Snow dancing around her like a thousand flower petals 13th Squad Vice-Captain Kuchiki
@open
Rukia watched the people pass by from the rooftop she was standing on. Karakura Town... Initially, it had been a simple, quaint town to her, but after she had lost most of her Shinigami Powers and resided at the town for some time... Well, it had come to feel like a second home for her. Truly, a home away from home, as the saying goes. Rukia grinned as a group of three children played with each other and laughed, running along the streets. Rukia loved seeing the children play. It reminded her that there was still innocence in the world... Something pure that was filled with goodwill and love. The ravenette was sure that the children would grow up to be wonderful adults.
"Hmn..." Rukia suddenly paused, eyes glancing to her left.
She was being watched.
But by who? And since when was she being watched? The Shinigami was so certain that she had passed through to Karakura alone...
Well, it didn't matter. Rukia needed to first learn who this was. She was sure that whoever it was, they had already figured out that she knew they were there. So, she turned around slowly, saying, "Who's there? Show yourself!"
Notes: Open to anyone~ Though, I'm going to thrust my other character in here, too, once I find a template for her. Just a heads-up.

Like a rainbow, ever vibrant Innocent and pure 11th Squad Hibiki Matsuda
@tag - #000
Silvery-blonde hair flashed in the light as Hibiki leaped onto a nearby rooftop. Hmm... She was sure she'd seen the 13th Squad's vice-captain come this way... The girl had yet to meet Kuchiki-fukutaichou and wanted to see the famous shinigami. Hibiki had heard a lot about Rukia Kuchiki and somehow had a feeling the duo might get along. The girl’s head whipped from right to left as she searched for any sign of Rukia.
”Oh! There she is!” Hibiki muttered to herself as she could just make out Rukia’s figure in the distance. The vice-captain was also standing on a rooftop and seemed to be looking at people passing by. Hibiki blinked when she saw a group of children playing together. The girl felt a pang of jealousy at that, though it quickly disappeared.
So what if she never had that sort of childhood...? It was fine.
She was fine.
Hibiki leaped from rooftop to rooftop, careful to keep her footsteps quiet to surprise Rukia, though she had only gotten half of the way before Rukia unexpectedly turned around. Hibiki quickly hid behind a telephone pole to avoid being seen, but it seemed to be too late, as Rukia shouted for her to “reveal herself”. A little disappointed, the child leaped out from her hiding spot and waved at Rukia.
”Hello, Kuchiki-san! It’s an honor to meet you!” Hibiki said with a giggle. Ah well, if she was found, she was found.

Huh. That's odd.
Raiden looked up to the building where the two shinigami were present. Pocketing his hands and spitting out what was now a butt of the cigarette he had lit before. He pressed his foot down and suddenly disappeared from sight, a small mark of reiryoku appearing behind both Rukia and Hibiki. He knew the face of the first. A vice-captain. Here and now? It was very strange. He didn't however, know the other shinigami. Never even saw her before. And he was in his human form, didn't sense any kind of hollow in close proximity.
He was well clad, brushed off. A tie, neat whiteshirt with rolled sleeves and a spot-free sleeveless vest. A serious face, a cold visage. Dead eyes that testified of someone's sentimentality being more than just scarred by battle. It was a known fact he was a muderer. The once prestigous and almost heroic substitute shinigami. Not only people in his represented squad, but others who looked up to him now lost an idol. Two fronts had started after he was let go again. The front that defended him, stating the act of Fuurinji was self defense. The other front found it unforgivable and believed the substitute had to die before Fuu. Technically, the third one was people just not caring. And he counted himself among the third at this time. He didn't give a damn about it all anymore.
"Is there a problem, Kuchiki-fukutaicho?" He asked, pulling up the wooden badge from his pocket to prove his legitimacy. "Raiden Saitou, Seventh squad representative," before he pushed it back in his pocket again.
Description: If a wound is inflicted on the target that draws blood, no matter how shallow, it doesn't stop bleeding until 5 posts passed, or if Raiden closes the knife again. Depending on the wound, it can cause light nausea if it are small wounds, or, death by bloodloss, if the wound is deep enough.
Name: Splatter
Class: Human power
Tier: I
Type: Passive
Range: Long, 100 meters
Description: Blood starts to cover the playing field, it's time to make some more splatters. Splatter allows the user to move and control all spilled blood in the area. Controlling blood inside one's veins doesn't work as long as they have one advantage less than the user, at least. Control also means that the blood can solidify or dissipate. This is not restricted to movement.
The blood controlled by this technique travels at cero speed.
Name: Body fling
Class: Human stepping
Type: Stepping
Range: up to 100 meters
Tier: I
Description: Focussing on the reiatsu under his feet, he propels himself towards given direction with explosive speed. Causing the ground to shatter underneath his point of start. He marks the destination with a faint glow from his reiatsu as a sense of direction. This can also be used in shinigami form. There does not have to a glow of reiatsu when he uses his zanpakutou as anchor for this technique. Various of these spots can appear at the same time to chain up the stepping technique or cause confusion on a target.
To say that Rukia was surprised by Hibiki was an understatement. She blinked down at Hibiki, a little taken back by the child's sudden appearance. And yet, Rukia also felt a pang of sorrow. She always felt terrible whenever she saw a child shinigami... Children were supposed to live happy and safe lives, far from the serious and dangerous duties of a shinigami's. Not like this. Still, the ravenette supposed she didn't exactly live a wonderful childhood, but she was different. The child standing before her seemed so frail...
"You-" Rukia began, trying to find words to say, but she cut herself off when another presence suddenly made himself known. At first, she instinctively moved a hand to the hilt of her Zanpakuto, but once she got a good look at the newcomer and heard Raiden introduce himself, Rukia relaxed. A fellow shinigami. Well, a substitute shinigami, judging from the wooden badge Raiden had shown her, though Rukia still counted the substitute shinigami as her fellow kinsmen.
"No, there's nothing amiss. I suppose I was simply reminiscing..." Rukia responded to reassure Raiden. Something about Raiden's name rang a few bells in the ravenette's mind, but she couldn't quite place it just yet. Rukia glanced back down at Hibiki and sighed. What was the child doing out here...? Seeing as how Hibiki didn't have a badge, it was likely the girl was an unseated shinigami.
"What are you doing out here?" Rukia asked the silverette, though her tone was rather soft and gentle, not at all reprimanding.
Hibiki smiled wide at Rukia, a little proud that she managed to surprise the older shinigami after all. It was the child part of Hibiki that always made her want to surprise others like this, so she enjoyed it whenever it happened. But then, Hibiki was the one surprised, when an older man suddenly appeared, prompting Hibiki to jump a little. That was really surprising! The silverette gaped at the older man but immediately relaxed when the man introduced himself. A representative? That meant...what again? Hibiki couldn't remember.
Ah well. Rukia seemed okay with him, so that meant it was okay with Hibiki, too! After all, Rukia could be trusted.
"Oh, you're a shinigami, too, mister? It's nice to meet ya! My name's Hibiki Matsuda! I'm from the 11th Squad!" the silverette piped, giggling all the while. She was meeting lots of people today, it seemed. Would this man be her friend, too? Hibiki blinked when Rukia turned back to her and asked what the child was doing here. Wasn't it obvious?
"I wanted to talk to you, Kuchiki-san!" the shinigami replied, eyes all aglow. "I hear a lot of stories about you! So, I wanted to be your friend! Is that okay?" Hibiki tilted her head to the side, wondering if she had made a mistake by following Rukia like this. She wouldn't want the vice-captain to hate her...

Raiden had raised a brow when the vice-captain reached for her zanpakutou almost instinctively. If anything, he couldn't hide his presence. So he made no effort towards trying either. And that resulted in a very powerful presence at all times. His hand was constantly clenched around the small barber's knife, though. Mutual wariness seemed to be like it always was. Then the little one piped up, causing Raiden to arch an eyebrow and look over to Hibiki. Taking a deep breath and snorting softly. If anything, he shared the sentiment Rukia had. This girl was too young to be thrown in and be toyed with by the waves of war and conflict. Children weren't supposed to be soldiers.
There were goddamn laws against it in the real world.
The annoyance, however, was barely visible on his face. He just nodded. "Yo," was the only greeting he had for Hibiki at the time. He glanced back at Rukia as the little girl spoke again, frowning momentarily. "Am I interrupting something, then?" He asked, tilting the hand in his pocket slightly to take a look at his watch. "It's almost lunch time," he murmured to himself. Not really adressing Rukia or Hibiki in particular, before glancing back up at the two.

Snow dancing around her like a thousand flower petals 13th Squad Vice-Captain Kuchiki
When Rukia heard Hibiki introduce herself, she was, admittedly, rather surprised to hear that Hibiki was a member of the 11th Squad. After all, the squad was known for specializing in combat, and it was incredibly rare to see such a young child be a member. That meant the child had a lot of combat potential... It was even more saddening to realize that. The child was too young to be learning how to battle.
"My...friend?" Rukia parroted when she heard Hibiki's response. Well... That was certainly surprising. Not that Rukia wasn't flattered, of course. Most people kept their distance from her. "Oh, well, I'm flattered... I would gladly be your friend." The ravenette supposed it wouldn't be too bad. Not to mention the child would be better protected with Rukia by her side. 11th Squad or not, Rukia didn't want the child to have to defend herself alone. At Raiden's question, the ravenette shook her head.
"Not at all. You're welcome to accompany us, if you'd like," Rukia responded. She blinked when Raiden remarked that it was nearly lunchtime. She hummed, thoughtful for a moment, before turning towards Hibiki.
"Are you at all hungry? It's a good time as any to eat," she asked.

The girl grinned at Rukia when the ravenette looked surprised at her words. So the vice-captain didn't hate her, after all! Hibiki's grin grew even wider when Rukia accepted her friendship. Full of glee, the silverette leaped upwards, causing her silvery-blonde locks to bounce up and down with her. She let out a cheer, hopping up and down, then stopped and let out a loud gasp. She couldn't just make friends with Rukia when there was someone else here, too! That would be rude! So, she turned towards Raiden, swiveling on the ball of her foot, and asked, "Do you want to be my friend, too? One can never have too many friends!" She looked at him with sparkling eyes, hoping that he, too, would accept her friendship.
It was always good to have friends, after all!
Then, Rukia spoke up again, catching Hibiki's attention. "Hungry?" she repeated, tilting her head at Rukia's question. Well, now that she thought about it, the child supposed she was a little bit hungry. "Hmm... I guess I am a little hungry..." She turned back to Raiden again and asked if he was hungry, too. Food always tasted better when you ate it with other people, and Hibiki was a little curious about Raiden. He seemed different from most shinigami, so she wanted to know more about him, too.

Raiden had quickly tuned out from the ongoing conversation, an adamantine gaze settling off into the distance, his back towards the two substitute shinigami, having forgotten where he was headed in the first place. It was getting increasingly difficult to focus, caught himself backtracking more than once, forgetting about menial tasks and chores. Holes in his memory and what not. Whatever was placed on him that sanctioned his freedom, it wasn't doing too well on his mental well-being. Hands settled into pockets once again and a soft wind tugged at the crooks in his shirt. He seemed to be calm, serene even. Hibiki's voice, directed immediately at him, caused him to wake from his ponderings and glance over his shoulder. Sizing the child up once more.
So young, so naïve. The remark was correct up until a certain age. And until your life took a certain turn. But somewhere, it told him that this child hadn't lost her innocence completely yet.
"Yeah. Getting a bit peckish. And sure, I'll be your friend." Came the answer to the young'un's request. Accompanied with a soft exhale, before he glanced back off into the distance. "How did you become a shinigami, Matsuda-chan?" He asked, his shoulders lifting with another deep breath before he turned around, slicking messy hair back. "And.. Why did you?" The same adamant, blue gaze befell the young shinigami now. It was harsh, cold and emotionless. None of the warmth his eyes used to have had remained. "Though I ain't sure how you two are able to order anything."

Rukia grinned down at Hibiki when the child seemed to take her up on her offer, though she felt somewhat uneasy when Hibiki then turned towards Raiden. There was just something about the substitute shinigami that seemed to rub her the wrong way... It wasn't anything he'd said or done, but just his face and name seemed to put Rukia on edge. Was she forgetting something? Had she met him before, by any chance?
Upon hearing Raiden's response to Hibiki's question, Rukia relaxed some. Really, she was starting to get ahead of herself these days... Seeing as how friendly Raiden was being to Hibiki, there was no way he was dangerous or suspicious...
At least, Rukia thought that way until Raiden's disposition suddenly changed. The atmosphere around him felt colder as he asked Hibiki how she became a shinigami and why. Raiden's gaze was steely and cold, just like stone, and Rukia was taken back for just a moment. What was he planning? The ravenette contemplated stepping in to protect Hibiki, but then again... Hibiki was somewhat suspicious, as well. Before today, Rukia had never heard of nor seen the child in Soul Society. The silvery-blonde seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Not to mention the fact that she was so interested in Rukia and that the child was somehow a member of the 11th Squad. So, the ravenette hung back to listen to what would happen, though she would step in if things took a turn for the worse.

Hibiki's face immediately broke out into a wide smile when Raiden responded that he would indeed be her friend. She hopped up and down excitedly, just as she had done when Rukia had told her she would also be her friend. Two new friends in one day...! That was a new record! But then, Raiden's face suddenly turned very scary when he asked her how and why she became a shinigami. Did she make a mistake to become one? Was that why her new friend looked so angry? And Rukia was suddenly quiet... Should Hibiki tell them?
"O-Oh... Did I make a mistake?" she muttered, awkwardly fiddling with a lock of her hair. "I'm sorry..." Hibiki frowned, looking somewhat dejected. Already her new friend seemed to hate her... Well, the silvery-blonde might as well answer his questions, right? She didn't want him to get angry... But then, thinking about it always made her cry...
"I don't remember a lot of what happened, but it happened when I was with my second daddy," Hibiki answered, looking a little like she might cry. "I remember my second daddy and I were running from something, then we were surrounded by a bunch of these men. They kept hurting my daddy." The child continued on with her story, though it was rather vague and parts of the story seemed to be missing, as she couldn't quite remember it all. But once she got to the point about her father no longer moving, she couldn't seem to hold herself back and began to bawl. And once Hibiki started to cry, her own reiatsu reacted accordingly, her feelings of anguish and despair causing her reiatsu to lash out. Of course, she didn't quite mean to do so... The reiatsu, while typically welcoming and warm, was now sharp and harsh, like a million needles digging into the skin. Unstable wing-like energies furled around the child protectively.
Notes: and there she blows! feel free to get a little rough with her; she can take hits like a champ
Raiden turned to Hibiki again, glancing up as the reiatsu bore down on him. He seemed unphased by any means. The child was strong. But by no means strong enough. He felt it, but even in his human form, he was tough enough to deal with it. A soft breath left him as the child broke down completely. He glanced at Rukia, she had been silent during the explanation. Raiden pulled up his substitute shinigami badge again and pressed against his chest. Human body slumping through him, down to the ground. And out stepped the shinigami. A brilliant piece of armour covered his left arm from shoulder down to his hand. Vibrant due to cleanliness and neatly decorated with golden trim around the edges. It looked massive, but the shinigami moved as if it was naught but a feather. Shihakushou slumped underneath his armpit, bandages covering his chest. He was a man people would rally behind. Yet there was a sort of vine-y tattoo in his neck that seemed to be creeping up to his face. Disappearing underneath the bandages. If anything, it seemed to be kidou corps' doing.
His face, however, was scarred horrendously. One large scrape across his eye, shutting it permamently. Another from his lip through his cheekbone. A large burn scar from his neck running up to his ear. Scarred by countless battles. He glanced at Rukia once more. A man people used to follow, but now, had fallen in degeneracy.
His eye was devoid of life by any and all means, before he shook his head and moved over to Hibiki, stopping infront of her and kneeling down.
And like that, he pulled her into a hug. A hug only a father or big brother could pull off. Comforting and warm. The subsitute couldn't be bothered by the reiatsu nor any abilities thrown at him. He was able to shrug it off slightly. It's just pain. It would just be another damned scar.
"You didn't make any mistakes," he answered. The smallest hint of warmth returning to his voice. "It was someone else who made them here."
Snow dancing around her like a thousand flower petals 13th Squad Vice-Captain Kuchiki
To say Rukia hadn't expected Hibiki to begin crying was an understatement. She was even more shocked at how strong Hibiki's reiatsu was. The instant Hibiki's reiatsu had gone out of control, it was like a rush of power suddenly spread throughout the area, blowing back Rukia's shihakushou. Sure, the reiatsu wasn't enough to really harm Rukia; the child was strong, but Rukia was still stronger. Even so, it was surprising to see the child have such raw power and potential... She glanced at Raiden, a little unsure what to do. The man was staring at her, as well, though he soon seemed to turn back towards Hibiki. Right... Rukia needed to comfort the child right away! She moved to get closer to Hibiki, only to find that Raiden had already beaten her to the punch. The ravenette blinked, not having expected the substitute shinigami to have gone so far as to slip out of his human body to comfort the girl...
Another look at Raiden seemed to make him even more familiar to Rukia. The sight of the substitute shinigami was rather breathtaking. The man seemed like a natural-born leader from the way he carried himself. Rukia likely would have mistaken him for a squad captain had she not already known he was a substitute shinigami... But that was besides the point...! The ravenette turned back to Hibiki, gently putting a hand on the girl's head to soothe her.
"He's right, you know. You haven't made a mistake at all," Rukia said softly. She hoped this would be enough to calm Hibiki down, as, admittedly, Raiden was beginning to catch her interest. Why was he so familiar? Searching through Rukia's memories, she vaguely remembered something about a rogue shinigami... Addressing Raiden, Rukia asked if he was alright, seeing as how he'd also gotten the full brunt of Hibiki's reiatsu, though seeing as how he was still standing upright and could even move, Rukia supposed he was fine.

Hibiki hadn't really expected to be hugged like this, but... It wasn't so bad. It had been a very long time since the girl was last embraced warmly... The warmth of the hug reminded Hibiki of her parents and her foster father, but it wasn't at all painful. Rather, Hibiki felt just a tad more peaceful...
Then she realized she'd accidentally unleashed her reiatsu, which caused the silvery-blonde to look both Raiden and Rukia up and down to see if they were alright. The last time Hibiki had broken down like this and let loose her reiatsu, the weaker students at the shinigami academy had all fallen unconscious...
"Ah, I'm sorry!" Hibiki shouted at the realization that she might have hurt her new friends. Immediately, the reiatsu seemed to calm down as she attempted to rein it in, enough to the point it was back to its usual gentleness. She looked absolutely terrified that her reiatsu had gone out of control so easily... Hibiki glanced back at Rukia and Raiden, looking rather flustered. The little shinigami didn't know what she would have done if she'd actually managed to hurt the duo... The thought nearly made Hibiki burst into tears again before she realized that that would only make things worse. Cautiously, she asked, "A-Are you okay?"
Notes: totally forgot to post with Hibiki kek im the worst i know orz
"I'm fine," he assured Rukia with a swift glance, before diverting his attention back to the girl. Sitting back on his knee as Hibiki calmed down. He padded Hibiki's softly and the corners of his mouth twitched up in the hint of a smile. Though it barely could be called an actual smile. Then he leaned back on his knee and stood up properly, ruffling her hair as she shouted her apology. "Don't worry, little'un," he reassured again, letting out a soft breath. "Yeah, it's fine. I'm pretty tough." Raiden cided with a soft shake of his head, stepping back from Hibiki to allow her some room to breathe.
And now, up close and compared to both the platinum haired girl and the ravenette, he seemed to be a collossus of a man. Certainly with both their small and frail forms in mind. Though then again, size only carried you so far in this world. Though he seemed to notice the vice-captain's gaze. The inquisitive look in her eyes. The unshakable feeling she had met him before. He wasn't technically rogue, rather out on parole. Constantly monitored and ready to be soul slept at a moment's notice, that was the hideous reality he had to live with now. The price of defending himself.
The cold, cobalt eye now directly staring into Rukia's. "Startin' to jog yer memory?" Hell, even Byakuya knew him by face and convicted him a disgusting murderer. Though the central 46 had disagreed.
