[OOC: Mind if I let you set the pace? :U]
Remi's squinted, her eyes prying past the morning light streaming past the tree branches, through the foliage on high. Though this was comfortably mild weather, the winds gave the forest air just a little bit of a refreshing nip. So many stone steps along the way, just thinking about it made her legs throb. So many Torii gates up the paved path, it was a wonder that her vision wasn't dyed entirely red. But now she was high above it all, peering out into the city skyline. All the buildings below the mountain looked so tiny from so high up, compared to just small and insignificant wandering the streets of Naruki made her feel at times. Or maybe, she had become a giant. She could see her apartment building too. She then reached out and pinched the building with all her might, squishing the puny humans inside. Well, at least she tried to do it. At least no one saw that or how goofy she looked covering her mouth, snorting, trying to stuff those giggles back into her gut where they belonged.
Just a little bit of clowning around was okay, right? After all, she had climbed the path all the way up to Hikari Shrine on her own and did it in fifteen minutes. Now how was that for a spirited jog? So much to do and so little time. The shrine was just another flight of steps above. She still had to make a few prayers, try out those fancy good luck charms she heard so much about too. Oh the thought of getting a taste of that authentic Japanese magic, she could hardly wait! She decided to do the climb on a bit of a whim, right after a quick bath and a quick run to the convenience store. She kept it nice and simple today. Loose fitting gray sweatpants made it easy to move about; the baggy white t-shirt did just as well. And of course, she had a black sports bra to protect her modest bits of modest proportions. She still had her plastic bag from Zippy Mart, along with all her "morning food provisions." And to top it all off, she didn't do her make-up, and her hair was a matted mess.
She looked like a doll straight off the assembly line that someone forgot to color and add features to.
Embarrassing. But at least no one was going to see all this right?
Vibrant colored halcyon days passed by without much thought for seasonal changes. At all points, nearly every day, dark attire fitted one individual's frame. Black short sleeve shirt untucked from black cloth pants. Some considered such clothes as sleeping attire however Aedan found comfort. Besides, these were designer made. Not cheap but also not ridiculously expensive. Strong yet comforting material was required. As a lover of martial arts Aedan sought good clothes. His jacket, however, was simply worn because he liked the flair. Messy hair and lithe frame yet muscles were toned, he seemed more like a swimmer than martial artist depending on viewpoint.
The male sat comfortably upon a thick branch near shrine entrance. Head rested in palms and elbows resting on crossed legs. He kept himself balanced, just keeping a faint, mischovous, smile while watching the sun rise. This whole place was nice and peaceful. The very mountain pulsed with life, both plant and animal but made everything peaceful. One could get caught up in the spiritual pulse given off by the area itself. Though these places always made him feel uncomfortable despite its welcoming, purifying, presence. Things were too peaceful, but his attention shifted. A momentary curious expression, mouth partly open, when eyeing a jogging woman. "Nice view, isn't it?" He smiled brightly, but he was referring to her rather than the morning sun.

Nani!?
That one word hissed throughout her head. No way! Someone had crept up into her blind spot, sneaking in with such skill, such pinpoint precision, all for the sake of remarking on the weather! Or maybe that was because she had distracted herself with thoughts of squashing buildings. Hm. But more importantly, they could see just how mindbogglingly bland she looked today! Her toes turned inward, her knees bent. Her feet were poised for a smooth turning pivot to face this mysterious voice, but then she remembered...If she turned around, her face would be seen. Err, now what was she going to do? As her legs wobbled in this awkward pose, she briefly mused upon hiding her face with her shirt, though that would expose her belly and undergarments. Nope. Take out her food and use the bag as a makeshift facemask? No, that was too weird. Oh, maybe she could run away in the opposite direction? If that was a viable option, she might as well quit coming out altogether. She had to face this head on, grab the bull by the horns! So she turned right on the dime, making an about-face to find absolutely no one behind her.
Yeah. Time to check the other blind spot.
So she glanced up into the mess of jagged, worming breaches above only to find a young man resting easily amongst the budding greenery. She resisted the urge to dig a hole in the ground in front of her and stick her face in it and paid no mind to the familiar heat, that crimson flush that pussyfooted all along her cheeks. Instead, she meekly waved and started jogging towards the final stretch of stairs.
"Yup!"
Yup? Really? That's the best she could muster? Go figure. Oh well. Time to see what the shrine was like.
Demonic creatures called Hollow rarely visited sacred ground. Places as Naruki Shrine naturally produced dense spiritual energy. From what Aedan knew about energy flow underground things called leylines were like the planet’s lifeblood. This altered planet and animal life to be extremely abundant; beauty mixed with danger, and the land wasn’t the only thing that was pretty. Though her appearance plain, Aedan wouldn’t complain. Seeing a woman who was in workout clothes was attractive. However, something else was interesting too. Her spiritual energy seemed modest, robust but that could just be Naruki Shrine affecting his senses. Falling forwards, he landed on feet and followed behind. Through the gates, he came to a quiet scene.
imgur.com/a/nySLU It was like a different world. Different from the steps which was sacred, the land here was almost cut off from the outside. Few monks were visible. One carrying water while another meditated at pond side. A heavy pressure bore down upon Aedan’s shoulders. His chest sank inside his stomach, his will clashing against the small world. Tense muscles warmed and even his fighting spirit was cooling. The red dragon inside his chest was being drowned , walking here, even breathing, was almost like being under water. Even for people who couldn’t detect Reiatsu, they would feel a sense of peace here. But for someone like Aedan, well atuned to the spiritual world and with a strong fighting spirit, he felt as though he may drown. Different from those who didn’t possess such a fire inside them. Aedan’s smile vanished with a more serious expression. ”Here to pay your respects?” Aedan bent down, placing his hand onto the ground. The dirt felt warm, full of life.

"Woah..."
She didn't pay it too much mind before, but while she was standing at the entrance of the temple like this, she could feel the ambient energies throughout coming through in waves. Opening up her third eye even further, she could feel it lapping across her skin, enveloping her, piercing her core. It makes sense, doesn't it? The overabundance of life, how high and mighty the trees and shrubs grew, and how unusually hearty they were, and that revitalizing feeling she felt every time she breathed in that crisp mountain air. It did bring about a bit of self-reflective thinking on her part though. Remi was always reasonably skilled when it came to feeling out the reiatsu of others when she focused. And yet, that focus was quickly lost. Perhaps in addition to those fancy charms, she could take a few pointers from these monks, especially that bald one meditating by the pond and giving off those ephemeral, feel-good vibes. Perhaps now it was the time to try. As she made her first steps past the gates, a strange sense of calm settled within her heart, clearing her mind, allowing her to observe the world around her full. To...!
"Here to pay your respects?”
Je jure par Dieu!! Again?! Where the heck did he come from?! Well, she knew the answer to that question, as this time, she readily cut her eyes to catch him right at her side. It wasn't so much as she was surprised, or completely shocked. It was more along the lines of she had immersed herself so deeply in feeling out the environment, she didn't take note of her immediate surroundings. Well, he did seem kind enough for the average stranger, making conversation even if she was awkward and what not. She could at least return that kindness. From out of her plastic bag, held in a shaky grip and somewhat clammy fingers, there was a bottle of Suntory Bikkle held out, ripe for the taking. It looked a little odd in that black container, with the red label, and syrupy yogurt within. But one sip of the stuff, and you'd swear by it. That sweet, yet tart first taste, the wonderful sweetness from there on out. It was like a liquid birthday cake, and you'd never want to drink anything else.
"Just exploring... but do you want a drink?"
Good start. If only she could stop her lips from quivering and rid herself of the rosy blush. She had to still her heart. Being seen like this wasn't that big of a deal...
