So yeah, was really late to the event thread because of title, despite logging in almost every day for the past week and wondering exactly where the hell the event thread was. Hidane didn't get his either, so I know I'm not alone.

Seconded. I'm not 100% sure I didn't get my notification as Shinji, but I know I didn't as Dane and had to do some searching to find my thread.
Might explain the lack of event posts if the same happened to most of if not everybody else.
