Joining the Gotei 13

In the aftermath of the Wandenreich's first appearance in Rukongai, the Gotei 13 learned an important lesson: They were woefully under-prepared to combat such an enemy whilst also maintaining balance between the mortal and spiritual worlds.

Amongst a myriad of other changes set into place by an emergency meeting of the central 46, it was decided that the protection of the human world and the soul society was no longer a task shinigami could undertake on their own. 

To this end, new wartime recruitment guidelines were put into effect, changing the existing systems used to note and monitor the existence spiritual beings outside of the Gotei's jurisdiction, into ones to recruit them. Clemency opportunities were put into place for rogue shinigami, vizard, are other races considered to be threats in the past: and, for the first time, these beings were given the opportunity to become official, acting members of the Gotei 13.

As promised, with the site officially moving into the 1000 year blood war arc for the foreseeable future, non-shinigami may now officially join the Gotei 13 in their war against the Wandenreich. Even characters who were previously at odds with the shinigami have been granted special clemency, allowing them to earn the trust of the Gotei 13 through their actions.

Joining the Gotei 13 is as simple as signing up in this thread, and grants you access to a number of special benefits, though it does carry in character implications as well. Your character will be expected to follow the rules of the Gotei 13, and take on their mission to maintain balance between the mortal and spiritual world. Most importantly, joining the Gotei 13 makes you an enemy of the Wandenreich.

Joining the Gotei 13 has a number of special benefits for your character. Most notably, Urahara Kisuke's reiatsu infused spirit blade method will be used to give you access to several powers of the shinigami. These include:

• The ability to perform the Konso on plus souls and purify hollows.
• The ability to learn and perform kidou spells, governed by your existing racial mastery, though you will be unable to learn Zen Sanshutsu Eishohaki, Nijū Eishō, or Kōjutsu Eishō.
• For races capable, you may be given the powers of a substitute shinigami upon becoming sufficiently powerful and proving your loyalty to the Gotei 13.

It should be noted that these powers come with the requirement that you remain a member of the gotei 13, and the process of gaining these powers also implants a contingency kill-switch that can be used to instantly strip said powers should the user leave the Gotei 13 or otherwise act against its interests.

On top of these implanted powers, you also gain access to the normal benefits of being a shinigami, such as squad perks, being healed by the 4th division, canon shinigami items, and commissioning custom items from the 12th division without needing the creation mastery.

You may also, with slightly more difficulty than normal shinigami, apply for Gotei 13 canon positions.

One final note concerning Quincy that desire to join the Gotei 13. This is allowed though it will be much more difficult that joining with other races. Because of the Wandenreich's existence, you will likely be more heavily monitored, and will not receive even the most basic of the above mentioned benefits until you have proven yourself an ally in character. This is determined on a case by case basis.

Sign-up is fairly straightforward, simply post with the account of the character you want to join and write up a description of how your character came to join the Gotei. For example:

-Were they recruited by a shinigami?
-Did they come themselves after hearing the shinigami were recruiting?
-Has your character had any previous interactions relevant to joining, such as being a criminal, from a race normally considered a threat to the Gotei, etc...?

This can be as long as short as you want but try and give at least some description of how and why it happened for the sake of the record.
