Hidden away in the darkness on the outskirts of the Menos Forest, a mighty figure crouched. Cloaked in shadows, him and his subordinate hunkered down in preparation, readying themselves for a test of skill. Captain Garro, clad in his haori, peeked around one of the many pillars of cold stone. Sitting back and facing his Vice Captain, Nel, his words were hushed and serious.
"Young one... today we test how stealthy you can be. We will be training your ability to hide yourself in the midst of the enemy... This will require speed, and control. I will show you now how to become... like the shadows... "
Kneeling and closing his eyes in concentration, Garro hummed lowly. His hand clenched in strain, his humming involuntarily turning to a grunt, which became louder and more intense. His eyes popped open, bloodshot, holding his breath. All before letting out a deep lung-full, unclenching his fists, as they rested on his hips. Puffing out his chest, he grinned and nodded to Nel.
"You see..? You can not sense me, yet I am still here... or am I... " With a flick of his robe, he somersaulted to the side and scrambled to hide himself by the stone pillar. Miraculously, Garro had completely disappeared without a trace, impossibly hiding himself.

Nel Tu, Vice Captain of the Hueco Mundo division of the Gotei 13, hunkered down with her Taicho, captain Garro Karra, in the forests beneath the endless white desert. They were hiding in the shadow of a tree though if Nel said that to Garro, he would likely respond with something like "we'e not hiding we're preparing to assault the enemy!". But to Nel...... They were hiding. It was just like some big ole' game of hide and seek.
"But Gawwo, how can you be like a thadow if your fayth ith white?" she asked, puzzled. She had no idea how she would "become a shadow". But then, her Taicho showed her. It was quick like magic, and suddenly, his reiatsu disappeared. "Taicho how can you do that???" she asked as Garro just grinned. But he didn't respond. The 'shinigami' seemed to flick his captain's Haori and he had all but disappeared. Suddenly, her captain had vanished in front of her and Nell was alone in enemy territory, her eyes wide and her lower lip wobbling. She ran haphazardly through the trees.
"GAWWOOOOOOO WHERE ARE YOUUUUUU!?" she cried loudly, in all likelihood attracting all of the nearby hollows to her as she grovelled in the sand below and thrashed her limbs sadly.
Crouching behind the same tree that they had been using for cover, Garro grinned smugly to himself as Nel was undoubtedly astonished by his deftness and mystery. What he hadn't anticipated was his Vice Captain now running willy-nilly in this lair of beasts, the opposite of what the entire purpose of this lesson was.
Darting his eyes around, he made sure the coast was clear before sprinting after her, his incredible Shunpo leaving a trail of dust behind him, arms powerfully karate chopping through the air. Before she knew it, her Captain had caught up to her, tackling her to the sand and dragging her behind the nearest tree, pushing a finger to her lips in a universal gesture of SHHHH. Holding his finger there, Garro peeked around the tree, scanning the forest.
Unexpected chain of events, but still salvageable. There were now movements in the shadows, shifting eyes and flickers of ill-intent everywhere. Crouching back behind the new tree with Nel, he whispered harshly to her. "Young one... it is time to test your ability... silent... undetectable, like me. Make your inner flame small... concentrate.. understand? Focus, as if your life depended on it." Peeking back around the tree at the searching group of beasts, their lives might actually depend on it.

Nel screamed as she was grabbed and pulled behind a tree, her arms and legs flailing wildly and cartoonishly. Drat! She had been got by a hollow. She may have been a masochist, but actually dying by being eaten by a hollow would not be very nice at all, nosiree. But then she opened her eyes and saw that it was only her captain. He "shushed" her (which Nel didn't really know what that meant anyway) but she wasn't able to cry out because of the finger on her lips. Tears welled up at the corners of her eyes. Garro was starting to scare her with all this talk of beasts and hiding. Were they actually... In real danger? If they were in trouble, could Garro beat them?
Of course he could! He was the Taicho of the Hueco Mundo division! Nel had to have faith in her Captain, he was her boss! And he was also the one who had saved her butt on many occasions. Just like this one! Nel nodded to him, and did as she was told. While she didn't actually realize it Nel could masterfully control her reiatsu. She just didn't have much reiryoku. So as far as Garro and all the other menos were concerned, at that moment Nel's reiatsu would blink pretty much straight out of existence.
Huddled behind the tree, he could feel the mounting dread of the hungering hollows slinking closer and closer towards them. Peering out around the tree again, he could see the beasts beginning to take shape, lurking dangerously close now, sniffing out their next meal.
The snap of a twig at this point would alert them, luckily nothing grew in this godforsaken wasteland but beasts and misery. As Nel focused on concealing herself, Garro dropped his hand from her mouth. As he scanned over her, he realized that her tiny aura had nearly smothered out. She was a natural, he expected nothing less from his Vice Captain. With a proud grin, he nodded silently to her.
Leaning in closely, he spoke in a serious and hushed tone. "Now young one... this is the final test. Shadows do not fear the darkness, so show no fear, and follow me into battle."
Drawing out his blade bone, he clutched it with one hand, and with the other he silently shushed to gesture to keep quiet, but get ready. With his reiatsu suppressed, and his steps silent, he scurried in closer, taking cover again behind a large stone tree. It was time for the hunters to become the hunted.

Nel was getting genuinely scared now, which was dangerous. She could act unpredictably, but she did her best to retain her cool. After all, it had been a direct order from her captain. Her little face had a determined look in it, as she focused her eyes on the space in front of her. She wished that they had instead been playing a game. But then again Garro and her weren't really a shinigami. So it was fine; they were playing a game! "Playing shinigami". Nel's cheeks puffed out as she concentrated on not breathing.
Keeping quiet, Nel scurred behind the tree behind Garro, scuttling like a crab. For but a moment there was silence. What was Garro going to do? Nel waited impatiently, still holding her breath with her cheeks puffed outwards. She wondered where their "third", "fourth", and "fifth" seats (Pesche, Dondochakka, and Bawabawa) were and how they would react. If they could do their "super-sentai styled introduction" surely no hollow they came across could ever hope to defeat them. The tension was getting unbearable by now and if Garro didn't do something to relieve it soon, Nel would have to do something comical in order to stop her puffed out cheeks from exploding.
Before Nel knew it, Garro had vanished into the shadows. His reiatsu was suppressed as best he could, and his small form was hidden away from sight. Only a whisper of a scurry or flick of sand spoke of his whereabouts.
Until finally, bellowing out from some place in the trees, the mighty Captain spoke out to the hollow that had grouped nearby. "Heed my words, beasts, for they will surely be the last to grace your senses... " After a scurry and a pause, the voice echoed out from a new location, "These are your last moments... so make them count..."
Suddenly, flying from above the horde, Garro's form plunged from the shadowy trees toward his enemies, Bone-pakutou held high. He prepared a heavy swing of his mighty weapon, one that would surely wreck the earth from its power, killing all of those evil beings in its wake. One fell strike to end this battle before it starts.
"GRAAAAAAH!!!!" With all of his might, Garro smashed down his bone, directly onto the largest of the Hollow, the impact of his weapon crashing down into the enemies skull, no creature could withstand this level of power.
Bonk.
...what is this?! Impossible! The club didn't even crack the beasts skull, worse yet it barely even flinched. Garro stood on the shoulders of this monster, bone still pressed to his crown, staring now at the large group of Hollows with all their attention on him. The hulking beast that Garro stood on and had thwacked now frantically began clawing and swinging his mitts up to try and nab the captain off of him, but to no avail, for Garro was swift as holy lightning. He kicked off of the monsters back, deftly backflipping and landing in the sand, sliding backward.
This battle may prove to be more challenging than Garro had first thought, but Garro was always up for a challenge.

Garro had disappeared but this time, Nel knew not to be frightened. She had to stop herself jumping up in tribulation as he appeared in the treetops. Captain Karra to the rescue! Her heart soared, the bravery and strength of the hollowgami reminding her of Ichigo as he had fought his way through Las Nochas. Luckily, Nel had good friends who could always look after her, even during the times when her brothers weren't around. Friends like Garro. She watched him fall majestically through the trees. She let out a yell, encouraging him as he dropped toward the hollow until...
Bonk?
Nel regarded him with totally flat features. Oh yeah. Garro was... A BIG IDIOT. She got so suckered into their game that suddenly it seemed that they were in real danger. Nel had to think fast... It was time for her to not just sit around, and to fight to help protect her Taicho. Her eyes went wide. One of the hollows was swiping its enormous tail at her captain, and it would surely crush him if it hit! She had no choice, she had to use her...
"NEL THUPER ACCALERATION!" she shouted, as a crackle of static and a flash of light from the eye holes of her mask launched her forward, grabbing Garro on the way past, and then tumbling with him in a messed up heap at the foot of a tree. She sat up and spat out sand like a fish spitting water, baking "bleh pleh pleh bweh" sounds as she did so.
Without even realizing the hulking tail slamming down towards him, Garro had been saved by his Vice Captain Nel. Back slamming into the rocky tree, away from the edge of the group of monsters beginning to frenzy, Garro popped to his feet in readiness. Hearing his squad-mate spitting sand, he knew she was okay, atleast for now. They had narrowly avoided that problem, but now were faced with a much bigger one. Atleast ten Hollows were now searching around for their prey, luckily they hadn't noticed them just yet.
Garro suddenly grabbed Nel by her collar, yanking her behind him as he dove behind the tree. The question was to run, or to fight. Or both? Garro was beginning to hatch a plan, perfect to go along with their stealth lesson for today. It wasn't over just because they had been caught out once.
Crouching down and whispering to Nel, Garro clutched his bone, ready for whatever might pop around the corner. "Alright child... let us continue our lesson, alright? They will be coming for us... hunting... but we will use that to our advantage..." Peeking around the tree quickly, Garro noticed that the Hollows might be picking up on their scent. They had to hurry. "It's like hide and seek... but before they can find you, we sneak-attack them, got it..?"

Nel had finally finished scraping sand off of her tongue. Ew gross sandy mouth! She would be finding bits of sand in her teeth for weeks now. Before she could offer up any of her customary complaints, Garro grabbed her by the collar and hurled her to safetey behind another tree. She didn't like the look he had got in his eyes. "Gawwo-sama..." she said concerned as he excitedly appeared to hatch a plan before them. The captain was always there to save her, but sometimes he was a little boneheaded and foolhardy. Nonetheless she nodded as he told her what the plan would be. More sneaking, it seemed.
"Nel hath a game for diss! Its called 'climb the trees!'" She said excitedly. In her effort to show Garro what she meant, she leapt onto the nearest stone trees. Her tiny body, even with arms outstretched, didn't even reach ten degrees around the tree's circumference. Yet somehow with a kind of "snow angel" motion, Nel was able to ascend the tree remarkably quickly. "Come on Taicho-sama, up here!" she whisper-shouted to him down on the ground. The hollows were closing in quickly on them now and if he didn't act quickly he would be dominated.
Ah, now we were talking! Just as expected from his second in command. Tactical advantage: High Ground.
Leaping up after her quickly, Garro scrambled up the quartz pillar, clawing his way past Nel and up to the nearest jutting edge that could pass as a "branch" on these stone trees. Flattening out, Garro army crawled out onto the edge and peered down to the forest floor below. Apparently they had made it just in time to safety, because down below, the swarm of Hollows were sniffing around and searching the spot that they had been hiding.
Checking behind him at the trailing Nel, Garro scurried back over to her, kneeling low and whispering to her. "Good work, young one... we are have deceived the beasts... I'd say you have passed your training for today."
Squating back and finally sitting criss-crossed, Garro sighed and peered down below. The fact that they had escaped for now aside, they were still trapped up here until they could think of what to do next. Bringing his tiny hand to his chin, Garro brushed his non-existent beard and pondered, "Now Nel, your next test... what would be the next plan of action in a situation like this.."

Garro raced past Nel, upsetting her and causing to climb even quicker to the top of the tree. She was first, he couldn't go past her, no fair! Once she reached the top, she dropped down on her stomach and crawled towards him, making a comical squeaking noise as she went. She looked at him grumpily.
"There'th no need for Taicho to go pass Nel, since it were Nel'th idea ta climb da tree in da firth playth!" she chastized angrily before looking down and noticing the abundance of scary hollows below them. Oh jeez! This forest was a scary place indeed, especially for two little hollows such as Garro and Nel. It was a good job Nel had passed her training; that placated her somewhat and she let out a loud "Yaaaaay!" and stood up, dancing around.
Garro's next question, unfortunately, would be lost to the mires as Nel's sudden kerfuffle had alerted all and sundry to their presence no matter how much the two were suppressing their reiatsu. The whole lot of them looked up and howled at the presence of Garro and Nel up in the tree. One intrepid Adjuchas even began to charge a bright red ball of energy. Cero!
The cero kareered towards them, the enormous red wave of destruction powerful enough to defeat both Garro and Nel with ease, leaving them as supper for the monsters down below. Quick as a flash, however, Nel pushed Garro aside and opened her mouth wide, swallowing the whole lot. There was a moment of sweet tranquility as Nel managed to swallow the cero, before spitting it back out, bathing the hollows below in a harsh red light. Several of them were wiped away instantly by the force of the attack, leaving only one or two remaining on the sandy floor below. However, Nel had exerted her body too much, and she fell down on the branch next to Garro, exhausted by her efforts.
Garro's body instantly tensed up as he saw the building red glow below. This was bad. He scrambled to get to his feet, unable to get traction fast enough to tackle Nel out of the way. The beam of energy was hurtling upward at them now, and Garro feared it was too late.
Then, his mighty Vice-Captain planted her feet and did something that only his second in command could. She took the Cero head on, not only that, but swallowed it whole. Garro's eyes were open wide, claws dug into the quartz from trying to save her, just staring. Luckily he was speechless, because he wouldn't have a chance to say anything as she suddenly and violently sent the blast right back at them with her mysterious powers.
The rebounded Cero now crashed down below to wipe out the entire center of the crowd, the remaining Hollows only barely making it away as they scrambled to safety just out of the blast's diameter.
Garro's eyes lit up, this was something to be proud of. Nel had surpassed his expectations, by far. As he went to speak his praise, he knew his words would fall onto deaf ears. His poor partner had collapsed. A small bit of him winced at the idea that he might have pushed her too far, but only to be washed over by both his duty and pride as Captain. She pushed her limits just like he strived to do. "Rest now, child. You have done incredible..." He whispered.
Looking back down to the carnage below, the smoldering blast zone was clearing of its smoke now, and the Hollows seemed to be lurking back out of their hiding spots. This had changed nothing, other than how many of them there were.
Closing his eyes and grinning to himself, Garro nodded. It was time to go home.
Somersaulting forward, Garro grabbed Nel by her ragged shirt, slinging her up onto his back. Crouching low onto the branch, he scanned the area below for his escape route. Alright, no time like go time. Readying his stride, he hooked his arms in sprinter fashion, karate-chop hands ready to go. Then, he kicked off of the branch, throwing himself out towards the tree closest by.
SHUNPOOO!
He zoomed through the air toward the tree, the Hollows below all turning their heads in unison to watch the small morsel soar to the next tree. As Garro's feet met the quartz pillar he aimed for, they all the same pushed off into a smooth backflip. His tiny hands held Nel on tight, and they both soared down finally to the sand below like action heroes.
Now, the final trial, Garro had to get through the swarm to get to the escape. Luckily, he was an expert at swiftness. His speed coupled with his still supressed Reiatsu, he might as well be a mighty breeze sweeping through the horde. With a grin, he clutched his hold on Nel tightly and lowered his head. Then, continuing his masterful Shunpo, he kicked back sand as his feet dug in, arms rapidly karate-chopping the air. He rapidly flew forward, barely visible other than the fact that you could clearly see him and he was leaving a massive trail of strewn back sand.
The Hollows seemed to ready up for their prey to come to them, but Garro was not planning to run to them, but THROUGH them. Approaching the swarm now, he flew right through on of the Hollow's legs, swerving aside to avoid its tail. As he did, a giant clawed hand slammed down to grab him, but Garro deftly sidestepped, sprinting on deeper into the group. Now, claw and tooth snapped and grabbed at him from all directions, Garro fought to dodge and sidestep each attempt. He had precious cargo, even if she was making this even harder with her weight.
Now at the end of the horde, stood a large beast, looming over Garro as he sprinted up. It tracked him as he came closer and closer, until finally it roared and slammed both of its hulking fists into the sand to try and smash Garro. Alas, it was futile for these beasts. Garro had already leapt up into the air, and sprung off of the beasts fists, vaulting up his arms and finally one last diving-board leap onto the top of the monsters head. He took this final jump and flew past him, his feet scrambling through the air until they finally hit sand again. As he ran, his feet slowed finally, as he stood at a safe distance.
Turning boldly, he scoffed and shook his head, "Revel, Beasts. You are able to live another day... but let it be kno-" but before Garro could finish his speech, suddenly a volley of dozen of Cero began to charge up and blast their way through the air toward him. His eyes grew large and he scrambled frantically to spin around and continue his escape. The blasts all began hurtling around him, near misses, but enough to really get the pep in Garro's step. His head was thrown back, arms rapidly cutting the air, legs pumping their way forward into the distance.
They had made it, now Garro could see it. Sanctitude. Moonlight.
