Name: Irregular guard Class: Weapon skill Tier: III Type: Defensive Range: 1 meter Description: A often overlooked strategy when using Katanas is the use of irregular guard. Spinning the blade to the dull side and lightly resting the user's hand to the sharp side of the blade just over the planned impact zone before pushing it back slightly to force the connection. While slightly placing the user’s hand at risk if clashing with stronger attacks this style can open the enemy’s guard if done correctly with the proper advantages.
Name: Deflect Class: Weapon skill Tier: III Type: Defensive Range: 1 meter Description: Akin to the motions of irregular guard however useful for any type of weapon. Using your own muscles against the incoming attack to push it back or away entirely. It might not be useful against lunge or stab attacks but does hold well against slashes.
Name: Redirect Class: Weapon skill Tier: III Type: Defensive Range: 1 meter Description: A passive choice when it comes to defensive arts. Using any weapon and some pressure the user attempts to move an incoming attack away from themselves or others in the area. While it could double as giving someone the chance to strike in the new window of chance, it is a purely defensive technique by itself.
Name: Spirit Parrier Class: Weapon skill Tier: III Type: Defensive Range: 1 meter Description: Useful only when wielding a weapon against a spiritual attack, this defensive art works with two motions. The first is a shallow thrust towards the ranged attack before a slash in a random direction. Should the caster of this ability have the advantages they will either move the ranges attack away or shatter it, if they lack the advantages they suffer an additional down of advantage should the attack hit them. This is added on top of the foes Advantages against the caster.
Name: Weaponed disarm Class: Weapon skill Tier: III Type: Supplementary Range: 1 meter Description: The groundwork ability to any who wish to stop fighting is the ability to disarm their enemy. Using the foe's strength against them to push the weapon opposite the held manner to force it flying away from its wielder with the right advantages. This however requires a weapon of equal or greater size than the attacking weapon at the current rank.

Spirit *Parrier No need to worry about the "down in advantage" bits; that's covered in the Advantage Guide my friend! Just get rid of that and I think we're all good.

For Spirit Parrier, the technique is set up to punish the user slightly more should they fail it. So if they only had one advantage down against the attack the skill would make it two because it failed. A high risk ability so to speak I guess.
