APPEARANCE
Ion's gigai appears to be a tanned young woman in her preteens. Short and thin to the point of emaciation, her graceful motion and joie de vivre cannot disguise the obvious fact that she is a very sick individual. Her clothing only serves to emphasize this fact: most of it is well worn or ragged, and she wears a set of facial protective gear (goggles and mask).

PERSONALITY
Ion is naturally upbeat but shy, forced to keep to herself to avoid attracting the attention of beings who want her dead simply for being a mod soul. This has created a sincere desire for people to trust, but having given that trust too freely in the past (resulting in her near execution at least twice), she realizes that she can't be as free with herself as she might otherwise prefer to be.
Beneath this positive outlook and innocence, however, lurks danger. Ion doesn't understand the destructive potential of her abilities and, more problematically, is completely unable to comprehend that "radiation soaked" is not a desirable state for the average organic. Complaints about that sort of thing fall on deaf, seriously confused ears. Crafted as a weapon (and, more specifically, quite early during Project Spearhead, before all the kinks had been worked out), she naturally finds herself attracted to violence as an option, considers it a natural part of existence (and an entertaining one at that).
HISTORY
INCOMPLETE
Ion is an old school mod soul, one of the first generation created by Hikifune (or, rather, she was one of the original artificial souls, some of which were modified to create the mod souls, rather than being created from whole cloth). She wasn't quite among the first batch, but she was near the end of the alpha series. This is positive and negative. On the one hand, some of the later restrictions were not placed on her core structure. On the other hand, the alpha series contained no small number of mental instabilities. Ion was late enough in the project to avoid the obvious ones, but she is a defect. Compounding this problem is the fact that MORE HERE Her status as a weapon has infected her personality. Despite the upbeat and cheery attitude she projects, she is fundamentally a destructive individual, immicable to all life.
During her early years, when Project Spearhead was still running and mod souls saw regular use, Ion was in her prime. Utterly ruthless to hollows and slavishly loyal to her creator, she stood out as a prime example of what the project was supposed to produce. The sudden decision of Central 46 to hypocritically execute the mod souls for "ethical reasons" cause the damaged alpha series to break yet further. Killing her immediate superior upon hearing the news, she fled from the battleground she had been stationed on in the living world. Switching from corpse to corpse to keep her hunters off her trail, Ion eventually managed to outlast the wrath of Spearhead's closure. Of course, once survival was fairly well assured, she was left with time to think about her purpose. Her previous objectives remained important, but without a superior to report to, or a Soul Society to request further data from, she found herself terrified at her sudden independence. In response, she clung to her original code: destroy hollows. Since she now lacked the support structure to know where to go to do such a thing, she decided she needed to make it such that no matter where hollows appeared, they would die. Thus, her goal was simple: reduce Earth to a ball of radioactive glass. Any hollow that came there would die, and even those who could resist would be starved out by the lack of humans. It was, to her mind, the perfect solution. Sadly for the few who have since attempted to correct the obvious issues with her reasoning, it seems to have become so stuck in her programing that any attempt to change it is perceived as an attempt to alter core functionality...which neccesitates a lethal response. Ion's progress isn't terribly fast; her powers are ill suited to creating long-standing radiation zones. Instead, she improves her personal abilities as best she can. If she can refine her powers, perhaps a solution will appear. Failing that, she might eventaully co-opt the terrible arsenals of humanity, which will neccesitate significant personal strength. In any event, Ion is a ticking time bomb just waiting to cause disaster.

Description: Ion's twisted reiatsu squirms constantly, veritably begging to be released on the world to make it a bit more like her. Twisted Lens is a very straightforward attack ability: Ion projects beams (up to a foot wide) of irradiated reiatsu at her foes. The damage is done through disruption of tissues, but the subtler effects are perhaps the more horrific. At first, those struck by the Lense's energies feel uncomfortably warm, followed by a variety of unpleasent effects.
1 Post Cycle Later: Major nausea, feelings of intense dizziness and lowered energy.
2 Post Cycles Later: Extreme nasea, feelings of intense dizziness, severely lowered energy and trivial (if unnerving) bleeding from soft tissue.
3 Post Cycles Later: Overwhelming nausea, overwhelming dizziness, severe lethargy and moderate internal damage.
After this point, the effects fade until and unless another dose is recieved. The beams move at half bala speed at Tier III and bala speed at Tier II.

Description: To call Ion stable would be both generous and inaccurate. Any vessel she occupies only barely manages to safety contain her toxic energy. When damage, there are consequences. This ability can only be activated when Ion is injured (although she CAN injure herself by activating it, which also works). Her body periodically emits surges of irradiated reiryoku, striking those without the good sense to get away. Normally, these are tier III and move at half bala speed, and can be activated when only lightly damaged. If heavily injured, Ion can purposefully vent the energy in an attempt to stop herself from literally melting, striking all angles equally at cero speed for tier IV damage.

Description: Ion's core produces energy far in abundance of what she needs. Granted, only so much can be projected in combat, but she's her own reactor when it comes to power other things. With this ability, her vessel generates a series of cord-like tendrils of surprising durability that can interface with anything that requires power to operate. Doing so provides enough energy to permit operation as long as Ion remains plugged in. More interestingly, intermingling her own power allows mundane objects to interact with the spiritual and be used as weapons, armor and the like. She can control such devices even without access to the controls (or if there ARE no controls as far as user interface is concerned).
