
It's just my head-canon, but I'd imagine that to be how things sorta pan out. But I'm off topic.
Constant Release Shikai was only something that Ichigo demonstrated, and in fact, it seems like more of a determinant and an indicator of how unstable your reiryoku is. And with how Ichigo stabilized his powers at the end, it's meant to be something to be overcome and discarded, given time. But if we must, I'd imagine your reiatsu would have no chill mode. You'd be like Ichigo, just throwing out waves of energy all the time, wholly cloaked in massive flows of pressure, making you a giant beacon that can't hide, but helping to shrug off any damage or opposing pressure. Just a straight up juggernaut.
Compressed Bankai also seems like just a special exception for Ichigo as well, reflective of how a Quincy draws power in to do battle, whereas everyone else seems to just release their power into more spectacular, larger effects. Speed buffs and overall strength increases seem decent enough, but that compression could be expanded upon, to allow you to pack in energy into a sword beam, or energy released. You could have a small ball explode into this catastrophic burst of energy, increasing the attack power and range, while maybe paying a lower tiered cost?
I dunno. Sorry, I'm all over the place. Just wanted to get those thoughts on the table and maybe refine them later on

Perhaps adding a single variation that does not allow you to pick a specialization could be considered.

I agree. I'd say if you're doing something with constant, or compressed, you shouldn't be able to spec
