Blod nodded as her electricity kido made contact; the potency of her release came from its versatility- not its strength. She was suppressing herself, her mind coiled around like a spring. She had no idea how he would respond individually, only experience and empathy on her side. A cold shiver ran down her spine as she saw Toshiro shunpo towards her; she wasn't sure if it was anticipation or the feel of his reiatsu. She saw him unleash a kenatsu; not good. She knew that those sword blows could be rather devastating, and that she had to avoid it at all costs.
She shunpo'd out of the way, only to find her vision obscured by the hazardous conditions. She pulled her orbs towards her- they were frozen, but that hardly stopped them functioning; they shot up towards her, a little more jerkily than she might have been used to due to the extra weight. As she exited her step, she was surprised to see Toshiro. She turned to face him, throwing her arms up barely as his blade descended straight towards her. She managed to avoid getting her face cut, but his sword traced a cut straight down her torso even as she launched her orbs at him; extra potent due to the spiky icicles hanging from them.
Luckily she had renewed her kido, however blood still oozed from the now open wound running down her chest. Her arms had taken much of the impact too, and had both been sliced. The aura around her flickered and spluttered out, having gone a bright blue at the point of impact but still not being strong enough to completely block his sword. Her pupils shrank with the pain but she maintained her composure. She had him in close quarters!
"Bakudo 1, Sai! Bakudo 9, Geki! Hado 4, Byakurai! Bakudo 4, Hainawa!" The kido would take effect, though she knew Toshiro would be able to break out of them easily- he would not be able to resist the split second of immobility- nor would he be able to fight the initial pulling of his arms behind his back. The lightning- for she dual cast two instances of Byakurai from two separate orbs at once- would then hit him, before the final hado would spring fourth from the final in an attempt to ensnare his probably prone body. Blod's body hurt a great deal, however she powered through; determined to use this opportunity.
"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. Walls of iron sand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. With light, divide this into six! Standing upright, silent to the end!" she spoke the incantations swiftly, as soon as she had finished casting the other spells; so that as she spoke, her previous four kido went off. There would be absolute chaos as the visibility was so poor, such a large number of spells being cast at once- she had hoped to overwhelm Toshiro. "Gochutekkan! Rikujokoro!" she said, and six beams of light would slam into Toshiro's midsection, even as enormous pillars pinned him down, the binding twofold and unescapable unless he found some miraculous way of avoiding it. Blod panted but her work was not done yet. She focused her reiatsu, and unleashed a torrent of energy, as she recast one of the final binding kido, making it; assuming it had landed- explode with enormous force.

Toshiro had landed a blow on the young female shinigami, or so it seemed, a cut adorning most of her chest and arms. Yet it was still not enough to take her down, something inside of her either refused to give up, or she was stronger then she would ever really let on. Toshiro was unable to act quickly enough to do anything; coming in close distance to Blod had turned out to be a rather large negative.
She was a kidoshu member, excelling in the use of kido and the strategy and style needed to successfully pull them off. Despite how much he would try the onslaught of Kido that Blod would rattle off, almost seeming endless in length, was too much. At such a distance Toshiro’s reaction time was rather short and even given his speed he couldn’t react to such an onslaught.
Suddenly his arms were brought back behind himself a red light incasing him. The bakudo themselves were low level and if it wasn’t for the sheer number of everything would have been easy to break. Lightning hitting him from multiple locations, Toshiro assumed to be its intended target as the pulse resonated throughout his body, it was low level and painful, as any technique would be, but by no means unbearable. Finally finishing it all with a another bakudo it seemed entrapping his arms further, his zanpakuto grasped in his hands still locked behind his back.
It was hard to concentrate, everything around him going on it made things feel a bit hopeless, and at the same time the fogginess that had been in his mind still remained only making matters worse, it was hard to plan and strategize when you couldn’t even think straight in your own thoughts. It had been quite some time since someone of this strength had been against Toshiro, it was like a double-edged sword, it was great to see shinigami achieving ranks of the highest order, yet it wasn’t the best to be finding this out in the situation in which he currently was in.
The rods of light materialized around him, slamming into his midsection as the lower bakudo had just begun to loosen up finally. If anything this shinigami was planned, organized, and intelligent. She knew had to order her attacks and approaches in such a manner that it was almost impossible to protect one’s self from them. This was certainly not the idle situation for Toshiro. There was barely time to think five pillars following the words of Blod fell from the sky, slamming into Toshiro driving him down to the ground.
The pain at this point was extreme; the sheer blunt force damage was enough to make anyone question continuing. If it wasn’t for the extensive battles and training Toshiro had put in over the short time he had been captain.
“Bakudo, number thirty-nine.” Toshiro was able to utter, forming a shield of condensed reiatsu over his mid-section before the explosion deafened the area. It wasn’t enough to shield him from the entire impact of the blast, but it was better than nothing.
Toshiro struggled he still remained pinned beneath one of the bakudo, unable for the moment to do much to prevent it. His face to the ground, pinned, he had to rely on his reiatsu sensing for now. At least until he could break free from this bakudo. Though it shouldn’t take him long most likely, despite the scratches and cuts that adorned his body from the multiple impacts he had just taken. Blood ran from his body onto the ground, staining it and mixing with the dirt.
It wasn’t the most ideal situation, but not the worst he had been in ever. There was always a plan for everything, it just matter if you were able to pull off the plan in question.

Blod grunted with satisfaction. She was hurting, and there was a not unnoticable blood coming from her chest, but she would survive, absolutely no doubt. It was a frustrating source of pain but as long as she didn't exert herself too much she needn't worry about risking bleeding out or anything, though this might put a cramp on her future ability to fight. She needed to end this quickly. She was impressed that he had managed to cast a kido under such tight restrictions, though the circular 2D arc shield would find it hard to shield from the entire blast as it was focused about his midsection. A weaker opponent than Captain Histsugaya would find themselves completely bifurcated by such an impact. He was still held down by the quintet of iron pillars, however, and so this was her chance. Blod withdrew her orbs, exiting her shikai release, and flash stepping to Toshiro's exact location.
What she was about to do was doubtless completely brutal, and virtually barbaric but she forgave herself safe in the knowledge that she had Ryodo she could use to heal the captain. With him still restrained, she wasted absolutely no time in plunging her sword, headed straight into his sword arm- he would be unable to dodge at all, given the nature of his bindings, and even the captain's enkosen would be incredibly hard pushed to defend against such a well-aimed and hard-intentioned strike.
Following this, she would withdraw her sword, and quickly attempt to snatch Hyourinmaru from Toshiro's hopefully disabled hand, though the bindings would be wearing off any moment now. Finally, she launched an Okasen at him, speaking only the name and number of the kido, before flash stepping out of the way of what would quite obviously be a captain in intense pain.
She felt an incredible surge of guilt, and wanted nothing more than to heal him, but until the moment he surrendered she would continue with her brutality, though she'd realized to her own dismay that she'd virtually run out of Kido by now, and would have to re-cycle them if she wanted to continue fighting. She also wasn't entirely sure that she would be able to re-release her shikai if she sustained an enormous amount more damage.

The kidou specialist did not disappoint and only made Toshiro realize how small his prowess in the art form really was. He lay there bound by the kidou in which Blod had cast, immobilized and although he struggled he knew that the high level of the technique it would mean he would have to exert much more of his energy and reiatsu than he had anticipated. The captain took a breath, blood soaking the ground from his various injuries, as of now none of them had been life threatening however, the accumulation of them all certain had taken its toll.
Toshiro could feel as Blod’s reiatsu signature weakened, dropping down to a more stable level, perhaps she had found this was enough? It was clear she had most likely exited her shikai state for whatever reason, though to declare this battle a victory didn’t seem plausible for although her signature had decreased in power it certainly was still on the move and within moments, Toshiro could feel it right above him, and although he could do nothing he braced himself as Blod’s Zanpakuto pierced down into the flesh of Toshiro’s arm, pinning it to the ground. The pain was enormous and immediately caused Toshiro to cry out in a loud wail if not only by reflex and habit.
Hyourinmaru was taken from the captain at this point, there was little he could do, either outside of surging his reiatsu more. The explosive power of it engulfing the area, causing the surroundings to become extremely cold. This was the point at which the bindings on Toshiro had let loose allowing a weakened and disabled Toshiro to move, quickly he had to act as he felt the oncoming of a Okasen coming at him, narrowly avoiding it as the fires singed the ends of his robe. The captain would reappear above in the sky, roughly ten meters from Blod, his breathing heavy and the blood dripping from his various wounds and predominately his arm that had been punctured.
“I guess….the kidoshu are a bit more skilled then most would really think…” Toshiro said in between breaths.
“You have rather good control over your skills I have to admit, you even bested me just now…taking away my zanpakuto at that, the kidoshou were right to want to test your powers that much is for sure.” Toshiro said trying to appear as calm as an injured man could.

Blod frowned, both Zanpakutos in hand. His yell of pain had made her wince; it wasn't pleasant to have to turn her blade upon fellow Shinigami. He was in a much worse state than she, though she was still bleeding, and didn't much fancy continuing to fight. She nodded as he stated with apparent surprise at her skill at combat. She ran the back of a blood spattered hand through her hair in order to remove it from her face, getting gruesome red liquid in it. She sniffed, regarding him with some suspicion, unsure of what to say next but she was saved the trouble, as Hitsugaya spoke once more.
"To fight a captain of the Gotei 13..." she said, trailing off. "It was every bit as challenging as I had imagined." she told him with a faint smile playing about her lips. Another arc of pain shot through her chest and she suppressed the desire to shudder. The sooner they could get cleaned up and have a nice cup of hot chocolate. It didn't take a genius to work out that the sudden chill in the air was emanating from Toshiro; she had simply not noticed it up until this point. She gently let her own reiatsu flow around her though it did not flare as his. The warm, summer scent of flowers was an effective panacea of all kinds of cold, though perhaps not quite as homey and effective as hot chocolate.
"Will you yield, so that I might heal our injuries?" she asked, her face once more stony, and her muscles tensed. If he said no, she had to be ready to fight, though she hoped with every fibre of her burning muscles that he didn't. She was reaching the end of her tether. Battling the captain's reiatsu alone had been a challenge- he was stronger than her for certain. She had simply been more crafty- employed a wider range of tricks and traps and had opted to bring the full might of her arsenal down upon him. Somehow Blodeuwen was almost certain that Hitsugaya had not done the same.

Toshiro’s breaths were staggered and much less composed than normal, he had taken a severe and brutal attack from the previous assault. He was left without his weapon and without a means of attack. Blood dripped down from his arm, splashing to the ground in droplets from his final injuries against Blod. She was a well versed opponent, and her strength lied in the kido she possessed, however if there was a way to suppress them, then how well would she have faired? Her strength could ultimately be her greatest weakness, but suppressing her kido would not be a simple task, nor one Toshiro was able to even perform at this time.
“To fight a member of the Kidoshu was an equal challenge, more so than I think I could have anticipated. You did your squad very well today, proving your strength.” Toshiro said calmly, his breathing slowing, and becoming more regular.
“For today. I do believe I will have to yield to you. You have my weapon, you’ve injured me sufficiently, it seems today you are the victor.”
It was true that Toshiro had not used his full strength, but even that being said he was not going light on Blod either, her barrage of kido was far too great though for him to overcome, which was his ultimate defeat. He had become severely bound with no way of getting out of the multitude of layers.
Toshiro paused again thinking about the entire battle, replaying it, looking for strategies and missed opportunities, thinking as much as he could before speaking again, “If you don’t mind I would like my zanpakuto back though.” He spoke as he outstretched his hand towards Blod.

Blod bowed at his words most complimentary. This here was a genius tactician of the Gotei 13 and the youngest captain in their history. For her to have proved her strength to this small white-haired youth was more important to her than she could say, and her cheeks flushed as he informed her of her status as the victor in their engagement. She rushed forward and pressed Hyorinmaru back into his hands, before hastily recalling the healing kido she knew. It would be impolite to heal herself before healing him and thus he was shortly surrounded in a green glow of energy.
"Ryodo: Keikatsu." she said, and Hitsugaya would surely find a wave of refreshing pain relief wash over him, even as his wounds found themselves healed. "I wasn't entirely certain what would happen had I tried to take your zanpakuto- it's somewhat heavier than mine, I wasn't especially expecting it." she told him respectfully, a smile pulling at her lips as she brushed a strand of long golden hair from her face. The sky above them no longer seemed to be threatening rain as it did when Hitsugaya released his shikai, and was instead a pale blue colour that was reflected in Blod's eyes, making them glister and glimmer.

Toshiro felt as the healing wave of the kido flushed over him, slowly but surely healing his wounds as he stood there. They had finished their spar and it was clear that Blod had been victorious as he had said.
Toshiro smirked slightly as Blod spoke again, now mention the weight of his zanpakuto. “Yes. In fact every zanpakuto will feel much heavier in comparison to your own. To yourself your own will always feel as though it is weightless due to the atonement of you and your spirit. Your blade is a part of you and trust me if this was not a spar I would be fighting you tooth and nail till I died to get that blade back. It is a part of me as yours is a part of you, you should never let it leave your side especially if the intentions of the one you are fighting are unknown.” Toshiro said calmly as he watched himself healing rather quickly. It was easier to move now without as many aches and pains, he stretched slightly as the dexterity in his hand started to return to him.
“I hope to see you again on the battlefield in the future. Hopefully though it is together instead of against one another. Though I suppose I should learn to deal with some of the vast kido I’ve seemed to neglect in my own training that you’ve embraced so strongly.”

Blod wasn't sure but she thought she could see a faint sign of relief on his face- perhaps it was just his smile, though he must have been in some pain just as she was. She nodded at his explanation- it made sense, she considered to herself, finishing up with the deep wound on his arm, and starting to heal herself, sighing happily to herself as her wounds anaesthetised and began to knit themselves together. Blod didn't know any other healing kido, although she was extremely proficient at applying this one that she did know. She made it a point of interest to expand her horizons in that department.
"I'm pretty sure we were taught about the weightlessness of our own zanpakuto when we got our asauchi in the academy." she chided jovially. "But I hadn't considered how much another's zanpakuto would weigh." she said, honestly. She considered for a moment that Toshiro had entered the academy hundreds of years after she had graduated it and yet here he was, a captain in the Gotei 13 and she was just some kind of administrative peon in the Kido Corps. Not that the Kidoshu were any less prestigious an organization, but their relative ranks depressed her slightly. Perhaps eventually she would catch up- but at his accelerated rate of growth, he seemed like the type to always stay several steps ahead.
"I can't say I mirror the sentiment." Blod said, her face seriously. "I've heard some terrifying things about the vicinity of your battles, Captain Hitsugaya. I'd like to be as far away from that as possible." she said, with a little shrug at his mention of kido. "Kido can be incredibly powerful tools but their effectiveness depends entirely upon not only the strength of the spell but the knowledge of when to apply it. Even the most monstrous kido user can use the wrong kido at the wrong time and then they're in trouble. As a fighting style it's effective because I can fight on equal footing to bankai level opponents a lot of the time... Which as I'm sure you'll agree is nothing to sniff at." she said, proud suddenly to be representing her organization in such a way.
She looked around, her keikatsu having finished, and tugged at the sleeve of her robe.
"Well I suppose now we ought to depart. If I have your permission for leave, captain. I apologize if they make you write a report about our battle- they're going to do that to me." she sighed.

“Yes. I suppose it isn’t often you would pick up another’s zanpakuto, so it does make sense the practicality of that weight not being apparent to you.” Toshiro said calmly as Blod finished.
“Fair enough, but remember none of us want to be in the kind of battles I’ve been through you speak of. None of us want to fight constantly in these struggles. We do so because we must, we do so because it is what is needed of us, and especially the Captains of the Gotei 13, it is our job to ensure that order is kept amongst all other things.” Toshiro said again slightly icy as he usually was, thinking about the slight naivety of not wanting to be involved in battles and fights of such a high magnitude before speaking again.
“Very true. Every technique has its own set of flaws and weaknesses, sometimes though it’s just more difficult to point out some rather than others, but regardless there is always something that can be exploited. No offense or defense is perfect.”
Toshiro paused for a moment before speaking after Blod’s final sentiment, “Yes. Yes I suppose we should depart now, it seems what you’ve came to prove has been proved. Do not worry either about any paperwork, there’s always some, so one little report won’t be too much of a hassle. Today the battle was yours, however do not let that get to your head.”
Toshiro turned around and began to walk away at this point, reflecting on the spar that had taken place, and the potential of even some of the lesser known Shinigami in the Gotei 13, it seemed that they were more prepared for threats than he had original anticipated. It was a relief for sure if anything.
“Until we meet on the battlefield again.” Toshiro said as he raised his hand in the air with a wave, still facing the opposite direction of Blod as he walked.
