Many nights hard ground meet with pouring sweat. How many broken fingers wrists and ankles did Aedan go through during one season? Aedan long lost count as years passed by, instead focusing mostly on mentally preparing himself for his current task. Worrying over those ‘needless’ problems only held Aedan back. Of course, that didn’t mean knew some big secret hidden from others. The young man had just finished wrapping up his left hand with white bandages, using folded mint leafs as a pain killer. Air sharply expelled from his nose as he violently sneezed, messy black hair now covering his face. No matter how many times Aedan used mint leafs they still bothered his nose.
That tingly sticky scent clung into Aedan’s nose but he didn’t dare smell his own musk. A sickened expression and churning stomach, Aedan removed his long black coat and gee-like white cloth shirt and black pants. A quick jump into a clean river but before Aedan realized his wraps got wet, causing him to redo it after his bath. Aedan and his clothes finally dred off near and over a nighttime fire Aedan let out a yawn and sat himself down against a tree, musing over nothing while gazing emptily off into space.
After everything was dry he placed back on his favored black short and pants, leaving shoes and socks off for time being. Right elbow hitting a tree caused a single apple to drop. Caught in hand he took a bite but then three more fell down hitting his head. “That, meh.” He grumbled over his, now, sore head. Yeah, bad luck. Why’d things end up like that so often for him? He hits something then something else falls on him. Life was weird, maybe some goddess cursed him. Weird situations happened often around Aedan. Things like that apple falling onto his head among other things. One such events was when getting comfortable atop a sturdy limb, in his daze, fell off onto the ground below; or whatever was below him at the time.

Rukia sighed as she passed through a forest in the world of the living. She'd been assigned to patrol the area for the day, though she really would have preferred a residential area... At least there would be humans there to speak to. Patrolling a forest was admittedly lonely. If only the shinigami who was supposed to patrol hadn't gotten into a brawl the other day... Then Rukia wouldn't be in this mess like this!
...Ah well. The ravenette supposed she didn't have a choice. It was an order and all orders were to be obeyed. Such were the laws of Soul Society. Obey or die.
Still, it made her think somewhat. Why was it even necessary for a shinigami to patrol this area...? Hollows didn't often appear in forests, as people and spirits didn't often inhabit them. Was there perhaps a fugitive shinigami living here...? It certainly made sense if that was true... Hmm, Rukia supposed she would find out soon enough, and if she found nothing, she would simply have to ask her captain.
"Hmm? What was that noise?" the ravenette muttered to herself, upon hearing the sound of something hard hitting something else, followed by a faint voice. Was there actually someone else here...? Had her suspicions been right all along? With a hand at the hilt of her zanpakuto, Rukia inched forward. Now that she was focusing, she could indeed sense another reiatsu nearby... But where? After a few more steps, she blinked at the realization that the reiatsu was above her. Rukia glanced upwards just in time to see someone fall right on top of her.
Tonight would be a horrible night for Aedan if he attended school. The young man, who didn’t long for continuing education, found comfort in sleeping whenever, and wherever, possible. A nice dinner followed by bath and nap was Aedan’s goal however his tossing and turning brought trouble. The male’s light frame landed atop something soft. Since when was soil, even soft soil, like a pillow; a body pillow at that. “Should’ve gotten a bigger branch.” Right hand was on ground, near Rukia’s head, while left was pressed against something soft. There wasn’t much there a faint squeeze made Aedan think of peaches. To bad there were only apple trees around here. And it was to soft to be an apple.
Face still sleepy he faintly frowned with a groan while looking down. There, right below him, was a woman dressed in all black. Short raven hair. This, this was a dangerous position. Squeeze. “Yo.” He said with a tired, and casual, expression and tone of voice. Quickly retracting his hands to shoulder height, holding them up he chuckled. He was still over her in her lap. “Seems I’ve came across an interesting problem.” Aedan scooted backwards with a faintly nervous expression. “Didn’t mean to cop a feel there. Kind’a just, fell-” And like that, the a crack from above. A tree branch fell right atop Aedan’s head and split in two.
Hands on head and eyes shut tightly close he was huddled over into a fetal position. Given he was a normal human, that would’ve killed him.

The collision was, admittedly, a little painful. Rukia groaned as she felt her body ache somewhat and was glad when the pain finally subsided. She blinked her eyes open, unsure of when she had even closed them, and instantly felt something...odd.
Was that...a hand...on her chest?!
Her cheeks instantly lit up red at the realization that the man on top of her had a hand on her chest! The ravenette watched with wide eyes as the man simply muttered a tired, "Yo," then seemed to nonchalantly analyze the situation. Before Rukia could get in a good clobber, the man scooted away, apologizing about what had just happened. Once the man was gone, Rukia immediately wrapped her arms around her chest, feeling suddenly almost naked. And then a tree branch broke off from the tree above, slamming into the man's head with an audible crack before splitting into two.
Just what... What had happened?
"Y-Y-You...!" Rukia managed to say, having finally found her voice, though the more she thought about what had happened, the more speechless she became. Never before had the ravenette been so humiliated...! And here the man was cradling his head in a fetal position.
"H-How dare you..." Rukia added, tempted to give the man another bump to match the one the branch had given him...!
This entire situation wasn't bolding well for Aedan considering what happened. Troublesome females caused problems, especially when dressed oddly as who, or what, he stumbled across. What person dressed like that these years and carried around a katana. Damn, was she some samurai or cosplayer? His skull knocked, not once but, twice gave Aedan enough information she wasn't completely normal! Spiritual power, though suppressed, shocked Aedan's sixth sense. Right hand rubbed over where he was thrice struck, blurry vision slowly gaining clarity. "Don't blame me for your chest-" His irritated tone and response halted with teeth purposely biting tongue. He didn't dare continue.
Left hand's fingers dug into soil with Aedan sighing. Head hung low with closed eyes. Placing right hand on nearby tree for support he helped himself up. "So much for an angel falling from heaven." Lips turned into a partial cynical smile and tone with a hint of joy; was he poking fun at her or himself with that statement? Left hand placed on respective hip, his right hand slid into coat pocket with narrow eyes focused on her. "So, bad luck or good luck?" Once again in that same tone but, once again, was it directed towards her or himself? "Say, Samurai Lady, what's your opinion on this matter?" Damn him and his luck, but destiny was always one of those funny things. Whether or not this samurai was one or the other Aedan knew one thing - Something was off about her. Almost, phantasmal.

At Aedan's insistence that he wasn't to blame for her chest, Rukia had half a mind to clobber him on the head again, but fortunately for him, Aedan managed to stop himself just in time. Rukia merely huffed at him, ready to practically chew Aedan's head off with her words, but she hesitated after getting a good look at the twenty-year old. At the man's cynical statement, Rukia cocked a brow, not sure whether he had been talking to her still. What was wrong with this man?
...And then that brought about another question: he could see her!? Rukia had nearly forgotten that most humans couldn't see her... That meant this man had quite the spiritual potential...! At Aedan's question, Rukia blinked, unsure of how to respond.
Truly, was it good luck or bad luck that she had happened upon him...?
"...I suppose that would depend on how you judge our meeting," the ravenette responded after a moment's pause. After all, depending on the powers this man possessed, it was possible that Soul Society would get involved. Of course... That also depended on whether or not she even reported him to her superiors... Well, if Rukia didn't happen upon him again, the ravenette supposed she didn't have to include him in her reports.
People perceived situations differently alongside how solving those problems. Perception played an important role in how people lived their daily lives; one person may think someone is wrong while another correct. The female certainly didn’t mind bashing Aedan moments ago however she might’ve perceived him perverted. If he was female he doubtfully would like someone grabbing his chest out’ve nowhere. A lot, or not, large chests hindered one’s battle prowess so petite builds were tasteful for Aedan. Both their small frames allowed for certain movements larger muscled warrior’s couldn’t, or found difficulty performing said maneuvers. These thoughts were currently paramount with Aedan’s drifting eyes analyzing various aspects from her facial structure, hair style, shoulders, and lower portions. Much was to be discovered. Aedan’s left hand rested on hip with right fingers rubbing chin as he glanced over in thought.
Baggy, black, robes prevented much analyzing. He was curious for more knowledge but something else bugged him more than her appearance. Transparent, at a base, refined but almost unreal; as though she held no physical substance. Eyes continues looking over her but looked past and more what was around her, the very life she radiated naturally. This pulse was different from his own, he’d felt something like it before but where he was unsure. ”I’m no fisherman, but, if I was I’d say I got a nice catch.” Between her looks, her attire, and what she was; she could take it in any three of those ways and he purposely phrased it that way. Truthfully, all three were his focus, more so the latter two. Flat open hands moved to shoulder height, eyes opened with a smile as though asking for her input or simply making a statement. But this his hands moved into coat pockets. ”I’m sure you’ve already realized I shouldn’t be able to see you.” That’s right, a bit of time passed, enough silence, for thoughts to collect and calculate.
”At least, I don’t think I should. I’ve ran across spirits before. Are you suppose to be the soul of a lost samurai? Sorry, but I don’t have the power to exorcise you and send you into the afterlife. So, Samurai, I wonder just how much physical contact I could make with your body.” His wordscould be taken, once again, as perverse but his mind wasn’t on that right now. His brows furrowed for a moment, almost intercepting his own statement, with lips frowning for a moment before shifting back to a smile. ”My apologies, that came out wrong. I’m merely thinking about what it’d be like to fight something like you. Not…-that- kind of touch. Not that you are not cute, believe me, you are.”
