The white world once more, plain and silent on all sides. "L.A.N.I. Go ahead and populate something a bit more peacful. They deserve it," Gage watches as one by one the souls start appearing children, women and men all start fading into existance all around him. Then starting with his feet the world shifts, appearing like a wave of water on the ground it changes colors to blue then green as grass seemed to sprout from the ground as if in fast forward. The horizon, lined with grand tall trees, hid the end of the world. There were indeed limits to how far the rendering program that LANI had could reach and anything outside of five miles was just too far to reasonably dedicated energy to.
The people, all staring at him, began to shift. Their own bodies seeming to bubble under the surface like boils were forming. Then, like one massive disease that seemed to be spreading across the thousand souls standing in front of him, the boils began to pop and peel back. It was grotessk, the vision similar to an army of souls shedding skin like snakes. Each body retained its size but aside from that they had no features, their eyes replaced with blank flat faces. Each body was split down the middle, the right side being a solid black like the night sky while the left side was pitch white, making each soul look like something from a nightmarish movie about a wandering horde of monsters.
Gage looked around himself, the souls all slowly shifting to evenly surround him, no gaps in any direction. He knew what was about to happen, he has seen it before. In this world the souls were about to compete for the dominate personality and Gage was the top contender as it stood. They as a whole were about to target him and turn on each other so that one may survive, emerging as an enlightned soul. Gage however was here to monitor that and ensure that none of the souls were killed off, the consumption of the souls being not allowed. If any of the souls tried to eat one another then the whole batch of souls would go evil, turning what material he had already refined into a colleciton of purified Hollow energy and that is not what he wanted. He needed them to merge, becoming one without the tainting of evil consuming each other. That would only be accompished with force.
Back in Gage's lab the lights are dimmed, a metalic chestpeice donned on his chest, hooked up to a series of systems all monitoring his vitals. A single hose connected to his chest is clear, filled with a glowing green light as if it were a type of neon sign. This hose runs down across the side of his chair where he is seated and spirals on the ground over to a series of burners. His own spiritual energy was fueling a kind of torch, the green white flame licking at the bottom of a steel pot, heating the black fluid inside to a boil. White caustic smoke whisps upwards to the ceiling where fans vent it up and out into the sky far above, the wind dispersing it to the point of safety.
The actual drain on Gage's energy reserves were negligable, his own powers having reached a point of which he could power his entier home and lab alone without breaking a sweat. LANI, his computerised building assistant, monitors the temputure of the vat and also happens to be in control of the energy draw on his vest. If she feels that the vat is not hot enough she was fully capable of turning up the draw on him to the point of matching the stamina drain equivalent to a sprint for a normal human being. It was a lot of faith to place on a computer that really has never experianced fatigue but he had faith in her decisions. If anything he would have been willing to place his life in her hands, or at least more than he already has.
Sensors in the vat show that the fluid is seperating, the pure molten spiritual energy settling to the bottom with the dredge surfacing and drying out as the heat stays in the molten material in the bottom. Decending from the ceiling a metal scoop lowers on a robotic limb like arm, picking out the blackened material cooled at the surface. Over the course of an hour the scoop removes layer after layer of the black metal until less than a third of it is left over leaving a total of fiften pounds of collective metal.
Inside the world Gage was getting close to breaking a sweat, not something that he would have normally done but he was still down to one arm so his fighting style was lacking. Due to his advanced level of training however he was able to absolutly dominate the feild, the smaller bodies of the children being flung about like trash in the wind while he would drop body after body on top of one another on the ground, the forced contact causing an odd reaction where they would merge and turn to a glowing yellow aura.
In the real world only a few hours had passed but in the world of the souls he has been at this for at least six, his arm getting tired from having to repeatedly lift and drop bodies atop one another, the yellow aura growing stronger and brighter ever so slightly with each body. He went through hundreds of bodies, having to mix up how he was manuevering as his body was starting to feel the exhaustion. Twice he had to stop and catch two souls that had turned their attention to each other, trying to eat each other. Breaking them up and droppping them into the pile before they could pass on the bad intentions to the others before he could control the pace of the fight.
In the human world just as he dropped the last of the bodies into the pile the metal was cooling, solidifying into a single ingot of gold. No mold, no press and no stamp it still somehow found its way into the shape of a 15lb ingot. Gage would need rest again, the next step needing him to come to a cross roads about how h was going to got about progressing.
