"WHAT A BUNCH OF PATHETIC WEAKLINGS!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!"
Driscoll laughed maniacally, shaking the shinigami whose head was clenched in one of his massive hands. The woman spasmed one final time and went limp, her reiatsu fading away along with her life. Driscoll felt a familiar surge of power as his schrift amplified his already impressive physique, one of the many perks of his title: The Overkill. He tossed the body off to the side, among the others; a small group of shinigami who had been unlucky enough to be patrolling near the location he had emerged. They had hardly put up any fight at all. Perhaps the powers of the shinigami really were nothing but bluster. It didn't really matter to him. Weak, strong, healthy, sick, all life fed him equally. What did the grandmaster know anyway? Driscoll's schrift was the strongest, an infinite well of power that just needed time to build. After all this was done he would be the one with his majesty's favor: His strongest servant.
Behind him, his band of soldat waited patiently. They had not interfered in the struggle as he had commanded; the schrift would not grant him power based on the victories of others after all. The sternritter's massive spear faded away from his hand, and he turned to face his waiting subordinates.
"HIS MAJESTY'S ORDERS ARE SIMPLE: PURGE AS MANY OF THESE LESSER BEINGS AS YOU ARE ABLE!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY TO KILL!!"
The soldat raised their weapons into the air, adding their battle cries to the booming sound of his laughter. This world would burn with their coming.
The deafening cheers died down as the soldat were smothered by the force of a massive reiatsu source. The wind whipped up around the quincy, billowing their clothing and blowing of their hats and capes. Several of them cried out in alarm, readying their weapons to face the intruder, but it was too late, and when the wind gusted again the three soldat closest to Driscoll fell to their knees, gurgling as blood blossomed from their necks, their throats slashed by invisible blades.
Kensei walked calmly forward, his haori flapping softly. He was too late, and that only increased his fury at the mangled bodies of shinigami littered around the intruder's feet. He clenched Tachikaze's grip in his fist, veins bulging down his uncovered arms.
"I asked who the hell you are you piece of trash."
His question was met only with the continued booming laughter of massive man leading the white garbed soldiers.
"WHAT LUCK!!! AHAHAHAHA!!! FIRST A BUNCH OF SMALL FRY TO POWER ME UP, AND NOW AT SHINIGAMI CAPTAIN!!! THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE RIGHT BOY!?!"
A vein bulged in Kensei's forehead, and he slashed Tachikaze in the direction of Driscoll, sending the same blade of wind that had taken out his subordinates shooting towards the sternritter's throat. The wind exploded as it made contact with the quincy's head, and he staggered, his laughter cut off by the attack.
"I'm going to ask one more time: Who the hell are you?"
"Oi, oi, oi."
As the smoke cleared away, the undamaged face of the sternritter emerged, the attack had only succeeded in removing the smile from his face.
"Seems you captain are a cut above these other weaklings. But make no mistake, you're still nothing compared to one of his majesty's sternritter. My name is Driscoll Berci, and I'm here to purge you shinigami."
"I've got to hand it to you Kensei Muguruma, that was one hell of an entertaining fight."
Driscoll patted himself off roughly, knocking the dust off his jacket. His clothing was now torn in several places, where blades of wind and torn through in attempts to sever the flesh beneath. His body, on the other hand, was almost entirely unscathed. A few bruises and scrapes covered his arms, but it seemed Haschwalth had been correct that the shinigami wouldn't be prepared to death with their perfected Blut.
"Well... one down I supposed, that leaves another twelve at your level or strength. HAH!!! They hardly needed to send three of us. I would've been plenty."
Twenty or so yards away, Kensei's hand twitched, his body propped up against a tree, bloodied and broken. He coughed, and his non-swollen eye opened to peer at the sternritter. Even close to death the captains fighting spirit was obvious.
"Still alive huh? AHAHAHAHAHA!!! THAT'S THE SPIRIT!!!"
The Overkill's massive spear reformed in his hand, and he began to step towards to beaten captain.
"Sorry, but even my respect for a warrior like you doesn't mean I'll show mercy. His majesty's orders are absolute. But I'll do my best to remember your name."

The scene of battle was dispiriting. The average shinigami was no match to the average quincy soldier. Ichika slashed left and right, reducing the numbers of the less powerful quincy where she could, before she came across something she did not expect.
Her former captain, Kensei Muguruma, against a tree with a Quincy closing in on him. If he was so strong that he could defeat her captain, Ichika would definitely not be his opponent. However, her loyalty to a captain of the Gotei Thirteen did not allow her to run away like she did when she saw the other stronger quincy.
Building up her spiritual power inwardly, she moved towards the strongest man on the battlefield while locking on to any surviving quincy nearby with her spiritual sensing.
She would not burst out onto the scene in some grand entry. No, against someone so strong, she would not even stand in front of her former captain to block. However, this did not mean she would not do anything.
Several miniature storms comprised entirely of slashes physical and spiritual suddenly burst out on the battlefield, most of which aimed at the Quincy warrior and the spear in his hand to strike from every angle at maximum intensity. The rest were sent towards however many surviving quincy in her range that she could detect. The last thing she needed was being struck by a stray survivor while fighting someone so strong.
Not that she intended to. She was planning to get out with her Captain and take him to the Fourth Division... if they were still operating.
Knowing she can not escape detection anymore, Ichika immediately started running around the strong quincy in a large circle. As she passed by one, she scooped up a dead quincy's body that was beheaded, holding it up from his clothes at the back, allowing it to slump over her head with her peeking out below his armpit for eyesight. With her teenage figure, she was able to use an adult as a meat shield. While it was clear that a spear from before would easily pierce through this meat shield, it served a second purpose. Pressing her free hand's finger against his back, she immediately began to write, using the meat shield to hide her action.
No time for conversation or even some sort of entry line. It was all action. To pull this off, she had to come in quickly and leave just as fast.
Note: She only has one sword on display. The second sword of her Zanpakuto is hidden in her clothes. Items worn: Name: 死覇装・改 (Shihakushō Kai) Modified Garment of Dead Souls Class: Item Creation Tier: VII Type: Item Range: N/A Description: A modified Shihakushō made by the Captain of the 12th division. Appears just like any other uniform, but the material it’s made of is different. It’s durable enough to withstand the might of Shunkō being released by the wearer without tearing. It is also capable of repairing itself in combat over one post as long as it has not taken damage for three posts. This specific one has the Seventh Division’s insignia inscribed on the inside where it’s traditionally placed. As it was made to order for someone’s personal use, it has a single special ability.
Name: 幻光 (Genkō) [Illusory Light] Class: Item Tier: III Type: Passive Range: Self Description: When a limb moves, the air is pushed around it. When the material of this cloth moves, light is pushed around it instead. The result is that when the wearer moves, the exact movement is distorted, becoming blurry and making it impossible to accurately read one’s physical movements through visual means.
Name: Dangai Particle Infection Class: Item Creation Tier: N/A Type: Passive Range: N/A Description: After fighting a strange creature now referred to as a 'Dangai Spirit', slicing it too finely with her Dimension Slash had caused the particles to become small enough to infect her. Aggravated and shaped by constant training with her pseudo Shunko, the infection has now manifested as a collection of overlapping, purple, diamond-shaped markings that disperse into fading vein-like extensions, located on her upper back. As a biological infection, it cannot be broken and provides no defense. Ominous, purple particles gather into the marking from the surroundings.
Once a thread, Ichika may utilize the power of the Dangai to temporarily capture the essence of a single non-passive technique for use for the remainder of the thread. Her proficiency with executing the technique itself is related to her Reiryoku Techniques mastery.
Techniques used:
Name: 次元斬 (jigenzan) [Dimension Slash] Class: Zanjutsu Tier: III-VII Type: Offensive Range: Short-Long Description: An evolution of the Spacial Rend technique. Locking onto a target person, a single motion of the blade gives birth to a multitude of reiatsu slashes from all angles striking that space. These slashes form at the max speed possible for their tier and have different forms, listed below, but are all essentially the same technique performed at varying scales and power. Dodging this attack requires stepping before the starting motion is executed and interrupting requires stopping the sword hand. Drawback: Requires Air Sword Style: Spacial Rend.
Name: 次元斬・絶 (jigenzan zetsu) [Absolute Dimension Slash] Tier: VII Description: Dimension Slash at it's greatest output. The user locks onto as many targets within 80 meters as possible then unleashes several 3x3x3 meter Dimension Slashes at their vital points instead of covering a large area.
Name: 言霊翻訳 Kotodama Honyaku Class: Reiryoku Technique Type: Supplementary Range: Self Tier: I Description: Kotodama refers to the power of language. This is prevalent in a Shinigami's powers: The name of the Kidō holds power, and so do their incantations. A Zanpakutō's name and technique names also hold power. Honyaku means "translation", to change from one language to another. However, this ability translates the language from "vocal speaking" to "physical movement" (usually of the lips). The words themselves are the same, but they are not conveyed through the usual vocal medium, but physical motions. This is accomplished by shaping one's spiritual energy into words itself. By pulsing spiritual energy to one's lips, finger or even the foot or toes, the motion of that particular part can "move" the spiritual energy gathered to it, which is then shaped into the words required for anything which would otherwise involve speaking (Kidō incantations, names, release phrases, etc). The user can even switch mediums of "speaking" mid-incantation, but only one medium can be active at any time (e.g no moving the lips and writing at the same time). When this technique is active, words "spoken" this way will take an etheral, visible form in the color of the user's spiritual pressure. Drawback: This does not decrease the time taken to recite incantations. In some cases (such as using the foot), this may actually increase the time taken to "speak".
Preparing: A Kido Technique (PM me if I have to reveal which one I'm using)
The scene was unsettling, to say the least. Along the streets of the Seireitei itself, Shinigami were fighting the intruders. Sure, they were putting up a fight; their efforts were not to be ignored. But it was a clearly losing fight, the average Shinigami being no match for the average Quincy invader individually, and thus when forces clashes, the Shinigami did not go without a fight, but it was as a toddler kicking out against a tsunami crashing against the shores on a family vacation. For every Quincy the Seireitei’s garrison managed to take down, each took down five or more Shinigami in turn, and that was being generous. It was an unsettling scene, both in terms of the gore and chaos of it all and how overwhelmingly underprepared the Gotei was to handle this situation. And it was not so long ago that he’d been boasting the Gotei’s competence to Kuchiki in a meeting with the old man.
However, there was one thing on the Gotei’s side; the Shinigami of the Gobantai were no average Shinigami. In his white Haori, his division’s insignia emblazoned on the back, Hirako Shinji strode across rooftops into the battlefield, the bulk of his division, the Gotei’s vanguard, behind him. Hinamori tailed close behind him, other seated officers close behind her and the bulk of his forces behind them. They washed over the battlefield like a tidal wave of their own, though not as strong a crash as he would’ve liked. Shinji and Hinamori could deal with the footsoldiers well enough on their own, but the rest of his division only slowed the tide of death; but it was better than nothing, as the Captain and his direct subordinate moved from skirmish to skirmish, putting down the invading forces as best they could.
Slowly, but surely, they seemed to be turning the tide of combat in the area, though he could say nothing of potential enemy reinforcements, either from other areas of the Seireitei or from wherever they had been hidden to strike from. The attack had come suddenly, all at once, and all over the Seireitei. Complete and utter chaos. He and his division had been dispatched to what had been reported as a particularly troublesome spot, his pals Kensei and Rose assigned to nearby areas. However, it seemed Kensei had taken it upon himself to intervene here when things got a bit out of hand. Shinji had arrived a little later than he would’ve liked, organizing his division to try to make as great a strike as he could.
However, things changed quickly when suddenly Kensei’s Reiatsu suddenly all but disappeared. Shock crossed the Visored Captain’s face as he suddenly came to a halt, having freshly slain an enemy, and turned towards where Kensei had been fighting a particularly strong enemy. Hinamori stopped close behind him. The Captain turned and looked around; things were going badly. Enemy soldiers were still pouring in, and slowly overtaking their own allies, comrades, and subordinates.
“Hinamori,” he said solemly, in a more serious tone than he would usually adopt, “I want you to get Kensei and retreat. Find any survivors you can and help them retreat to the Fourth Division to the best of your ability; any who are able should help you in this, and if they complain that I’m not their Captain, tell them to suck it up and do it anyway.” He gripped his Zanpakuto tightly, focusing on the strongest enemy in the area. “This fight’s gonna be a bit out of your league, I'd bet.” Without another word, his Shunpo would carry him through the air, Hinamori’s close behind him.
Hirako had taken note of the other notable Shinigami that had taken to attacking the Quincy before Kensei; however, Shinji’s own approach was a bit… different. His Shunpo placed him standing firmly on the ground half way between the Quincy and his comrade, his toothy grin on his face again.
“Well, well, look at you, causin’ all this trouble?” He said, every ounce of his posture and tone oozing confidence. The Quincy was strong, for sure, but there was no salvation in fear. “And who d’ya think you are, gathering up all your little buddies here… coming into our home, and makin’ a mess of the place?” Hinamori appeared behind him, next to Kensei. Without a word she put one of his arms over her shoulder, and only a moment later the two would disappear. “I hope you weren’t lookin’ forward to killing my friend… well, either way, he’s not yer opponent anymore.” His smile turned to a dour frown as black Reiryoku formed over his face, the Egyptian visage of his mask forming and fading to a clear white over his face.
"WATAAAAHHH!" Her fist slammed into the stomach of someone clad in white, with a hidden face, sending the being into another of his comrades, and crashing into a wall. They had come out of nowhere, literally. They appeared all over Soul Society, these 'soldat', apparently they had some vendetta against the Shinigami. Though she had to admit, they were pretty strong for beings who had hid away for centuries. She didn't know their origins, their story, or whatever bullshit excuse they had for this attack, all she knew was that the Soul Society had to be protected, and she was stepping up to the plate. If they wanted a war, they were about to get one. Glancing over her shoulder, she picked up multiple reiatsu signatures that were of Captain level, though one was fading quickly. Turning her attention back to the groaning Soldat who was attempting to stand, she walked over, and stomped down on his head with the heel of her foot, quickly ending future attempts at getting back up. Stepping in the direction of the larger signatures she had sensed earlier, she quickly closed the gap between the two.
Arriving just in time to see Hinamori carrying one of the Captain's, Kensei, away from combat. Injured and no longer able to fight, but Shinji Hirako, a Captain she had hoped to one day meet, had appeared and even donned his Hollow mask. Things were getting damn serious. Stepping up beside him, she grinned, flicked her nose with her thumb, and began to bounce on her feet. "You have my fists, Hirako-taicho!" She would make sure this Quincy wouldn't get back up.
Driscoll watched, one eye raised, his face turning as he traced the movement of a young girl. A flash of energy around him blinding him as a barrage of attack come from all sides, encompassing him in mere moments. Holding up the spear in a defensive fashion he feels his hold on its form fade slightly, the energy assaulting him stinging his skin but strong enough to cut through the form of his weapon, the energy dissipating. He cared little about age or size, the thrill of battle being the only driving factor in his behavior. "Hello little mouse, no need to hide. I am sure that I can make you-," Rearing one arm back he cocks his throwing arm spear reforming with the smallest trickle of blood rolling into his eyebrow, releasing his spear with the full force of an artillery cannon. A trail of dirt and dust on the ground splits at the spear flies through the air, colliding with the body mid torso.
A short flare of energy behind him makes him turn, the voice of another Shinigami catching his ear. He did not even look to see the effects of his spears impact, the explosion of kinetic energy being enough for him to feel that the girl was little more than mush. A male, calculating eyes with a wide snake like grin watches him. "Another captain eh? Well its too bad you did not show up for your buddy here sooner. It may have been more fun if you were both here at the same time. Fighting you one at a time is a lot like beating up children, fun but hardly a challenge." Then a stooping figure did something that was not allowed. Not with Driscoll at least. A young girl was picking up his prey, stealing his kill. Reforming the spear in hand once more he lobs it full force at Kensai's body,"Its RUDE TO STEAL SOMEONES KILL!"
Then another, a younger female appearing on the feild, bouncing about with her hands up as if she were going to be boxing. Noding his head at the new Shinigami he continues. "I am going to kill her and you can watch. After that I am going to put a hole in your chest."

No need to hide?
There were many reasons to hide. For one, the guy is multiple times stronger than her. Even though a Captain had come, he had already downed one of them, how was Ichika supposed to beat him? That said, the arrival of the Fifth Division Lieutenant taking away Captain Muguruma voided the idea of retreating with the captain, now that someone else was doing what she had intended to do.
Now she had to deal with this oncoming spear. That was easy, since she had already prepared for a counter attack. Throwing the body, she let the spear pierce it through while she got out of the way so it would not skewer them both. At the same time she threw the corpse, she pointed her index and middle finger towards the Quincy.
Immediately, six beams of yellow light materialised from nothing and shot for the Quincy's waist. A staple of high-level (or slightly under high level) combat, numbered 61 on a long list of spells. If it worked, it would render him immobile, even if just for a short moment. If it didn't, he would still have to expend the strength and time to deal with it.
Without speaking a word, she continued to keep a fair distance from the Quincy as she ran through a large circular path around him. Her aim was to reach the Ninth Division Captain and the Fifth Division Lieutenant and aid their escape so that she could have reason to get running.

So the plan wasn’t going to go along as smoothly as he’d hoped. A sigh escaped the Captain’s lips as he watched the Quincy’s overconfident retorts and responses to the actions of he and his comrades; he was boastful, as if confidence was his middle name, which meant he was either a fool… or had the power to back it up. The strength of his attacks and Reiatsu suggested the latter, which was going to make things difficult. It seemed he was considerably more powerful than himself, his lieutenant, or the other Shinigami buzzing around trying to create diversions for chances for escape. However, escape wasn’t going to be an option; even if they did survive and escape, this guy would only pursue them or find others to slaughter. No, escape wasn’t an option; they had to stop this guy here or die trying. He could only hope his circumstantial allies would agree with that mindset.
“Bakudo #81: Danku.” He held his left hand out, two fingers raised together, as a large, rectangular shield appeared to his left, the Quincy’s spear crashing into and shattering it, though taking the spear’s form with it. “It’s pretty shitty to go after the injured and the support. Were you raised in a barn or somethin’?” The younger Shinigami buzzing around had seemingly dodged the Quincy’s fairly basic attack; perhaps they were in luck. The Quincy was large and powerful, but seemed a bit thick in the head; outsmarting him seemed the best option. Even they could take him out if they could do that.
He wondered for a moment just where these assholes had been hiding to gather this much strength? There were reports of several other enemies of similar strength all throughout the Seireitei.
A newcomer came onto the scene, snapping Shinji out of his moment of thought as Hinamori would disappear with his Shunpo with Kensei, only momentarily thrown off by the Quincy’s incoming attack. Now that they were clear, the three remaining could go all out… should the one that had already attacked the Quincy stick around. But Shinji would not hesitate to use the newcomer’s appearance as a distraction. Shunpo would carry him closer to the Quincy, putting less than a meter between them, Shinji in the air behind the Quincy; despite the man’s large size, he seemed rather found of throwing his spear as a method to attack, which made him wonder how the man would fair in close quarters.
Hand raised and outstretched, a Cero charged quickly and fired, straight for the Quincy’s head; he wasn’t even sure that this would do so much as leave a scratch, but he had little else to work with and needed to see what extents he had to go to in order to fight this guy. “The help is appreciated,” he responded to the third Shinigami to arrive on the scene, now that he had the time and freedom to do so, depending on the Quincy’s reaction.
